Well, there you all go. Please enjoy, the very beginning of our DanMachi adventure. The 0th post of the IC has been done and added. You may now begin your journey in Orario. :)

Also, don't feel obligated to pay any notice to the little events I added towards the end of the post. They're just there if you want to notice and deal with them. Otherwise, do your own thing, it ain't no big!

Have fun everyone.
City of Orario; Monday, 9:00~ AM.

A clear and mostly cloudless day, with bright sunshine and a gentle breeze. This is how the morning for the people of Orario was beginning at this still early hour, But despite this, the streets were already filling with people, merchants going to set up their stalls or open their shops, artisans heading for their workshops, day-laborers making their way to their current employment project and, of course, adventurers heading both to and from the centerpiece of the city - Babel, and the dungeon beneath that towering spire. The variety of people out was, as always, wide and numerous - as was typically the case when a city as large as this was home to all the world's various races.

But today seemed especially busy, particularly near the gates and along the four, cardinal main roads. A lot of travellers had seemingly arrived very recently and were now either making their way into the massive metropolis, or standing around and gawking at it in disbelief, utterly shocked at the difference in size compared to whatever backwaer hamlet they had crawled out of originally. The cacaphony of many voices talking at once, the sound of many feet on bricklaid road, the occassional shout about a good deal on a certain item, this was the melody being played throughout the city of adventurers today.

However, over by a certain large villa, located on a side-road to the north of the western main street, things were still rather quiet. It was a rather unremarkable building aside from its size, located in an area with many similar, upper middle-class homes. A waist-high wooden fence surrounded the structure, and the building itself was a matted, natural wooden-brown color. It had three floors and what looked to be a rather flat, balcony-like roof. The door was a thick and sturdy thing, with a brass handle as well as a heavy, iron ring latched on for the purpose of being used to knock with.

There were plenty of windows, but they all seemed to sport the same, identical, patternless, maroon-colored curtains, though some were pulled aside and open, while others were draped to cover the window and prevent anyone from looking inside... Not that you could well see into a room on the second floor when you were on the street...

However, what made this unremarkable, larger-than-average house stand out when compared to its neighbours was a single fact. The banner hanging along the eastern wall's exterior - the banner of the Athena Familia. A round shield with a diagonal spear behind it, pointing upwards with its tip. This was the Home of the Goddess Athena and her Familia, the house known as Warrior's Rest.

Of course, given how quiet and utterly devoid of any activity outside, one would be forgiven for simply passing by without ever even noticing this place. Indeed, compared to the large, more well-known and well-established Familia, who lived in their fancy, crazy-big mansions, this was hardly worth paying much heed to. And, indeed, very few did.

Over by the market, more and more howls from various peddlers could be heard, wagons and carts loading and unloading goods while housewives and the elderly milled about, gossiping and making small-talk as per usual. It was a just another, unremarkable day for the Labyrinth City ... Or was it?

Over along the east main street, two groups of young adventurers had just gotten into a verbal disagreement, likely over something trite and petty. While this was not uncommon, the problem was that the youths were standing in the dead middle of the street, making traffic slow down and generally being loud and in the way for everyone else. Some people had stopped to watch the spectacle, making things even more bogged down and choked. The argument was heting up and insults were now being flung back and forth - it was likely only a matter of time before the powder keg blew up and fisticuffs started sailing through the air... Through the air, to connect with faces.

Along the northern main street, there was a differnt story. A pair of children, a girl and a boy, were running back and forth, tugging at passer-by's clothes and asking if they had seen their mother. But all they got in response was either a shake of the head, a polite 'no' or a brusque brushing off. Then again, both of the small ones were rather dirty and wore ragged, cheap-looking clothing - so one could obviously make the mistake that they were stret urchins or orphans in denial about their state of parental abandoment. But the two didn't seem to want to quit any time soon, and continued their back-and-forth of pestering anyone they could catch up with or who had stopped for whatever reason.

Elsewhere, along the southern main street, a group of suspscious people were hanging about. They were offering people to play some sort of simple game, where one had to find a marble placed under one of three cups, after the cups had been suffled around. The man doing the shuffling looked like a sleazy, middle-aged good-for-nothing, while his two assistants - two buxom and sultry ladies in scandalous clotes - beckoned and urged any nearby traveller to try their hand at the game. And if a smile and skimpy outfits didn't work, cozying up to, grabbing an arm and pressing their chest against said arm, seemed to do the trick. Amusingly, the dealer seemed to lose very seldom, and when he did, it was always when the adversary had made a very modest bet... Strange how that was...

There were however many other things going on, all throughout the city, all at the same time. But to observe and mention every last one, that would be an insane undertaking that nobody in their right mind wold have time for.

So, in the end, was it a normal day then? For Orario, it certainkly was. But for any new arrivals, that may not be the case.
Well then, my lovelies. Big news for us all.

The roleplay is now full.

All character slots have been filled and all characters have been finalized and accepted. At this point we are no longer accepting new recruits. If you want to apply and be put in a queue, in case any of our current memembers leave, you are free to leave me a PM or VM letting me know.

For now though...

With everyone done with their sheets, we can finally begin the actual roleplay! Now I would normally get right to work and start writing up the initial IC post with a fevered frenzy, but alas, as of me writing this post the time is 11:23 PM, and I got work at 7:00 AM...

So, unfortunaely, I cannot give you an immediate start to the story just yet. You'll have to wait for me to get back home tomorrow., at which point I will dedicate all my time for the rest of that day to give you something to start enjoying. Hopefully. Maybe.

For now though, please enjoy each others' company, talk amongst yourselves, get to know your future roleplayers, make little plans for possible in-story run-ins/events or collab posts you might wanna do! I dunno, otherwise, just talk and goof around, that's why the OOC is here after all. :P

As for me, I'm gonna head to bed and think/dream about what to write up tomorrow, and I'll likely spend all day at work distracted by that thought too... SO THANKS ALOT YU GUIZE! D:<
Conjuring dancing flames is fine, however, having multiple "forms" of a magic is a rather high-level skill. What would be more plausible is if she chanted the spell and then fire the flames into the air, or somewhere they would fizzle out and exprie before they caused any damage. Magic cast by people without a falna is much weaker than that of those who do have one, so it wouldn't be a particularly dangerous spell.

If you want some kind of illusion, that's fine too. It means you'd be screwed if you ever ended up in a situation where you're all alone in a combat-enviroment, what with being slow as heck and having no endurance or stamina, but hey, if that's your cup of tea, go for that instead. :)
Alrighty Vertigo, good work on the character. She sounds absolitely terrible, which is great, because terrible people make for fun interactions. xD

However, before I can accept your little fox-lady, we'll need to talk about her history;

With the exception of "chantless" magic, like Bell Cranel's "Firebolt", there's no real way one could use magic for street performances. Unless she specifically was taught things equivalent to fireworks or simple illusions, it's very unlikely that anyone would waste their few, limited number of spell slots for that. Then again, Ayame likely didn't know she was going to end up a street-rat and could have learned this simply to entertain herself while living in luxury, then ending up being forced to use it as a means to make money.

So, while your history is in no way wrong, the way you've built your caracter right now means you may end up having a "Party Trick" spell take up one of your spell slots, a spell that looks pretty but doesn't really accomplish much else. If you're fine with that, let me know. Otherwise, we'll have to figure out a clever way to edit that part.

Otherwise, the character is great and I'll be sending you info about her Stats and Skills soon. ^^
Good to hear, Vertigo. :)

Since we had two votes for Athena and two votes for dice rolling, we eneded up with Athena getting two votes, Hel getting one vote and Nike getting one vote.
Becausse of this, we will be the Athena Familia.
I've gone ahead and posted Athena's character sheet in the Char-tab. I will also add a link to the first post.
Name: Athena
Age: Ageless
Gender: Female
Race: God

Appearance:

Athena has long, bright blonde hair, sharp blue eyes and fair, unblemished skin. She stands at just above average height and has a slender yet fit body. Her chest is of average size. She dresses in a very elaborate and stylish outfit, with a lot of attention to details but without being needlessly gaudy.

She wears a pair of thighhigh boots, which are also embellished and adorned, as well as sometimes wearing a somewhat odd, crown-like headpiece. She typically has a somewhat serious or stern expression on her face and her posture is always straight and dignified... Unless she becomes flustered, at which point she will blush profusely and become fidgety and about as graceful as a embarrassed child.

Height: 5'6" / 167 cm
Weight: 132 lb / 60 kg
Eye color: Blue
Hair color: Bright blonde

Personality:
The Goddess of War and Wisdom is a complex woman. She is serious, a hard worker, disciplined and dignified. She is calm and level-headed, with immense patience and a very open and accepting mind. But on the other hand, she can be very strict, prone to high standards, stubborn and has a penchant for lecturing others, often to their great dismay and at considerable length. She is very protective of her Familia and has a very motherly attitude towards its members, worrying about them constantly and sometimes being overbearing or doting.

That being said, when someone in the Familia does soemthing she doesn't approve of, Athena is not adverse to punishing them. This usually manifesting itself in the manner of her spanking the offender, infront of the rest of the Familia, while mercilessly berating them and explaining why they are being disciplined. According to the other Familia members, Athena's spanking skills are far more terrifying than any injury a monster can inflict.

However, despite her serious and often rather rigid manners, Athena has softer and, some would say, more humorous sides to her as well. When it comes to the topic of carnal desires, the Goddess will become incredibly bashful and uncomfortable. If asked why she has no boyfriend, she will become incredibly defensive and upset, followed by depression. Perhaps most interesting though, is how she will squeal and become as excited as a small girl whenever she sees anything with a unicorn... She is also not a very physical person and will get very red if suddenly embraced or engaged in more intimate physical contact.

Despite being a Goddess of War, Athena is neither a violent or explosive woman. Instead, she values the self-restraint and responsability that comes with knowing how to fight. She prefers to solve conflicts through negotiations and compromise, and will only resort to force if there is no other option, or if she is forced to do so. That being said, the Goddess has no tolerance or forgiveness for those wou would hurt her Familia and she is known to be very cautious and careful around the other Gods and Goddesses.

She is also an inredible lightweight when it comes to alochol and will get drunk, and rowdy, whenever she gets to drinking - much to the chagrin and embarrassment of her Familia. Normally very produd, confident and inspiring, when Athena's advice is not beneficial, her knowledge lacking, her horrible cooking is pointed out or any other thing that may indicate her to be soemhow flawed, the Goddess gets very depressed and will opt to sit hunched in a corner, hugging her legs while mumbling in a deadpan, dismayed voice to herself. Also, for whatever reason, children seem to be afraid of her, which is another point of dismay for her.

Background:
Like the other Gods and Goddesses, Athena descended nt to Earth several centuries ago. However, her early years were spent contending with her long-time rival and enemy, Ares. At this time, they were both far away from Orario and did not know much about it. At this point, Athena had established a small, but capable Familia who governed a fortified village and lived there relatively well.

That is until Ares showed up and started harassing them. Eventually, the other God managed to oust Athena, simply due to his overwhelming number of followers who lusted for conflict and destruction, as opposed to her own warriors who favored control and aimed to protect. She was thus on the run, ushered by her followers to escape and regroup somewhere else. For a long, long time she spent all her days walking and hiding... Until she eventually had lost most of her Children and was near the point of giving up, due to the guilt and sadness she felt at the loss of her loyal soldiers who gave their life one after the other to keep her safe.

But that changed once they came to Orario. Ares, for whatever reason, stopped pursuing her and returned to his antics across the outside world. Relieved to be free of her hunter, Athena took the surviving members of her followers and founded their Familia. At first it was a small, humblle group with few members, but over the years it grew and its peak, the Familia had just above two dozen members. They were all of varied skill and strength, but it was a happy and pleasant time, one that helped heal the Goddess weariness and sorrow from her past.

Fate, however, decided it was not done with Athena yet, and about six years ago, it brought tragedy upon her yet again. While most of her Familia were on an adventure in the Middle Floors of the dungeon, an unexpected Monster Parade took place, catching the members off-guard. It was a disaster, and only a handful of the Familia managed to make it out. Her Familia had, in an instant, dwindled to less than a quarter of its original size. The Goddess took this very hard and suffered from low spirits and more guilt for a very long time.

Only in recent days has she recovered to her former self, now accepting new members into the Familia. Unfortunately, the small size and relatively poor strength of the Familia, as well as the rumor about it being all but wiped out, has led to nearly no new Children wanting to apply... Athena's recrutiment method and high standards doesn't help either...

Wallet: Athena has access to, as well as handles, all the Familia's funds.
To clarify any misconceptions:

All classes can learn magic/spells, Mages just have an easier time increasing their Magic Stat and gaining Magic-related Personal Skills. Mages can fight using weapons, but they're usually not as good as Adventurers who primarily focus on that aspect.

A die, huh? I just so happen to have a Online Dice Roller app open in my internet tab here...

Edit:
I've added OwO and Dahlia to the list of crrent players. Please remember to post Dahlia's sheet in the Char-tab of this thread. :)

I've also added the 'Magic, Spells & Chants'-link in the 'Important Information' part of the first post, in case anyone wants or needs to read up on that. It contains some very useful information, like the different types of magic, what happens if you fail at spellcasting and contains a long list of spells and their respective chants.

I'm going to head to bed very soon however, so I bid you all a good night and hope to see you all tomorrow again. ^^
Hah, nice work, OWO.

I'd suggest you just think about what you want her focus to be though. Do you want her to be able to fight, but use some magic, then maker her class Adventurer. If you want to focus on magic, make her a Mage. There's no rule or anything that says Adventurers can't learn and use magic (see; Bell Cranel, Welf Crozzo and Ryuu Lion), nor that mages can't actually fight (see: Riveria).

The classes are mostly there to help you decide what you want to focus on majorly. Also, don't forget to vote for what Goddess you want from the little list, and don't forget to add the 'Class' and 'Familia' sections to your sheet (check the updated Character Sheet in the first post of the OOC).

Other then that, Dahlia looks real nice. I don't see any reason why I shouldn't accept her right now. So once you finish editing the missing bits, I'll go ahead and contact you cia PM regarding stats and skills and whatnot. :)
I've updated the "Important Information"-section with links that go to various parts of the wiki that may be very useful to anyone looking for more information. Please note though that the map of both Orario and the Dungeon are going to be slightly different in this story, since it takes place in the slight past and the supplied maps are of the "current" or "present" Orario/Dungeon.

Also, note that the Skills Lists aren't complete. There are plenty of other skills, in both categories, out there. I just thought it would be helpful to add these so you could all see how Skills work and such.
