Stop being passive aggressive. Just be aggressive.

It is certainly not 'optimal', but it *is* doable, depending on what you want to do with it. You could go swords or valor bard and play them more like a warrior with some magical ability

Agent Jacob McCalister

Male - 45

Appearance
A middle aged man that appears perpetually tired, but always clean, Jacob stands in at 6'3", putting him typically several inches taller than the majority of others. Jacob has a sinewy build and broad shoulders, but is neither bulky nor lanky. His dark brown hair is short and out of the way, with the odd streak of gray and somehow manages to appear neat, yet casually unkempt at the same time; and his chin occasionally sports a stubble that is likely several days old. His eyes are a sharp gray, his piercing gaze analytical and critical but belie a lurking sadness. His facial features are strong and defined, and his mouth is often pressed into a thin line. His strong facial features and build would lead one to believe that in his heyday, many would consider Jacob fairly attractive, though years of work and being a single father have clearly taken its toll.

Most of Jacob's wardrobe consists of well fitting, slim suits, mostly black and gray often with a monochrome tie. The vast majority of Jacob's footwear are leather dress shoes, clean and professional enough to wear with his suits, but comfortable enough to walk or do activity in for days on end. Jacob wears a leather shoulder holster over his shirt, and typically makes no effort to hide it. On his left hand Jacob wears a silver wristwatch, along with a golden wedding band on his ring finger. He keeps a picture of his daughter in his wallet.

Profession: Lead Investigator
Nationality: Roslin Federation
Strengths:

  • Work Ethic: None can deny Jacob's almost excessive devotion to his work- once he's put on a case, he rarely ever stops. Jacob sports a clearance rate of 80%, near unheard of numbers for investigators.
  • Perceptive: Naturally keen-eyed, Jacob makes sharp notes of most details, and can easily pick
  • Savvy: Street savvy and smart, Jacob knows his way around streets, and does especially well at night, when most decent folk have called it a night- his stature and attitude often give the seedy types pause. As an investigator, Jacob is capable of many tasks, from surveillance, to opening doors that aren't meant to be opened, and even a bit of interrogation. He's no slouch with a firearm, and can keep up with the best of them.

Weaknesses:

  • Vices: Jacob is a smoker, and smokes several cigarettes a day. Despite his good shape, and regular workout habits, its clear that the years of smoking have taken a toll on his overall stamina. Jacob has also been starting to develop a drinking habit, and has begun using cigarettes and alcohol as a vice.
  • Single Parent: While unable to spend a lot of time with his daughter, it is clear to many that his life revolves around her. Jacob is extremely protective of his daughter, and will often react aggressively when something involving her well-being seems to be threatened.
  • Jaded: Jacob has seen a lot in his life, and he is slow to trust, and has a rather cynical outlook on life.

Personal Effects: Several, sets of suits, both designer and workplace suits, a personalized leather shoulder holster, and a custom Field and Sons Killinger Series XII.

Prosthetic and Cybernetic enhancements:

  • Smart-Vision: a high grade cybernetic implant implanted directly on the irises, these implants give Jacob the perks of a multi-function HUD while in his field clothes. Useful for when in civilian clothes or on duty, Jacob can receive accurate and precise readouts about her situation and others. Neural wiring allows her to manipulate the HUD without need of buttons and vocal commands. The implant is fairly common and is very unintrusive as far as cybernetic enhancements go. When activated, one can see the lines of data, crosshairs, etc crossing over the irises. Jacob's set is further enhanced to provide advanced targeting data when using a firearm.

Bio:
Born and raised in Seattle, Jacob Mcalister was born the oldest son to the Seattle police officer, and a doctor. His childhood was not one of major note, he went to public school, got relatively good grades, got into a few scraps, and eventually went to a University to study Criminal Justice. He graduated from his university when he was 22 and got a job with the Seattle police department as a police detective. He met the woman of his dreams shortly afterwards, and got married at the age of 28. 4 years later, his daughter was born. The family lived a rather mundane life, with a small house in the suburbs, plain and quiet, but happy.

Jacob proved to be an excellent detective, sharp witted, and boasting one of the highest clearance records in Roslin Federation history. He had been recommended for higher positions many times over, but declined every time. He liked working the field, he got things done, and put away criminals. Needless to say, many criminal organizations were not a fan of Mcalister and his effectiveness. For the most part, Jacob paid caution, but no particular mind to the mutterings and rumors of crime syndicates.

At least not until 3 years after his daughter was born.

One late night, as Jacob was returning home from a long night at the police department, he found the front door to his house unlocked and ajar. Rushing to into his home, Jacob found the house a mess, with signs of obvious struggle. In the living room, he found his wife dead, shot twice in the the chest. Jacob's life spiraled apart after that. The next several years of his life Jacob spent scouring the criminal underworld for his wife's killer, and put away- and down, countless numbers of mobsters and organized crime members. He nearly lost his own life three times before he finally found the man that killed his wife- and put a bullet between his eyes, earning himself a lengthy leave period from the Seattle PD.

It was during this leave period Jacob was picked up by the Genesis program- interested in his abnormally high clearance rate, the program offered him a spot on one of the Arks, which Jacob almost turned down before they offered accommodations for his daughter as well. Begrudgingly agreeing, Jacob was transferred directly to the Vitae, and spent a year getting oriented with the ship and its new crew.

Jacob now resides in the Vitae with his eight year old daughter, working as the Vitae's lead investigator, head of a small team of 10.

Code Word:Pears?
@Draken I imagine the HUB will have gravity- I meant specifically the Hangar would most likely have 0g. Why worry about your expensive spacecraft falling out of their slots in the hangar? And traversing the extremely wide hangar would be a lot easier if you could just travel in a straight line instead of pfft, walking everywhere. Besides, all the pilots wear EVA harnesses anyway.
Within minutes, Sara's belongings were in her locker, and her EVA Harness was strapped around her chest. It was an annoying, bulky thing that fit over the body in a similar manner to football pads, but considerably more expensive. Essentially a modern-day jetpack, the EVA Harness was meant to allow pilots to move in zero-G situations, such as the vacuum of space outside the safety of their mothership. The EVA Harness mounted a multidirectional mini thruster on the back and shoulders, connected to the legs, and had an inner lining that acted as an airbag when necessary. The Harness provided a pilot with approximately 90 minutes of breathable atmosphere, and was protected by a laminated metal plates that provided pilots with protection near the level of military grade body armor- albiet with an atmosphere.

Jogging out of the lockers, Sara jogged three steps towards the middle of the hangar before she realized that the ship was still on the ground, and therefore still in gravity. With a slight sigh, Sara made her way to one of the hangar's lifts, where several pilots were beginning to crowd around. Until they got into space, they were stuck using lifts to get to the upper cells of the hangar. Luckily for them, the lifts were built to help move around materials, and had plenty of space for multiple pilots at a time. Unluckily for them, the mechanics were still trying to load ammunition and materials into the fighters, and the pilots were stuck fighting with the crews for space on the lift.

Finally scrambling across the catwalk- her boots clanging heavily against the metal, and sliding herself over the hood of a loading vehicle in her fighter's cell, she gave a quick nod to her crew chief as she went up the ladder, several rungs at a time, and slid herself into her fighter, making her 5 minute ready time by the second on the dot. Unsurprisingly, she was the first in her squadron to be in their fighter- several of the other pilots were stuck in the bottleneck that was one of the fighter lifts. Seeing this, her crew chief took the time to climb up the ladder and rap on the side of her cockpit.

"In a rush Hawkins?" asked the bulky crew chief, with a slight chortle as he peered over his datapad.

"No, why do you ask?" Sara replied with a pant, brushing some hair out of her way, and cradling her helmet in her lap.

"Anyway, it looks like you guys and the Barracudas pulled the short straw, command wants you guys in the pipe first in case we face enemy contact. To that end, all of the 7th Squadron's T-22s have been outfitted with a magazine of explosive shells, and a spare magazine loading armor-piercing semi-explosive slugs. Thats a whole 60 seconds of uninterrupted fire, Hawkins- don't waste it."

"Copy that," Sara said with a low whistle as she synced her Smart-Vision to her ship's systems, the cannons and ammunition display appearing as if in 3d space between her and her fighter's actual console.

"We're also swapping out the Serpent Missile pods- All T-22s are gonna be outfitted with 6 Trebuchet anti-ship missiles, They'll serve you a lot better than Serpents if shit does hit the fan."

Sara nodded as the missile indicators also appeared in her Smart-Vision. Settling into her seat, Sara cracked her neck and rolled her shoulders before she slipped on her helmet and sealed herself inside her suit. She had a bit of time left, the ship wouldn't launch until the alert fighters were nestled into the catapults- just in case. Flipping switches inside her cockpit, Sara switched her ship into Standby mode. A modern marvel, the T-22 fighters were among the most agile, and technologically advanced ships in the Navy's arsenal- while nowhere near as robust as the older T-18 Fighters that they trained with, the T-22 was a highly capable, and deadly machine in the right hands.

As her fighter powered to life, she noticed several biosignatures also popping onto her Smart-Vision, her other squadron members. As their fighters were coming online, the giant arms in the hangar began picking up fighters and transporting them to the catapults. Sara's own crew chief stepped away and slapped the side of her fighter as the arms picked up her fighter with a slight jostle. "Grave Robbers, sound off." Sara called through her comms as her fighter was carried through the hangar.

"Crowley, standing by."
"Simms, standing by."
"Thomas, ready to kick some ass."
"Loch, telling Thomas to shut the hell up."
"Adams, standing by."
"Lin, standing by."

Opening a line with the CAG, Sara reported her squadron clear to go. Moments later, there was a slight thump, as the latches holding the Vitae released, and the ship began its ascent into space. Sara quietly muttered a prayer to herself- it was an Armani thing. They weren't particularly religious by any means, but something about launching a ship for the first time deserved such, to many Armani. Finishing that, she patched her Smart-Vision into the window-feed, and watched their takeoff. Some of the other pilots did the same, others sat in their heavily armed coffins and waited for the order to deploy- if the order came. The Devastators were coming, so they were leaving.
I'll get something to move us along tomorrow
Still have my character concept... and as much as I like this RP, I might have to back out- I don't have the time necessary to give this RP the attention it deserves.
Elijah Quaid

Peering over the streets and looking at the oil-sleet as it came from the sky, Elijah scrunched his nose in disgust. He was used to weather like this back in Midgar, but it didn't mean he had to like it. His little loft room was only lightly decorated, with little more than a bed, a few chairs, and a table with a map of the city over it. It wasn't really his room as much as it was the Revolution's. Kaidan and his group of rebels had set up Elijah as soon as he had arrived in the city- at first it was to see if they could hold him prisoner to use against his father- An Asgardian invasion, magically razed safehouse, and several broken bones later, the Revolutionaries decided he might be more useful contributing his knowledge to their cause. While technically an outsider and an Asgardian to boot, Elijah had earned the trust of Kaidan's right hand Berrick, and for many, that was good enough.

The past few weeks they had been laying low, as they had been focusing on building safehouses and securing secret routes rather than perform raids on Asgardian targets- as a result, Elijah wasn't needed for as many of these operations. Thus, Elijah had spent the better part of the last few days sitting in the loft, grumpily leering at passerbys on the streets below, and writing out more detailed specs on Asgardian unit tactics and gear, and how to overcome them using unconventional tactics and equipment. If some of the other revolutionaries didn't like him, they at least liked what he brought to the table- information, and potent manaweaving- there were scant few amongst the revolutionaries, and none could keep up with him.

He wasn't the only one confined to loft, some of the other revolutionaries had been stuck in the safehouse with him- too much movement caused the Asgard patrols to notice more. Some three other revolutionaries lounged around the room, one sleeping, the other two playing cards. There were a few more downstairs on the ground level, working as a pair of watchmakers, for appearances' sake.

The relative silence of the loft was broken by the sudden banging of boots on wooden steps as a man sprung upstairs, startling the loft's population, and drawing more than one firearm in his direction. Disarming themselves as they recognized the man as one of their runners, the courier breathed a sigh of relief and handed the letter over to Elijah.

"Your eyes only, kid." the courier said with a pant, shooting a pointed look at the other rebels. Elijah nodded as he ripped open the letter and quickly scanned its contents.

"So? What's the job? What're we going to do?"

"Well, I'm going to an undisclosed location. You guys can wait here until I'm back." Elijah said calmly as he stood up and grabbed his battlecoat. Gracefully pulling the coat on, Elijah picked up an ivory sword hilt from the table and slipped it into his belt. Without another word, he quickly went downstairs and left the building.

Pulling his hood over his head, Elijah walked down the street with confidence, the magic treating on his coat repelling the oil-sleet as he walked by. The coat had long since had any insignia on it removed, and while still clearly of high quality and rarity, was not so out of place in Tyberia's more expensive neighborhoods, which incidentally was where Elijah was headed.

As he approached the address given to him, he saw two men standing in front of the door, speaking to the butler. They said that they were here for a repair job, but their manner of dress- at least to Elijah marked them immediately as those who involved themselves on the opposite side of the law- not unlike most of the other revolutionaries. Well, at least he had the right place.

Elijah calmly and easily walked up to the door, walking past both men and the butler without a word to either. No sense making up fake shop talk if they all knew why they were here. Walking into the dining room, where Kaidan, Oscar, Ada, and the prominent nobleman Lyle sat. Nodding respectfully to Oscar and Kaidan, and cautiously to Ada, Elijah took a seat at the opposite end of the table, where four chairs had been arranged for him, and he assumed, three others.
@RisenDead I'm also reading this off a phone during the middle of class, so Im only looking at major details, not looking for plays on words.
@RisenDead not sure of Whoami's position on new entries, but I'll tell you right off the bat, no one with a "legendary" skill is going to be accepted into this RP. It is simply too much power and influence for a character to have relative to the scale of this conflict.
Should be about finished with my character some time today
