Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

Glad to see so much interest! ^_^

I'll be judging bios when they're finished. Speaking of which, I need to do Ayaka's backstory. ^^;
SEED does have something to do with the candidates who aren't Tokyo natives being there, at least in cases where there wasn't another reason. It's much more gentle then just grabbing them though. Paid trips to Tokyo, invitations, that kind of thing.
The RP will start shortly before the first Nephilim attack. SEED will be introducing the girls to the MagiGear and their abilities.
They always head for Japan whenever they appear, for reasons that are relevant to the plot. The first went all over the world before going there, though.
@ERode: There's not currently a set number, and for the convenience of the RP all magical girls should have some reason to be in Tokyo even if they don't live there normally. For distribution natively, well... most are in Japan for reasons that are plot relevant.

@KiltmanBagz: When she's finished I'll look her over.
Bio edited. ^^; Backstory still needs to be filled in up there's a good example of abilities now.
That would be fine, yes.
@KiltmanBagz: Well, powers would probably be... stuff like, say, remotely controlling magitech laser cannons. The magical part is how this technology is capable of functioning using magic as a source of power and firing lasers and even getting more powerful with higher confidence levels and that kind of thing.

Name: Musashibo Ayaka
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Appearance: In MagiGear.
Personality: Ayaka is the type to take things aggressively seriously. Her schoolwork, her sports, she's pretty serious about it. Not that she can't relax and calm down otherwise, that's certainly not the case. But when it comes to what she feels is her duty, or something important to her, she's very serious about it. Ayaka can also be rather irritable, insulting others if they get her angry enough and tending to react with great irritation to perceived stupidity. Of course, this is actually because she wants others to be safe and sensible rather then just wanting to insult others. Ayaka can also be rather taunting towards others, something of a tease when she's not annoyed or doing something she feels is serious. Ayaka is driven by a will to succeed and do her best, to keep going and never stop. She does not accept failure from herself.
Brief Backstory: Ayaka was born to a pair of researchers who worked with Kawaguchi Genji on his radical new systems and technologies. Both parents had a high drive for success and were highly intelligent, things they instilled into their daughter from a young age. Especially her father, who encouraged her to always do her best and never accept failure. Her father's drive led to him remaining with Doctor Kawaguchi as he hastily worked to complete his weapon against the Nephilim. Her mother, too, remained. While her mother was injured, but alive after the following attack by the Nephilim, her father disappeared. Since then, Ayaka's drive to succeed has grown even further, to respect the wishes of her disappeared father and her still-present mother and excel beyond anyone else. Her mother has received word from SEED, recently, about something very, very important...
Abilities: Ayaka is a member of the tennis club and is excellent academically.
Powers: Ayaka has high-levels of self-confidence, resulting in a high level of synchronicity for her MagiGear. As with all magitech girls, she is capable of flight in her MagiGear, and her personal ability is the generation of lasers independent of her MagiGear, currently rather small. As per usual, MagiGear is still required to actually make use of this ability, but her weapon is not. Ayaka's MagiGear, labeled Demolition Girl, is decently durable and allows for quick motion.
Weapon(s): Ayaka's weapon is a large sword, charged with energy and capable of dealing a great deal of damage when used as both a slashing or piercing attacks. It has a second mode, where the blade opens and unfurls and it transitions to a fully-ranged energy cannon, producing thick beams of magical energy that tear through opponents. The modes are called Sword Form and Blast Form, respectively, triggered by a voice command.

Work in progress, hopefully will have her up as an example sometime soon.
Not as dark as Evangelion, but playing itself seriously with some lighthearted bits and humor, and definitely taking some inspiration from Evangelion.
It's funny you should notice that, one of the inspirations actually was Evangelion. ^^;

1. The ability to be one is something innate that will be relevant later, the power level of a magitech girl is variable depending on the girl's self-confidence and synchronization with the gear(which has a lot to do with self-confidence).

2. Not as of yet, they don't.

3. Hm. I'm not entirely sure what kind of comparison I have in mind. I suppose I'd compare it to Nanoha(not the Nanoha supermodes, though) to start with? Not that we'll stay there as things go on.

4. Each Nephilim is unique, but for the most part it will probably take more then one magitech girl to take them out.

5. Again, each Nephilim is unique, so that depends. However, no conventional weapons are going to actually kill one, though they can help give the magitech girls a better chance. Nukes probably would be an absolute last resort, if anything.
