There's a panhandler who hangs out on the street corner by our dispensary every afternoon with a sign that just says "Green 4 Green?" and tbh, I respect my boy's confidence.

Hobbies: Writing, fitness, driving/exploring, hiking, camping, traveling, tabletop games, anything NEW (I love trying things I've never done before)
Roleplayer Profile

Format: 1x1s only. Maybe I'll try a group RP again someday, but I've never had one last longer than a few months
Posting Speed: Depending on my schedule, I can usually post at least once per week
Favorite Genres: Modern, Historical, Romance, Action/Adventure, Horror/Dark, Fantasy, Slice of Life, Dystopian, can be convinced to write some Sci-Fi
Hard 'no's: Fandoms. Sorry, but I can't maintain interest in characters/worlds I didn't build with my partner

Romantic Relationships: MxF or MxM (currently prefer MxM)
Character Images: Faceclaims or detailed descriptions only. I envision the characters like real people in my mind, so I can't take anime seriously
OOC chat: Yes please! I'm a total extrovert who loves to get to know the amazing minds behind my partners' characters

I love that you call a wall of text a shorter post, haha. I thought it was good!

And I'm fine with carrying over our ideas here :)
As for the ideas you suggested in the pm thread, I like the first two options the best! Azdrei'in would want to keep exploring the area to keep clearing out anything that he thinks could be a threat to his people, so he wouldn't stay put in Artemis's bunker for very long. If there are other immune humans who've formed a group, our characters could run into them at some point. It would be interesting to see what a group of humans would make of seeing a human and an alien together.
Just because Artemis seemed to understand the reason he had for killing humans didn’t mean she was sympathetic to his motives. Azdrei’in watched her carefully as she began to quake beneath his loose grip. There was no better way to tell how prone a creature was to violence than by backing it into a corner. By threatening to kill her, he was experimenting to find out how quickly she might resort to fighting back. It wouldn’t have surprised him if she tried to defend herself. Plenty of other species were faster to fight than they were to flee, including his own. He merely wanted to see how she would react to a blatant threat, curious if she was as savage as the reports on her kind had stated or if she would give him a reason to actually finish her off right then and there.

Instead of fighting back, though, she continued to stand still without even attempting to backpedal or push him away. He studied her pale face while she spoke to him again, intrigued that her first impulse was to continue trying to negotiate with him. This wasn’t the kind of behavior he had expected to witness when he’d encountered a human. He didn’t understand most of what she was saying this time, but the tone of her voice wasn’t hostile. If anything, she almost sounded sad.

As he stood over her, the tension began to ebb from his body. Artemis was different than the image of humans that he’d conjured in his head. She seemed genuinely harmless. The more he thought about it, the more he realized that she had given him no reason to believe she would suddenly turn on him. She had hit him over the head because she had been protecting herself, but she had also tended to his wound and offered him food and drink. As they interacted with each other, he got the impression that she was curious too—just like he was about her kind. She’d had plenty of opportunities to kill him, and yet she had taken care of him and started teaching him her language instead. Those were not the actions of a violent creature.

Just as he had begun to let down his guard, he startled at a sound behind him and tightened his grip on the human’s throat, the tips of his claws digging into her thin skin. He whipped his head around to defend himself if someone else had snuck up behind him, but there was no one there. It appeared that the noise had come from another video on the large screen.

Relieved, Azdrei’in loosened his hold on Artemis again and watched the moving images. At first, he wasn’t sure what Artemis’s purpose had been in showing him this. She wasn’t trying to wriggle out of his grip, so it wasn’t a distraction. However, as the video progressed and delved into something that looked like an artificial method of reproducing, his eyes widened. He wasn’t sure how she had known that his species was dying out, but somehow, she must have figured it out.

If we are able to use this strategy too, it could save us, he realized, his hearts beating faster with excitement. Now more so than ever, he was glad that he hadn’t killed the human. If he had, he never would have stumbled across the information she was sharing with him through the video.

He turned back to her when she spoke again and placed her smaller hand against his. It seemed like she had accepted the thought of dying, but he had made up his mind. Despite his orders, he couldn’t bring himself to bury his claws into the throat of a creature that not only wasn’t fighting back but had also just showed him that she wanted to help his people overcome the problem that was preventing them from repopulating. If she had any information that they could use, she was valuable to him.

He let his hand fall from around her throat. “I won’t kill you,” he decided, echoing the words she had just said to him. A brief pause followed before he punctuated the statement with a curt: “Friend.” His leaders had ordered him to eliminate anything that might be a threat to the Lunvalgan people, and he had determined that she wasn’t a threat. That along with the invaluable knowledge she had about artificial fertility treatments was enough cause for him to let her live. For now, at least. His leaders would ultimately make the final call about what to do with her, but he had a solid case now for abandoning his duties.

Stepping back from her, he walked over to the large screen and gestured at it. He lacked the words to express his questions, so he reached out to her telepathically again, projecting a feeling of curiosity alongside a conceptual vision of a mated pair of Lunvalgans going through with the same procedure. He wanted to know if she thought the method was viable for another species to use. Given that the video had showed humans and another animal, he hoped that meant it was plausible that his kind would be able to replicate it as well. He didn’t know much about fertility, since he’d only been educated about information that warriors needed to know, but he had to think that if the process in the video worked for Lunvalgans too, they might finally be able to escape the threat of extinction.
I got busy for a while, so I'll have to get my next post up tomorrow!

As for the way this part progresses, I don't really have any preferences :) I was thinking you could make most of the decisions as to what happens until they get back to the capital unless you'd prefer me to do it.
I have so many little things I set up a long time ago that I want to weave into the story throughout the next few days cx It's exciting
“It’s nice to know I can still steal something,” Crow teased Penelope breathlessly in return. As he spoke, he shifted his weight to prop himself up more stably on one forearm while he leaned over her. In the back of his mind, he still kept an idle watch of their surroundings, just in case anyone tried to attack them while they were distracted. Alone in the middle of the woods, this was the most vulnerable position they had put themselves in since they’d left the castle. However, he wasn’t terribly concerned about being interrupted. Laying in the grass with the knight, it was hard to think about anything that could go wrong at that particular moment. The peace of the quiet trees and the babbling river was infectious.

When she trailed her fingers over his cheek, he turned his head slightly to kiss her palm. Her soft-spoken words made his heart flutter like they always did, and he smiled against her lips as she kissed him. He couldn’t wait until they would be able to be together like this more often. It would be nice to return to groups without being accused of being irresponsible too. He wasn’t looking forward to being chewed out by Otto when they got back to the inn. Hopefully the baron wouldn’t be so furious that he ruined their night by shouting.

“Speaking of stealing,” he met her gaze again with a mischievous smirk after they parted again. “I might have gotten a little carried away the last time we left the castle…” Feigning a sheepish expression, he sat up again, freeing her from being trapped beneath his weight. He offered her a hand to get up as well and reached into his cloak pocket, digging for the object in question. When they had left the inner kingdom, he’d made sure not to forget it because he had wanted to give it to the lieutenant before they parted ways for two weeks.

“Close your eyes,” he instructed her, his sly smile returning as he grew more eager. “If you want to know what I did, you’ll have to play along. Those are the rules.”

Vail had never felt anything like the surge of energy that coursed through his body as he drained Victoria’s blood. It turned out that his foresight to cut himself before he began feeding had been a smart idea, because as he drank from her neck, his predatory nature overtook him, and he lost sight of why he had bitten her in the first place. His grip tightened on her pale hand, and he buried his fangs as deeply as he could into her flesh. In the back of his mind, he realized why the Wynter they had been fighting had been so impossible to defeat. There was a power to Lady Crest’s blood that was like a strong steroid mixed with cocaine to one of his kind, and it flooded every fiber of his being with fire.

When he swallowed the last drop, he sat up on his heels and caught his breath. A slight tremor had seized his limbs, the byproduct of his excess energy, but the sensation that came with drinking all of Victoria’s blood was euphoric. It was a good thing that vampires had no appetite for the blood of their own species, because if she woke up with the same addicting liquid in her veins, he would have found it difficult not to bleed her dry again and again. He felt invincible after just doing it once.

With a flicker of a glance at Gerald, he slipped his arms underneath the dead woman’s body and lifted her up. She felt feather-light to him, though he couldn’t tell if that was because he’d siphoned all of her blood or because of the strength he’d gained from doing so. Perhaps it was both. Regardless, he held her close to his torso and followed Jean-Claude through the back door to the waiting carriage, keeping watch for any Wynters along the way. Now that Victoria had passed, there was nothing left for the other vampires to get from her, but he wouldn’t have put it past them to run silver through her heart out of spite. If there was even a sliver of a chance that she would wake up again, he was going to do everything in his power to keep her body safe from harm. He wasn’t ready to lose her for good.

Setting her down in the carriage with Diana and Jean-Claude, who sat in the middle to keep the widow from laying eyes on her daughter’s corpse, Vail remained outside the wagon as they took off for Scotland. There were still Wynters nearby. Some of them had even begun pursuing the vehicle to catch them before they could get away, so the Hygrace heir made it his personal mission to keep the other vampires from getting inside the cabin. It was shockingly easy for him too. With more than four liters of Victoria’s blood in his system, he felt like his enemies were moving in slow motion. Every sense and reflex was heightened, and any time one of his rivals managed to injure him, the wound healed almost instantaneously. At that moment, unless he was stabbed in the heart with silver, he was untouchable. It was an exhilarating feeling.

The other vampires seemed to realize it too. After he fought off a little less than a dozen of them, they began to back off, and he turned around to chase after the carriage, climbing into the seat beside the coachman as they fled from the fallen Crest manor.

--

Over the course of the following week, Vail remained busy. The effects of Victoria’s blood sacrifice lingered far longer than he had expected so, taking advantage of the temporary bolster, he returned to England after she had been safely spirited away to her relative’s home in Scotland. The words of the Wynter who had attacked him had stuck with him, and he wanted to make sure that his family was still alright. However, to his dismay, he’d come back to a manor devoid of anything but a few corpses that belonged to some of his cousins—and one lone thief from another clan who’d had the misfortune of taking the brunt of the vampire’s rage.

After that, he had left his home behind to search for survivors, whom he eventually found taking shelter in a farm on the outskirts of the city. The sight of them had been startling. Only a few of his cousins had survived the slaughter along with his parents, and they were all in poor shape. Worst of all was Peter. According to his mother, the leader of their clan had been permanently crippled by a Wynter named Mikael—most likely the same culprit who had broken Victoria’s body, he presumed—but even more destructive than the damage to his body had been the wound to his mind. The Hygrace patriarch was barely responsive. Even when Vail urged him to bring what was left of their clan to the safe house where he’d taken Victoria, Peter wouldn’t do anything but stare vacantly ahead and repeat that there was no point; that they were all going to die anyway. The Wynters were too strong, and he wasn’t capable enough to protect his family from them.

Seeing his father in such a state had been unnerving to Vail, but he knew that he couldn’t leave them in the barn. The Wynters would want to finish them off while they were still weak. So, breaking a tradition that had been founded thousands of years ago, he took charge of their diminished clan against Peter’s wishes and brought them all to Scotland. Unlike the last time he’d tried to lead them, the other vampires actually listened. They had been made homeless and feared for their lives, so they were quick to jump at the prospect of a place where they could go to escape the clan that had dethroned them, even if that meant allowing themselves to be led by him instead of Peter.

The journey back was slow but successful. Twice, they encountered Wynters prowling the city streets to kill any enemies they came across, but Vail dispatched them easily. The other vampires couldn’t stand up to him as long as he was still fueled by the effects of Lady Crest’s blood. He protected his clan effortlessly, preventing the Wynters from taking any more Hygrace lives and establishing himself as a trustworthy leader among his family. By the time they made it to the property in Scotland, he had grown comfortable directing his cousins and his mother, and they had accepted him as their patriarch as long as Peter was unfit to govern them.

After he’d helped the other Hygraces settle into a summer house on the edge of the estate, Vail spent each remaining day by Victoria’s side, waiting for her to wake up. Diana and Jean-Claude had set her up in her own room, with her cold body lying on a bed as if she was merely asleep. The Hygrace heir had pulled a chair up to the edge of the furniture and alternated between sitting there next to her and climbing onto the mattress to lay by her side. He found it surreal to see her like this. The lively woman he’d fallen in love with was now nothing more than a lifeless husk. He knew it had taken a toll on Diana as well. Sometimes, he heard the widow weeping, but he had yet to shed a tear, himself. As difficult as it was to envision her limp corpse coming back to life, he held out hope that the turning ritual would be a success and that he would see her again.

So, on the last day of her dance with death, he had laid down beside her body yet again with one arm draped over her torso, slumbering lightly while sunlight filtered in through the window. Since the battle, he’d reverted to a nocturnal rhythm, but even in his sleep, he refused to part from her. He guarded her body like a dragon guarded its hoard of gold, waiting with endless patience for her to stir.

And then the time finally came.

His hazel eyes fluttered open as he felt the thump of a single heartbeat in her chest.
That's the nice thing about the freedom of choice on this site. Those who enjoy fandoms can write fandoms, while those who prefer to create their own worlds can do that too. Fandoms might outweigh "original" content, but it isn't like original stuff doesn't exist. Similar to Penny, I've got 7 ongoing 1x1 RPs that are all fully original in the sense that my partners and I built the worlds, ourselves. You can find topics that interest you if you look hard enough - or make the thread.

There aren't. But people have a tendency to post about lewd interest checks in the status bar which is like advertising for your competitor and not even getting paid.

That's because they're horny
<Snipped quote by Summer>

I couldn't agree more and 99 percent of my RP is done 1x1. Its faster, its cleaner and as a general rule the writing is better. I also dislike fandoms and certainly would never want to right as a cannon character.

Yeah, I've found the same thing. Also, my 1x1s aren't as quick to fizzle. I switched because a group RP I was invested in five or six years ago died, and I ended up continuing it with one of the other members as a 1x1. Since then, I've gotten hooked on how much easier it is to world build with a partner and create a whole cast of amazing characters without waiting ages in between posts for five other people to participate.

I know some people prefer large groups though, so to each their own. I just wanted to make sure the knowledge is out there that the 1x1 section is an option to look for original content.

Maybe it has but when I open 1x1 it's like Isekai Kink RP or Mommy enslavement Harem that mostly dominates the section itself. Some people have LEWD original ideas, but not the OG SFW ideas us normal folk enjoy

As a non-smut writer myself, I can promise you some of us are normal xD Usually people will include their interest in the topic name, so you can avoid the kinky threads if that isn't what you're looking for
