The Lady and the Deity

Emily barely paid attention to any whistling. She kept to herself in her apartment. She would notice buttered flavored popcorn quickly enough. But....she was not feeling very hungry. She took one bite but that was it. She hid the tin away somewhere. She sighed a bit and went back to bed. She had awoken with an impulse for a midnight snack, but that was gone now.

She went back to bed, like what was said. She tried to go back to sleep. Her memories were her dreams, which happened once in a while, again. It felt like just a usual night for her. She had a bad feeling though. She was not sure why. She tried to shake it off so that she could have a good nights' sleep.

Emily would be hesitant to get the pop corn. She hated sweet things by nature, food that is. She would instead just get butter flavored popcorn. She would leave the tin outside. Then, she would return to her apartment. She would remain in there for the rest of the evening/night. It was her home after all.

She was tired. She needed sleep. She sighed. She yawned. She rubbed her eyes a bit. Emily decided to get ready for bed, which she did. Then, she would go to bed, tired. She was quite tired.

Emily had not wanted any pets. She still didn't. She certainly did not want a dog that was for sure. She blinked and frowned when she finally looked at the dog.

"Shoo....go away....please."

She backed away. She headed for a building nearby. It was an apartment building. She would go inside and quickly shut the door closed. It would separate her and the dog. She would head right for her apartment.

"What is going on?"
She thought that out loud.

Emily blinked. She glanced around. She thought she heard something. She frowned and narrowed her eyes for a time. She sighed and shook her head after a bit.
"I must be hearing things."
She spoke that thought out loud.

She continued to sip her drink. She thought about everything that happened that day. It all felt so....odd. She was not sure what to say, or what to think. She was still confused and everything.

She would remain at that cafe for a little while longer. After an hour or so, she would finally leave. She would decide to head back home. She did not notice the stray dog.

Emily walked down the street. She continued to try and calm herself. She had no idea what was going on. She was highly confused. She kept trying to think. The moments would pass as she did so. She was dead silent as she was lost in her own thoughts during that time. She frowned a bit. She sighed a bit as well.

She took a breath. She held her books close. She barely kept from stumbling at times. She managed to make it to the nearest café quickly enough. She went inside. She was going to have something to drink and warm up. After that, she would have a seat at a table by a window. She would look out the window as she continued to be lost in her own thoughts.

Some men would actually look at her. But, she did not notice. She rarely ever noticed that sort of thing anymore. She sipped her drink and kept to herself. She moved a strand of hair out of her face. The books she had checked out where on the table, right in front of her.

Angel ended up being hurt a bit. She winced. But, she did not move. She would soon approach the man. Her eyes were narrowed.

Emily did not notice the man at first. She was simply walking down the street. She was not paying much attention at the moment. She, then, nearly bumped into him. She gasped. She took some quick steps back. She blinked, a bit startled. She was silent for a moment, trying to catch her breath. There were no words to be said just then.

Anyway, quickly enough, she did managed to catch her breath. She finally looked at whomever was standing in front of her like that. She blinked again and frowned. She sighed a bit. She hated it when others startle her like that. But, then, she paused. She was confused. Where had he come from? She could have sworn that nobody had been heading in her direction either way. The sidewalk had been completely empty when she had left the library.

Then, she heard his question.
"......."
She took a deep breath. She pointed behind her. She had pointed in the direction of the library.

"Um....that way....sir."
She felt a bit nervous all of a sudden. She quickly began to walk away after she had answered him like that.

Emily wondered down the street. She had stopped by the library to return a few books. She glanced around while the librarian did her job. She sighed, a bit bored. The minutes would pass slowly up until the librarian was done. Then, Emily would pick out a few books and check them out. She would leave the library after that.

She was alone. She did not go there with anyone. Emily had not felt the need to have anyone accompany her. She felt that she could do such things by herself. She was that kind of girl. She took a breath and simply walked down the street, trying not to think of anything but the new books she just checked out, and maybe stopping by a café or something like that.

Emily, an independent fairly nerdy girl, did not know that this day would be different. How it would be different would be determined quite soon. Until then, it would be like any other day for her.
