"You don't have to apologize, I know you were only looking out for me, and I do appreciate that." Madison took a bite of her chicken and had a spoonful of the mashed potatoes. "Mm, I could get used to this," she added, trying to change the subject to lighten up the conversation between her and Kain. He was a tad more quiet than before, back when they first met, although the altercation that he'd just had with the others was very likely the reason for his lack of words. As much as she tried to focus on him and ignore everyone else around her though, and by everyone it was mostly Vlad, Madison couldn't help but keep her eyes trained on him as he got up to head outside. When she looked back towards his table, she happened to notice a guy sitting with her bag.

"Are you kidding me?!" Madison got up, telling Kain she'd be right back before making her way over to that table to confront the boy who had her belongings.

"Hey, what do you think you're doing with that?" She pointed to the bag before snatching it from his side. "Are you working with him now?"

Ding dong

Jennifer entered the empty gas station, her "grand" entrance grabbing the attention of the man behind the counter. As she walked over to him, she avoided eye contact knowing a little too well he was staring her down. When she noticed he wasn't letting her out of his sight, even though she was almost at the counter, her anger got the best of her.

"Hey!" she yelled, slapping the counter between them with an open palm. "My eyes are up here buddy!" She pointed them out with two fingers, the man quickly apologizing and avoiding eye contact from that point on. "I'm sorry, how can I help you?"

"That's more like it," she added. "Which direction is Eddinsburgh?"

He pointed past her. "It's about a 40 minute ride from here."

Jennifer cursed under her breath. "Alright, thank you." She didn't wait for a reply from the man, and instead, rushed out the door.

Ding dong

As soon as she got outside, Jennifer breathed a sigh of relief, although she couldn't help but feel like a complete idiot. Her phone wasn't working anymore, but she still carried one of her cards with her in her wallet. She noticed an ATM in the distance and decided that the walk of shame was worth her getting her hands on some cash in order to get home.

She had seen enough. If Madison hadn't given away the fact that Vlad was nearby, Kain would have never gone over to him and knocked his tray down, thus starting this violent cycle. She put her food down, which remained untouched despite her hunger, and rushed over the small troublesome group.

"Kain, please stop." She stepped between him and Gus in an attempt to break up whatever fight they had left in them. "Gus, he's not the bad guy. I mean, none of you are."

With that, she grabbed Kain's hand and ushered him away from the center of the hall. "Excuse me, can you please give him some food?" she said to one of the servers behind the counter. Madison motioned for Kain to hand over his voucher and he obliged, although not without being a bit hesitant first. "Please, sit down and eat. Can you do that for me?" She grabbed her own food which had been left in the same spot she put it down on. "Better yet, how about we eat together?" She gave him a smile hoping that the kind gesture would calm him down a bit. The last thing she needed was for half of the school to fight because of her issues with Vlad.
