Either RolePlayerGuild.com is glitching, or everyone is studiously ignoring my PMs.

Ooh, that sounds interesting! Send me an pic and an app, and we'll see if we can get you started. :)
The RP thread has been created, but 2 out of 3 players have vanished, leaving us a bit dry. If anyone's interested in joining, I'll happily rewrite the RP to include you. Who wants to play?
@Lucius Cypher
Yeah, look like I may have to. Getting new members up to speed is tough, but I should just bite the bullet.
@ReusableSword Everything okay?
"H-huh?" came the man's confused reply. "Wait, no, now I'm confused. Why would there be a gift involved? I... No, I don't think I'd be that drunk. Well, not anymore... I'm pretty sure I'd remembersomething about a gift is what I'm saying."
"That's not-" she began.
He sighed and scratched his head. "Uh, listen. I'm sorry, but I really don't remember you, so I don't know what the whole 'gift' thing is about, but you don't have to worry about it. And... well, yeah, I guess you did wake me, but I fall asleep at the workbench all the time, so it's not exactly unusual."
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean-" she mumbled.
His eyes widened slightly as a thought occurred to him. "It's the house, isn't it?" he asked, a small grin spreading across his face. "You're my new neighbor. It's probably where I recognize you from too, isn't it? I must've seen you looking at it back when it first went up for sale."
He doesn't recognize me from my modeling career? She swayed a little from side to side and smiled.

And then his eyes widened significantly more. "Wait, you were gonna get me a gift? You're the new arrival! I should be the one giving the gifts!" He quickly glanced back down the hall, trying to think of what he might had in the workshop. Violet glanced down the hall too, wondering what it was he'd been working on. Something mechanical? Is he an engineer of some sort?

"Hmm, maybe I could... Yeah, yeah that'd probably work pretty well..." he mumbled to himself before turning back to Violet and held out his hand to shake. "Yeah, give me 'till tomorrow and I should have something pretty decent up and ready for you. Until then, the name's Jeremy. Jeremy Lindall."

Violet took his hand and gave it a vigorous shake. "Nice to meet you, Jeremy Lindall! I'm Violet Summer. I'm sure we'll be great friends. Never mind about the gift; it's just a silly old custom anyway. We should hang out!"

She stole another glance at the room behind him. "May I come in?" she asked, practically bouncing with excitement.

It's fine! It's worth the wait to write with you. :)
Do you have a link to the RP?

Incidentally, if Sofie is indeed Terran as I suspected, she may have more modern/European/American ideas of dating, which may constitute a cultural difference from Ed's background. Her reaction may be more like yours. :P

Right? Not Another Love Song was stuck in my head for weeks. It's a catchy little devil. xD

You can post whenever you're ready. I've been a little swamped these days too, and not just with work, so I know exactly how you feel. Take your time. ;)

It is pretty surprising, isn't it? :P

I find pre-confession romantic dancing to be a little tiring. I would much rather explore characters working through an existing relationship, as it's highly unexplored territory in the field of fiction with a vast wealth of untapped story material. More importantly, it feels more in line with Crescent culture as I've imagined it. Asking people out for dating/courting isn't as big a deal for them as it would be in, say, American culture, since they don't associate any commitment with it like we Westerners do. Responsible or interested family members would interview each other to ascertain the prospective spouse's strengths and weaknesses, and provided everyone agrees, the couple would date/court in order to learn more about each other. They would do so for a short period of time, usually a few months, after which they will either part ways (perhaps temporarily) or make a decision. It's common for them to part ways so they can court other people, but sometimes, a pair clicks so well that they choose to get engaged instead.

Things really only get serious when the pair get engaged. Backing out at this point isn't so easy, and may require some legal proceedings in order to make the split (depending on the prospective couple's emotional and financial investment in the union). Once they're married, they're married forever, backed up by Imperial law, so they need to be completely sure of their choice. Thus, dating should be done frequently and in-depth in order to make sure that the person they marry is the person they want to stay with for life, because once they commit, there's no getting out. So that's the impetus for Ed asking her out early - getting too attached to her before he really gets to know her could be dangerous for them both in the long-term.

The Crescents have many ancestral roots in Asian culture, which is partly where that comes from.
