PersonalityShion is something of a mixed bag of emotions. While she has no-one that she would call a "friend," there are several girls in her class who consider her one and each of them know exactly when to avoid interacting with her moodiness. The most obvious facets of her personality are her strange sense of humor and her tendency to either be extremely extroverted or, more commonly, extremely introverted and reflective. She is slow to anger when provoked but will easily fly into a rage at her own inner thoughts, and though this is rarely directed at anyone in particular, any who cross her path too closely at such a time will find themselves a target. Due to her stunted youth and frantic childhood she has few truly applicable social skills. One could surmise her general attitude as "somewhat cranky," a fact not helped by her unusual sleep schedule. She often stays up well past any reasonable hour of night listening to or writing music.
She has a somewhat unhealthy obsession with snakes and an equally unhealthy hatred of insects which have only grown with time. Given the chance she would gladly spend her days in the company of as many snakes as physically possible, simply watching them in their day to day lives while listening to her music. A possible cause of these obsessions is that at age ten she was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder which manifests itself as many odd quirks and an irrational fear of dirt and grime.
Shion has a notably strange way of speaking, referring to herself with "boku" rather than "watashi" for unknown reasons. She has no interest in changing this habit.
She is a fan of mostly early 21st century music, most notably western music and vocaloid generated music, something she finds fascinating. She considers it incredibly useful that people who may otherwise not be able to make music can with said programs. Thanks to this, she knows a small amount of english, though not enough to hold a conversation and so little that she does not know the correct usage of most words or phrases, only knowing them in context of the songs. She has no real specific taste when it comes to western music, but she tends to dislike songs about partying or romance.
To Shion, "interesting" is the highest form of praise. She dislikes boring and tedious things, but anything that can catch her interest will find itself near constantly under her observation.
She is almost always wearing headphones. In the rare case that she is not, she is almost certainly in a foul mood. She is also a fan of Gekota, though specifically the standard version almost exclusively. She still collects rare versions of merchandise, but only because of their rareness rather than for the item itself.
HistoryMuch of Shion's past is unknown due to various circumstances beyond our control. However, what we have been able to piece together of her early life indicates that it is highly likely that she was a subject of an experiment similar to that of the [Redacted]. While no records exist of such a project, the likelihood is high. What records of her life do exist show that she was a Child Error who was found alone by members of Judgement in District 19 at the presumed age of five. Simple testing showed that she had a much higher than average knowledge base for someone her age and that she has the barest hint of an AIM Field. Interviews with the girl revealed that she had few memories leading up to her being found, and what she did remember strongly supports the theory that she was experimented on by an unknown group within Academy City. According to the reports filed on the incident, she was found wearing a broken electronic bracelet baring the number four on its face and with what appeared to be a broken IV needle on its opposite side.
After being discovered her background check was unable to reveal any familial information, leading her to be placed under the care of an orphanage for several years. While there her ability slowly developed to the point that it was noticed by the caretakers and she began basic testing for the purpose of discovering and improving her ability. During her time at the orphanage she was able to quickly learn whatever she was taught with the sole exception of history, which she seemed to have no end of trouble with. Her precociousness led her to partially learning and then abandoning several instruments that the orphanage has available for their older charges. By age eight she had found herself helping the caretakers with the younger children, something that they greatly appreciated and began paying her small amounts for. According to them, the only three items she ever bought were a portable music player and two pair of headphones.
At age eleven, despite being a Child Error with only a year of attendance at formal education and being a year too young to officially do so, she successfully passed the entrance exam for Kirigaoka Girls' Academy. This year her official rank was raised to Level 5 due to her performance in the System Scan and marks her first year at Kirigaoka Girls' Academy in District 18. She is only able to attend due to a rather generous scholarship she received upon the Academy's discovery of her System Scan results, as well as a nearly perfect score on the entrance exam. She quickly obtained the title of "Fourth" due to a combination of her name, and the fact that she told the story of how she was found when introducing herself in class. While it is used both affectionately and maliciously by many of her fellow students, she has no particular opinion on the name.
Esper Ability Name: Warp (Flash Movement) - Level 5
Warp is the ability of Shion to teleport herself and other objects/people. This maxes out at fifteen things or fewer with a total weight of 5000kg (11023 pounds) or less per teleport, though anything above 1500kg (3307 pounds) per teleport will put high physical strain on her, eventually leading to permanent damage if she exceeds this limit by too much. At 2000kg she begins to take damage to her nervous system. Attempting to teleport the entire 5000kg would likely result in death. When teleporting herself, her total weight limit is lowered to 150kg (330 pounds) not counting her own weight. Her maximum range is 1 kilometer. She is able to teleport a single object into another object at a time, but cannot mass-teleport things into other things unless there is space for it inside.
There is a half-second interval between her teleports when teleporting consecutively. Rapid use of this ability in quick succession results in mental strain for her, which in turn makes it more difficult to use. This causes her time between teleports to double every consecutive teleport to a maximum of 4 seconds. She requires a moment's rest to reset her calculation speed to a maximum of one minute's rest to reset from 4 seconds to a half-second. It takes 3.75 seconds to reset from 1 seconds' lag back to .5 seconds, 7.5 seconds to reset from 2 second's lag to 1 seconds, 15 seconds to reset from 3 seconds' lag to 2 second, and 30 seconds to recover from 4 seconds' lag to 3 seconds for a total of 56.25 seconds. She requires moderate concentration to calculate for her ability as well. She is also able to teleport only a portion of an object rather than the entire object so long as she has physical contact with it.
