Hello @tipssyCalibrator ! I was wondering if I could join this roleplay! It seems like a really interesting idea, and I would love it if I could be a part of it as well! The character I would like to be is Benjamin Tennyson from the original TV show of Ben 10. Now, I do have a couple of alterations I would like to have, but not too much to make it my own AU because I know you don't allow that. I would just like for him to be post-Omniverse and maybe just have different clothes. And, if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to throw in an original alien or two that I have. I also understand that if I'm Ben, he can't have all of his aliens. And Alien X is definitely out of the question. And I will try to keep his alien count lower, somewhere around 10-15. I hope I can join!~
Sure, I'm willing to except tiny alterations to characters. As long as they're not, like, fundamentally different it's perfectly fine. Just make a character sheet for him and I'll evaluate it
::Attention any UNSC personnel on this frequency. This is Cortana, AI serial number CTN 0452-9, and Master Chief Petty Officer John-117. We have crash landed and we need assistance. Please respond as soon as possible::
A few seconds passed and Chief had gotten into the warthog that he used earlier to make the jump onto the Forward Unto Dawn. He was currently backing it out of the ship using the hangar door and out into the Crossroads ground. "Keep working on that distress signal, Cortana. I'll drive around and see if we can boost our transmission at all" Chief said to Cortana as he then turned the warthog around to face it away from the ship and started driving away from it. ::I'm trying as many comm frequencies as I can, but I'm not getting anything. I hate to say it Chief, but I think we're on our own:: Cortana said with a slightly worried tone. "Don't worry, I've got a backup plan" Chief responded confidently, looking over to the flare gun that he placed on the passenger seat of the warthog
Just as Dante was making his way out of Devil May Cry, he immediately heard the distinct sound of a shotgun blast coming from his side, followed by the feeling of a pellet piercing his flesh. It almost missed and only grazed his shoulder, but it alerted him all the same. Great, he thought, not even 5 seconds into this stupid place and he was already having trouble. He turned to his side to see who just shot at him to find...a schlub in some kind of military getup? Alright, that was different. Dante let out a frustrated sigh
"Alright look G.I. Joe, I dunno whatever beef it is you have with me, and to be honest I couldn't give half a damn. You're lucky I'm not in the mood to deal with you right now, so I'm gonna let you off with a warning, alright?" Dante said with a large amount of frustration in his voice. Realistically, he knew that this person was not gonna drop it that easily, but Dante was just too frustrated to care. He promptly turned back around and continued walking in the direction he originally was walking in
As Peter swung around in the city, he kept his eyes and ears peeled for any signs of activity in the streets. However, after a couple minutes passed and he didn't seem to be finding anyone, he was starting to get discouraged. Was he really all alone in this strange place? Didn't that message say something about other token holders? Where was-- wait! Suddenly, Peter noticed something out of the corner of his eye. He saw a silhouette of a man near the edge of right where the city met the desert. Oh thank god, he thought. Someone else to talk to in this godforsaken place. He promptly started swinging his way over to the distant figure, thinking about what he'd say to him once he got there
Unfortunately however, the closer and closer Peter got to the figure and the more of the details he could make out, the more his heart began to sink. The person was dressed from head to toe in black, with a creepy helmet shaped like a skull and a sinister looking cape. If Peter were to make a list of things to wear that gave off bad vibes then this guy would check, like, all the boxes. Instead of going up annd talking to him like he originally planned, Peter decided he would instead follow him from a distance at the top of the buildings and watch what he did. He made a quick landing mid swing on a medium sized building and leaned down in a crawling position to lower his profile so he wouldn't be seen and started watching the mysterious cloaked figure
OOC: Honestly I'm pretty sure Peter would PROBABLY recognize who Darth Vader was, but I feel like him noticing that would make things kinda weird, so let's just pretend the Star Wars movies don't exist in this Peter's universe XD
About 360 feet in the air, a brilliant flash of light went off. The light was quite large and extended very far, able to be seen by anyone who was in the general vicinity. Following the light was the appearance of a spaceship, which seemed to snap into view in the blink of an eye. The ship was around the size of a battleship, it appeared to be military of some kind with its black utilitarian shape, and it almost looked like a pistol if you squinted at it. Most importantly though, it was on fire and in the process of crashing. Down and down it fell at an alarming speed before impacting on the ground with an earthshatting quake
...
::Chief! Chief! Are you alright?::
Master Chief opened his eyes to a blank, bright sky. As he slowly came to, he tried to comprehend what the sky looked like. He wasn't sure what to make of it, it looked foregin to him, like he had never seen it before. He then shifted his head to the left and saw a series of buildings, but...they looked off. Nothing like the buildings he was used to seeing. They looked like they were made of pure, solid cement, and had no doors or any kinds of markings on them. What more was that there weren't even any streets or sidewalks around them, it was just solid pavement all around. Where in the world was he? As Chief climbed to his feet, he tried to recall what happened. The last thing he remembered was jumping onto the Forward Unto Dawn with the warthog to escape the destruction of Installation 08. After that...total blank. As Chief thought about what was going on, he continued to survey his surroundings and noticed what appeared to be the Foward Unto Dawn lying down and burning in a broken heap. That image immediately snapped Chief out his his dazed state. He shook his head and stretched it left and right a little bit to get his bearings, and then walked over to the burning wreck
::Well, I guess that answers my question:: said Cortana
As Chief stepped closer to the Foward Unto Dawn, he started examining it. He wasn't an engineer, but he didn't need to be to know that the ship was in a pretty abysmal state. It was on fire and the middle section was on the brink of collapsing in on itself. As he was looking around, he spied something strange on the floor. There seemed to be some kind of...poker chips next to the hangar door? Chief was curious, so reached down to pick them up. As soon as soon as his hand touched the chips, suddenly the HUD on his helmet visor sprang to life and started typing out some text. It read:
1: When you enter the Crossroads, you are immediately given 5 poker chip-esque objects called "tokens". These tokens cannot be destroyed, they are completely impervious to any type of method used to destroy them. These tokens are able to be "spent" on the following things:
1(a): Spending 1 token will give you a 50/50 chance to have something either good or bad happen to you. Maybe you'll gain a super useful powerup, but maybe you'll spawn a large monster that you'll have to fight instead. This is performed by flipping the token on your hand as if you were flipping a regular coin 1(b): Spending 3 tokens allows you to bring one person, place or thing of your choice from your home universe to help you. This can be anything from an ordinary knife to an entire military base, it's entirely up to you (as long as it actually exists within your home universe). This is performed by holding 3 tokens up in the air and saying the name of the item 1(c): Spending 100 tokens grants you a single wish. This wish can be for anything, including a trip out of the Crossroads. This is performed by placing 100 tokens on the ground and saying what your wish is
2: Other tokens are collected by gaining them from other token holders. A token is considered to be yours the second you touch it
2(a): The methods of obtaining tokens are completely open ended and any method is allowed: beating/killing someone and taking their tokens, stealing them covertly, convincing them to hand them over, etc
3: You have the option to join together with one or more token holders to join a "pact". When in a pact, all tokens held by each member of a pact is pooled together, and is counted towards the token count of every other token holder in the pact (for example, if you had 5 tokens and joined a pact with someone who had 20 tokens, all of you would have 25 tokens after joining the pact). This means that joining pacts can lead to getting a wish earlier than you otherwise would alone. This is performed by shaking hands with one of the pact members (or the closest equivallent, if none of the relevent individuals have hands to shake). Pacts can only hold up to 4 members
3(a): When joining a pact, your powers and abilities will all be less effective than normal. This effect is reversed as soon as you leave the pact
4: It is permitted to betray a pact and take their tokens for yourself. However, this comes at the cost of 2 punishments:
4(a): The second you either attack or steal the tokens from any of your pact members (whichever comes first), only half of the other pact members tokens will be available to you, the other half will become completely intangible and impossible to touch for you 4(b): Additionally, you will be branded as a traitor for an hour, signified by a giant red X on your wrist. If you encounter somebody in the Crossroads and you see that they have a red X on their wrist, you will know they are a traitor
Chief...wasn't sure what to make of this. Was this text telling him how these "token" things worked? Was he in some kind of...game or something? No, of course not, that sounded ridiculous. However...he had no idea what was going on and had no memory of how he got where he was, so he couldn't rule out anything completely. Not yet, anyway. ::So...what's your call, cowboy?:: Cortana asked Chief. Chief figured that there were more pressing matters at hand and he didn't have time to worry about this right now. "We just need to figure out where we are and if anyone can find us. We'll figure this out later" Chief responded as he made his way onto the hangar door of the Forward Unto Dawn which made a light metallic groan as he took his first step on it. "We need a vehicle"
Somewhere in the Crossroads, there was an unassuming little building sitting alone. It was a small building, only one story, and had a red neon sign above the door that read "Devil May Cry" in big, cursive lettering. A loud yawn could be heard coming from inside the building, as a young man with long white hair, wearing a pair of brown pants and black boots with no shirt stepped out from the building's bathroom and into the main office. His name was Dante, he had just finished getting out of the shower and was getting ready to go out and kill a demon that a client hired him for yesterday. About time too, he hadn't had any pizza in, like, 3 weeks. He was just about to step outside and get a breath of fresh air when something caught his eye: a piece of paper and what looked like some poker chips left on his desk. Dante thought about this for a second. Did one of his clients leave it there? Did they really think poker chips were a legitimate currency? Hell no, you can't buy pizza with poker chips! Now immensely curious, Dante stepped over to the desk and picked up the piece of paper, hoping it would shed some light on the subject. The paper read:
1: When you enter the Crossroads, you are immediately given 5 poker chip-esque objects called "tokens". These tokens cannot be destroyed, they are completely impervious to any type of method used to destroy them. These tokens are able to be "spent" on the following things:

Dante read through a single rule and scoffed. This was obviously some kind of stupid prank. Some snot nosed kids probably left this on his desk last night or something. Dante paid it no mind and turned around to drop the paper in the trash bin behind the desk. However, just as he did, he happened to catch a glimpse of the outside from the window to his left and noticed something...off about it. It didn't look like the outside he was used to seeing out of the window, usually there was a view of the city streets that Devil May Cry resided in, but...that wasn't there. Instead, when Dante stepped closer to get a better view, he could see that Devil May Cry wasn't even on a city street, but instead was...in some kind of desert? What the hell? Dante stood there stunned for a moment, trying to decide how to even react to this. Confusion? Surprise? Fear? So many emotions and questions raced through his head all at once, but as he did, something just hit him. No city meant no demon or client. No demon or client meant no money, and no money meant...
...no pizza
"Aaaagh!" Dante yelled angrily, as he kicked the door next to the window so hard that it slammed open. "What's a half-demon gotta do to get a damn pizza?!" he shouted to nobody, but loud enough for anyone in the near vicinity to hear him. Alright, he thought, now it was personal. He then quickly walked over to the coat rack to put on his red coat, followed by grabbing the tokens and dropping them in the pocket of his coat. He picked up his sword and his guns, immediately placing them in their holsters with an angry shove, and then stormed his way out of the shop
Peter Parker slowly started to regain consciousness. As he opened his eyes, he expected to see the foot of his bed. Instead, the image that greeted him was the roof of a building, along with a city skyline. Wait, what? This shocked Peter awake immediately, and as he slowly climbed to his feet, he started to notice he was still in his costume. Oh jeez, did he accidentally fall asleep on the top of a building again after his patrol last night? Peter started to feel embarrassed, but before he could follow that line of thinking, he noticed something weird about the city skyline. First of all, it didn't look like the Queens he new at all, the layout was all wrong. But more importantly, out beyond the city limits looked like...well, he could only describe it as a random hodgepodge of things. Directly in front of the city where Peter was facing was a vast desert, but to the left of that it was a patch of snowy woodlands, and then to the other side of the desert looked like...some kind of medieval castle, or something? Peter admitted that this wasn't quite the weirdest thing he had seen in his lifetime, but it certainly came close. Peter started to think, what in the world was going on here? Maybe it was some kind of alien invasion or something? No, that made no sense. Was this Mysterio's doing? He certainly wouldn't put it past the old fishbowl, this was certainly weird enough to be his type of thing. Hmm...maybe it was--
'Ring ring!'
Peter quickly snapped out of his deep thought as he heard his phone alerting him of a text. Oh good, someone was messaging him. Maybe he could ask them for help, or maybe it was a clue as to what was going on. He eagerly pulled out his phone and read the message:
1: When you enter the Crossroads, you are immediately given 5 poker chip-esque objects called "tokens". These tokens cannot be destroyed, they are completely impervious to any type of method used to destroy them. These tokens are able to be "spent" on the following things:

Unfortunately, this only left Peter with even more questions. First of all, he was pretty sure that message was over the character limit. Second of all, what were these so called "token" things it was talking about? He had no idea what was...oh wait a minute, Peter suddenly noticed some poker chip things lying on the ground in front of where he woke up. As he leaned down to pick them up, he noticed they had Spider-Man's face in the center of them. Man this was really freaking weird, Peter thought as he placed these "tokens" or whatever they were in a pouch on his suit, along with his phone
Well, he wasn't gonna get any answers by standing around and being weirded out, Peter figured. He took a running start towards the edge of the building before making a large leap off of it. He let himself drop about 40 feet down the building before using his web shooters to cast a webline at the very top of the building, and using his momentum to swing to the left of the building. As he reached the apex of the swing, he cut off the webline, did a small backwards spin in the air before shooting another web to the building next to him and repeated the process. Peter figured he'd go exploring this bizarre place, hoping it would lead to some answers
Lowkey hope more players will come, but still like what I'm seeing.
I hope so too. What I'm hoping will eventually happen is that we get enough players so that there will be a bunch of individual stories happening independently of each other (which will every once in a while converge into one big climactic fight)
Alright, so we're getting pretty close to starting the RP soon. I'm thinking either later today or early tomorrow (most likely tomorrow), so I feel I should just mention some last minute things that you all should probably keep in mind:
First, I intend for the RP to primarily consist of somewhat relatively small groups for most of the RP (like, between 2-4, maybe 5 characters each). I want it this way because I've done versions of this RP before on another forum, and at one point all the characters (which was about 10) joined together in one group and it was a goddamn clusterfuck. It was impossible to get the entire group to follow along, all the characters were talking over each other, posts were made that constantly contradicted other posts, eugh. Trust me, it was a nightmare. So yeah, try to keep the groups fairly small. That being said, there can be certain moments where everyone can ban together, like if a villain is sending out mass waves of minions throughout the entire Crossroads or something and all the hero characters are trying to group up together to stop it, but try to keep those moments somewhat limited
Second, I would suggest talking to some of your fellow players and hashing out some ideas for interactions you think might be fun (either in the OOC or PMs, either one's fine). Do you think your character and another player's character would make for a really cool fight? Talk to them about it. Do you think you and another player's characters should totally team up and plan to take down a 3rd player's character? Go ahead an tell them. You don't have to do this if you don't want, I just think it might be good to start thinking about what you want to do with your characters before we start, just so everyone isn't wandering around aimlessly at the start of the RP XD
Here's another character. She's technically a good guy, but she's closer to the edge than she realises. The finnicky power is her ability to come back from death. Otherwise she's a magical elven archer with cool light powers. Let me know if there's anything I should change or add!
Name: Eltariel, the Blade of Galadriel) Appearance: Series of origin: Shadow of War Personality: Eltariel is a quiet woman of reserved but friendy disposition. She believes in the rule of right and tries to solve problems non-violently. Once she decides someone deserves to die though she has no qualms executing them. Eltariel is by all means an authoritarian, and follows the commands of those above her usually to the letter. Though recently she disobeyed Galadriel, and suffered dearly for it, and is now trying to redeem herself of her failure. Still, she can be arrogant and dismissive of others and their thoughts, often believing that her cause and those she serves are the truest, highest, and most righteous authority. She has also been fighting one specific fight for a very long time, and when she is out of her comfort zone she tends to flounder in indecisiveness, or make thoughts based on her base instincts rather than her practiced logic. While she does have somewhat of an ego, she also has very low self-esteem and due to the nature of her abilities and existance places very little value on her own life.
Abilities:
Martial Expert: Eltariel is a master of various kinds of weapons, having trained with them and used them for over a thousand years.
Elf: Being an elf, Eltariel does not age. She also has keen hearing and eyesight.
Light of Galadriel: Eltariel wields power granted to her by Galadriel. She can blast out this light in the form of high speed orbs to knock people back and cause them to be inundated with light. She can create kinetic explosions of energy by punching the ground. She can also run at speeds of up to 40 miles an hour once she gets going, and use it to quite literally double jump in the air. It also grants her advanced, supernatural reaction times and environmental awareness, allowing her to percieve the world as if in slow motion. All of these abilities cost focus, and if she uses too many in a row they become taxing on her form and she has to wait to recuperate.
Bow of Lothlórien: Summong an incorporeal bow, Eltariel can loose arrows that travel faster than sound and strike with heat and ferocity. She has ten arrows, and gets more over time or by incinerating evildoers with her light. She can also use two arrows to teleport to a location within one mile of her current location, usually towards her living target.
Undying: Eltariel's life is bound to that of the New Ring, the one she wears on her left index finger. For her, death is literally not an option. There are ancient elven towers in the realm of mordor. Whenever Eltariel is killed, the New Ring will vanish from her body and reappear at the nearest elven tower. There, Eltariel is resurrected back to life on the dawn of the next day. It is an entirely new body, reproducing the weapons and armor she had on her at the time, with all of her memories and experiences intact. Eltariel herself wonders this resurrection is a true resurrection, or if she is just a copy of her soul. In reality it does not matter. Eltariel has died many times on her quest against evil, so the question is moot.
Domination: Eltariel can influence the weak-minded, particularly animals. An enemy must be defeated in order for this to take place, as Eltariel has to place her hand directly on the head of the individual. Those more powerful than her can shrug off the effect entirely, and those under her influence can break free. Mostly she uses it on wildlife to bend them to her will, or on the endless waves of orcs that are attacking Gondor, who care only for violence and can be easily and happily pointed in a different direction. Those who are stern of spirit and mind can shake off her domination. Indeed the person most at risk of succumbing to the New Ring's influence is Eltariel herself, who must continually remind herself of her mission in order to not give into it's inherently evil influence. Weapons and equipment:
Light Scale Mail Armor- Lithe and form-fitting, this armor protects her from damage while keeping her mobility unhindered.
Blades of Galadriel- Two magical sword shorts, enchanted to be unbreakable. They are razor sharp, incredibly well balanced, and Eltariel wields them with expert ease. If she wishes to fight nonlethally, she blunts their edges with her spirit energy, making them more into hard hitting stun guns rather than blades.
The New Ring: The source of her costly immortality. Her right pinky and ring finger have been cut off, the New Ring grants her spiritual, transparent fingers. If the New Ring is removed, Eltariel can be permanenty killed. If there is no elven tower nearby, Eltariel can be permanently killed. As such if there is a risk of the ring being removed she will flee, or kill herself while she still has the Ring on. She can also use the New Ring to meditate and travel back to the nearest elven tower. Character alignment: Lawful Good Other: Eltariel is Lawful Good only because of Galadriel's alignment. She is easily tempted by power, though she tries her hardest to do the right thing she has an ego that can blind her to what that truly means. She has been fighting for a long time, and a small part of her wishes it could all just be over.
edit: oops, i posted right as you did. Yeah, that sounds cool! Even if he technically isn't a demon, I'd argue he still is by way of being such a huge asshole
Hmmm...interesting. On the one hand, it's not necessarily too powerful, cause she can still be over powered and defeated by someone just like anyone else, but at the same time I feel like her being unable to die is...a bit tensionless, I guess? But I guess there isn't really a rule against that, so ultimately I'd say she seems fine
<Snipped quote by tipssyCalibrator>
Apparently yes - according to John Romero and Tom Hall - which also means that one of his ancestors is also Commander Keen.
Basically, B.J. is Keen's Grandfather, and Keen is Doom Guy's father or grandfather.
Huh. Apparently there's a whole Id Software interconnected universe I wasn't aware of, lol
Still a WIP. This may be the final character that I'll start off with in this RP, but nonetheless more will be added down the line.
Name:
| The Doomslayer | Doomguy | B.J. Blazkowicz III | DOOM Marine | DM1-5 | The Slayer | The Unchained Predator | Hell Walker |
Appearance:
Origin Series:
DOOM (2016) Series
Personality:
Abilities:
Weapons & Equipment:
Alignment:
Chaotic Good
Other:
"In (the currently upcoming) "Doom Eternal", players are able to build their Doomslayer from the ground up. Players can customize and upgrade their Doomguy by gaining new weapons, inserting various mods onto said weapons, upgrading said weapon mods ("upgrade your upgrades, with an upgrade"), gaining new abilities through suit mods, and utilizing runes to fit one's play style, amongst others. At the start of the RP, Doomslayer will a near clean slate with only wielding a few starting weapons and potentially a lesser rune. As it goes on however, he will gain more weapons and upgrades to suit his play style within "The Crossroads", becoming the ultimate embodiment of DOOM whilst still being fair game to the other players."
Wait, Doom Slayer is a descendant of BJ Blazkowicz? I didn't know that
This all being said- awesome! I'll move him over. I also have another character with another finnicky ability to send your way for approval soon. Thanks for approving. I know DIO's existence here is on thin ice. I plan on collaborating a lot with the people DIO eventually ends up fighting. Or person. But, since he's not going up against the Joestars, DIO isn't mortal enemies with anyone in the Crossroads so I can see some non-violent interactions taking place.
Hmm...y'know, I think Dante (my character) VS Dio might be a fun matchup (especially cause Dio's a vampire, which arguably makes him a demon, lol). If you had some other plans for him that's cool too, but I just thought it would be an interesting fight
