"Y-yeah, I'll be fine" These shadows were obviously part of Quill's odd abilities. He had control over the current power situation, but it seemed obvious that heightened stress situations trigger episodes like this.

Quill would begin to be surrounded in a dark shadowy substance. It would wrap around him like a black cloak, and he would put his hood up, hiding from the new individual, his eyes would lock on to her, worryingly.
