Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

Saten Ruiko always believes the most logical and realistic of rumors.
Saten Ruiko

Ruiko folded her arms across her chest, quite proud of her conclusions... and then Uiharu started looking through Esper profiles on the computer. Naturally, Ruiko leaned over beside her to peer at the screen and get a good look at who might be the culprit... even if she was still sure it was like the rumor said, and it was some kind of ghost doing all the knocking out and powering up and that kind of thing. A few bios went by, until the person who seemed most likely came up.

"... Huh, so he's dead?" Ruiko inclined her head to the side slightly as she mused on the deceased nature of the culprit. Well, that made things a bit different... of course, that meant... "So he can't be the culprit..."

The black-haired girl straightened and folded her arms with a smile. "Unless he's the ghost!"

Misaka Mikoto

So the most likely perpetrator was dead, then? Or... at least, recorded as dead. Part of Mikoto couldn't help but question it. Was this the work of the Dark Side of Academy City again? They could have altered the records... No, no, she couldn't just assume it was something like that. Though if it was...

There would be a way to stop it. There had to be a way she could stop it. Even if it wasn't the work of someone in that darkness, she'd find some what to stop it then, too. Just trying to force these kinds of things on students in the city... what kind of person thought of something like that? What kind of person though something like that was okay? Mikoto felt she knew the answer to that question, but deep inside she knew she couldn't stop questioning it.

Mikoto's serious expression faded somewhat when she noticed that the black-haired girl was still trembling and panicking. The experience must of really shaken her... She just kept looking down, too, somewhere near Kuroko's legs. The poor girl really must be terrified. She smiled at her.

"It's okay, you're safe now," said Mikoto, "So don't worry about that guy."
Name: Ando Toshiko
Age: 28
Appearance: She's a bit of a blatant expy. ^^;
Personality: Toshiko enjoys spending life with people she cares about, and generally makes for fairly pleasant company. However, she will change her behavior depending on the situation. When talking to employees, she is friendly, calm, and kind. When speaking with a perpetrator, for example, she makes a drastic change, approaching cruelty. In addition, it is not difficult to rouse her to anger and she has a remarkable lack of patience for someone who has taken a profession as a detective. When sufficiently angered, she will remove her glasses and and begin taking things extremely seriously. She enjoys cigarettes and seems to have something against organizing her office. Toshiko's ultimate goal is to attain immortality, as well as ensure no-one causes too many problems that interfere with having a pleasant life. Toshiko is terrible with money and spends incredibly frequently, sometimes on magical items and other times on things she simply thinks are interesting.
Abilities: Toshiko has Fire as her Affinity. As such, she is highly skilled in spells relating to fire. She is capable of casting spells by "carving" symbols in the air using a lit cigarette. Notable among her spells is an Instant Ignition spell. While it requires a full magic circle to be "carved" in the air, it will instantly ignite a target. As Toshiko's affinity is fire, she is also skilled with spells involving "consumption", "ignition", and "destruction". In addition, she has learned spells outside of her affinity. These spells are primarily wards and illusions, which she uses to conceal the Fu Sonzai no Gensō building from the eyes of regular humans.
Weapons/Equipment: Toshiko has a great deal of cigarettes with her at almost all times. Not only does she like them, but they aid her casting. She also has a suitcase, though she doesn't actually use it to store any important items... She says it houses something interesting and leaves it at that.
Brief Backstory: Toshiko was born into the Ando family, a family of magi with the goal of accessing the plane of existence the gods dwell on. Early in life, Toshiko was mentored in magic by her grandfather. When she reached her late teens, she was sent to a Mage Circle in London to train. It was here that she chose to abandon her family's goal, firmly believing it to be unattainable. While her family was initially outraged by her decision, they eventually relaxed and came to accept their daughter. This was, in part, because Toshiko's sister had not displayed the same desire to give up. Deciding to pursue the goal of immortality, Toshiko returned to Japan and founded the Fu Sonzai no Gensō detective agency in an effort to ensure pleasant life wasn't disrupted. Also to make money.

"Welcome to the employee lounge."

Toshiko picked up several papers and used them to fan the dust off the table in the center of the room.

"Make yourself at home."
Dlanor A. Knox – The Museum World

The Red Key hissed as it bit into the tiles. So he had managed to roll out of the way... Dust clung to the crimson blade as she swiftly drew it from the ground, in time to see the armored man raised his hand and fire off a blast of energy at her. The shot washed over her immediately, striking her in the chest. The force would likely have caved her chest in if she was not an Angel of the Lord. As it stood, the wind was knocked out of her and the force knocked her back two steps, sending a painful, yet easily-ignored sensation through her. It also cast up a cloud of dust from the floor again, shrouding her target from her.

For a moment, at least. Taking a deep breath, she raised her golden arm and waved away the debris cloud, advancing from it. The Red Key glowed as it escaped the dust as well, visible even through it.

"Evading your fate... is USELESS..."

Dlanor took a step forward, slamming her foot down before lunging towards her opponent, swinging the Red Key in an arc aimed to decapitate him.
I'm not actually sure we have many characters from pre-industrial societies who haven't already been around in the multiverse for a while, so I'm fairly sure that would explain it.
Okay, I've noticed some people seem to think I was planning this with Rain or something.

I wasn't, I wasn't even sure it was a good idea but it's the only place that's not very crowded for a new character to show up at.

Whatever I do with the NPC(still working on that) is going to be completely independent of if Rain decides to have Mokou show up anywhere in particular.

I'm fairly certain Rain's reasoning was that Mokou can't die so even if things go south in their interaction any violence would probably end comically rather then death, because... yeah Mokou can't die.
Dlanor A. Knox – The Museum World

A small part of Dlanor's mind wondered how the armored man could jerk his body in such a way to make that maneuver possible. But the rest was preoccupied with his impending death, the execution she was certain would be arriving soon. There were other enemies nearby, but for now she was focused on her current opponent. She would systematically kill them starting with this one. Has his fist hurtled towards her hand, she raised her golden hand, and the armor clanked as she latched onto his fist. He would have to be smarter then that to manage to harm her.

"This inquisition is approaching its END!"

With that, she swung her hand downwards to fling him towards the ground, enough force behind her throw to make him crash to the ground and crack the tiles beneath him. In the same motion, she raised up the Red Key and prepared to swing it down and bisect the armored man with a single stroke.
