Well, as far as nations go I'm torn. I could do the Sultanate of Tin again (that radical, extremist, and absolutist hellhole of a monarchy) but I've also been thinking about something inspired by what might have hapened if the Holy Roman Empire survived all the wars that ravaged their land, centralized somewhat, and then underwent massive industrialization. They'd be like modern Russia with a grand history of being a superpower yet now somewhat overshadowed by new superpowers. With a touch of USA-inspired manifest destiny and all.

Anyone want to help me decide?
I liked your nation a lot but I think a HRE style nation could be similarly fun if not moreso. You can add Austrian/Habsburg elements combined with Prussians and WW1 Germans, too.
Does it mean you'd rather play in an Earth-style map? Asking since the current opinion is very much between that or the world of Ace Combat.

I quite like Willy's map. I think we will role with that. And as for ww2 tech, fine.
It isn't mine. I just posted a version of the same map better fit for nation games.
Although ironically enough I actually support the Earth map more, for reasons I explained.

@ClocktowerEchosHave a new idea for the map:

Taken from an obvious source.
It's basically 20x100km in dimension which might be huge at first glance but artillery would still need some distance to be away from the front lines, so are location of aircraft bases and such.
Otherwise 20km is more than enough for flanking tactics.
What do you think?
I first ask you to draw an obvious line on the map where you wish to set up your defenses.
I attack from the "above" portion of the map while your defenses are originating from "below". Just for clarity's sake.
The only issue I have is the number of aircraft and the ratio of machine guns to mortars.
I read somewhere that in most cases machine guns outnumbered mortars?
I may tone down the number of aircraft. I used Kursk as an example where during the counterattack depending on which side you took the ratio of aircraft were either 3:2 or 4:2. Besides aside from small bombs and such their main role is to secure the airspace. My main firepower will be with the airships and their not-V1 barrage.

As for machine guns vs Mortars, they do.
Here though basically every platoon which doesn't have a machinegun are carrying a mortar in roughly 1:1 ratio.
They spare no cost and also mithril makes my mortars less problematic to carry around.
As I said when Yllendthyr talks about motorized force, they mean it.

Look at it! Sooooo pretty!
I may sound a bit like a broken record but I still find the details on the Earth map better.
Though this is indeed a nice map otherwise.

My main issue would be that after spending considerable time on it I still have problems to place my nation where it'd fit. This was a no-brainer in Voltus' original map and I found an appropriate place quick on the Earth map, too. I feel there won't be a place for an europe-like small but very diverse power block, either. Though to be fair it's a bit given since I use a situation unique to our world and try to apply it elsewhere. But well, what with WW2 but in fantasy historical pararells are bound to happen.
Also the idea that it'd feel wrong to have dwarves or fantasy elements on Earth is strange when they originated straight from here. Myths telling these races were putting them in our world. Ofc, it would be quite different when said races would make plain obvious governments of their own but well, this is a fantasy themed game. Out of my head I can already mention several games where we used Earth map for fantasy.

@Willy Vereb
Working on it, irl stuff is taking me in and out of how much I'm actually getting done tho
I see, well this is only a hobby so ofc it's understandable.

Any objections to my army list? I want an opinion on it. It'd help me make this better.

Oh hey, here's a map suggestion. I'm working on sprucing it up, making it look a little less "bare bones". I took a image of what the earth supposedly will look like way in the future due to the moving plates that make up the earth's crust. I added some islands and that continent on the left. I'll be coloring and what not, but what do you guys think?

While I appreciate your work the issue is the same as with many custom maps. It's a big chunk of rock without much detail.
It also inspires people to make huge nations because it's just so vast.
Compare it with this:

This is one reason why I would prefer Earth map.
Another is the amount of resources you can invoke with association. What if your Byzantine-russian empire is actually occupying Byzantine and Russian territories?
What if somebody wish to make Germans but in this drastically changed wo.rld? It gives various possibilities or reinforces the concept of certain ideas.
I love that.

@ClocktowerEchosMore or less finalized my army composition.
I feel my AA and airforce may be still too big, though.
I'll put down the details tomorrow.
How's on your side?
Well you know what? If your so worried/focused on tech being "precisely" from the era or being too over powered then your missing the entire point of this kind of NRP. We got airships, elves, bird people, and all sorts of crazy shit.

Let's not care and have fun dammit! As long as we stick the style more so than the actual, literal tech then we'll be fine. So long as someone doesn't whip out a F22 or Abrams tank than its all good in my eyes. I think we can trust each other to have fun with the story with our on envisions of crazy, unique nations.

That's why I would like to stay in early 1940s era tech. It gives you a much wider variety of options in terms of style. Also, I got more WWII fantasy tech pics...... and I don't wanna go spend hours image hunting again. XD

Also, we never had any real problem with the tech era previously, so why make it an issue now?

Side Note: Not trying to be mean and have no ill will to anyone, in case it came off like that.
Yeah, that was kind of my point, too.
I am in for the style and to explore my imagination more than some twisted mentality to best all players.
Though I do get heavy on the technical side, because that's also something I enjoy.
On the other hand if somebody is having issues with it or feel the urge to compete with me and spice up his army beyond what he/she originally planned, then don't.
And that's why I am offering to nerf my tech if requested. Keeping the style and features but without dominating others.

@Skepic@Willy Vereb
I think he's against them so people aren't like "oh, I'm all jet fighters dat r supa fast n shit. U can't catch me since jets go fasta den propellers."

I think the overall reason for the time shift is to prevent people from going into the late ww2 stuff of jets and guilded rockets/explosives and automatic rifles and all that stuff.

<Snipped quote by Willy Vereb>

If that's the case why not have all your pilots wear earmuffs or sound proof helmets with radios in them? I can't see how those would at least bring them down to acceptable levels.
Earmuffs only make sense if you have modern or at least cold war era avoinics where you barely use your five senses and instead rely on the devices.
Elves are the complete opposite. Their smallest fighters lack absolutely any avionics and they only have a radio and a gunsight. It works because they're elves with enhanced senses including something similar to natural gyroscopes so they can navigate without devices. But if you have them wear earmuffs it dulls one of their senses.
Granted, warzones would be noisy as hell anyways so elven soldiers would just need to get used to things.
Still, jets may give an unique flair to my nations. I can reason away why I am using jets while the rest of the world does not. Also I sure don't wish to be OP. Having some advantage in aircraft tech, sure. Mithril is nice in that. But stomping my opposition in the air, hell no!

Anyways, what's OP about automatic rifles? It's called machinegun and they're older than almost any other weapon used in Ww2.
Same way guided rockets are actually kind of old. Reliable guided rockets, though? it'd be different. Maybe if they are similar to my flying bombs, huge so there's enough space for the equipment.

Anyways, there's a big question we may want to reach a consensus on.
What kind of map the game should be played on?

1.) Earth
As in the real life Earth. Europe, Africa and all the rest. It gives you a sense of familiarity but of course natural resources and detailed terrain may be changed toi fit the player's ideas with his/her nation.

2.) Osetia
The map of the previous game. It's basically a single huge continent even if it isn't obvious at first glance. We used it last time, would it be good this time as well?

3.) A completely new map
If neither of the two choices sits well with you.

So yeah, let's vote!
