He shook his head.

"Not where I come from. Alchemists mix chemicals, dangerously. I stay away from that stuff as much as possible."

Quick Ben removed his burgundy and grey raincloak, identical to those worn by the Malazan marines, and held it out to her. Perhaps this approach would be better than the last one.

"I've become isolated as well. Even the Warrens, the places I draw my power from, seem bereft of their gods. For once I'm lost for a possible direction to take. Do you know the name of this city, at least?"

— NYC Streets —

The heavy vehicle wasn't particularly fast but with its sheer size and the wailing sirens ensured that any other vehicles kept well out of his way. Nevertheless, tires squealed and the people in the back tumbled about as he took corners at high speed. The way he drove was reckless, ignoring the mirrors to lean out and look behind them.

"So much for a clean getaway."

Flagg flicked a finger, sending a row of parked cars tumbling into the street. A heartbeat later the van careened through a corner onto a wider street. And everything came to a screeching halt at the three bloack radius that the NYPD had cordoned off around the entrance to Rikers island. This man had places to be and it would be far too much trouble to have to toss this many cars out of his way.

"I should have stolen one of those damn boats."

At least then he wouldn't have a crazy girl chasing after him with a katana. At least she had some sort of conscience but whoever heard of a Gunslinger with a sword? Well, Arthur Eld had one but it wasn't exactly around any more.

He threw open the door with such force that it was torn from the vehicle and smashed into a car down the street. Flagg plunged into the crowd at a fast walk, his not inconspicuously dressed companions drawing a great deal of attention along the way. His next fasted way out of Queens would the subway station on 31st street.

Preparing for another pass, he spotted Knight Delacroix charging on her own. Driving deep into the enemy formation could leave her cut off. He pointed his squad in that direction.

"Follow her in, widen the gap!"

Indrau lacked a lance, unable to grip his mount with he knees well enough to steady the weapon during a charge. Sheathing his sword to avoid dampening out whatever she might try. Instead he rode along the line, directing knights towards gaps and weak points. Really the job of the commander but she had disappeared into the melee.

Somewhere in the battle her spear has lost its tip, snapped off in the body of an orc. She discarded it, drawing one of the small, 'child sized' weapons and resuming her rampage. They broke, of course, along with the others she carried just as she came up against one of the trolls.

At least they didn't have any weapons. Maybe their drug addled minds couldn't comprehend their use or the orcs didn't trust them enough. At least it put them on even footing. She ducked the first clumsy swing and hammered a fist into it's ribs, which did nothing and felt like punching a tree. A few more blows confirmed that it was well beyond feeling the pain that such blows would deal.

Salz staggered back out of range, breathing heavily but not otherwise exhausted yet.
This got a lot more interest than I was expecting.

An OOC will take a bit while I work some things out.
oops, I made a map. =P

Interesting, though I'll need to know where do we intend to go in this RP. Like the goal of the characters. But count me as interested

The intent is that we will all be a part of a crew on the same training ship in the Sol system and will eventually make our way out to other stars.

Quick question: are you expecting anime pictures for the character sheets, or is anything okay?

That is the intended theme.
Dark Matter

Prologue

As mankind began to spend more time in space it became noticed that certain individuals developed various powers once they moved beyond our home world. They could use the presence of invisible, intangible dark matter to fuel powerful abilities in what could only be called magic. These mages also had the ability to move this dark matter around and ever take limited amounts back to earth with them.

The use of this power source enable a period of rapid, almost effortless expansion that eventually lead to humanity looking beyond our solar system. A massive ship, the Sagittarius, was constructed by every nation working together and crewed by the greatest mages of the generation. At the edge of the solar system, well past even the most remote human settlements, they worked the largest, most complex spell that had ever been attempted.

And then, when they should have shot off towards their destination at the speed of light they vanished. Without a trace. After three years without contact and no traces of debris being detected the project was deemed a failure. What followed was a period of mutual distrust between all of the various factions of humanity.

Since then another, slower method was devised that was more successful. Travel to other stars takes weeks instead of hours and thus far no sign has been seen of the lost ship.

Premise

This roleplay takes place largely in the Outer Planets Alliance, a loosely allied group of smaller stations and settlements on and around the moons of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

Characters

Because almost all of the older, more experience mages disappeared with the Sagittarius the characters will largely be under the age of twenty. They should also originate from one of the moons of the outer planets.

Magic

Magic is largely a reflection of the users imagination. The visual form it takes and the applications that work best depend on how the mage focuses their mind. From a classical mage to a paladin invoking the will of god, anything is possible.

— Candaeln —

It didn't take him long to get ready. Just a few moments to return to his room, grabbing a leather satchel of clay tiles etched with runes. Chain and leather wasn't as heavy as full plate so he rarely started a day without his armour.

~

As the charge was sounded he unlimbered his sword and pointed with it.

"Squad with me! Hold your lances in reserve!"

It would be suicide to close into sword range with a troll. Barbed lances have more reach and would stick in to impede movement. So he had taken enough of these lances for those lesser knights that he didn't entirely hate. These were his skirmishers and he lead them in a loose line at the right side of the enemy group, away from the center to avoid disrupting the attacks from the friendly mages.

The flying wedge abruptly wheeled to the right as they made contact. Indrau swung down with Silence, feeling it strike home again and again as he lead the unit along the edge of the group of orcs, savaging those along the edge. It was a well practiced move that allowed his men to engage the enemy but not get bogged down and be unable to respond to enemy movements. When they reached the wall they wheeled again and resumed the attack, trampling those already fallen and cutting further in.

Salz was swift as well in retrieving her armour. A complex combination of plates, chain and leather in the green and red of her homeland. Along with her own large iron clad spear she took a handful of smaller, human sized, spears to avoid being caught without a ranged weapon again.

~

Despite being on foot she lost only a handful of paces to the lead elements of the charge. Rather than use her spear point first she slammed into the closest orcs with her shoulder, knocking back even those four ranks ahead. Then her spear lashed out. heavier than a sword and with greater momentum and leverage it tore weapons from hands and shattered limbs ever as the point found throats and gaps in armour.
I believe we are. You may have better luck asking in the ooc linked in the post above yours @Kazemitsu.
Name: Valence Dane
Age: 37
Gender:
Race: Human
Appearance:

Personality:
Valence is a queen of spite and narcissism that only draws allies in acquaintances in her thirst for power. She has a childish temper and an incredible sadistic side. Vallence can fake reactions well and does all she can to further her own goals. Most actions she takes have ulterior motives.

Skills:
Torture - Valence Dane uses torture and physiological manipulation to force her victims to be dependent on her. Usually she has others perform the deeds before she restores them to health to experience it all over again.

Abilities:
Necromancy - Valnce's necromancy relies on the subjects magical potential to sustain them after death. in a weaker individual this might result in the being totally unable to use magic but someone stronger would still have partial use of their abilities. After resurrection they can be controlled by her in proportion to how attached they might be to her.

Healing - Two sides to the same action. Her necromancy uses the subjects own magic to maintain their body while she can use hers to repair damage to others.

Equipment:
None

Brief History:
Maybe she got an early start to power being born the eldest of three. Everything since then has brought here into ever higher positions. Even before she came into her necromantic abilities Valence was a cruel and sadistic child. Life in a small town was boring but Valence quickly found ways to amuse herself at the expense of others. Causing physical pain was enough to start but she quickly learned other ways.

From the very beginning of the Yeln regime she had her place as an inquisitor and executioner. Setting traps and capturing dissenters were a way to gain favour within the empire and with those in command. On the day of the final battle she fielded a legion of undead were ultimately wiped out. The effort of constantly renewing her forces taxed her power and she was forced to flee, cutting herself off from any that remained.

Now she has resurfaced in the service of Tinnec under an assumed name as she was presumed killed in the war. Maybe she feels regret but that isn't very likely.
Name: Lacintos
Appearance:

Gender: Male
Race: Shapeshifter
Age: 27
Personality:
Though spare with words, Lacintos is a trickster at heart. Though his words might give insult at times there is never any spiteful intent. He reveres neither rank, power or wealth. What Lacintos respects is audacity and wit. His lineage is that of telepathic demons and as such he has no vocal cords but lacks his parents telepathic abilities for communication. To speak he must change into a form that has the required biological features.

When impersonating another being he has no problem imitating their mannerisms and personality but often he tendency towards mockery comes through when he thinks he can get away with it.

Abilities:
Lacintos can change form into anything real or imagined almost limitlessly but restricted in size to his own twelve foot height. He can create armour, weapons and clothing but is unable to use any sort of supernatural effects. The ability to shapeshift means that wounds heal quickly and without scars. With these traits, even in his relatively weak original form Lacintos is very resilient. The Shapeshifter can also gain knowledge by staring into their victims eyes as they die.

Equipment:
None

History:
Shapeshifters are rare, more of a mutation of other transforming demon types. They lack a defined alternate form and can instead change at will to whatever they imagine. The easiest way to do this is to mimic what one sees. For Lacintos this very easily worked with his natural mischievousness. predictably, this got him into a lot of trouble very quickly. To escape retribution and the likelihood of being drafted for the war effort he fled to Avici, blending in as once of the hostile species and spreading his own type of mayhem and confusion during his trips back to civilization.

Almost a decade later now he has returned. After killing a well off demon and taking his place Lacintos has inherited a whole new set of problems after that demon turned out to be be investigating allegations of rebellion. Oops.
