- Kubo, Cafeteria -

Disgusted, Kubo pushed his plate aside. The warm aroma of baked beans and bacon just didn't seem as appealing as it had a bit before. The sight of cat guts had a stunningly detrimental effect on his appetite. Every time he looked at the crispy bacon ridges all he saw was the crimson fringes of the cat's stomach lining. Of course, more than the cat itself, the sight of that freaky death mage EATING the damn thing had turned his stomach. Certainly he had understood that he would not be dealing with ordinary people when he came here, but he had expected extraordinary, not.... freaky. If he hadn't been trying to eat breakfast he would have walked over and punched that sadistic bitch in the face himself, killing a cat like that for no reason. Certainly Kubo was no cat lover, considering the animals practical companions at best, but the thought of inflicting harm on another living being for amusement...

Resigned to his empty stomach he stood up and looked around. If he was to succeed in his quest he would need to get himself more power, more artifacts, and more reagents. And that meant hunting for manabeasts. Certainly he could do this on his own, but he certainly wasn't eager to go on his first hunt without backup. More than one aspiring Artificer had ended a potentially successful career in a Manabeast's gullet, and he had no intention of joining those numbers. Immediately the freaks who had engaged in the little fistfight were discarded from his list of potential allies, there was no way he was trusting either of them with his back. Maybe it was unfair to judge the death mage for his odd habits, but death magic didn't have the best reputation. More interesting was the little group converging over in the corner, who appeared to also be planning on a hunt.

Shor was a violence magnet, or perhaps just a walking trouble hurricane. The kind of person more likely to get into a bar brawl than actually get a drink. While Kubo didn't exactly approve of her reliance on violence, nor on her temperamental attitude, but there was no denying that she was a good fighter, perhaps one of the best around. Her strength and experience made her a useful ally, and her simplicity made her easy to understand. It was a mindset that, even if he didn't quite agree with it, made her fairly easy to deal with as long as you remained on her good side. Better a friend than an enemy.

Sirius was a bit of a mystery to Kubo. He seemed to be a strongly moral person, a stance Kubo could certainly respect. Although he personally was more motivated by ambition than by lofty ideals he did admire the dedication it took to keep to such stringent principles. Certainly he was dependable, and would likely work to keep the group in line. His straightforward manner and blatant kindness also made him a likable person, and Kubo couldn't help but trust him. There was no way this guy was going to betray him, and he'd be a good friend to have. Besides, he'd heard Sirius was also fairly powerful, although he had never personally seen him fight. It seemed Sirius wasn't as quick to brawl as Shor was.

Lysette also appeared to have joined this little group. She was a quick-witted child, although she didn't seem overly social. Quick on her feet and mild of temperament, at least as far as he had seen. Certainly she would be a useful ally to have, and if Sirius trusted her then he supposed she certainly couldn't be all that bad. Certainly it would be nice to have another relatively calm individual in the group to balance out Shor's turbulence. Not a lot to go on, but better than nothing, and certainly better than that Moira girl.

Deciding that this was likely the best group he'd find in quite a while, Kubo walked over, smiling in what he hoped was a friendly manner as he nervously rubbed his hair. He'd spent a long time on his studies and rarely interacted with the other students. His mental evaluation of them had only reminded him of the fact that pretty much everything he knew had been learned from an attic window. In fact he didn't think he'd ever said more than a sentence or two to Sirius before this point. "Ah, hey, guys. I heard you guys were going to hunt for manabeasts? I hope you don't mind if I tag along. Better to stick together when trying to find dangerous creatures, right?" Kubo couldn't entirely hide his nervousness over the proposal, hoping he didn't get rejected. More than that, though, he hoped he'd remembered these people's names correctly. It wouldn't be the first time he'd completely forgotten someone's name, and the situation didn't get any less awkward with experience.
Name: Aaron

Age: 42

Gender: Male

Nomadic or sedentary: Nomadic

Weapons:
A DRD Paratus semi-automatic rifle, complete with scope and bipod attachments. A metal baseball bat, well-worn. Always carries a molotov cocktail, and can produce more if he has the necessary supplies.
Skills: basic engineering, Chemistry, and trap design. Fairly skilled shot, but mostly untrained in melee. Knows the city quite well, and can move more quietly than most.

Any unusual traits? Does it show physically?:
Aaron's entire skin is pale and splotchy. It's highly sensitive to sunlight and pressure, and the top layer peels often. For this reason Aaron usually wears clothing that covers as much skin as possible. He can see better than humans in the dark but is nearly blind during the day, comparable to an owl. His hearing is far better than normal, allowing him to easily hear people moving even from a distance, and even track people by their heartbeat. His teeth are misshapen and sharp, making it difficult for him to speak without cutting his lips, and causing him discomfort when eating. His nose is flattened and broken, although this is a result of repeat injury rather than mutation. And unfortunate element of the mutation is the corruption of his lungs, which reduces his stamina and makes him prone to wheezing. It also means his breath can rattle if he isn't careful, and he can have coughing fits.

Appearance:
A figure wearing a gas mask, as well as thick leather and cloth coverings, usually coloured black or grey. Almost no skin is visible. He's of slightly above average height but usually moves in a crouched, hunched stance, rarely standing at full height. Were his face visible it would be a frightening sight indeed, with grey peeling skin pulled back to reveal hollow black eyes, thin lips barely covering long and oddly angled fangs. His hair is black, often meticulously cut and washed, so far as the apocalypse allows. His broken nose and habit of short, twitchy movements does nothing to humanise this monstrous appearance.

Brief Personality:
Aaron is incredibly shy about his mutations, and therefore often avoids human contact. He tells himself he prefers this state of isolation, but in truth he's a very socially oriented person, and craves attention. Sometimes he'll sneak into compounds just so he can listen to other people's conversations. He feels like he isn't 'proper' anymore. He's sad and on the whole not very violent, although he is prone to violent outbursts when angered (a difficult feat to achieve). Aaron quite likes animals, and likes reading, often scavenging the books that others leave behind. He's also a big fan of decoration, often using flowers, and tries (usually in vain) to keep his temporary lodgings clean.

Background(Please reveal your current location):
A soldier for most of his life, Aaron was expelled from the group he had been living with when his mutations became more apparent. These people believed that such mutations were infectious, and none wanted to end up looking like Aaron. This was when he became a Nomad, wandering the world in solitude. Most recently he's found himself in New York, where he's stayed for a while, although moving from area to area. The sheer size of the city means there are areas that haven't been scavenged yet. Often camps that ran afoul of the wildlife that pushes ever deeper into the city.

Alone or with someone?: Alone

Waiting on you.
Name: Kubo foundling

Gender: Male

Appearance:

Starting Artifacts:
[Heart of the Mountain] -Earth
The artifact itself takes on the shape of a metal vambrace, worn on the right forearm. It's made of iron, with a copper trim. It's design is simple but sturdy. The only exception to this utilitarian style is an image of a mountain covered in clouds painstakingly carved into the side, only visible on close inspection. The artifact's power is to call forth rocks, covering Kubo's arm in a thick layer of flexible rock. This functions as armour, and allows Kubo to punch people with additional force. It doesn't actually increase his strength, but rather compensates for the added weight, putting more mass behind his blows than a normal fist.

[The Sparkle Stick] -Crystal
A stick with a small quartz crystal tied to the top with string. Kubo's first artifact, this object seems to generate tiny crystals in the air when used, causing a 'sparkle' effect. This was originally described by others as useless, but Kubo keeps it around. He's since learned to properly use the artifact's ability, which is to cause small crystals to form, and manipulate the form of crystals in various aesthetically pleasing ways. Unfortunately, it's still completely useless in combat. His favourite trick is to create small crystal 'statuettes', or flowers, which he often puts a lot of effort into.

Orphanage Hometown: Kenton

History:
Kubo was picked up from the outskirts of Liravel, where he had been living in poverty. He never knew who his mother was, even less so the father, and was orphaned at a young age. He survived in the outskirts by begging and stealing, but was badly malnourished when he was found by an artificer who recognized the potential in him. Kubo was brought to the orphanage at the age of 9, and has lived there ever since.

Personality:
If a single word can define Kubo it's 'Determined'. He wants to be the greatest Artificer ever, and will do anything in his power to achieve that goal. He also seems to have a fascination with money, having decided to use his powers to become stunningly rich. Of course he'll try and help people along the way, but the end goal is for him to be able to buy his own villa in the rich quarter. Even becoming the most powerful artificer only seems to be a means to reach this end, as he believes that artificers are clearly amazing, and as such the greatest artificer would no doubt be the wealthiest man in the world.

- Alexander & Ryudamon -

Spotless steel hallways, large computer screens, advanced technology, armed guards. Voices talking over speakers, organised mass movement, transport of people and objects, portals to... gods know where. The whole place smelled like a hospital, and looked like a cross between the digital world he knew and some kind of weird sci-fi movie. It was a large, moving machine, and to Alexander it felt like the whole thing was moving far beyond his comprehension. He'd only been 'recruited' a few days ago, and the knowledge that there were other universes out there was still kind of sinking in. And although he was all for fighting the good fight he certainly felt out of place amidst these well cared for uniforms and advanced sciences, discussing advanced matters covering multiple universes as if it were a simply day trip. While usually rather confident and straightforward, emboldened by his many successful battles, here he felt like a small boy in a room full of adults, in way over his head. The very fact that this Osamu treated Ygdrasil, a godlike entity with control over the entire digital universe, as some kind of plug to stop some other creature he'd never even HEARD of before was... astounding. Not for the first time he wondered just how great this strange man's resources were, and what the hell he was doing here if they were as extensive as they felt. If he had been his more confident self he would have probably objected to his plan, based on his own experience with Ygdrassil. It seemed too likely that the megalomanic AI would decide to unleash the entity, or perhaps worse, somehow harness it. The Ygdrassil in Alexander's universe had finally learned to accept humans, but that didn't mean he wanted to put it in charge of what sounded like something very dangerous.

Alexander stood in the spotlight, with a slightly unsure smile hiding his bewilderment. By his side was Ryudamon, the small digital creature affectionately nuzzling Alexander's hand. In order to distract himself from what he experienced as a foreign and oppressive atmosphere, Alexander instead turned to the other people in the room. People, individually, he could understand. As team leader in his own digital universe he was a fairly good judge of character, and trusted his gut when it came to people. And even a casual glance around the room told him that he was certainly looking at a diverse cast of characters. Diverse being the nicest word that came to mind.

Osamu himself was... eccentric. Exotic. Although appearing relatively young he talked as if he understood what was going on here, which to Alexander indicated great intellect. He appeared to be the mind behind all of this, including many of the technological elements, certainly indicating a prodigy of some sort. But there was also something slightly... off, about him. Alexander couldn't read him. He was always moving, always talking, always looking, always observing. He never seemed to stand still, or take things in. Something about that irked Alexander, and although he thought Osamu trustworthy, he wasn't sure if he was entirely... there. Then again, he had worked with far stranger entities before, so who was he to judge?

The other person in the room was another young man, introduced by Osamu as Braize. This fellow looked more like someone Alexander would know, with the casual ready stance he'd seen before in experienced digidestined. Perhaps this guy was a digidestined like him, although he didn't see any digimon partner. Not that all digimon partners were permanently manifested. Of course he'd also heard of other types of digidestined, individuals who partnered up with all sorts of odd beings, and even formed teams of digimon-like entities. Maybe this Braize was from another universe with different rules, which would certainly make working with him interesting. Regardless Alexander felt he could trust this fellow, and looked forward to talking to him later.

Breathing heavily, Alexander stood with one hand against a wall, as Ryudamon poked around curiously while making 'hmm' sounds. The transportation had left him feeling a little queasy, although Rydamon seemed unaffected. Looking up he noticed that there were two new people, although it took him a moment to focus on them. It looked like they were in a city, which wasn't what he'd been expecting. If there had been some climatic battle, wouldn't it have taken place in the digital world? The idea of entities like Ygdrassil and Nyx being in a city like this made him uneasy. If anything went wrong, even if he and his new allies were able to contain the threat, the death toll would be immense. And that's assuming that they were able to contain two immensely powerful entities, something which Alexander doubted severely. He looked questioningly in Osamu's direction, but the eccentric scientist at least LOOKED like he had everything under control, and Alexander hoped for everyone's sake his confidence was more than just an act.

Walking over, he took a closer look at the newcomers. Two girls, a short one and a weird one. Great. More strange people. Putting on an affable smile and running a hand through his hair to ensure it maintained it's seemingly constantly state of slightly-ruffled he approached them. Only to, then, be immediately dismissed. A slight look of disbelief crossed his face for a moment as the girl called him weak, only to then completely ignore him. Certainly he'd been underestimated before, but even Ygdrassil had at least acknowledged him. With his pride slightly hurt he waved a hand at her. "Now now, no need to call people that." Looking around, it didn't seem like anyone recognised the weird girl, although the short girl appeared to have been expecting Osamu & co. "So who are you? And also you." He pointed to both of the girls, attempting to sound slightly less confused than he felt. Although he was glad to be out of the... facility, he still felt rather swept away by things. "And most importantly, why are we in a city?"
@Wraithblade6
I'd say you should check with the GM if the Phorian mages are just going to follow you. It seems unlikely to me that there are going to be 20 Phorian mages right there, considering nobody else has seen any at all. It seems equally unlikely that they would all follow Magnus, especially considering the attitude the locals hold towards summoning magic and 'demonic' entities.
- Emily 'Jolt' -

Emily looked over at Elidh as she suggested a race. Clearly that wasn't what the prissy girl was trying to do, and it took a moment for Emily to figure out this was an attempt to defuse the situation. What, did she think Emily was stupid? Of course Emily could beat the midget girl in a race, but then again Emily was the fastest person she knew. One could even call her... lightning fast. With a snicker Emily returned her attention to the midget girl, who she realised had been saying something. Although it appeared she had also been interrupted, and it didn't take long to figure out by what.

A woman of medium height had entered the room. She didn't look all that odd, all things considered, and certainly her appearance couldn't be called 'scary', but there was something about her that gave Emily chills. Maybe it was the air of authority. She had that look like she already knew everything worth knowing, but unlike other people, whom it had only given an air of pretentiousness in Emily's eyes, this woman managed to pull it off. Emily had been lucky enough only to have a single conversation with this ancient fossil, when she had first arrived at the school. A conversation that had gone amiably enough.

As the headmistress placed what Emily could only think of as a cuff on the shorter girl Emily's hands remained firmly at her side. There was no way she was putting on some random weird magical junk. Certainly not if it came from HER. "You know you can't do that, right? Ain't no way that's legal. Right of privacy and all that. It's in the law, specially for someone who's only as old as me." Emily herself had been picked up often enough to know a thing or two about the law. Never for anything major, just stealing clothes, breaking and entering, and once for punching an officer in the face. Called it 'obstruction of the law' or something. Regardless, Emily was not letting the creepy witch lady put weird magical artifacts on her arms. And she certainly didn't want creepy witch lady knowing where she was all the time. The image of the woman sitting in her room, using a cauldron or whatever to peek in on all the children.... ew. That was just generally wrong, in a colourful variety of ways. "Hey, I only came up here to look at the view. I didn't cause no trouble, see? Me and midget over there were just having a conversation, after she interrupted me n.... E.. Ele..." Embarased, Emily spent a moment grasping her memory for her new friend's name. "Elidh, right, yeah."

Most powerful characters in this roleplay right now:

Gilgamesh, Magnus, Darth Vader. Potentially girl-zilla (depending on the feats used, might be able to rip apart planets with bare hands)

Each of these characters has immense powers. I'd wager any of the first 3 could hold their own against any of the others. Certainly none of them would one-shot the rest. Each of these characters is significantly more powerful than most other characters, and each should be treated as a 'boss monster'. Conflicts involving characters of this level of power will usually consist of 3-1 or 4-1 combats, as most characters lack the power to match them in single combat.

The existence of characters who are more powerful than others is not necessarily bad. It just means those characters should be watched out for more, and will have a larger impact with their presence. Such characters are 'big movers', and other characters will be forced to work together if they want to fight off such characters. The presence of beings far more powerful than the average character changes the dynamic of the gameplay.

If people don't want there to be characters of this power level, then that should be agreed on in discussion with the group. It is possible to change the rp so that all characters are evenly matched, but it should be a group decision, or GM decision (although the GM, as usual, appears to be absent).

As a side note, has anyone noticed that Multiverse rps seem to be plagued with disappearing GMs?
@Wraithblade6

Lightsabers are able to cut through most anything, but Magnus IS stupidly tough. A lightsaber would be able to cut him, but slowly, and with great effort. It would have to be continually applied and 'pushed through' over the course of several seconds. Similar to attempting to cut a block of mandalorian iron.

Of course, certain Sith and Jedi are able to enhance the power of their Lightsabre, at which point it becomes dependent on the Sith/Jedi in question. For example, a full-power Luke Skywalker could probably slice through Magnus like butter, being the most powerful Jedi in history, assuming we take Legends!Luke.
