I enjoyed the character sheet, Hawk, good job ^_^

I'm curious if his ability to read surface thoughts can be clouded or resisted depending on the person and the circumstances.

Also thanks for the mention of Athriohm in there, nice to have a bit of integration :P

Welcome back Fallen!

Sounds like an interesting idea, Clon, can't wait to see how you play this one out :3

Um...that's the plot that didn't involve Mary right? >_>

No one is safe >:3
As a note Wind, and Merlin, the Art of Athriohm is not strictly enchanting (by either of our definitions) and is a far more broad variety of magic really. Heck, a lot of human magic has properties similar to the Art, either unintentionally, or because the Art was likely the first, or one of the first, human magics whether people are aware of it or not.

In terms of changing the properties of materials, that is one of the chief things that Practitioners can do. It's what I referred to as "Weaving," in the description. Taking the properties of one thing and imbuing them into something else. However, if you did not have those properties from the essence of another material, you could instead use Sigil making (either by literally making seals or by simply mimicking the proper patterns) and alter, bolster, or add to the traits of a given object or thing. One of the limiters on it, though, is that Practitioners can only alter their own bodies (still limited as it does not allow one to change into an animal or the like) and the bodies of either those who consent to such, or of that which is inanimate. There are good reasons for such, and I'm working on writing them up :P

I just thought I'd clarify that bit regarding the Art as it is a very broad discipline when it comes to what it can accomplish. I mean, you can fling fireballs, create ice, chang ethe temperature, instigate weather changes, bind things, imbue things with different properties, etc etc.

On the other hand, one can do this without using the Art. One can instead use another type of magic to do so, though it may be similar, and will always be based around the use of Essence (as that's how magic works in this verse).

But yeah. I'll stop rambling now. I think I'll start working on the necessary revamps to Szayeis (as I never did get to finish up his little...plot) and perhaps Mairyell. Not sure about the Broker though, still gotta figure him out.

Saella, maybe. Vaihrn...who knows.
Haha, oh no, Enchantment is quite viable actually! I kind of helped spearhead that particular branch of magic (which is purely human and is ancient as all hell, though it was seldom used due to most humans being unable to access their own essence waaay back when). It's called the Art of Athriohm, though you can enchant without it, it's very useful to utilize it as it's a proven and effective method.

I'll give you the basic description for now, and keep working on the write up I started awhile back for a more indepth description of it.

The Art of Athriohm:

An ancient magic of unknown origin, Athriohm has to deal with the manipulation of various magical energies, both from the user and various materials and the like. Most practitioners of the Art are able to pull various energies out of even inanimate objects, as each thing that exists holds its own power, effect, or inherent traits. One might call this essence, but perhaps not. Regardless, the Art is capable of then imbuing the essence(s) it has drawn out into other objects freely by weaving the two (or more) energies together into a cohesive whole. Depending on the complexity of the energies and the skill of the user, more complex effects and modifications can be made. This modification is commonly known as enchanting, though in truth it is called 'imbuing' or 'weaving'. The other aspect of the art is the ability to create, weave, and place what are referred to as 'seals' by most, but are actually called 'sigils'. Sigil making is different from imbuing due to the fact that imbuing takes preexisting attributes and reallocates them into new entities, while sigils take preexisting essence, or the essence of the user, and modify it in such a way as to suit their purposes.

Thus, the Art of Athriohm is essentially the fine tuned control of essence and how it interacts with various objects and magical symbols. It is the control of essence (or magical energy, whichever fits the correct definition) in order to create or destroy. One could even call it the root of human magic, but no one truly knows, for no one has been able to ascertain just how old the Art truly is. It should be noted that the majority of Anriohm, translated as 'recalculators', are on a constant search for what is simply referred to as 'The Origin'. Each of them wishes to discover where their Art originated from, who created it, why it works.
Hehe, oh you bet it is!
Mayonaka, Seisui - The Tranquil Lotus

Nazo's demeanor and movement's changed, but they'd only have the chance to do so minutely for Nazo had only managed to evade the first half of his slash, the blade had still traveled across his body, though it did not dig into it, with the exception of the samurai's hand and arm. This meant that as Nazo turned his body counterclockwise and away, that Seisui's muscles reacted at high speed, charged with chakra, to push his blade right from a slash to a piercing thrust that moved barely slower than Nazo's own movements. Had the man not moved away in the manner that he had, he would have found Seisui's blade behind him, with his own weapon in contact with Seisui's chakratic sheath. A terrifying situation, but unfortunately for Nazo, it was not what came to past. Instead, Nazo began his retreat, and as Seisui noted the counterclockwise evasion and preparation to dash away, he erupted forwards, sparing no time for caution, the chakratic sheath of his blade disipating only after the Tranquil Lotus was two steps (three feet) from the location he had been in prior. This meant that as Nazo began his dash, Seisui follwed him, but he had began his movements before Nazo so as to allow the man's own speed to be his downfall.

When he made his second step to cease his movement, Seisui did it with the tips of his right toes angled diagonally away from his body so that the flat of its right side faced backwards and away from him. This allowed him to push his body backwards, altering its momentum, as he drove his blade past his left side and backwards towards Nazo's approaching body as he dashed towards him, seeking to impale him. The calm air of serenity and death was about the man throughout these actions as he emulated what he intended to bestow upon his opponent, the man who had challenged him to this duel. It was only fitting that he held back none of his swift skill and execution, and let his style's power be unbridled before the man.

It was a matter of life and death, but regardless of the victor, Seisui would remain serene and composed till the end, be it of his own life, or the conflict at hand.
I'd love to be a returning player :)

Hopefully I'll have the time :P
Mayonaka, Seisui - The Tranquil Lotus

5 meters, the Yagami was ready; 4 meters, Nazo's body tensed and eyes focused; 3 meters, the man's muscles and blade began to move; 2.5 meters, Seisui's dash was interrupted by a shift in movement. Whilst he had run the tip of his blade had been aimed forwards from with hands near his right hip. However, the blade was at an angle so as to be pointing at Nazo's left side (from Seisui's perspective). This was the same side that Nazo's sheath was located and thus the starting location for any attack that the samurai would begin in reaction to Seisui's rush, which had been utilized for two reasons.

First, Seisui had utilized a rush to quickly close distance and to obscure his actual choice of attack.

Second, he had employed the movement as a strategy to instigate Nazo to attack him, rather than Seisui make the true first move, which might open him up for a counter on Nazo's end.

Thus the dash had served its purpose so as Nazo's first slash began, Seisui's heel pushed forwards and made it look as if he were going to slide to a stop. However, rather than his knee be straight to create more stopping power, he kept it ever so slightly bent. This was totally imperceptible to Nazo due to the clothing that covered Seisui's body. As such Nazo's attacks were more likely to continue as the man had likely planned for them two. At this point already three more slashes had been utilized in differing directions, none of which were relevant to him. An omnidirectional attack...with a blade, utilizing chakra, Seisui's brain thought faster even than Nazo's attacks even as it continued to analyze the movement. Effective against multiple opponents, ineffective against a single individual, he surmised even as the first chakra blade neared him. His knee bent and he stepped forwards propelling his blade in a forwards and slightly upwards thrust, hitting the very center of the slightly arced chakratic blade. The reaction to the precise action, which was followed by a lightning fast, but tiny, downward cut with the blade's tip, resulted in Seisui totally disrupting the flow of chakra in the attack.

In short, the blade of chakra dispersed and as Nazo would begin realizing his error, Seisui's movement continued with smoothness, no slower than his dash, but far more measured and dangerous as he initiated another technique with a tiny flux of chakra. Menimienai jokyo(目に見えない除去 'Unseen removal') thus applying a thin layer of chakra just over the surface of the apparently cylindrical chakra construct that overlaid Chinmoku's surface. This would act as a sheath as Seisui's slight upwards slash --created by the mere flick of his wrist-- would move the blade across his body from his right side to his left. At no point did he stop moving to allow any leeway and thus as his blade moved, so did his body, before the now chakraticly sheathed blade made contact with Nazo's own as he attempted a slash as he had been doing prior.

The blade's momentum would cease entirely as it met with Seisui's being culled by the precision of its master's movements even as it flashed forwards and across in the second technique of the chain.

It would be as if Seisui had preformed an iaido technique, but entirely without a sheath as he executed Menimienai shunji(目に見えない瞬时 'Unseen flash') to slash downwards across Nazo's sword arm, chest, and just above the hip. Movements from there would vary depending on the man's reaction
On an unfortunate note. I have some...serious developements in my life atm and I may disappear for awhile. Just prior notice.
Reitemu, Shijima - Tsuchi no hokkyokusei

With the arrival of the Empress and the subsequent sealing of the Shukaku, Shijima withdrew what chakra he could from his technique and headed back for their base of operations, no longer holding any interest in the events at hand. He had played his part and if he were needed he was sure the Empress, or one of the many who served her, would contact him. Beyond that he thought it would be peaceful enough to meditate, or simply rest, upon the wall. However as he neared this location, traveling in his usual method, he found it occupied by a beast and Remi. One of the two bothered him however, the presence of both likely meant social interactions, and rather bothersome ones at that. Nonetheless he made his way up the wall, utilizing a growing pillar of earth to elevate him properly till he simply stepped off of it and onto the top of the wall, distancing himself from Yakoul and then promptly sitting down and closing his eyes. If the creature bothered him he might consider casting it from the top of the wall, it might be ever so slightly enjoyable to toss the rabid monster from its perch.

Tetsujin, Iyana

Mildly impressed by the Empresses' power, Iyana still scoffed and headed away from the battlefield, noticing everyone else dispersing as well. It seemed the situation had been taken care of. Boring she thought, almost completely disregarding the fact that she'd been internally terrified when faced with the Shukaku. Now that the combat was over she found herself quite bored even as she flew back to the base. Sighing to herself she smiled a bit, feeling proud of herself for the damage she had done to the Shukaku, even if it was fairly pointless at the end of the day.

Eventually flying over the wall, Iyana noted Remi and the Empresses' little pet, Yakoul, before she headed to her own secluded little training grounds, one she had gradually made herself. In this case she would try working out a way to streamline the use of the technique she'd used against the one tails. That would be a worthwhile ability, and quite the secret weapon against most adversaries.
