Suddenly, in the middle of the night. There were some sounds outside. Sounded like someone running and crashing into a trashcan or something. Just outside the home of Aya, Valerian, and Ellie, there was a kid, and 2 vampires.

At first they were merely standing in the open air, facing each other. The kid was out of breath, and the vampires were smiling evilly at him.

The girl stopped, staring blankly up at the motherly figure, a finger pointed at her lips absentmindedly. The warm aura and soothing voice were such a welcome change. It affected her subconsciously, reminding her of things she barely remembered, a family, safety, a home. She swallowed back her tears and couldn't resist throwing her arms around the woman as she picked her up. Even thought Ilyndriel didn't know who this woman was, she felt like she knew her, a subconscious connection was formed between two beings of good and innocence. She curled up in the being's arms, finding more comfort than she had in a long time. Was it too good to be true?

Sadly, she began to tell her story. "I was going outside, and I met his man, and I wanted him to meet my friends, so I brought him into the hive, and then all these people came and started fighting, and then the man got angry, and he wanted to hurt this girl, and then he hit my other friend, and... " And she just started crying after that. She rubbed her eyes and after a few breaths, was able to continue. "My friend Michael tried to help, but then he said he'd had to let the man hurt the girl, and I don't understand why. I don't know what to do and nobody listens to me, cuz I don't have a big sword, and that's not fair." She seemed calmer after that, and the gentle rocking was helping. "I don't want you to go over there and get hurt."

Mithias suddenly turned and walked away a few steps, pulling his phone out of his coat. "A demon? I see. Yes the spell has indeed collapsed, and the kid is dead. What's more than that, Jacklo is seriously injured, but stable. All we have left to recover is a body. I trust everyone on your end is alright?" Mithias looked over his shoulder at the others with the phone to his ear. "It sounds like this is something Markiel would be interested in... Ah, speaking of which Kelvin has just arrived here. I'll see you back at the office, Max."

Mithias came back and stuffed the phone. Leaning down, he carefully picked up Jacklo, his weight nothing to the vampire. The sight of the dead mage incited only stoic response as Mithias passed Seph and traversed the portal.

Suddenly, the little girl with the wings wasn't where she had been standing only moments ago. She was gone. Yet with all the action and magic and rock-flinging and fiery swords, no one had seemed to notice. Being small and unnoticeable was an advantage, like stealth. Already she had fled the scene, upset at the endless fighting and lack of listening to reason. How could she save her friends? There was no way in that free-for-all.

Down the hall she ran, deeper into the cavern. The sounds echoed after her, chasing her, but soon began to fade. Finally lost, Ilyndriel slowed to a walk. Was anyone down here?

I like the character concept, but I want to give some suggestions.

So you mention the mafia. The mafia is more of an east-coast thing in the usa, and it's pretty much all Italian types over the age of 40. If you want to be from the west coast, you should think more of him being in a gang and involved in drug trafficking, human trafficking, or smuggling weapons. He'd have a lot more assassination targets down in LA or San Diego. San Francisco is really not as much that kind of town. You might get away with San Jose.

Next, tall, young, blonde, blue-eyed French guys don't do criminal organizations. They just... don't. I mean, they could, but probably not at 16. Your character would pretty much have to be black or Mexican or some poorly educated, angry, brown type. Sorry, but that's WAY more likely. If you want to be some rich white kid in the Illuminati, sure. That would fit. He would probably have other people doing his shooting.

Other places he could have learned to shoot would be the military or police academy, or maybe his family was involved in those. Maybe he watched too many movies and frequented the local gun club with an unhealthy obsession and is considering snapping and killing a lot of people. I don't know. Very few humans in these times would have been around to have personally fought in the Nightwars.

I'm not sure about how the world will be in 2100, but in 2016, 22 year olds still live with their moms and can't get a job. Most haven't finished their primary schooling by 22. Accomplishment and respect don't really happen until 35+, not to mention having killed people. I think you may need to make him older, or make him much less independent.

For what it looks like you want to do, you should say he's Canadian, or fled from a bad home in New York City or somewhere east coast. Maybe he used to work for Soldier for a few years and quit. Maybe he really did kill some people when he was a teenager and now they want revenge. Maybe he killed some mafia guys or cult members and didn't realize it. They probably would have to attack his home or something. I don't know. You can come up with stuff.
