I would sooner face outright phobia again than be given a half-hearted apology by the same systems which did nothing in the face of injustice and to now seek to make profit from our suffering.

I will never celebrate Pride Month for being stabbed in the leg and shot in the neck while it is sponsored by Chase. I will never mistake complacency for forgiveness nor acceptance.

Pride Month is celebrate by those who have never struggled. Those of us who have - those who have been harassed, assulted, detained and debased - have no such pride in it. There is only ire and spite.

So sorry if I'm not enthused. It's just that there's nothing to be happy about now, and people just buy rainbow stuff from the same corps who need us kept down to sell them in the first place.

“There was a time when I was master of the universe. As I was staying ageless and motionless before my computer, flying untouched over human frenzy, cities rose and crumbled under my thumb, tiny people ran hurriedly to their death on the roads I had built and time flew at my command.
Then it all stopped, and I had to become one of those running specks. They call it 'life.'”
1991. Against all odds, the world remains standing.
In 1898, Sir Ingel Langley accidentally uncovered the secret to the mysterious compound which littered the Earth. Coined Langium, the subsequent Langley-Milentroff Process was a means by which colossal amounts of energy could be harvested. His discovery changed the course of history, Langium-powered factories and power plants propelling the world into a bewildering age of technological and social advancement. Far more efficient than coal, oil, wind, or water, Langium gasification turned virtually any product into electricity, and jettisoned the world into an era of advancement. For a time, the progress seemed limitless. Langium dominated the global scene.
Then on a fateful day in 1961, the world stood still.
For only a few brief moments, They came.
They came unannounced, unceremoniously. Without warning nor hesitation, as if the world was Theirs to own. They came, stopped for only a short while, never once bothering for contact nor communication, and departed. In Their wake remained the lasting trace of Their existence, undeniable proof of a secret to shock the world to its core. Their visit confirmed a suspicion once thought to be the stuff of dreams: That Langium was of otherworldly origin.
They came and left, yet it was not in their momentary picnic which astounded the world. As with every vacation, the visitors left remarkable trace of their visit. As they departed, mysterious reports spread like a pox dots across the skin. Otherworldly materials reacted with Langium deposits, infecting machinery and nature alike with its eldritch influence. Incredible materials - dubbed New-Langium Compounds, or NLC's - were introduced to the globe...with drastic effects. In the wake of their reactions, hazardous anomalies spread throughout the world's zones in contact with Langium and NLC's, often without rhyme nor discrimination. Some places had gravity cease to be, its industries turning to colossal floating complexes that drift like schools of fish amidst the sea. In some places, rivers turned to a gaseous plasma, the waters which once ran freely convulsing like mist dripping along a sieve. Mysterious sea-green webs turned the hands of those who touched it into pure calcified bone. Metal molted to blistering temperature, yet always retaining their solid shape and form while their extraneous heat warped the world to a hellscape. Rusted iron bolts cured blindness to whoever touched it. These are but a few of the many effects the anomalies have had upon the world.
Yet, within the world's anomalous zones, mysterious compounds and otherworldly items were discovered, with miraculously potent effects. Dubbed artifacts, these precious things produced medicines and machines once thought impossible to create by modern science, yet within the zones they were found and thrive. Yet, even as these incredible artifacts took to the world by storm, it was quickly discovered that we lacked the understanding and capability to reproduce any of these things on Earth.
The shock of the Visitation was enormous, to say little of its full effects. In almost an instant, the Old Order of the world had the rug yanked from beneath its feet. The Old Order of Gods and World were stripped away, revealing truths of a universe far more alien than perhaps any could have known. Many governments struggled to maintain themselves in the chaos, and the Legacy of the Visitation has touched the world far greater than any war nor invention.
Yet, as the Old World gave Caesarean birth to the New World, the greatest legacy of The Visitation lay right above our heads.
It is faint, always visible, yet always distant. Its presence leaves a chilling radiance, a feeling apropos the soft, chilling light of a winter's full moon, equally brilliant in both its coolness and its luminescence. It hovers over the world, softly pulsating its alien light throughout the sky like the heartbeat of a lighthouse.
It is the New Earth Oracle, and it gazes upon the world as The Gods look down from Heaven.
It is infallible proof that we are not alone in the universe, that They exist and have knowledge which far surpasses our own.
And, perhaps if we wish to undo the calamitous effects of the Visitation and NLC's, the Oracle will have the answers we so desperately seek. Yet, if humanity wishes to leave its cradle, then of course, it would do well to ensure the cradle is without splinter nor rot, for even the tiniest splinter may give rise to the gravest of infections. There are plenty on Earth who wish to upturn the Visitation; Those who demand that humanity shut itself in, and those who suggest it be dragged kicking and screaming into a new era, by any means necessary.
In the year 1991, the course lie ahead, tenuous and arduous. To uncover the true nature of Langium and The Visitation, nations must combat threats both within, without, and beyond. The issues of the Old World have never gone away, and the troubles of the New World will push even the strongest to their limits. Terrorism, economic hardship, environmental disaster, and more plague the world. Yet as we all know, in every crisis lay opportunity, and in such infinite wisdom there is equal capacity to emerge with the advancement of all humankind.

"'Vinto-Futurism?' What's that supposed to mean?"
"Vinto-Futurism" is a term I coined a little while ago when coming up with the best concept pitch for the setting of N.E.O.'s world. To break it down:
Vinto / Vintage -> "Classic in style, typically denoted to be at least 20 years of age." Futuristic -> "(of a film or book) set in the future, typically in a world of advanced or menacing technology."
Vinto-Futuristic -> "A stylistic setting based off of what we believed the near future would look like from the perspective of the 1990s and early 2000s."
Think of settings as seen in The Matrix, Half-Life, Metal Gear Solid 4, STALKER, and AKIRA as examples of what a Vinto-Futuristic setting would look like. Space exploration, the military-industrial complex, globe-spanning terrorist organizations, economic upheaval, and an increasingly digitized and sensationalized world are all core themes of a Vinto-Futuristic setting.
"What does the technology of N.E.O. look like?"
For most of the world's average people, the technology of the world is reminiscent of that found in our own during the Early Information Age: Cell phones, computers, Personal Digital Assistants (Remember when these were a thing?), early unmanned drones, genetically modified crops, laser surgery, and the like are all features of the technological capacity. Of course, given the more science-fiction induced advancements of Langium in the world of N.E.O., power and energy is far ahead of our own world even now. Langium-based engines and turbines output levels of energy at greater efficiency than we have even now, roughly equatable to low-temperature nuclear fusion. Bio-engineering and biotechnology are also quite advanced, featuring genetic modification as one might see in 90s B-Movies.
"What is Langium?"
The world is filled with a resource called Langium, which through what's known as the, "Langley-Milentroff Process", produces amounts of stable energy similar to plasma gasification, yet with energy output similar to the theoretical capacity of nuclear fission. In 1961, the world was shocked by a series of alien visitations which confirmed that what they knew about Langium's capabilities was just the tip of the iceberg for what it could possibly do. Langium can - under the right circumstances and with the correct catalysts - completely reverse or break the laws of physics as we understand them, but it seems that the chemical compounds by which this may occur are both not native to the planet and are seemingly beyond the current ability to reproduce artificially.
This, of course, means that humanity must leave its cradle if it is to unlock the true mysteries of Langium...and, perhaps, find Things Man Was Not Meant To Know.
Name: List down the shorthand and official name of your country.
Flag: Create your own flag or blatantly steal one from off the web someplace.
Government: Your government's system and ideology which is currently in power.
Territory: The territory under the control of this current government. History: The full history of your nation isn't necessary; Most have been around in some form for hundreds - if not thousands - of years. To keep it simple, it's better to answer the following prompts:
Pre-Visitation: What was the country like just prior to the Visitation of 1961?
The Visitation: When the Visitation occurred and the disasters of NLC's began to become widespread throughout the world, how did this affect the country? What happened to the people? To the government? The economy?
Recent History: How has the country attempted to recover from the effects of the Visitation? Has it benefited from the chaos and upheaval, or has its prestige hit an all-time low? Are its people hopeful or dreadful of what the future has in store?
Pressing Issues: Every country has its issues, and yours is no exception. What does the country struggle with in the aftermath of the Visitation? Remember, the effects of the Visitation are incredibly long - some experts even go as far as to say "permanent". Does it struggle with arable, untainted farmland? Is its financial sector in ruins? Does corruption run rampant? Is crime out of control? Does the government owe crippling debt it can't hope to repay?
Budget: For N.E.O., I want to try something different. Instead of using a standard segmentation of "economy", "military", and the like, instead you set and create an annual fiscal budget, split into several different spending categories.
Economic Subsidies: Any subsidies and expenditures for companies, corporations, industry, and business, whether they are publicly or privately owned.
Social Welfare: The expenditures for worker pensions, unemployment, welfare, public healthcare, social security, and other government-run social programs.
Research & Development: All spending used on research grants directly from the government.
Transportation: Spending for transportation and infrastructure projects and upkeep, such as roads, highways, railways, and airstrips.
Food & Agriculture: Budget allocated for agricultural relief and development. This also includes environmental cleanup efforts caused by NLC's, oil spills, and other natural disasters.
Military & Defense: Funding for military equipment, personnel, and maintenance. More often than not, the Defense budget also affects space programs.
Education: Expenditures for all public educational facilities, such as schools, universities, libraries, museums, and archives.
Liquid Reserves: All liquid assets allocated towards reserves to pay off interest accumulated by debt.

Are We Getting Closer, or Are We Getting More Lost?
The Lion and The Zookeeper
Macha is incredibly proud of its triumphant history of revolution, much like a zookeeper is proud of an old lion.
Many prominent politicians in the Crimson Court have largely rejected communist "orthodoxy", believing that such steadfast, uncompromising ideals are the bygone relics of a former era. Embittered and hardened by decades of realpolitik and Cold War opportunism, the idealism of communism has all but evaporated from the ethos of Machan politicians. Their heroes - their icons - have mellowed with age, follow rules that they once disobeyed, now being led when they used to lead the way. The spirit of revolution that once propelled the Machan nation from a backwards kingdom into the forefront of the world is kept by ball and chain in its cage, where it may be taken out in ceremony and returned to its incarceration when its veneration is no longer appropriate.
Does Macha still believe in all the things that it stood by before? Does it care to be the architect of what it may create? Or are the ideals of the past a death-spiral that will seal its undoing?
Let The Bad Times Roll
Machanese culture has undergone something of a renaissance with the blossoming of its film industry, but not in its limelight. The birthplace of Macha's famous music and greatest artworks had no place in cinemas or galleries, but in basements and garages, where its most acclaimed musicians, painters, and filmmakers passed cassettes between hands in private parties. Formally, the act of publishing without license by the Press Authority of Macha is illegal, yet the ubiquitous presence of these "pirate pieces" leaves the effectiveness of this legislation to be questionable. In one district, the artist of pirated art may find himself jailed for ten years, while in the district not 5 kilometers away, he will be discharged without even a warning by the same authority.
The Press authorities have largely had a...lethargic response to these illegal activities. Hardliners in the Party insist that the Machan cultural underground will be a breeding ground for counterrevolutionaries and reactionaries, but others say they're just kids. Even so, the exotic, illicit appeal of these quasi-legal art pieces bring incredible prestige to Machan culture.
Maybe the Party's hold on media should finally come to an end? Yet, hardliners warn the old time-tested adage: If you give a mouse a cookie, the entire pantry will follow soon after...

Skara possesses the distinctive, near-ethereal fairness of the Echani, sporting a fair complexion, striking silver-blue eyes, and matching hair color. Slightly longer than shoulder-length, Skara's distinctive cowlick ardently refuses any unassisted attempts to be brushed or combed back, and likewise any attempt to shift it only strengthens its resolve to retain its current position. Seemingly, Skara has grown accustomed to the partial obfuscation of her vision, and rarely makes any effort to attempt to tame it.
--- ---B I O G R A P H Y
The Echani homeworld of Eshan during the period prior to the Clone Wars was known to be a rather sizable haven of pirate activity, given its relative proximity to the Hyperlanes of the Inner Rim. Into these chaotic situations, Skara was born, being the third daughter of an Echani crime lord's rather sizable ring of lovers and affairs. To further complicate matters, the planet - and the Ishtara family with it - was prone to frequent and violent spouts of inter-gang and inter-pirate wars. It seemed as if Skara had a narrow and bleak life ahead of her, until on one fateful day a Jedi Knight was dispatched to Eshan, who saw something in the rather odd youth. When the Knight first approached her father on her force potential, however, he seemed oddly hesitant, noted to have gazed upon the Knight in such a way that evoked immense suspicion, in a case in which most parents would have been simply astounded to hear that their child could become a legendary Guardian of Peace. Initially, he refused to even humor the idea of taking her in for training, yet, after the continuous pleas of the the Knight, he found himself musing over the thought more and more. Just as the Knight had accepted his decision and was bound for departure, Skara's father finally approached him, opting for a peculiar bid with the Knight: In exchange for Skara's peerage, the Knight would help destroy his enemies in pirate clans and gangs while keeping him free from retaliation from the Jedi Order. Skara never received an explanation for either of their motives.
Even as a Jedi Youngling, Skara demonstrated an incredible aptitude for using the Force...when she wasn't being chastised for her equally miraculous ability to consistently deflect the teachings of her instructors. Skara's apprenticeship as a Jedi was lifelong plagued by a fundamental dissociation with her own mental processing and the pedagogy of the Jedi Order. She often proceeded to be unable to correctly process even basic instructions apropos the Jedi Code while also passing through training examinations with flying colors. More often than not, this received the suspicion of her masters instead of their commendation, and more often than not, Skara was asked if she was cheating. This disjointed relationship between master and disciple continued well into her tuition, and only with great reluctance did she eventually gain the rank of Padawan.
The emergence of the Clone Wars brought a great demand for officers, with many Jedi Knights soon departing the Temple for the battlefield. When she was but 15, the call to arms inevitably came along to Skara. Taking to the battlefield with the countless other Jedi, Skara soon found herself filling the shoes of not only Jedi, but also as intermediary between the officer of her master and the countless clone troopers beneath them. However, skill as a soldier was not, in the eyes of the Jedi Council, any substitute for a true understanding of the Force, and in spite of Skara's contributions to the fight, she was repeatedly passed over for promotion to Jedi Knight, the many masters firmly of the belief that she was not ready for such a position.
The last time Skara saw her master on that fated night, the two were fighting. Immensely displeased with her progression, the two's talks soonafter broke down, and, in an act that perhaps saved the Padawan's life, Skara stormed off from the Jedi Temple in Coruscant. Headed off to what was intended to be a place of temporary solace, little did Skara know that the events which were to unfold that night would forever change the Galaxy at large...
---S K I L L S
Stealth: Quite adept at going unnoticed, Skara has long been one to utilize the art of stealth to move about undetected. Though without official training, the Echani proves to be more than capable in making unperceived entries and exits. Jedi Training: In Echani culture, it was often said that combat was the purest means of communication. If such was well-known throughout the Jedi Temple, then perhaps it should have come as no surprise that Shii-Cho was Skara's most adept lightsaber form. Indeed, Skara swiftly came to the conclusion that many specialized forms of lightsaber combat filled little use, and often questioned the value in learning many of the forms. Accordingly, Skara opted only to build upon the basic Form I, constructing a fluid, rapidly adaptable form of lightsaber combat which - when combined adequately with the force forms - was highly effective...and highly unpredictable. Analytical Sense: Perhaps oddly, Skara's analytical mindset has lent her to being able to quickly locate patterns which others find take a while to uncover. Kinesthetic Sense: Skara has an excellent sense for the position of her body, able to maintain good balance and use the full force of her body to full effect. With an astounding comprehension of how the body works in motion, she is very well able to apply herself physically in a wide variety of scenarios.
While she is very good at understanding how the body works in motion, it does not translate as to why, and although this sense is easily able to be applied to movements, it does not necessarily apply to social awareness.
---A B I L I T I E S
Force Affinity: One of the many Force Forms, Affinity is the ideal form for a Jedi who is required to maintain a steady focus on the Force. It allows Jedi to rest in her connection in even the fiercest fight, in a manner that would normally be available only in peaceful meditation and away from distractions. This is an endurance form for Jedi; one could remain guarded while an enemy expended energy and eventually tired.
Force Potency: Of all of the Force Forms, Potency was the most offensively-inclined, as it directly enhanced a Jedi's capability to directly attack with the Force. With Potency, one could attack foes with far more potency, but at the price of leaving the user more quickly drained. Thus, Potency is favored in situations where resolving the conflict as swiftly as possible is the priority.
Telekinesis: Telekinesis is the ability to lift, move and otherwise manipulate physical matter in a variety of ways, all while using the power of the Force. The ability is virtually ubiquitous among Force-sensitive individuals and organizations, though the techniques could differ greatly. It has a tremendous number of applications, both combative and utilitarian.
Force Barrier: Considered by some to be an offshoot of Telekinesis, Force Barrier is a defensive technique which allows for the creation of a shield using Force energy, blocking any potentially deadly elements. Able to block a wide variety of dangers, from gases to explosions to energy bolts to transversal, Barrier is a widely utilitarian - if also very attention-demanding - technique within the Force.
Force Jump: Using the Force to both propel one's self as well as guide one's fall, the technique of Force Jump allows the user to augment their leaping ability to reach locations quickly and otherwise out of reach.
Force Cloak: Using the force to refract light and sound, the ability of Force Cloak allows a Jedi to become invisible to most beings. Although highly effective at rendering one's self invisible against organic foes, the power is quite taxing on the user when used for prolonged periods.
---W E A K N E S S E S
"But You Said-": Skara was always a difficult one to teach the Jedi Code to. Possessing a strong tendency to interpret phrases to their literal meaning with no regard for metaphor or epithet, much of the cryptic speech of the Jedi Order bounced right off of Skara's mind as a Jedi Youngling, her mind soon turning to a lost waltz in thought as the literal interpretation jumped from one subject to another. With her transition into a Padawan, this tendency has shown no sign to wear off anytime in the near or far future. In daily speech, sarcasm can quickly become lost on the Echani (unless it is explicitly a joke), and any requests or suggestions given to the young woman is likely to be taken with the utmost seriousness. First impressions with Skara will lend one to believe that she is, perhaps, "not all there" socially, as she sometimes has difficulty picking up social cues.
One should expect to be very direct in any dealings with Skara.
Lucid Monomania: Even at a young age, Skara was quite an intriguing pupil. Showing a strong connection with the Force in spite of her difficulties in comprehending the Jedi Teachings, her adeptness in the Force has proven to be a purely intuitive experience. This, combined with her aforementioned social ineptitude, proves any attempt to rationalize her experience with the Force to be an holistically frustrating affair. Such an inability to extenuate her own thoughts is a ceaseless battle, and one against which she has fought since she could first feel the Force's touch.
Without the guidance of a strong and patient master, Skara's philosophical understanding of the Force may prove itself to be very...malleable.
What Killed The Cat?: Above all, Skara is quite the curious kitten. Skara holds very little sacred and is more than happy to rigorously and ruthlessly inspect anything and everything, and if even the most hallowed of beliefs could not be connected nor explained, then she likewise saw little reason to pay much mind to them at all.
Of course, such a demeanor inevitably leads to countless intrusions...both upon others and upon her own teachings.

Skara's Lightsaber Skara's lightsaber is of a double-bladed make, inserted with a blue crystal. The hilt is rather modest, as modest as the lengthy device can be. In most engagements, Skara opts to only activate one blade, noting that the additional length of the double-bladed hilt allows for finer minute control of the lightsaber over single-bladed variants, to say little of the additional trickery that comes with an additional blade to be activated as the situation permits.
Datapad A personal datapad which can reliably access and interact with digital data. This particular datapad contains most of Skara's personal documents, and is otherwise unremarkable in its function or appearance.
