Either RolePlayerGuild.com is glitching, or everyone is studiously ignoring my PMs.

Vali just finished unpacking her things when she heard an explosion outside the dorm.

"What the-" She leaned on the windowsil and strained against the glass. "No. Way. Are people blowing this place up already? Without me?" Vali flung on her magic-resistant longcoat and strode out. She wanted to run, hurry, but it would be most unladylike.

Only if I get caught.

She looked both ways and broke out into a sprint toward the courtyard to find Jonathan gazing approvingly upon the destruction he'd wrought.

Vali folded her arms.

"Hmph. Did you do that?" she called out to him.
Sounds a little like a character I created. What are her powers?
"Very well!"

As they walked to the women's dorms, Vali returned to his side and once again tried to strike up a conversation. "Is this your first time at the Magic School too? What courses are you taking?"
Determining intentions by touch alone is crazy broken. Hidden intentions and secret plans are the meat and potatoes of good stories; the ability to see them with something as simple and easy as a touch thoroughly declaws them. I don't recommend giving him that kind of power.

Besides, Vali is only an antagonist, not a villain. Becoming her "minion" is not the worst thing that could happen. In fact, it opens up several interesting story possibilities on its own. Don't be so scared of losing to the antagonist that you lock yourself out of fun story material. :)
@digichiptune There's no way Jonathan would have learned Vali's intentions from what she's done so far. At best, he might be suspicious that a cute girl is paying him so much attention - at best.

Additionally, I've established her as something of an antagonist. De-clawing her plays makes your character weak.

Just a few tips to consider.
Vali looked like a deer in the headlights.

The rule against gender mixing on dorms threw her scheme into disarray. She's been planning to make him coffee or tea, flirt a little, and then BAM! Instant minion! If she knew the layout of the campus, she might have made a counter-offer to take him out to coffee in a more neutral place. Learning the layout would prove essential to victory, and at this rate, using it as a bonding tool would have to take second place on her priority list.

Perhaps she could salvage it by making the most of the walking time between dorms.

"Fine then. Could you then just deposit your things and show me to the women's dorms? I cannot find my way there on my own."
She touched his arm and smiled. That outta nab him. "Let us forge an agreement. While we are here at the men's dorms, we may as well deposit your things in your room. After, you will lead me to the women's dorms, and I will offer you a caffeinated beverage in my room. What say you?"
Vali tossed her hair and laughed. "Agreed, that would be most unfortunate. Do you have any commitments at present? If not, would you be amenable to helping me memorize the campus layout?"

That mask is going to make it difficult to get feedback on how my actions are affecting him. I have to get it off him somehow.
He's going to escort me there! Score!

Vali walked beside him as they made their way to the women's dorms. There was no telling whether he'd be a useful minion or a liability, but it probably couldn't hurt to grab his affections. She would have to start with a little conversation peppered with compliments. "Did you truly memorize the whole map?"
She thought she'd be the darling of the crowd from the moment she arrived.

Instead, she found herself jostled and forced into a river of people as they filed into the campus. Vali hefted her purse strap over her opposite shoulder and studied the mortals around her with a squinted eye.

One fox girl.
Three werewolves.
Two other silver-haired beauties.
Five actual princesses.
And innumerable hundreds of other wannabe demigods.

Wonderful. More competition. She opened up the map on her tablet and navigated her way to the dormitories. She thought she'd found the women's dorms, but as she kept encountering boy after boy after boy, it dawned on her that perhaps she'd missed the word "Boy's" cut off the top of the map.

A tall kid in a yellow shirt was probably the only one not engaged in active conversation for a moment. Perhaps she could ask him for directions. Target acquired! Vali brushed her fingers through her hair and began her approach. She selected a vector outside his field of vision and came up beside him.

Now, how to get his attention? Tap on the shoulder, gentle cough, or a meek 'excuse me?' Men liked being touched by women, but being touched when he's not expecting it could be more startling than arousing. A gentle cough was cliche, but workable. A meek 'excuse me' would be ideal, but her pride didn't much like the idea of verbally petitioning others for attention.

She maneuvered in front of him, assumed a playful smile, and coughed into her fist. "Pardon me, good sir, do you know where the women's dorms are? I may be a little lost."
