Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

  • Name(s): Asagami Chiyoko
  • Age: 10, due to slowed aging looks slightly younger, at around nine. Given her young age the slower aging is not particularly noticeable.
  • Gender: Female
  • Personality: Chiyoko is a fairly sweet and outgoing young girl, who wants to be friends with just about everyone around her. She doesn't really get people who are antisocial, and feels like being alone when you're sad about something is the worst thing anyone can do. If you have problems, you should let people out. This is firmly what Chiyoko believes. She wants to help people, believing that anyone should help anyone else whenever they can. She has an unfailingly optimistic view of the world around her and a belief that friendship can help out anyone. Really, she wants to be friends with everyone(thought someone who truly, truly destroys all sympathy anyone can have for them will stop being a friend candidate) Chiyoko wants to understand others around her, and if that means trying to understand why someone is fighting, then she'll try as best she can to do that. That being said, she won't hesitate to fight, and seems to have a somewhat intense appreciation for high levels of magical firepower that comes as a surprise to others at times. Not that she actually says anything about it, but excessive magical firepower seems to be one of her favorite methods of attack. Chiyoko is very determined and incredibly focused, not one to give up at all. She refuses to back down, to the point of needing others to force her to back down if it comes to it. However, she throws her all into everything, and this can be rather dangerous, especially for a little girl. On top of that, Chiyoko still has typical little girl desires, such as liking sweets, cute things, and cute outfits.
  • History: For much of Chiyoko's early life, her mother suffered from illness. On some days, when it was particularly bad, her father would seclude himself, stricken by grief at the thought that his wife may die at any moment and he couldn't even see her. This seclusion formed part of Chiyoko's beliefs. The more her father secluded himself, the more cynical and hopeless he got. Even though he loved his daughters, he barely had energy to do anything but work and wallow in sadness. Chiyoko's belief that seclusion only made those suffering sadder was formed by this. Her desire to help her parents, too, influenced her willingness to help others. She remained hopeful that her mother would survive, and when she did, making a full recovery, Chiyoko felt as if her faith had fully paid off. From there, she wanted to help other people, to meet new friends, to make everyone she could her friend. Naturally, being a magical girl allowed her to do these things, to help others and to make new friends. Chiyoko was noted as being incredibly enthusiastic about the Mock Battle system. She thinks it is possibly one of the most fun things anyone could think of.

Magic

  • Style: Semi-Aerial Bombardment. Lots of ranged spells and flight capabilities, not much melee ability. Unless you could blocking with her staff as a last ditch effort.
  • Colour: Blue

Equipment

  • Magical Equipment: Blazer Gale, a staff used as a channel for Chiyoko's magic. It is capable of speech, but only to recite how charged a spell is or initiate a spell. It has no intelligence.
  • Combat Equipment: N/A
  • Misc. Equipment: Chiyoko carries a cookbook, her ambition being to cook sweets for her friends. She also has several stuffed animals.

Other

  • Combat Experience: Inexperienced
  • Hopes, Dreams, Goals: To help people and make lots of friends, meet new people, and keep everyone safe.
  • Fears, Flaws and Anxieties: Not being able to help others, jumping into things too quickly, losing her friends.
  • Living Family: Asagami Chiyuri(Mother), Asagami Yuuichi(Father), Asagami Fujioka(older sister)
  • Yuri: Enabled, but she's 10. Not going to be much more than innocent crushes and "she's so pretty!" here.

So I have nearly everything but backstory now. I have... no clue what to do for backstory. ^^;
Pretty sure the explanation for magic is right in the first post and it's not from deities. ^^;
So in what may have been jumping the gun, I have actually drawn my magical girl.

Judging by her design I think "mass bombardment" would be a good way to describe her spells.
Well, it's magical girls. Since this feels pretty Nanoha, I am guessing it will involve over-the-top befriendings.
Befriend the all the celestial bodies!
I doubt that part is a hassle for magical girls.
Sakura Kyouko

Kyouko was about to launch her spear upwards, to yank another bug down from the sky, when suddenly yet another magical girl appeared. This one seemed more akin to the flying girl with the sword who was chopping apart the creatures in the sky than anything she was familiar with. But all magical girls looked a bit different, she supposed. Eh, wasn't the time to think about that crap, was it? Though it was kind of a surprise when the newcomer suddenly whipped out a pair of gatling guns and fired into the sky, the roar of gunfire nearly blotting out the sound of the bugs being ripped to shreds, their remains tumbling from the sky and crashing to the ground below in huge numbers. It was cutting the swarm down.

"These pieces of trash are screwed!" she commented with a fanged grin, her spear lashing up to slit one of them open as it began to fly towards her, the chains rattling as she cleaved apart its abdomen and spilled greenish blood across the ground. One swiftly landed beside her, managing to evade the gunfire. Or at least it appeared so at first. As Kyouko whirled around, she saw it had lost one wing and a limb to the newcomer's attacks even if it had managed to land close and was lunging with snapping jaws at her. Swinging her spear in an arc, the redheaded magical girl drove it downwards and through the beast's head, planting it there to use it almost like a pole vaulter would, throwing herself into the air and leaping over the corpse, yanking the tip out as she landed behind it.
It was brought up before. The liberties that were allowed weren't intended to go so far.

I guess it is important to clarify when it's a canon setting, though.
Tentatively curious about this, eh-heh. I am a fan of magical girls, exploring cool things, and blowing up horrible space abominations with love, friendship, and determination.
Okay, um...

The food setting is actually a canon one. ^^; I think people aren't realizing this, but it's the world from Toriko. I admit I don't know much about Toriko but I'm fairly certain some people think it's just a made up food world.

By extension, the bugs actually show up and only tried to eat people, they never used weird mutation stuff to turn people into bugs. I think when we decided it was okay to take some liberties that meant stuff like acid spit or poison sacks.

... Anyway trying to decide if I should post again or wait. I at least have an idea for Kyouko, and Kino's "shoot even more" strategy would be easy to do.
