Think you could circle around that tidbit up left?
I'd say we just steal a good map and shotgun our provinces on it lol

Sent to the Characters Tab.
I think I'd be interested with a couple ideas, wondering if they'd be possible before thinking of settling on one.

-Carling Merchant Prince coming to the crown lands along with significant rumors of armies of mercenaries and petty nobles massing in Foronia. I'm thinking him being actually absolutely not interested in rulership and just wanting to make sure the new king or queen, whomever it may, won't screw over his business with things such as ridiculous taxes.

-Chlotaric Prince coming out of nowhere with riches and unnatural charisma. The secret behind him being that he's a demon worshiper that was granted otherworldly favours to claim the throne and destroy the Faith.

-Honest to god Knight and head to one of the most military powerful house of the nation who firmly opposes the idea of a queen because he thinks a woman couldn't have the right values to be proper leaders. Despite the misogyny however is actually a great selfless guy with a flawless sense of justice that want what's best for the realm & someone likely to lay down his life for the queen at any moment should she prove herself to him.

Maybe more ideas later... thoughts?
I'm sure I could have some fun with some libertarian anti-government ranchers moving around the plains with their herds.

-Vostok Cosmodrome-

"...ultimately all the information we have is that an explosion has occurred in the Orbital Command station of the Empire causing massive damages. I will not speak of what I think the cause is as no doubt a statement will be made shortly."

All around the journalists and the base commander of the Cosmodrome, cosmonauts and technicians rushed around for emergency launches as several shuttles were lined up on 3 pads to be launched one after the other. Behind them, a deafening sound rumbled in the distance as the first 3 launches were made and the others prepared to follow.

"But commander, can you confirm this launch has been authorized by the central Directorate and the Holder? Don't these launches cost billions of-"

This was the core of the problem, wasn't it? The people wonder why they should waste their money on imperial lives. Because the whole thing was a decoy, a plot to steal Imperial tech and leave like bandits, but he couldn't tell that to the world, but he had been prepared on how to spin that story.

"Ladies and gentlemen, yes, these launches have been authorized, but I will remark that the moment news of the event came to us, we were ready to begin a recovery operation. What you are asking is should we have gone ahead with this? Would the Empire have done the same for us? No. They would not as they could have done so when the ORBiT program lit up the sky and they left our brave cosmonauts to die. But we are not the Empire. Mercy and grace toward strangers, even if they do not share our ideals, especially if they do not share our ideals, are the corner stone of democracy. It is not because someone doesn't think the way I do that if they are in danger I will not do my utmost to save them."

The journalist opened her mouth to talk but closed it for a moment of silence. She didn't want to look like a heartless bitch in front of the nation.

"Of course commander. Studios, there you have it. Back to you as I remain here as the situation develops."

-Low Mondal Orbit-

Kalista blinked to get the sweat off her eyelashes (stupid Mark II helmet without dehumidifiers) as she entered final approach to her location. What used to be the Cindorayi Orbital Command station.

"This is Vestal-1 to base, we are in view of the site. Where are the first responders?"

"This is Base. You're it."

Kalista opened her eyes wide. She was it?! There was an emergency launch minutes ago sure and the orbit was closer to Veluca's influence, but didn't they have any contingencies in place for events like these? Of course they didn't. The Cindorayi and everyone else on Mondal could point and laugh at the Kobold's failures all they wanted, but the kobolds had learned from their failures every time. Not just how to stride forward in multiple fields of science, but they had also established a tried and tested set of procedures in case of disaster.

The Cindorari? That was their first taste of terror, of epic failure. The reptile sunk in her seat, now doubting they'd find much people alive, if any. Good, her 'extra passengers' wouldn't be such a bother then. Behind her in the recovery bay that should be empty save for the bare minimum rescue crew and their tools was a vessel, an advanced recovery vehicle along with a crew to man it. But this wasn't meant to recover people, but things. This devastation was a wealth of resource to exploit! Sure the gap with the Empire was closing, but it was never fast enough and this would no doubt help greatly.

"This is Vestal-1, begining recovery operations."

The shuttle opened its bay doors after being decompressed to let out the workers do their grim tasks. All around them, bodies and mangled metal, the failure of a nation, the beginning of something.

-Kharok's Orbit-

"As we stand on the edge of the cosmos, we look onward to a better future."

Cosmonaut Mastrix Nobilis thus sat foot on Liberty.

Liberty
Equality
Fraternity
Justice
Compassion
Industry
Vision

The seven moons of Kharok (Or Unity, as it was publicly renamed by the kobolds) were thus named and the Edge Expedition finalized its tour of the local Unitan moon system during which they'd land on and collect data on the seven objects as well as take pictures of the gas giant. The landscape could be better looking though, the sun was so far away, the gas giant that should be spectacular was only dimly lit, making for a rather... dead scene.

"And its in the box!"

From where Mastrix had come, dozens of people jumped down to work with the limited amount of air they had. They had to explore the moon and gather enough ice to make it back home after all. Still, it was annoying that this video of their achievement couldn't be sent back yet. With the Orbital command exploding, this would have to wait until a few days to make sure they didn't steal the interest of the world from this great event. Just for propaganda concerns, official logs would thus state that the expedition landed 3 days from now. Silly, but democracy could use the attention of the world to steal the sunlight of imperialism.

Then again, Mastrix knew the Orbital Command exploded, but not of the democratic rebellion behind it.

-Velucan Central Administrative Building #01, Capital City-

Being part of the Directorate gave the top members certain, aherm, amenities. And being part of a young nation in a country without grand history allowed said amenities to be in luxurious penthouses at the top of sky scrappers rather than in stuffy old buildings. The Holder of Power and supreme leader of the Union, Vermillion Cray, looked down on the city bellow the clouds, confident that the windows didn't allow anyone to see or spy inside the building.

"Aaaaaand you now owe me a beer mister Drachma."

Behind him, Mister Drachma CEO of Drachma Heavy Industries played pool with General Tannhauser from Strategy while General Breks from Space and Yul from Technical looked with little interests.

"I guess I'll pay it with the money from the colonial contracts now that imperial dominion over space just got nuked."

Said Drachma. The others laughed casually about this tragedy. Cray did the same, because here was not a tragedy, but an opportunity! The Holder turned around to face his subordinates. Not that he ordered them around though, this was pretty much a democratic council. Not officially of course, but each person in this room was there because the others around him formed a small clique that controlled the essentials of the state apparatus. They had been promoting one another to positions of power for years now and finally, they were in control.

"Lets not sell the skin of the bear before we even killed it. And what a bear this is."

Said Cray, approaching the table.

"We have cosmonauts helping them, I have no idea what will come out of that, but we need to decide our stance in the matter. Obviously, democracy is good, blah blah blah, so I'll give a little call to the new player on the... solar stage. Only question is how to milk this for all its worth. I'm thinking of course we get as many shuttles on stand by as possible but we might want to get a show of force going. Flex our muscles enough for the Emperor to remember we're there, but not enough to rile up the war fever under the surface of people's mind."

The people in the room nodded in agreement but the gaunt Yul who pushed up his eyeglasses.

"Soon, but not now. We might want to throw this... PRC under the bus if they're unworkable. We spent so much time sucking up to the Empire and playing nice, it would be a shame if we threw all that out for 'Ideology' or some other silly nonsense."

Cray rolled his eyes. Of course it wasn't a matter of democracy or authoritarianism, it was just 'Kobold before everyone else', but Yul seemed to despise democracy more than all the others in the room.

"Of course. Now give me that cue, I'll show you how its done."

To: Sahrova Verasha
From: Vermillion Cray
Subject: Independence

Greetings.

You were magnificent! Forgive my bluntness, but I always deeply regretted the weakness of the message my predecessors gave at the independence of Veluca and I am proud to witness something that will do magnificently echo in the halls of time!

Pleasantries aside though, be certain the Union of Veluca recognizes your independence as well as sovereignty over at least the continent your new nation is located on, further details can be settled in a more official communication than a secret message as this.

Though I once again you will forgive my bluntness, as kobolds have a very short lifespan we have little time to waste. In reality, our position is very precarious. You have distance in your favor, but your industrial output I will presume, is nowhere near what would be needed to face the Empire if it is allowed the time to build a fleet powerful enough to overwhelm your defenses. We could help you with that. As the Empire did before, there could be a gate keeper to space preventing its militarization, though one who makes the laws of space based on democratic votes rather than the whims of hereditary nobles.

We have the industrial might and the launch capacity to set up the frame work of something great today! But what we lack is the know how. As a show of good will, I would like you to share fusion with the world! On all broadcasts, on the internet! Free and plentiful power to the masses of the world as a gift from democracy to all races. On a more intimate matter between our two countries, while this would make our plan possible, it would still be a long shot. Our laser technologies are years behind that of the Empire and asking for this I know, is a much more delicate matter than asking for a way to universally make life better for everyone.

The matter of war and violence may not be avoided and I understand that when facing an uncertain future, giving out one of the rare advantage you have may seem daunting, but I must ask for your trust, now as a friend and maybe later as a sister in arms.

To close this, with this message are a set of encrypted bank accounts accessible from the Empire with two billion crowns in them. It is unconditional to weather or not you accept our suggestions. These were set up during the Void war to support covert operations but it is my opinion that they'll be more beneficial to someone attempting to change things than to those who merely wish to destroy an enemy. I hope this money will serve you well.

Signed
Vermillion Cray, Holder of Power of the Union of Veluca.

-Somewhere, in orbit...-

"Well, well well..."

The agent was a technical specialist from intelligence, not a cosmonaut. Everything felt weird in the darkness of a blown up compartment of the Command Station. But he had found something. A data bank, intact. He'd get a promotion for that.

Name of Nation: Greater Union of Veluca (Official) Velucan Republic (Shortened) Velucan Directorate (Unofficial)

Nation Characteristics:
-Government: In theory, Veluca is the largest democracy of the world with its 300 million people, but there hasn't been an election since the end of the void war as foreign threat and meddling prevent the Union from showing a moment of weakness. Still, this has been over 20 years ago, half the lifespan of a kobold, and so whole generations have never tasted democracy and the entire system has become quite militarized as power is shared between a couple super corporations and the administration that is now entirely military. This military industrial complex is in turn not headed especially by the strategists who have taken a backseat since its been so 'long', but rather by technical experts who lead the country like an engineer a building project rather than a general an army.

-Culture:The kobolds never really had a culture outside of long forgotten tribal roots, having instead being colonies and protectorates of one or another nation through the years. Their culture was thus not stained by 'history' and rather than making the Kobold culture 'shallow' as others would call it, it allowed them to build a culture from the ground up and shaped the kobolds into what an elite of people wanted them to be: Daring Builders and Explorers! The past is terrible, the present isn't all that great either, but in the future the hopes of the nation are!

-History: Liberated by the Aldabetan Republic and forged into a union mainly made to facilitate resource extraction and exportation to the republican mainland, the kobolds showed surprising zeal in their industrialization. Although they were never considered equals by anyone at any point during their history, after the void war, the kobolds have proven themselves able to explore the darkest corners of the solar system and muster an impressive force ready to rush forward into the unknown.

Nation Location: Orange on the map.

Nation Initial Population: 300m

Species Name: Kobolds

Species Characteristics: Small, weak and short lived, these tiny reptiles also have a reputation of extreme stupidity, but this is only true in the fact that they have a very wide distribution of intellect. The dumbest individual in existence will most likely be a kobold, but likewise this race produces a surprising amount of genius per capita.

Side Chosen in Void War: Aldabetan, though Veluca was a sideline for most of the conflict that used the war to industrialize massively to produce goods for the Aldabetan warmachine, though after the war they were quick to jump on a chance for peace.

Technological Level: Modern, but with huge gaps from places to places, with people still living an almost medieval lifestyle as farmers in the hinterlands of the Union.

-The Deep Fleet: A lesson from the Void war was that surface assets are easily destroyed by space weapons and long range missiles, as such, the navy of the Union is, outside of small, fast, agile but short range coastal strike crafts, are made of enormous submarines, ranging from submerged battleships and carriers to pocket 'Submarine Fighters' hidden from the Empire's eye in the sky.

-Air and Land: Hammer and Anvil: Veluca believes in tanks and bombs, lots of them. Their tanks are widely considered inferior, but are numerous to the extreme and shielded enough to allow a couple years of life to its crew should the nation be nuked. Likewise the air force is serviced by many solar and atomic powered aircrafts that spend month in the air in international airspace to strike a devastating second strike to any who would menace the Union. Speed and firepower are the main focus of the airforce. The bombers won't come back, but they'll go through!

-The Space Force: Technically complying: Many designs of space elevators and other more fancy designs have been made, but the Union knows it would frustrate the Empire into action, something it cannot afford at the moment. So, the Union had to make do with simply having one of the largest conventional rocket cosmodrome of the world. That's not to say they are without resources though... Kobolds like to build big, but they can also build small. Experimental kill vehicles, disguised as used rocket debris of previous launches, still orbit the planet, in theory capable of inflicting catastrophic damage to space stations by suddenly accelerating into them should war occur.

Special Resource: Room temperature superconducting material 'ERZAT'. Incredibly useful to make anything maglev related or the newest kind of super computers, Erzat was until recently exported to the world freely, though it has since then been nationalized as a strategic resource worth too much to send anywhere outside the nation.

Faction Name: The Totalists
Parent Nation: Earth Kingdom
Head of Faction: General Cho Xin
Government/Faction type: Vanguard Fascist Organization

Faction Structure:
The structure of the organization is closely resembling military hierarchy but upon closer inspection, it can be seen that it is actually a network of acquaintances and cells of people working together. For example, General Xin has many other generals under his command but still gives more responsibility to Captain Bei than most and likewise a capitalist like Fan Song who doesn't hold a military rank is still extremely well placed to orders some people around. As the organization isn't public (Yet), there thus isn't any official rank system as of now and people generally obey orders based on how much they like the person giving it and if it makes sense to them.

Population/Membership:
-1292 'Key Members'
-112,000 'Members'
-2,800,000 'De Facto Soldiers'
-390,000,000 'Supporters'

Military Strength/Armed Population:
The Totalists can muster about 3 million soldiers under their command, but most of their forces merely follow orders of nobles and officers that are themselves totalists and while most are sympathetic to their ideas, they aren't really members of the organization, instead going along with the orders they are given. This however is only the tip of the iceberg as many totalists are rather ex-soldiers who have been demobilized now that the war is seen as over. They thus went back home with the Totalist ideals of unity in their heart and have generally become pillars of the community. They along with their veteran bending abilities, families and friends are waiting for the call for national revolution and the great change that is to come.

Military Information:
The core of the Totalist forces are a mix of active soldiers and war veterans around the Earth Kingdom that are the veterans of many battles against the Fire Nation, these expert benders truly believe that they are fighting for something greater than themselves and are willing to lay down their lives for the cause. These main forces are thus divided into the Active soldiers, armed by the king in traditional Earth Kingdom ways, the Deactivated soldiers, generally poorly equiped and acting as recruiters and trainers for the local militias around the kingdom, and the Vanguard Army, equiped privately by the capitalists siding with the Totalists with metal armor similar to elite fire nation soldiers.

On the periphery of these forces are the more standard soldiers that merely serve under Totalist officers who will follow orders but lack the moral of true believers in the cause.

And the bulk of the Totalists forces are the militias. Peasants trained by military veterans who are angry at the king and hate the fire nation. They are numerous but poorly equipped and generally unwilling to leave their native lands to fight in the wider world.

Economy Information:
The Earth Kingdom outside of Ba Sing Se is often seen as a backwater compared to the Fire Nation, but its industry and resources is still crushingly powerful by sole virtue of the amount of land and of people working it. Still, things are changing. The demands of war created, slowly but surely in the last hundred year, a class of wealthy merchants seeking to provide for the demand and who experimented to adapt to the Fire Nation's industrial warfare and new technologies. The Fire Nation leads the industrial revolution, but the Earth Kingdom isn't far behind. With the war seemingly over soon though, the wealthy people who have thrown everything they had into weapon production found themselves in trouble. Where the crown's money stopped coming in though, the Totalists came in, not with money, but with promises of wealth and mining and industrial rights once the king is deposed. This, and a little strength to convince those relunctant to join the cause, was all it took for the Totalists to take over the new industries of the kingdom.

Geographic Territory:
All around the Earth Kingdom, though with no 'official' territories in their control... for now.

History:
The Earth Kingdom really always was more of a collection of smaller states under the dominion of a nominal king, someone from Ba Sing Se saw nothing in common in him and someone from the backwater of the swamps for example. The war however forced people from all walks of life and all regions of the kingdom who were normally kept separated to fight together, becoming brothers in arms and really, forming something more. They were not so different and the fire nation threatened them all. A certain Captain under the name of Ma Bei saw something in this: Unity. True unity of the likes only the Fire Nation really had, a common identity. He had always been a vocal speaker of reforms and it wasn't long until other more powerful men caught on to these ideas.

They named themselves the Totalists. Those who wanted...
TOTAL VICTORY
And who were thus willing to do...
TOTAL WAR
And who to do so demanded...
TOTAL UNITY OF THE STATE
And...
TOTAL CONTROL OF THE STATE

To them, the King had failed them as he was cloistered in Ba Sing Se, using massive resources to protect the capital as he left the provinces to fight for themselves. They of course didn't know the conspiracy of the Grand Secretariat general to keep the war hidden from the king, but when this was revealed, the damage was done and the image of the king being an incompetent blind idiot was made and support for the Totalists only grew. The generals should lead the country, establish a true meritocracy that promoted people based on their competence, not because of their birth rights!

The war came to a stand still shortly after of course and the king, in an effort to put order in the economy of the nation, demobilized most of its costly army, peace appears to be near after all. But people were outraged! The taxes were still high in order to repay many debts and most crucially, the fire nation still holds the land it invaded! The Totalists thus spread in the kingdom as the soldiers came back from the front, to educate their fellow peasants about how the people from the kingdom aren't so different from them and really want the same thing: Prosperity. And how they should all work together to get it along with Total Victory even if it demanded Total War, and do so with a state that had Total Control.

Rebellions happen all the time in the earth Kingdom, but this time, it seems the stars are aligning. The Totalists and its spokesman Ma Bei had managed to make a global movement at a time where the king couldn't be weaker while his tool to deal with such things, the Dai Li, had fallen out of grace in his eyes, making him blind to the threat hiding among its own soldiers.

Able to Bend an element: Yes, Earth
Bending Skill: Master
Innate Ability: 3
Likes:
-Captain Ma Bei
-Order
-Nationalists
Dislikes:
-General Li Feng
-Nobles
-Cowards
Background:
A top general of the Kingdom, he originates from a noble family but never liked this part of him, instead joining the army and climbing the ranks. Some say he could never have made it this far without his family and this is partially true but when his father died and he inherited his domain, rather than leave the army to administrate it as was his right, he simply wrote back home that his estate was a gift for the local peasants who were now free from any feudal obligation while he used his own money to the last penny to equip his men with better protective gear. This gave him a great deal of admiration from his fellow subordinates.

He was ultimately tasked to judge Ma Bei for causing unrest in the ranks but realized he admired his cause and joined it. With his rank and reputation this gave much credit to the cause and was really the default leader. With the war ending, he received a final promotion and was transferred to Ba Sing Se to join the Council of Five in charge of the whole military. His Totalist views are known but the king hopes to sooth them by giving their leader power and a voice to be heard.

Character Name: Ma Bei
Age: 24
Title(s): Captain of the Earth Kingdom, Totalist Ideologist
Able to Bend an element: Yes, Earth
Bending Skill: Apprentice
Innate Ability: 2
Likes:
-Philosophy
-Helping others
-Revolutions
Dislikes:
-War
-Stuborn people
-Opportunists
Background:
Born from wealthy merchants in Ba Sing Se, he proved himself an impressive intellectual and rich enough to pursuit his interest in philosophy rather than a more 'practical' pursuit. Still, he was not connected enough to escape the Dai Li who caught him preaching ideas about unity and a new form of government based on meritocracy rather than aristocracy and so, was forced out of the city and into the army to hopefully die or at least be away from the Capital.

Unaware of the reason he had been thrown out, his commander, upon hearing he had a form of education, immediately gave him a rank of officer where he proved to not be a complete imbecile and to care about the life of his men. He continued to preach his ideas but they changed with his service in the army. He had always been a civilian but seeing the harshness of war hardened his ideas somewhat, making his view of a new society go from utopic to more realistic.

In times, he made powerful friends in high places, being taken out of the fight and instead to whisper words in the ears of General Xin, Feng and others, becoming an advisor to everything theoretical to them. Some say he leads the movement from the shadows but really he just wants to make a difference and make things better for his people rather than be their overlord.

Character Name: Li Feng
Age: 32
Title(s): General of the Earth Kingdom
Able to Bend an element: Yes, Earth
Bending Skill: Adept
Innate Ability: 4
Likes:
-War
-Being in Charge
-Winning
Dislikes:
-Peace
-Taking Orders
-Losing
Background:
The hot head, the courageous, the victorious. Feng was one of the rare person to make it from soldier to general without prior contacts in the army. He joined because he liked to fight and some say, to kill, but his ability to organize said mass killing of enemies made him popular and one of the rare officer to have more victories than defeat against the Fire Nation. To be honest, he doesn't care much about the Totalists greater ideals about a united nation, but he cannot stomach letting a single fire bender alive on the continent and is one to always see (and be able to make the others see) a victory just around the corner.

To him, the king betrayed his people by halting the hostilities and the 'Total War, Total Victory' part of Totalism is music to his ears.

Character Name: Atla Kye
Age: 19
Title(s): None
Able to Bend an element: Yes, Earth, Lava, Chi Blocking
Bending Skill: Master
Innate Ability: 5
Likes:
-Feeling Accepted
-Diversity
-Being praised
Dislikes:
-Rejection
-Anything Ma Bei dislikes
-Nobles
Background:
Born in a Fire Nation colony from an earth bending mother and fire bending father, Atla's mom was pretty much the pet girlfriend of a Fire army officer. This allowed her some comfort in her youth despite being rejected by both kids from the fire nation and earth kingdom. This went from bad to worst when the new military governor decided to put an end to the abomination that was half breeds. Her father left her to die as her mother protected her, being scorched before Atla's eyes as she herself lost an arm as she played head under the head body of her mother. She escaped and found refuge in the flood of refugees escaping from the fire nation occupation.

She became a small time criminal, stealing and using her bending to get away until she was finaly caught, only 14 years of age, and conscripted in the army like many criminals. She was good, extremely so, and found herself enjoying having friends, people who depended on her and vice versa, making a name of herself as 'Stone Armed Kye', fighting off legions of Fire Nation soldiers with her almost unique Lava bending. Eventually, she was asked to join the elite Terra Team of Ba Sing Se, the most elite benders of the nation as they were being reformed after Azula and her team crushed them entirely. It was when she learned that most of them were defeated by a Chi Blocker and, intending to impress her new team mates, studied all she could about it to add another string to her bow.

Her new team was honestly a bunch of haughty asses, most of them who didn't come close to Kye in bending abilities and were there because they were connected but again, things went from bad to worst when people learned she was a half breed. They threw her out of the team, how could they trust her? Her old unit she couldn't return too because it had been demobilized but still she caught up with some friends, hoping she could crash at their homes to try and lead a normal life, though she admitted to them her origins. They didn't care, she had saved their lives so many times after all, there was no doubt to them she was an Earth Citizens through and through, some even called her lava bending kind of a giveaway. Still, one of her friends thought it'd be a shame if such incredible powers were wasted and so, pointed her to the Totalists, saying they also believed in equality and that their cause was just.

Her abilities made her climb the ranks until she served as the body guard of Ma Bei. She fell in love with him, with how much of an intellectual with big ideas he was. To this day, she serves as his hand, a representative and hitman to set things up for the big day and although Ma Bei doesn't care what people think, Kye still prefers to remain discreet with her relation with him as many called him out on having a pet half-breed.
