Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

Still need to get that NPC written, eh-heh.
Charlotte Dyer

Charlotte tilted her head to the side, hearing the voices of the hazmat-suited men from over her wall of brambles. That was funny. If their motivations were pure, what was with all the gunfire and hostility going on?

"Hey, hey," she began, glancing back towards the wall of brambles, "If you were just going to lock him up so he has some quiet time to himself, that'd be grand. But I don't like all this 'control him' stuff. Not one bit."

She heard an ugly hissing sound from her wall of brambles, and the acrid smell of burning plant matter, diving away as boiling fluids exploded from her slowly-deteriorating wall of thorns. Well, that was that, wasn't it? She hadn't expected it to last, though, and it was slowing down his progress. A dark, purple magic circle materialized in the palm of her right hand, the lines interconnecting to form various designs in mana as she pointed her palm towards Meltdown.

It wouldn't do much damage, but...

The bolt of dark magic hurtled towards the superhuman.

Blast Girl

Blast Girl smiled proudly, jerking her thumb towards her chest as the worker correctly identified her. There was a moment to be a bit proud now, wasn't there? She'd get right on helping everyone else out, though! That was the really important part. "That's me! I'm gonna help everyone out, so don't you worry, okay?"

Her smile grew into the most reassuring grin she could manage, before she turned to focus on what Prism had said. She vaguely recognized her fellow hero, and gave a firm nod.

"Yeah, I'll help out with that," she replied, ejecting shells from her gauntlets so new ones could be loaded. "I've got this!"

With that, she hurried over to the next pile of rumble, slamming her fists down to blast it away.
Misaka Mikoto

Mikoto tried not to let her shoulders slump too much. Just for a moment she thought she might have had something, and then in a flash it was taken away!

Shrugging it off as quickly as she could, she paused for a moment when Anette asked about what happened to Kuroko's uniform. This of course brought memories to the accident with the girl exploding the crepe, and how she'd acted about it. It still made the third-ranked level five angry, thinking about how that girl had gone assuming she abused her powers and didn't care about anyone else's wellbeing after she was the one who instigated the matter in the first place. And how close she'd gotten to accidentally seriously injuring Kuroko... there was a big difference between a corrective shock and what would have happened if she'd gone through with it.

"Well... there was an accident with a crepe, and her uniform ended up being kind of a mess," Mikoto explained, plainly.

Saten Ruiko

Ruiko couldn't help herself. She snickered, covering her mouth to muffle her laughter as the blonde girl tried to make an indignant comeback. And the best part is, she still though Uiharu was only ten years old! ... To be fair, that seemed to be a usual reaction to Uiharu, but this was still ridiculous. And... a 'gravy' model? Ruiko knew about 'gravure' idols, and about the English word 'gravy'. This was just silly.

One thing, however, snapped Ruiko out of her laughter and made her take note.

"... Wait, you're the same age as me?!"

The reaction was a shocked one. The little blonde girl was actually thirteen?! For a few moments, Ruiko realized that she wasn't that much less mature then Kuroko, but somehow she just seemed younger. Nine or ten, at the most.
I will be posting pretty soon, hopefully.
Saber - Castle Tepes

Queen Tepes gave Jack a happy grin. "Not all of my maids know how to prepare sushi, but I know for a fact that Rei does. She even works like a refrigerator, it's pretty useful!"

The benefits of having a yuki-onna working in your kitchen were many. Even before the installation of various forms of technology in the castle, she had an excellent way of keeping unprepared ingredients nice and cool. It helped that Rei seemed to have very few issues with standing still for extended periods of time. "I'll send a few maids down when it's ready. I also have some tending to the dungeons, so feel free to ask any of them for anything you need! Thanks again!"

With another quick smile, she turned and sprinted up the stairs, past the UMMA agents. So there were people lost in her kitchen then... how did that even happen? Whatever. She'd tell Rei about the sushi and then see what the apparently travelling salespeople at her gate wanted.

Meanwhile, Saber had expected that Nono would not find any error in her judgement of the robotic girl being placed outside. That allowed her to use her larger, ranged attacks more effectively. For this reason, Saber intended to place herself outside as well. This did as little damage to the castle as possible and allowed her to use Excalibur's ranged functions(albeit not the fortress-destroying full extent for fear of harming an ally) in order to keep their enemies at bay. "Nono, would you accept being placed on the roof? I believe you may be able to attack targets approaching from all sides, or launch a counter assault on them them from above if you do."

"Geo," she continued, addressing the boy, "I do not know what abilities you possess in detail. However, my understanding leads me to believe that you may be suited to holding the interior of the castle. Do you believe this is suitable?"

She paused for a moment, then faced Gintoki as well. "Gintoki, as you seem most suited to close combat, I wish to pair you with Geo in defending the castle's interior. Do you agree?"

Ultimately these people were her fellow agents, whom Saber had nothing but respect for. As such, she felt it necessary to confirm that they agree with her assessment of their capabilities. The next task would be to assemble all the maids capable of combat in the ideal locations. As they were servants, the ideal outcome would be that they were never forced to fight. However, chances were slim that the outcome would be ideal.

Kirisame Marisa - Academy City

Marisa grumbled as Othinus was retrieved from her pocket, and some new girl talked about collecting all her stuff. Well... if she did, maybe it'd be easier to get it back into her hat all together. Wait... that guy ran the city or something didn't he? The one she had to go see... well, now the Perfectly Ordinary Witch knew exactly what one of the demands she would make of him was! She'd dress up that tiny girl yet!

Waving her hand as best she could while restrained by all the dark matter. "Fine, fine, let's go see him..."

Shadow Eternity Vessel Foecrusher

The katana-wielding woman sighed. Oh, wonderful. The hulking brute was forgetting his position.

"I'm suspecting the Leader intended for us to work together," she began resting her cheek on her hand as she leaned on the arm of her seat. "Not for one person to take charge without bothering to learn anyone else's skillset. A distraction-based plan is fine, but have you considered that simply throwing our soldiers up against the front gate is liable to end in a bloodbath rather then anything viable? I'm certain they'd rather avoid that just as I would."

She glanced at the soldiers. Not a single one seemed to be flinching, but it was difficult to tell under all the dark gear they were wearing. Still, it was a disciplined group. Good. "Now, that's not to say you don't have something good there, but trying to shut down all discussion by threatening to start a fight with your allies is going to end up with a lot of people dying unnecessarily. On top of that, we need to place all the teleportation devices on the Eye, they may very well have defenses in there as well. While, as I said, a distraction is a good place to start, perhaps some contributions from the other operatives are in order?"

If he attacked her for this, their arrival would take far, far too long.

The Leader - Shadow Eternity HQ

A soul...? What an odd request.

But as someone who had traveled the multiverse even before founding this organization, the Leader had no shortage of resources. Even the unusual ones she did not expect to be useful immediately had been gathered for the purposes of furthering their progress. After all, who knew when they would be useful?

"You're in luck," she began, reaching into her cloak, "I've collected many things in my time, and to be honest was unsure of how this would be useful... to me, at least."

The item she produced was perhaps unlike the souls Hazama was used to, but nevertheless it was a soul, and a brilliant one at that. It floated above the Leader's slight palm, an orb of white flame blazing like the sun.
Forgot to post here. ^^; Later tonight or tomorrow it'll be up.
That really depends on what kind of scene you want to jump into.

I'll be posting later today or tomorrow.
And she's fully accepted.
@Whitepulse: Accepted.

Name: Yomikawa Haruko
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Appearance: "Hey, I DO know how to use this..."
Personality: Haruko is a fairly casual and friendly girl, who is the type of person to try and be nice to everyone. At least so long as they don't push her too far. A girl born in Tengoku City, she finds the unusual commonplace, and is quite used to the presence of magi, youkai, cyborgs, onmyouji... just about anything is of no surprise to Yomikawa Haruko. However, she was certain that, until recently, she was just a normal girl with no special traits or abilities at all. Even surrounded by the uncommon, she felt that she was very much in the common category, which made the discovery and reaction of her katana all the more surprising. Haruko believes very firmly that if you can manage it, you should help out anyone, and that someone who truly wishes to be heroic should strive to do such a thing. She can't even deny that she wishes to be a hero like that, deep down.
Skills: Haruko is a decent sprinter. She knows how to cook well enough, and in her opinion makes a pretty awesome tonkotsu ramen. Haruko has had some experience in kendo, but never in real swordplay, and therefore her surprise at her abilities in using the katana was quite justified. However, it is mostly instinctive, and she will have to work harder to match true masters of swordplay.
Abilities: As of now, nothing beyond what one would expect from a teenaged girl.
Equipment: Haruko carries very little equipment(unless you count a cell phone), save for a nameless katana. This nameless blade is crafted with the finest techniques, but no sign of its creator is left upon the weapon. It has exceptional cutting capability and seems impossible to mar, but other then that Haruko has been unable to discern if it has any other abilities. It can only be unsheathed by her, however, and she has no idea why.
Brief History: Haruko was only a few years old when her father vanished. She remembers, vaguely, his words. That to make a brighter world for his daughter, he needed to help people. To be a hero. She never saw him again, but those words stayed with her.
With the exception of her father's disappearance, Haruko has lead a relatively normal life, for a given value of normal in Tengoku City. She attended kindergarten with youkai, played with the children of mage families in elementary school, made friends with a girl composed entirely of slime in middle school, and now has moved on to her high school life. Throughout all of this, nothing at all indicated to her that she was anything other then a normal girl...
Until...
Not far from her home, there lay the burned out ruins of what had once, many years before her birth, been the Yomikawa residence. The tragic fire that had claimed it had destroyed an incredibly old building with a great deal of history. Haruko felt as if it was her duty to pay the ruins a visit, given it had been her family's home for so long. Even if she had never lived in it. And yet she felt drawn to the ruins. Find herself standing the the wreckage, she wondered why it had never been cleared before finding something strange. Digging it out of the lingering ash, she discovered a sheathed katana. Feeling as if she had found something deeply important to her, Haruko brought it home and was told she must have found an heirloom that had survived the fire. And yet... something made her feel as if there was more to it then that. Finally she unsheathed the blade, and found herself with an instinctive ability to wield it.
Her mind was set when she heard about the Tournament. A wish was a dangerous thing to just give to anyone, and if she won that meant she got it... and so she entered, determined to win.
Accepted.

My own character will be up somewhat soon, as well as a pretty crucial NPC.
