I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

Well, it's 19 years since the Battle of Yavin. Fifteen since the Battle of Endor. I would have to look up information to figure out a good time for the New Jedi Order to be reasonably well-established to have found her like that.
At the same time it might be easier to write her backstory as having come more independently. Still post Endor, though.

@GrafRoy Zeppeli: Well... one of the issues I had about backstory is her age when her training began. The Empire was still in power and the the Jedi were both in hiding and extremely rare.

As for your argument, um... hmm. I guess I just felt like like that didn't really fit the Star Wars universe, but there's like a dozen other feline species so I guess I can't really say that.
Though maybe pick an image that shows her body in full and looks a bit more Star Wars(clothing wise, again "realistic" isn't the issue).

There it was. That meat bun, clutched not only in her own chopsticks, but in the chopsticks of Kyang... A firm grip on either side, and the other girl glaring at her, that intense gaze demonstrating such unwillingness to give up! Oh, a fire lit inside of Torako, and there were few things that could satisfy such a flame, so very few things... Tightening her grip, Torako tugged, encouraging Kyang to tug back against her efforts... and, when it seemed like she was pulling her hardest... Torako's deeply serious grimace become a cheerful smile and she suddenly released the meat bun.
"You can have it, Kyang-dono!" she happily declared, before deciding to switch her thoughts to the other matter at hand.
"... Bandits can be really scary," she repeated her early thought, "But... I can be bait! I trust all of you, so I'm not worried!"
Torako gave the other people at the table an innocent, cheerful grin, devoid of anything like doubt or fear or even the tiniest scrap of deceit.
After all, Torako did trust their abilities.
And the Tiger Lily wasn't scared.

Currently I can't think of how to lengthen my post beyond Torako volunteering to be the bait. ^^;
That would work out fine, really. There's the New Republic team, but plenty of other characters aside from them, like the various scoundrels. There's also the Dark Side Acolytes who work with the Children of the Emperor's shadowy leader.
Okay... first off, her backstory doesn't really work, since when she was four the Galactic Empire was in full swing. There were only two actual Sith, and even now it's more Dark Jedi trying to be Sith than anything. Then... her personality, well... She doesn't have to be a totally evil person in every way, but the Dark Side is a Dark Side. Letting hate and anger reign over you is what it's all about.
