You know that feeling when you feel like you should be doing something, recognize that you're not doing anything, but then proceed to continue to do nothing? That's me. Everyday.

Inuzuka Compound, Konohagakure
Present Day, Daybreak
@The 42nd Gecko

Inuzuka Kimura’s morning started off just like any other of her mornings, with loud noises, harried shouts, and the consequences of waking up unprepared to a figurative symphony of traps all around her room that she hadn’t placed, herself.

“Wah!” The sudden cry of shock from a young girl filled the room as the aspiring kunoichi, Inuzuka Kimura, dove through the opening connecting the common area of her home to her room, her ninken partner clutched fiercely in her protective grip as the icy blue rattling of metal impacting tatami echoed from her previous spot in the adjacent room. Visibly disheveled and still wearing their respective pajamas, the two stayed perfectly still, eyes and ears rotating around the living space as their noses cautiously sniffed the open air. Well acquainted with the source of their current predicament, the two Inuzuka were perfectly aware of the possibility of an air-based chemical agent being used against them and were prepared to move at the slightest inclination of anything out of place.

After a minute of tense waiting, Kimura’s grip finally slackened, a heavy exhale escaping from her mouth as she rises from the crouch she had rolled into instinctively. Her ninken, however, stayed very much alert, even as his partner voices her relief. “Whew, that was really close, wasn’t it Gureeeeeeeeeeh!”

The moment she had risen to half of her height, a series of mechanisms were set off all at once, icy blue filling the edges of her vision as metal piece after metal piece clanked off one after the other. After a few dizzying moments where the young girl couldn’t tell her ups from her downs, Kimura found herself suspended ten feet off the floor, with the floor beneath her head and her legs bound above her, various pointy metal implements poised to perforate her many vital organs as her ninken growled out in chocolate brown distress, a paw pressed against his forehead. “Huh? But I thought we checked everything already! Did we agree that we couldn’t hear nor smell any metal, Gure?”

“You should have understood by now that I’ve already prepared a counter for such a thing,” the warm yet gruff sulfur yellow voice drew both of their attention as the green clack of wood reaches their ears, the visage of Inuzuka Obu appearing from the shadows as he rests his hands upon his cane, his single leg relieving the weight of his body onto the wooden implement as he gazes up at his unfortunately tied up daughter. “Now, again. You aren’t going to your graduation until your danger instincts have woken up.”

She wasn’t allowed to sit down and eat breakfast until she finally made her way through the onslaught without getting caught or hurt once, taking up enough time that she thought she might’ve missed the ceremony. Not only would the young Inuzuka have missed her chance of seeing all of her classmates together for one last time before splitting off into their respective teams, but she also wouldn’t have had the chance to update her personal info books on them. The last test revealed some information that she’d been dying to jot down and speculate about, but her father hadn’t given her a chance to do so until she’d been properly woken up.

When Kimura looked out the cracks of a boarded-up window to check the time, however, she was surprised to see the sun still fairly low in the distance. How early had her father woken her up today? Sure, he ambushed her even at ungodly hours whenever he felt that she was slacking in her vigilance, but to do so on the day of her graduation… even her father should understand the importance of being there on time, right?

Scarfing down her rice bowl as quickly as she could, after thoroughly checking that it wasn’t poisoned, of course, Kimura’s ears twitched as the sound of a pebble clacking against the roof of their house reached her ears, drawing her father and ninken’s attention as well. "KIMURA! WANNA WALK TO SCHOOL TOGETHER? I BROUGHT AN UMBRELLA."

The familiar pineapple yellow voice of her good friend Asami caused the would-be-kunoichi to perk up and quickly looked towards her father with pleading eyes. The one-legged father scratches at his chin, an unassuming hum rumbling in the back of his throat even as Guremaru rolled his eyes, rising from his doggy bowl to climb into Kimura’s hair, already knowing what answer the man would give. “When you return home, I want you to debrief yourself on any change in her usual attitude and social patterns, understood?”

“Yes Papa! ASAMI-CHAN, I’M ON MY WAY OUT!” Kimura accepts joyfully, calling back to her friend as she ran up to her father to plant a kiss on his cheek before scooping up her ninja tools, strapping various holsters to her legs and forearms and hiding them beneath the large sleeves of an orange kimono with blue dogs prancing across the fabric. The daughter waved goodbye as Gure barked out a promise towards her partner’s single parent, gaining an understanding smile in response before the duo run out to where Asami awaits.

“Sorry, Asami-chan! Papa wanted to play a bunch of games before I left,” Kimura attempted to explain, somewhat out of breath as she came to a stop alongside her friend. The grey puppy laying on her head barked out in greeting to the Sarutobi, but snuggled into his partner’s hair and quickly fell asleep as the trio began to make their way to the Academy. “Aren’t you exicted, Asami-chan? Today, we finally get to become real kunoichi! Unless the graduation ceremony is actually a foreign nation’s attempt to secretly trick and kidnap a bunch of children from Konoha… But I really hope it isn’t that!”
The toppest of keks

Also, finally cashing in on that promise I made...

Hyuga Compound, headed to the Shinobi Academy, Konohagakure
Present Day, Daybreak
@Raijinslayer

In the case of most aspiring shinobi, the day of graduation is one of the greatest moments of their lives. The first step in their dreams of becoming true ninja, no longer stuck within a stuffy classroom and forced to study day after day, and fully on their way into their future profession. It should’ve been the same for Hyuga Hikari, as she awakened from her slumber early in the morning, preparing herself for the day to come as she executed the motions of her daily routine.

But to her, it was merely another day, which just so happened to involve her graduation from the Academy.
Any other possibility did not exist. To have failed to graduate, to be a step behind her peers, was never an option. She would have rather died on the spot rather than sully the reputation of her clan with such a display of incompetence.

Yet, by the time she had gotten her personal affairs in order, the sun had merely begun to peek over the horizon. So, she utilized the excess time in a productive manner. The wooden training dummies in one of the compound’s many training rooms were implements she was well acquainted with, and her quick, precise movements with minimum overextension belied the power behind each of her finger pokes and palm strikes, faint puffs of chakra exploding outwards with each hit as imaginary tenketsu points are closed within her mental picture of a person’s chakra system.

It wasn’t a perfect recreation, she hadn’t quite memorized the position of the human body’s inner systems to have a one-to-one visualization, but it serviced her well enough as the satisfying sound of cracking wood reaches her ears. Pulling her palm away from the dent she had created in her current target, she released a calming sigh as she went through the procedure of replacing the dummy. Main branch members relied on the lower branch to resupply their tools whenever anything was below a workable standard, leaving many a training ground trashed for others to clean up. But as a lower branch member herself, Hikari was expected to replace anything she broke with due haste, in case any main branch members wished to utilize the training room at any point in time. With how frequently of an occurrence it was for her, the formerly disgruntling act did not bother her as much, noticing that enough time had passed since she began training that the Academy would opening its doors within the next hour or so.

Refreshing herself with a lukewarm bath and a formal kimono for the upcoming event, a thirteen-piece ensemble of white and grey that befits a member of her clan, Hikari bowed towards her parents as she sliped on her outdoor footwear at the entrance of her home. “Have a good day, mother, father. I will return as soon as the graduation ceremony has finished.”

“I will be here to greet you then, daughter.” Her formal greeting towards her parents is responded to just as politely as her mother returned the bow with her own, her father only grunting to recognize his daughter’s declaration. While she did not have a close emotional tie to her immediate family, they had taken care of her throughout her life, and so she found it proper to inform them of her coming and going as to not cause them any undue worry over whether or not she was disgracing the clan with her actions.

Her surface level duties as a child met, Hikari left the building without delay, the branch members guarding the Hyuga Clan district gates recieving a polite nod as she headed towards the Academy. The streets were relatively empty, with only business owners, early risers, and other students of the Academy visible during this time of day. With her Byakugan active, she was capable of correcting her course to intentionally avoid the latter groups, unwilling to interact with her peers before reaching the Academy. A glimpse of Yakushi Tsume causes her to pause, but she continued onwards, convincing herself that she could speak with one of her few acquaintances in length at the Academy.

The same could not be said when a less than desirable person had coincidentally crossed with her path. She wasn’t quite sure what it was that drew her to meet with them, whether it was the novelty of the act, a fleeting whim, or the sharp, curdling feeling one experiences when catching sight of something that they detested, yet the Hyuuga branch member found her feet leading herself to stand before the redhead at the Academy. “Ah, so you’ve arrived. The fact that you possess the ability to pull yourself out of bed and ignore your crippling fear of the opposite sex each day you’re at the Academy is quite the achievement. I suppose congratulations are in order for suppressing at least one of your multiple flaws for the sake of bettering yourself, Uzumaki-san.”
