I am longer RickyG; Toad King was something my son called me when he was, like, 3, as a compliment. I was sitting on a stoop between some little toad statues or something, he thought it was cool.

I'm surprised I'm not seeing more ideas popping up for rp's... I may be forced to try past ideas of my own, again, which I'm sure will go just GREAT...

Bio

Bios are stupid; oh, sure, everyone can see them, but I bet nobody reads them.

Rude hand gestures and shpadoinkle, there.

No, I wasn't drunk when I wrote this, but I was very tired.

Ok, I have an OOC up, here's the link! Looking forward to character submissions, and getting started (hopefully) some time this week!

Curses, sorcery, monsters and all manner of unpleasantness; that's what awaits you!
And all because you just couldn't stay away from that place...

Every town or city has such a place; the source of rumors and urban legends, etc. Neighborhoods have the house the local kids can only run passed, the one that's rumored to be haunted, or the home of a witch, and places where a wide variety of terrible-yet-suspect claims are said to have taken place.

This rp is about one such place; the players, directly or indirectly, get swept up through a series of events and into a great (and at times daunting) modern-day quest! To find everything that's been unleashed, contain them, and bring them back to their rightful place before too much damage is done!

My rules are, in my opinion, reasonable(obviously, follow the rules of the site as well)-

1 character per player; I will handle all extras.

This is an "Urban Fantasy" sort of setting; the supernatural/paranormal is real, and the modern world is unaware of that, so characters aren't going to be experienced monster hunters or anything like that. You're going to have to learn, adapt and adjust over the course of the adventures.

Improv; don't overthink it, write whatever you want, but keep to the limits of good taste, and coordinate with fellow players where they are involved, and before you click "post".

lastly... I'm hoping for a horror/adventure tone. Humor isn't forbidden, just use it sparingly, and read the proverbial room before inserting any levity to a scene.

The character sheet is simple:

Character Name:
Personality: (a paragraph is fine)
Bacground/skills: (again, don't need a life story, and try not to go above 5 skills)
items: (don't write a dnd dungeon crawler's kit, just useful things you might reasonably have on your person at a given time, the rest you procure through roleplay)
Oh, this does sound like a fun premise. Not sure what I'd play or contribute off-hand, but is there room for one more?

Sure!

I'll post a link once I have it ready, everybody.
Well, 2 would be enough.

If y'all are still interested, I'll have an ooc up in a couple of days.
Sounds interesting. Hope others like the idea.

Me too
Y'all ever heard of Friday the 13th... The Series?

The premise is some guy made a deal with the devil to turn around his failing antique store, and thus he was cursed- along with everything else in his shop. When he figured this out, he broke the deal and began searching the world for all the items in the hopes of preventing anyone else getting hurt, and the Series picked up with a couple of his descendents taking on the "family business".

Twenty years ago, I saw a web cartoon whose title I used for this post, and similarly involved a shady antique store with items not meant for casual handling, in more ways than one.

My idea essentially combines the two; the characters find themselves in a position where they are compelled to search for lost items that are supernaturally dangerous to the average person.

I guess there's room for comparison to some other properties as well, but a comprehensive list isn't necessary to illustrate the premise, so please don't comment just to point out series/things I didn't already mention.
I'll check that out, ty.
I mean, that's true no matter how many responses I get
"American" isn't an ethnicity
I think I'm ready to "retire" from rp. Play by Post, at least. tabletop is better anyway.

The last few years have been just one disappointment after another.

None the less, I want to try one last time to have some kind of rp. No fandom, no "write a book for me", just imagination and simple, sustainable back and forth.

I don't care how much someone posts at a time, so long as we're both trying to move a scene/story forward; don't exclusively react to what I'm doing and I won't hate you.

I don't care if you can only post a few times a week, as long as I don't have to prod you into doing it.

The only "fandom" I might make an exception for is Ghostbusters, and only OCs.

SoL isn't something I'm interested in either.

Message me if you think you have a fun idea. One last improv hurrah before I walk away for the last time.
