I don't quite see the abuse here. If you have the power of the attack described well in the character sheet, then the effects are rather predictable and the extent of its ability to damage the arena is known to all participants of the fight, allowing them to fairly judge beforehand how advantageous it would be and regulate it.
The problem is that it's a kind of win-win situation for the attacker because it means even if he fails he'd get the second most desirable thing in return.
My example was maybe not the best to demonstrate how it's problematic. Say, somebody shoots a rocket at you which you avoid. Then the attacker describes as the rocket impacting with a large gate arch behind his target and the debris blocks the only way out of a certain place.
I tend to describe these as unlikely coincidences. Even if the attack fails it does something to the environment which helps the attacker.
Alternatively the defender describes the effect of the attack but with such details which make the situation more favorable to him.
Now, it isn't as much of an issue when it's obvious what'd happen. But this logic gets stretched further until it becomes an act where one of the players effectively take control of the universe and bend laws just to have things turn out in their favor.

On the other hand you are perfectly right. There's no problem with a rocket for example blowing up walls/buildings or making craters. The problem comes when these things are consciously manipulated in order to give advantages to a certain player. I'm just interested if the Arena has some experience with this and if yes what kind of reactions it produced.

Also just to make this clear, I have no problem with players nerfing down the collateral effects of their attacks for the sake of convenience. Having two physical gods exchange attacks which would blow up cities or worse while they fight in a small arena is a sure way to break the narrative. Sometimes you have to bend reality a bit to make the plot work. The point is to not twist it in a way which obviously benefit a certain player.

@Willy Vereb

T1 Rules. This should explain a lot, but if you'll still have questions left, feel free to ask.

And these are our ranking headquarters. Free for anyone to join, this is the place where most challenges are issued and battles are agreed upon. You just need to post the characters you want to roleplay in the arena with in the respective tab and announce that you're open for fight in the OOC.
Thank you very much!
So basically T1 is nothing but what you actually do during fights in forum RPs.
At least I hope nobody use this literally because the point would be have a fun and sensible battle than follow arbitrary rules.
Prepping is done in a way it actually does make sense. Not creating it for a skewed sense of balance.
To comment on the guns vs magic example, guns may need to be set-up because their recoil needs support. Doesn't mean you have to "prep" it every time when you fire.
Albeit you should if you are changing positions.
Similarly, defining the battle in "turns" is a nice way to simplify things but it doesn't always work.
Some actions take more time while others require less. You have to judge the "time window" your opponent gave you with that.
Or when somebody performs a "combo". It consists of multiple attacks but if you deal with the initial threat you don't need to deal with the rest.
On the other hand you can't just assume that then the player would continue doing the combo like a dumbass. So you usually only have the same time frame as usual.
That's my RP battle experience from other sites.

I also wonder how people in the Arena judge the description of collateral effects from more powerful attacks. No hits, enemy completely avoided the attack but then the player describes it as the explosion destroying half the ring, limiting the space they can fight in.
Alternatively the same thing happens but the player describes the effects of the enemy's attacks along with the way he dodged.
Either way it's an abuse.
Indestructible arenas can avoid such issues but they also make things look more artificial.
Some battles I participated in also involved an impartial GM who described the general effects and such instead of leaving it to the players.
But that's often too much of a hassle.
So I wonder what Arena-goers did in order to solve these.

Anyways, I'll check out that thread and perhaps create a profile there.
The Infernal Arena

Dimensions: The diameter of the "ring" can be anywhere from 20 to 96 meters (66 to 315 feet), depending on what you need
Temperature: 38-42 degrees Celsius (100-108 degrees Fahrenheit)
Player Capacity: Can be decided by the GM/contestants, albeit it supports a fight between only a few players the best
Hazards:
- Mild concentration of volcanic gases (only dangerous for very long battles, GM or contestants can previously decide to ignore this)
- Uneven ground and sharp rocky surfaces which may cause accidents or injuries
- Arena is suspended about 300 meters above the flow of magma
- Tremors can occasionally shake the ring albeit it won't be anything serious
- Occasional but tiny eruptions which can spew some lava to the battlefield and generally raise temperature (advised to be ignored unless there's a GM to control the timing of this effect)

Description:
Ancient fighting ring of unknown origins, suspended within the throat of an active volcano called Inferno. The ring is a large piece of rock covered in cooled magma. The core of this ring is extremely durable and suggested to be made of Brimstone. The entire ring is suspended by giant chains made of indestructible Adamantium. Thanks to its solid construction this arena had survived for over 10,000 years and may remain for eternity.
As seen from the illustration the volcano has two stony ramps, connected to two distinct caverns through which the contestants could reach the ring.
Mt. Inferno itself is 900 meters tall and its composition makes it more durable than any normal rock. The altitude difference between the level of the ring and the top of the volcano is circa 300 meters.

@Dynamo FrokanePretty much this is a typical arena setting but with elements to make the battle more intense.
I left certain details adjustable so it can fit various types of matches.
If the players ask me I can even give them suggestions how to change the other details.
Alright, I have two questions.
First, is there any list on what kind of power restrictions you guys generally use? I hear this "T1 attack" but don't quite get what should it be referring to, for example.
As you can guess I'm not that familiar with this section. Only participated once.

Second, is a more typical question. Is it me or it seem there aren't any open threads in this section?
I would like to participate in a match and depending on what rules you use I may create different characters for it.
But it seems tournaments are long closed and anything else are pre-planned fights between fix opponents.
I can't seem to find a more open style tournament here.

BTW, can you @mention me if you respond? Otherwise I may miss it out for a while.

Perhaps you should spend less time exercising non existent Wikipedia authority over the "technical" historical accuracy/practicality and more on the story building experience that this RP is supposedly trying to be.

Ya know, seeing how you haven't posted in the IC or anything.

;)

(I jest, I jest)
Saying "it's a joke" doesn't give you a free pass and have others ignore what you wrote prior.
If you honestly tried to be funny, you need to work on it.
The way of wording this could be still easily taken as insulting. Take care next.
Oh well, I'm not hurt over this so rest easy.
I just didn't like the way you seemingly attempted to get a cheap shot in here.

Anyways, my IC will be up when I actually have enough time to concentrate on writing. I have the rough draft but I'm not satisfied with the result at all. Perhaps I'll never be. Regardless, I'll patch things up and post my intro with Yllendthyr tomorrow. It's quite late here.

This is the current walker in Tiqsimuyu .Any enemy i could have surrender now to the glory of the mech walker (there are three images thats because i cant decide which represents better my walker)

First picture looks the most authentic, tech-wise. So long you aren't nitpicking on the details.
Also it's the least cool of the three, IMO. BTW, it seems to be inspired by the AT-AT.
Second picture's mech looks the most robust and hardest to disable. Although it probably is awful in mobility, weight or armaments.
Third picture looks the best and probably the most useful in combat. Especially if you add another version which has a turret. Its legs are kinda fragile and would realistically never support this weight but that's hardly an issue.

The choice is of course yours.

A wild real life has appeared. I'm trying to make it go away.
Try catching it with the Master Ball.
You may not wish to trade it though.

Working on a post for the visitors, as well as the current goings on of Arctonen and Ytterban. Since those are the most industrialized of the five core states, they are also responsible for the military power of Eisenkreis. So, this will give me a good chance to show off what the nation has been working on and how it is that the nation maintains one of the most well-equipped and advanced militaries of the setting.

Oh, and just as a little preview of what they're working on:

Let me guess, it's related to Avalia's Strike Witch units?
Also even if it were a "copy", Yllendthyr would be much more ready to adopt this than the "original".
Speaking of Hindenburg, this is my largest airship:

It's 500m long so about 8 times larger.
Used to be filled with Helium but nowadays it lifts with Kavuria whenever it's actually justified for the mission.

There's also a commercial version of this on sale with 95% less guns, half the engine power, no internal runaway pad and better cargo capacity (since armor and guns don't weight it down).
If weren't for the fact it's a bit too expensive to buy, it could almost replace water-based ships for transporting goods.
... That and overtly eager AA crews potentially mistaking it for a warship from Yllendthyr.
If you are fully in support of what I just said you will delete your above response to Alfhedil and let it drop as I said. Or at least omit offensive terms such as "long rant" and speak civilly.

If you are not, then you will prove him correct.
And what would it change?
I apparently insulted him, he fought back.
Both sides are at fault. There's nothing to deny.
I just told him my honest opinion on what caused the problem.

The only thing I can do now is just to not respond him back for the second time which would otherwise allow the situation to escalate.
