Current Attn teeny boppers: You realize adbots aren't ppl, yes? They randomly generate login info, then execute pre-programmed posts. Your rage-spam goes unheard by the machine. And is equally annoying.

If you're going by UK conventions of knighthood/nobility, yes. It also would be pronounced like the "dam" in "madame," rather than like a Dick Tracy "daym."

For Martial Classes, the Magic stat doesn't figure into battle related things, but consider it your "knowledge" of magic, as in how much your character knows about how it works and stuff like that, which might help you form a strategy against it. It will figure in more once we've gotten some enchanted loot, because special types of items will have effects that draw from the Magic stat. Other things might use it too, such as perhaps needing a certain knowledge of magic and a certain resistance to it in order to see through a magical illusion in a dungeon.
@Duthguy: The Summoner's Fusion ability is a Freebie, yes, although at Level 1 you can only incorporate a single part of the creature, for instance turning one arm into a claw or growing a tail. This is how Summoners will fight directly if they're forced to. Rather than having an MP cost, however, it can only be performed once per day. By leveling it up, you can use one more part of the creature, and every 3 levels you'll be able to use it one more time per day. When you've gained enough levels to manifest all parts of that particular creature you can become it fully, and for every level after that, instead of adding parts the abilities that form grants you will get more powerful. My apologies, I didn't think all that through at first. I'll make sure to add it to the document. @NoBrain: Looks good, except one of the techniques is a level too high. At the beginning, you have 3 skill/spell levels to distribute, and both of yours are at 2. As a general but not ironclad rule when making Spells and Skills, when adding increases to power (Flash Blade adds 5 attack, for example) for level one anywhere within the 5-10 range will usually be okay depending on the person's base stats. Going up another 5-10 with each level is fine. If your skill has two effects, though, either both of them need to be towards the lower end of the scale, say, 2-5, or one needs to be about half the value of the other, for example increasing evasion by 5 and speed by 2. I will also add this into the document. Haha, now that I'm looking into it more, there are some things that could definitely be fleshed out in the document. I'll work on that here in a bit.
@Strawberries: Thank you! Welcome to the RP! @NoBrain: So far so good, pre-emptive approval! A few formatting changes could be made, though it's not a big deal and can be done at your convenience. MP is magic/mana points, like in most games, with the idea being that even though they don't use magic, the equipment that Martial Classes are exposed to causes the energy to seep into their bodies and let them use "lesser magic" of a sort for their Skills. The "chi" thing for Strikers isn't like DBZ or Naruto, but simply a reflection of that magic energy within them. The main topic is up now, along with a character form and my own character to help as an example. Here's the link: [AcadeMMO: First Semester](http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/75526/posts/ic)
Sorry about that Duthguy, I forgot to copy/paste the summaries from the interest check. Yes, they're also in the google doc, thanks NoBrain. The character sheet and my own character are up, so hopefully that will help. Classes: The Knight is a Martial Class that focuses on the use of close range weapons like swords, spears, polearms, etc. They're known for having strong direct attack power. The Adept is a Magic Class that uses basic elemental magic; Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Ice, Lightning, Light, Dark, Gravity, Void, Metal, Wood, so on and so forth. They specialize in magic with wide areas of effect and good offensive abilities, but their casting can be complex and leave them vulnerable. The Shade is a Martial Class meant for espionage, sneak attacks, scouting, etc. They're faster than knights but not as strong. The Binder is a Magic Class that uses seals, barriers, and other defensive magics to pin down an enemy or block attacks on allies. In one on one fights they can use a little offensive power by creatively using their restraints, but otherwise they're more suited to support. The Sniper uses ranged weapons like guns and bows, and takes careful aim at an enemy from range before firing. Like magic users they're weaker in close range and their attacks often take time to charge, but they have much longer range than most magic users and if their shot hits, it does a lot of damage at once. The Cleric uses a combination of healing magic and enhancement/buffing magic on their allies, while using weakening/debuffing magic on enemies. They're the only class with zero offensive ability in most cases, but without them the casualties would be through the roof. Strikers are a Martial Class that uses their own body as a weapon, with things like martial arts and grappling. They share a few qualities with both Knights and Shades, and sometimes have self-healing abilities, but they're not as powerful in any one category. Summoners are a Magic Class that, rather than casting spells themselves, form contracts with monsters and summon them to fight in their place. Different monsters have different abilities, but summoning tends to have a higher energy cost than other magics. Spells are exactly that, magical spells used by Magic Classes. You can create your own spells, but try to follow the format of whatever class you choose (for instance, Binders don't have healing abilities.) When describing a spell, it's a good idea to include its element, range, what it's designed to do, things like that. Skills are similar to spells, but used by Martial Classes. Over time, magic has seeped into their bodies from their equipment, and while they can't cast spells, it's made them strong enough to use these special techniques. These are often self-buffs that increase strength or speed, special weapon techniques unique to their fighting style, adding a special status or element to their weapon, so on and so forth. Again, there is more detail, along with a Character Sheet, in the Google Document. I will also post the Character Sheet form in the character tab of the main topic.
Name: Hayato Nishimura Age: 15 Gender: Male Themesong: [One OK Rock - Dreamer](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVOo8w-lTUE) Class: Bladeknight Appearance:
History: Born and raised in Japan, Hayato's father was part of the SDF, and was involved in a widespread monster attack when a number of rifts opened in Japan 13 years ago. He was killed in this attack, leaving Hayato's elder brother to take care of him and their mother. His brother, swearing revenge, went to AcadeMMO and became a Knight. He even became an S rank, and Hayato couldn't wait to join his brother. Then, however, they received grim news. On an expedition to Excaledvol, his brother had disappeared, and was presumed killed in action. Hayato refused to accept this, and studied hard to pass the entrance exam and join AcadeMMO, determined to find his brother and get revenge for his father by defeating all the monsters and closing the rifts once and for all! However, after joining, he found himself particularly outclassed by most of the other students, and despite trying his best and often training by himself, for his entire first year he never rose past E rank. Lately he has become discouraged, as it seems he'll never accomplish his goals... Statistics: - Level - 2 - HP - 100 - MP - 30 - Attack - 25 - Magic - 5 - Speed - 17 - Accuracy - 10 - Defense - 17 - Evasion - 12 - Resistance - 8 Spells/Skills: Flash Blade [1]- The command for this Skill is its name. A basic technique known and used by many Knights, it simply concentrates power into the weapon, producing a colored flash of energy around the contact point for a single attack. When used, this Skill adds 5 Attack to a single strike. At higher levels, the amount added will increase. Consumes 10 MP. Blade Trail [1] - The command for this Skill is its name. A basic technique known and used by many Knights, it concentrates power into the legs and the weapon for a burst of speed. The weapon flashes with colored energy as the user attacks, then continues their dash past the opponent. Excellent for maneuvering around slow enemies, but requires a lot of room to run in. When used, this Skill add 5 speed and 2 Attack to a single strike. At higher levels, the amount added will increase. Consumes 10 MP. Zero Point Sword [1] - The command for this skill is its name. A personal skill belonging to Hayato's family back in Japan, as they had a history as kendo practitioners. When the blade of his sword is making contact with an enemy, Hayato can use their own motion against them. It's very difficult to perform correctly, however. When used, this Skill adds 5 Accuracy to a single strike. At higher levels, the amount added will increase. Consumes 10 MP. Inventory:

### Character Sheet: Please **Bold** the categories, such as Name and History, and keep the sheet in a vertical format, like it's presented below. I'll also be posting my character soon to show an example. **Name:** **Age:** (minimum of 14, maximum of 18. If you really want an age outside that range, PM me and we will discuss it.) **Gender:** **Themesong:** (Not required, but fun) **Class:** (If your general class has a subcategory, it’d be preferred. Ex., Bladeknight, Gunsniper.) **Appearance:** (Image or text is acceptable.) **History:** (What was your character’s life like before they came to the academy? How did their life change? What are some key events we should know? Keeping things secret for a bit is fine, but if it’s something that’s probably important, maybe PM me?) **Statistics:** Everyone gets 100 points to spend as they wish at the start. When you level up, you won’t get quite so many, though, so don’t just dump everything into a few stats. - Level - Everyone starts at 1. - HP - (Points put here should be multiplied by 10) - MP - (Points put here should be multiplied by 10) - Attack - - Magic - - Speed - - Accuracy - - Defense - - Evasion - - Resistance - **Spells/Skills:** (You have 3 levels to use on these at the beginning. They will grow more powerful with each level added. For example, Level 1 Fireball is just a basic fireball. Level 2 Fireball might be twice as powerful, or might launch two fireballs at once. The Level of the Spell/Skill x10 is how much MP it will consume every time you use it.) Spell/Skill Name [Level]- Description of Ability. Good things to include here are range, any element used, area of effect, etc. Also include the Command, which must be shouted to activate it. This can range from just the name, to a multi-line incantation.
**Complete Information can be found** [Here.](https://docs.google.com/document/d/16N68JyD_ZMHDT4Th3JfnsQ1njsZ5vt5FMLLwbipB2B8/edit?usp=sharing) **Basic Summary of the RP, as seen in the Interest Check:** AcadeMMO (aca-dem-mo), which stands for the Academy of Magic, Martial, and Other arts, is an RP that takes place in the near future of our Earth. However, a failed experiment has caused significant change. Rifts to an alternate world called Excaledvol have been opened, and fantasy monsters thought to be myth have begun to cross over. Normal weapons and regular human strength are useless against them, but Excaledvol also provided Humanity a new weapon: Magic. Magic energy poured through the rifts and saturated Earth's atmosphere, and 10% of the new generations of humans have developed natural magic abilities. The Academy was founded to train these individuals, as well as to train those who would support and protect them. Casting spells in this RP will often take time and a great deal of energy, leaving the caster vulnerable, so in order to defend them from monsters while they use their powers other warriors use specially developed weapons and abilities. Thus the academy divides its students into two major categories, Magic and Martial, which are further divided into Classes, similar to many RPG games. Once players choose their class, they won't have many opportunities to change it. Players do have some freedom with what kind of Spells or Skills they create and use, but their Class determines what kinds of things I would like them to base their abilities on. However, I think I've got enough Classes planned out that there is something for everyone. Another aspect of this RP will be a simplified stat system. You don't have to roll dice or do any math, but the stats are meant to help with comparisons between players and enemies so that competition and other fights are more fair and go along more smoothly and quickly. For example, even if you can think of a way to dodge everything your opponent throws at you, it wouldn't be really fair if your Evasion skill was a lot lower than theirs, would it? Don't worry, though, I don't plan on letting characters be killed. Plot will mostly consist of character interaction, training, and going on Special Assignments, which are like quests or missions given by the Academy. It ranges from gathering materials to make weapons and equipment, to exploring dangerous areas of Excaledvol, to defeating monsters. Players will compete with each other and cooperate in parties depending on the mission, and through that they'll grow stronger. **Welcome to the OOC thread, everyone! Feel free to discuss things here, and I'll have other stuff up soon!**
Today was the anniversary of the end of the world as mankind knew it. Thirty-one years ago, a scientific experiment intended to further humanity's understanding of space and time instead brought forth a whole new world of unknown dangers, as space and time began to stretch and eventually tear itself apart. Through these tears came the Exbeasts, and the strange energy called Magic, and humans found themselves embroiled in a war not only for their own survival, but for that of every creature on their world as these new predators spread to every corner of the globe. Yet today was also the birth of a new generation of hope. For today, the opening ceremony of the Academy of Magic, Martial, and Other arts would mark the beginning of a new semester training the Magi, those individuals affected by Magic and made into natural catalysts for its power, and the Martial Classes, those warriors who chose to wield magically crafted arms and protect their fellows. With these two working in tandem, humanity would finally see a chance to reclaim their world from the inhabitants of another. So went the Dean's speech before the assembled students, as he continued to inform them of all the great things the previous generations of AcadeMMO students had accomplished, when the institution was founded roughly sixteen years ago. "...and so we realize that we place a great burden upon young shoulders," he said as he reached his closure. "But know that we would not do so if we were not confident in the results! Those of you who were blessed with the talents of Magic! Those of you who have pushed yourselves to the limit to become strong and courageous, who dare to fight Exbeasts one on one and come out victorious! Your training begins anew today, and we have faith that every one of you will put forth your effort! Let us all do our part, to ensure a bright future for all!" The assembly clapped, around half and half real enthusiasm and polite respect. There were even a few scattered cheers and shouts. Though not everyone took it as seriously as the Dean, each of them, somewhere in their hearts, knew that at least part of what he said was true. A great burden had been placed on them. After the opening ceremony, many of the incoming students were led around by the different group representatives and school council members to familiarize themselves with the layout of the school and the classrooms. Beyond this, however, the rest of the "first day" was intended to help returning students move their things back into dorms and getting new students situated, and to reunite friends who had not seen each other over break. The real classes--and Special Assignments--would start tomorrow. --- "You wanted to speak to me, sir?" English felt strange in Hayato's mouth after spending the break back home. AcadeMMO was an international organization, but given that the big financial backers were primarily from the western powers and it was already sort of an international language, all students had to be able to read and speak English at a conversational level. "Good morning, Mr. Nishimura." Professor Gene had been his homeroom teacher last year, and this year Hayato was in his Intermediate Swordplay class, as were most of the second year Knights. "I'm sure you remember our discussion at the end of last year?" He adjusted the black tie around the collar of his white dress shirt, his piercing blue eyes looking right at Hayato with a focus like the tip of a rapier. "Yes sir. I did a lot of studying over break." Hayato looked at his forehead instead of his eyes, knowing he couldn't meet the man's gaze. "I promise, this year I'll pass the general education sections with flying colors." "I should hope so. It's no good to scrape by academics by the skin of your teeth even if you are trying to focus on your training." The teacher leaned back in his chair and brushed one wayward spike of his blonde, unusually stylish hair (some students often remarked he looked like he'd stepped out of a JRPG) out of the way. "Hayato, the real reason you haven't been rising in rank isn't because you're not strong. It's because you chose to focus on training yourself, only taking a few easy Special Assignments when you needed to, and neglected your other studies. I know that, right now, your end goal is not to save the world." Hayato clenched a fist and looked down at the floor, remembering his brother. "But you can't just wait until an opportunity presents itself. You have to be the one to step out there. Training in preparation for "the day I save my brother" is useless if you never poke your head out of the dojo to see what day it is. This year, in addition to your academics, I want you to focus on getting experience in the field." "Yes sir." "You have the potential to do very well. You just need guidance." The man stood and walked over to the boy, clapping him good naturedly on the shoulder. "And that's what I and the other professors and teachers here are for. Come to us whenever you need anything." "Yes sir." Gene sighed and shook his head. "Alright then, as long as we're clear. Go on, then, make sure you're ready for all your classes tomorrow." Hayato left the room with a bow, still never meeting the teacher's gaze. Once he was back in the hall, he strode quickly past other students and classrooms, intent on heading towards the dorm. He had no classes or missions available today--he could start on his promise tomorrow. For now... "I'm still not strong enough..." he whispered to himself.
Thank you! There's more information in the Casual Thread, and that's the section the RP will be in, so if you're interested check that out!
@BlueAngel: I don't think the idea's stupid at all, don't feel discouraged! If you'd still like to use that character idea, we could bounce ideas around and I'm sure we could come up with something. @Water Akira: Thanks, I was a bit worried the CS might seem too long or complicated. I look forward to seeing your character! I'll wait a little longer to give people a chance to ask any questions, then start the RP topic.
