ZEV

The only thing the mage could do is just chuckle in amusement from the newbie's reaction of being invited to join. It looked like Ezekiel thought it was too early to partake in important guild events, but he was wrong. It was important for all members, veteran and new, to participate in such a big event. "Of course everyone is going to the ball. While we did not directly participate in the game, we were supporting our fighters all the way through and that is just important. And I'll get you a suit. Consider it a welcoming gift on the behalf of Dragon Fang." Zev gave Ezekiel a smirk, seeing the worries that he had were completely irrelevant.

"Trust me, you're the least likely to embarrass yourself in front of the king and queen. Compared to us, the rest of the mages here are real odd balls and that includes our guild members. The only thing you should worry about is just what kind of suit you want and which pretty lady catches your eye. He looked at figure that was simply just a mass of cats and judging by the suddent look of unease in his eyes. "Actually, there is one thing you should watch out for. If an omnisexual catman named Prince approaches you, just keep calm and don't get freaked out if he hits on you. He's a member of Dragon Fang"

@t2wave
NOLAN

The warmth from Ariel's body pressed against his side, causing him to smile softly at her. He wrapped his arm around her waist and It was these moments of tenderness that Nolan relaxed and felt the tension from his body melt away. "It's all done. After this ball we can all just go home." He said it as if they were going back to their normal lives, but Nolan knew that his life was going to be anything, but normal. After this long week in Crocus, he realized that he needed to become stronger, stronger than he ever thought he could become. With the pact of the goddess, he was going to begin his training when he gets back.

A surge of pain tore through his body and he began to violently cough, his chest felt like it was being constricted. Nolan took a deep breath of air and steadied himself. His body was still feeling the after effects of the God Force being forcibly awoken after his class with Frye yesterday.

Jake Ronan|Streets of Crocus

Jake smiled and nodded. "Suppose that's all a fair point. Then I'll pick you up before the ball then?"

James Hunt|Streets of Crocus

James kept his blade even with the young woman and answered Cody evenly. "I was at the stadium during the end of the games. When they ended, I attempted to catch you and see if you wanted to resume training today or take it off in preparation for the ball. Unfortunately, until recently the flow of people kept me from catch up to you. And here we are." He then turned his hard gaze on the girl at hand.

"As for you, keep your honeyed words to yourself. The magic I wield can practically smell the darkness inside you. State your true business or leave. I will not have you huring Cody further than he has already experienced if you are to be believed."

Jamie gave a soft laugh. "Its never nothing, Sweetie" She said, giving Amelia a smile, She left it at that for now, annd glancing about, before looking back to Amelia, she said "Crowds are never easy, yet the thing is we need to face our fears, or they will overwhelm us. You are a bright, strong young woman, sweetie. If you're worried about not having a dress, why, we can go buy one now. You don't need to go to the ball for long, but you were in the games. You need to make an appearance, if only a small one. We'll be there"@Joshua Tamashii

"Despite saying that your style is not incredibly showy, I think the cloths you just described are considered 'showy'." Joshua said with a laugh, only to blush a bit as she wrapped her arm around his. He still gave her a smile. "If you want to walk around, fine by me. Maybe we'll find something you like better. Only way to find out is to go out and look, right?"

With that, he lead the way out into the streets, before letting Amaya dictate the way they would wonder around.

Pyrrha Arvanitas

@Zarkun

"If you want to pick me up, that's fine. I have plenty of people to escort me there otherwise." Pyrrha said with a smile. She turned to began to leave the alley before stopping and turning back towards Jake. "I never said thank you for the date the other day. So thank you. It was fun. Maybe we can do something similar again some time?"

Amelia Averyonna

@Caits

Amelia managed a small smile at her mother's words, though she couldn't help but doubt the description of her. She wasn't very bright as far as she could tell and she was far from strong. Sure, her magic and spirits were, but she barely had any fighting ability of her own. But, now wasn't the time for that and she pushed such thoughts from her head before they could take over.
"I don't want to stand out more then I already do, so I think a dress will be appropriate." She said, standing up. "Will it just be you and me shopping, or will we be getting Sammy a dress too?"

Ezekiel

”Well . . . if you say so. . .” Ezekiel wasn’t completely convinced, but there was little point in arguing about it. He barely even met the guild master, and knew nothing about the rest, so for all he knew the rest were a bunch of raving lunatics. [b][i]I hope not, though, as that would be very unpleasant. As he continued on, talking about suits, ties and . . . omnisexual catmen(?), Ezekiel took a second to remove a cat from his face, taking a moment to spit out some cat hair that had gotten in his mouth bas he spoke. ”You’ll have to help me a bit in that regard, Mr. . . uh, i don’t think I ever got your name, sir. Anyway, I’m kinda. . . blind, yet not blind because of my magic. Like, I can recognize magic, and people, buildings, and other things, but i can’t pick out physical details. I can pick out a person within a crowd of millions, but couldn’t begin to tell you what they looked like or what they’re wearing even if they were right in front of me. I also can’t read unless it’s in Braile, as looking at words and letters only tells me what it’s made off, not what it is.”
@hatakekuro

Nidhogg

”I’m not expecting anything, to be honest. Sometimes, you just have to go with the flow, Jasmine. See what happens.” Jacqueline hopped and skipped into the dingy alleyway, turning around as if she was going to say more when suddenly, two shadows appeared on either side of the two girl’s, light flashing as two blades came up to their necks.

“Gives us whatever you’ve got in your pockets, girlies, or el-.” One of the shadows, a raggedy looking man, was stopped mid-sentence as Jacqueline elbowed him in the gut hard enough to knock the breath out of him, followed by grabbing the knife blade with her teeth and breaking it with a twist of her head, turning around as he tried to back away, she stabbed the broken blade into his shoulder, causing the man to cry out in shock and agony. As the man attemped to get away, Jacqueline quickly dashed forward to lick at his leg, a sickening crack filling the alley way as his leg bent inwards at the knee. The man’s cry of pain was silenced before it could begin by another strike to his throat, faster than they eye could see. He fell to the ground in a heap, grasping at his throat as he struggled to breathe.

The other figure, a woman, blinked in shock at how quickly and brutally her partner was taken out, teeth clenched in fear and anger as she brought the knife closer to Jasmine’s throat.
“D-don’t come any closer, you monster, or else!”

Jacqueline barely seemed bothered, giving a small frown as she considered the current situation. Wiping a speck of blood from her chin, she closed her eyes, arms crossed as she thought of the most interesting way to handle the current issue. If she was by herself, then these two would be lunch already, but that would scare Jasmine something awful, and then he’d be left bored when she went off screaming or something. In the end, she decided to leave it in Jasmine’s hands what became of them, see if anything interesting came of it.

[b]”Hey Jasmine . . . Should I kill these two, or let them live?”

Argus Leandros

As Marlene arrived questioning who had summoned her, Argus cleared his throat, looking off to the side as he now felt kinda awkward and under pressure. ”Uh, sup. I came to apologize for the prank I pulled on you and how my, er, previous attempt at apologizing turned out. So, uhhhhh. . . “ Argus trailed off, wondering what he should do now. Gift bag seemed. . . inappropriate now. ” . . .Okay, I’m not really good at apologies, so is saying sorry enough for what I did? I’m not trying to be a smart aleck or anything, I just not certain what else I can do to show sincerity.”

As Marlene looks to her right, she almost stumbles down the last few steps as she finds that Argus was standing right there.

"Oh god..." she groans to herself silently, then she begins saying as kindly as she can muster, "Oh... it's you... What do you want now?"

The man seemed to be in an awkward position, perhaps by all the peer pressure around him, as he begins explaining himself.

Uh, sup. I came to apologize for the prank I pulled on you and how my, er, previous attempt at apologizing turned out. So, uhhhhh. . . . Okay, I’m not really good at apologies, so is saying sorry enough for what I did? I’m not trying to be a smart aleck or anything, I just not certain what else I can do to show sincerity."

Oh god... he sounds annoying even when he's apologizing. None of the less, Marlene should, and is actually, glad that he's apologizing. Then again, she didn't exactly do the best in her response to him with the fight and everything. Several blank blinkings later, the Crystal Maiden finally responds.

"Well..." she begins, "J-Just don't do it again ok? Or to anyone in that matter. And I'm sorry for retaliating at you so aggressively both times and probably almost unintentionally kicking you out of your guild... but... just don't do stuff like that alright? For your sake really... Is that cool with you?"

Ferrin Astra

Mors Vincent Omni

Finale
Part 1, Part 2

Ferrin ran through the slowly emptying city. He heard a voice broadcasted, advising everyone in the city to clear out, as the final match of the Grand Magic Games was now beginning.

The city itself would be the battleground.

He paid it no head, other then silently thanking whatever gods existed that with the city empty, he could sprint at full speed.

And sprint he did. He had developed a liking for running, and did so as a hobby of sorts. Plus, it would come in handy if some slobbering monstrosity from the pits of hell came calling or if Piston got mad at him again. With his long stride and lean frame, he could really cover ground. He fairly flew down the empty street, his coat flapping behind him. He focused on the buildings, trying to remember the way to where he had found the strange magic earlier, and keeping his magical senses attuned, despite the headache that was threatening to creep up.

When he came upon it, he was almost missed it. That unmistakable clear colorless magic. He skidded to a stop and retraced his steps until he standing right on top of it. "Here you are." He said, panting slightly, though more from adrenaline then exertion. He walked in a circle, looking for any obvious signs. He wanted to gogogo, and rush off screaming, but despite his intense sense of urgency, he forced himself to slow down and focus.

If he was wrong, he feared that he wouldn't have a second chance.

He paced out the magic signature's length, noting the slight curve. Frowning, he rifled through his pockets. "I know I have it somewhere...Ah-ha" He came out with a chunk of chalk. Bending over, he traced a line over the sensation of magic. He stood up, noting the direction and degree of the curve. He glanced at the sun, ignoring the final warning to clear the town for the games. He then peered down the street. He gauged angles and directions, before letting out a sound of disgust. "Can not see a dammed thing down here." He moved to a side of the street, and turned to a building. He gathered Aether magic to enhance his body, took a running start and let out a shout as he leapt about two stories into the air. However, without much room to run, he came up a bit short, and had to grab the edge of the roof with his Gauntlet to pull himself up. Once there, he found the magic again, faint now that that there was some distance between him and the ground, and again traced the sensation. He idly wondered what someone would think when they found these random markings. "Thus, do I strike a blow for vandalists everywhere." He muttered.

Standing back, Ferrin found that in addition to the slightly curved line that ran east to west, there was one running north to south. Like a spoke on a wheel. He drew in a breath, and slowly let it out again. "Hell's Bells, it is, as I feared, a magic circle." He breathed. He surveyed the city that sprawled out before him. "A really big magic circle."

You do not put something like this up for shits and giggles. This is a powerful magic and dangerous magic. There are very few beneficial things you could do with something like this--but a whole host of malefic things. He ruminated.

The circle beneath him suddenly began to hum, like a live wire. Ferrin's eyes widened. "The circle has been activated." He realized. Time was running out. Ferrin took of running again. From the shape of the circle he could follow the spoke he was on to the center, where the caster was.

And confront them.

He made good time as he ran, this time forsaking the streets to run and jump from building to building. Along the way, he put a few more piece of the puzzle he faced together. The timing of the circle's activation was perfect. While inactive, in a place as seeped in magic as Crocus, it would not draw much attention, except to the most sensitive of mages. Even then, they would not think of it as more than an oddity, the only reason he had uncovered the truth was because of the advice he had received from...well, nevermind. Ferrin cut off that train of thought. Once activated, it was much more noticeable, but with the final battle of the Grand Magic Games, the city would be empty, and few the wizards remaining in it would have more important things to worry about.

The circle brought him near the tall spire of rock, on which the Arena crowned. He stopped in its shadow and peered upwards. According to the old books he had read, the Grand Magic Games was once a very different event, called The Dragon King Festival. Details were scarce, but from what he could glean, coupled with prior knowledge, he knew that somewhere, deep below the earth, there lay a graveyard of dragons.

And now, among them, a necromancer of considerable power.

With a Magic Circle the size of a city centered on it.

"And here I was hoping for a nice vacation." Ferrin remarked, the irony thick in his words.

He had a problem though. He had no way down. Acutely aware that time was not in his side, he searched the area for an opening but no dark tunnels with a flashing neon sign, saying 'Something evil lurks here!' presented itself. With the simplest method ruled out, Ferrin had to get creative. He peeled off his glove, bent down, and laid his hand on the cold earth. He drew in his magic, and with a muttered spell, sent vibrations down through the rock, a trick taught to him by a rather irascible, and blind Sound wizard. Through the differences in frequency, speed, and pitch, one could tell the exact dimensions and make-up of any kind of matter, solid, liquid, even gas by memorizing the characteristics of the vibrations. Ferrin wasn't that good, but detecting tunnels in solid rock was child's play. He surprised to find a relatively shallow one, about five meters down.

"Now, how to get there..." He wondered aloud. He brieflyconsidered blasting a hole, but he immediately discarded the idea. [color=silver]Too noticeable and exhausting. He thought. What if I--Damn it, I do not have time for this! Angrily he pointed one claw-like metal finger at the earth. "Lapis, aperio!" He shouted. With the sound of stone grinding against stone, a section of the ground shook and shifted, flowing to each side like water. In moments, there was a dark hole in the earth, and a narrow shaft that lead to the tunnel. Ferrin sagged slightly at the effort it took to move that much stone. He heard a dull roar, and he turned in the direction of the noise. He saw a tower of stone in the distance that was not there before, a tower supported by the winds. His eyebrows went up as he considered the amount of power and focus that it would take to accomplish such a feat. But he had no time to admire someone else's handiwork. He turned to the hole in the earth. "Let the games begin." He said.

And he leapt and fell though the hole into pitch darkness.

Jamie smiled, satisfied. She nodded and rose smoothly, holding out her hand to Amelia. "Well now. A dress sounds wonderful, and we have just enough time to get you one" She looked over to Jarvis, with Sam. "If I let Sam pick out her dress, it will be something out of a fairy tale. Lets just go the two of us" She said brightly, "there was a small store here, a while ago, we can check that out"@Joshua Tamashii

Grane Falo | Crocus
@Lmpkio

Grane spent most of the day inside around the Council Headquarters as he tried to gather reports on Frye’s past actions while still trying to recover from his confrontation with the magic mercenary. The man is known to complete any given job that he deems worthy enough to spend his time on. That and the amount of jewels he would receive. Although there haven’t been any reports of him being part of any particular group, the idea of him being a mercenary for hire is more dangerous as anyone or group could try to hire him for any kind of questionable job. One being as to what brought him to Crocus and why no one seen or recognized a most wanted criminal until the day he left the city.

As Grane was shuffling through more reports on his table, his head jerked up as he heard his door slightly open.
"Oi matey," Dreadlin responds calmly, but also with slight nervousness, as he puts his head in through the crack, "It's yer mate Dreadlin. Sorry for de intrusion, but I heard you be takin' residence here from a couple o' birdies. Mind if oi hang out with ya' for a bit? Won' take too long."

Although Frye’s actions yesterday were on Grane’s mind, he decided to continue it later by talking to Sayatachi and the other Council Members. Turning away from the table, he rested a hand on his chest as he could still feel the pain that Frye inflicted on him. Sayatachi’s healing magic help speed the healing process, but the attack was simply a strong one that could not be easily ignored or forgotten. After a small gasp from the pain, Grane spoke as calmly as he could ”You may enter Dreadlin. We’re both of the same kind. A kind that I have not seen in a long time, so of course you may stay for time being. Please forgive me if I already asked you of this when we last met, but what brought you here from the village?”

"Thanks matey." the lizardman responds as he gets himself comfortable before replying to the next question, "I jus' came ere' to have a looksie' at the good ole' Magic Games ya know? Plus, I then remembered you be takin' residence here ya know? And how we met like yesterday or double ago. So I decided to come and visit ya."

He then inspects Grane, seeing that he seemed to look really tired, more in a painful way then just due to simple fatique.

"Ya seem a little clobbered Grane-mate." Dreadlin says with some worry, "Reckon' you've been through a lil' bit chipped ere and there. Got in a fight?"

”Some would say it was a fight. But from what I know about this man, he only wanted to leave. A wizard from a guild, another Council Member and I tried to detain an infamous wizard named Frye. He’s known to easily underestimate his opponents when he’s not on a job. Seeing as he was leaving, I believed it would be the perfect opportunity to capture him. Only to fail again as he escaped from our grasp.”

”Which re-”

Interrupted from a heavy knock on the door, Grane changed his attention and heard a rune knight introduced himself. Apparently having to send immediate news to the Council Member. Walking over to the door, Grane opened the door enough so the knight wouldn’t get distract and look at Dreadlin.

Once the knight finished relaying the news, Grane returned his attention back to Dreadlin. ”From what I just heard, the Magic Games was just cancelled by the King and Queen. I already instructed the knight to give me a report of the reason why this occurred. But it probably has to do with some country in Ishgar who was curious about Fiore’s Magic Games. Tell me Dreadlin. Now that the Magic Games is finished, what do you plan to do next?” From what Grane knew from Dreadlin lives, the villagers there usually stayed secluded in their area. So what Dreadlin would do next had Grane curious.

Ashlyn Johnson

@Lugubrious
The silence which now lingered between the two female mages quickly burnt through Ash's previous mentioned almost nonexistent patience. What was she going to say? How would she react?
Did Ash have to prepare to fight? Many a paranoid thought began to creep in with the doubt that grew in her mind with every passing second that Indigo stayed silent. Of course Ash was unaware that the sorceress was simply choosing her words carefully. Not that if she did know would she understand such a thought process anyway.
However that was when she noticed the older woman smile slightly. Ash might've questioned it if Indigo didn't start speaking soon after, so Ash instead seemed to be listening intently to every word which came out of the General's mouth. Much like a child waiting eagerly during christmas in fact. At first Ash was confused by what Indigo started saying.
She wasn't a soldier? Well Ash reasoned that she didn't look the part, but it still came as a bit of a shock since she was an intergral part of Frenzy Plant. Ash had assumed that she would naturally be a soldier then....huh. Talk about 'assumptions make an ass out of you and me' huh?
Though not quite as shocking as the realisation of what Indigo said next. Ash hadn't really thought too much about such a thing. She had assumed that since they were a light guild, it meant they were above killing people. But she hadn't even remotely thought about the fact they were also a guild of soldiers. As Indigo said soldiers killed during times of war.
Not too dissimilar to that of Ash's own time at Shadow Heart except for one glaring reason. As Indigo soon stated.
Ideals. Indigo fought to upheld justice, freedom, her guild and perhaps even her own self-preservation in a kill or be killed environment which was the battlefield. Ash had killed for hatred, monetary gain, to simply cause pain and grief. To gain power even.
She wasn't sure who would've killed more people, her or Indigo, however perhaps a more accurate comparison might be that of how many innocent people they had killed or purposely hurt for their own selfish reasons.
Ash had burnt people alive in their homes with their families for simple entertainment once or twice. To take out the pain and grief she felt on the rest of the world, lashing out like an immature brat having a tantrum.
If it hadn't been for him...she might still have been immersed in the darkness. Drowning in it with no way to escape.
At the end of Indigo's little spiel Ash straightened up with her fists clenched tightly by her sides. Her trembling was gone now, instead her crimson eyes burned with determination.
"Turned my back? I wouldn't say that. That's not my style." Ash bought her right fist up slightly as she spoke. A small smirk begining to form as Indigo's words filled refilled her confidence.
"No. I am going to take the darkness head on. My flames will be the light to vanquish the darkness which those scumbags shroud themselves in and reveal them for who they truly are. Turning my back would simply give them an opportunity to stab me when I'm not looking...which I'm sure they'll gladly take."

Jasmine Lockwood

@Raijinslayer
Jasmine took a moment to realize whatever the hell it was she had just witnessed. One moment she and Jacqueline were walking down the alleyway talking then the next moment Jasmine could feel the coldness of a steel blade being pressed against her throat. Not only that but Jacqueline absolutely, positively and quite sickeningly bashed the crap out of one of their unknown assailants.
There wasn't much she could do but blink in disbelief. Too shocked to even care or notice the blade being pressed up against her throat. It was only when Jacqueline spoke to her that she snapped back to reality. Wait. What?
Kill them? What was he-sorry, she going on about?
"I-I'm sure we can settle our differences...right? L-let's all just calm down ok?" Jasmine's eyes darted from the blade, to Jacqueline, to her assailant before returning back to the blade as she spoke. She was panicking so badly right now that her only possible reaction was to be calm. Well as calm as she could be.
It was such a strange feeling indeed.
"T-there's no need for anyone to die right?"

Cody Bloodstein

@Cherrywitch@Zarkun
Cody wasn't too sure what to think of this situation right now. He was too conflicted with whatever these emotions which were running through him right now to focus too much on the scenario unfolding before him right now.
All he knew was that James was apparently at the stadium and had gone looking for him to do a training session? Well Cody could do with something to take his mind off matters since the games weren't on anymore. He didn't plan on going to the ball anyway....
The woman was bloody convincing. The smile which she gave him felt very genuine and heart-warming, but James steadying presence and words kept Cody from falling into the trap. Barely.
"I-I told you already. I'm not in pain!" Despite what Cody said now he was still clutching his shirt around his heart. Almost as if in pain.
"And I don't need yours or anyones help in curing something which doesn't exist."

Angela Terra

@Oblivion666
A wide grin spread across her face as Indigo started walking. It seemed like she found it to a bucketload of fun to dangle from his neck. Either that or the idea of cookies was quite an enjoyable one for her. Probably both knowing the young witch.
Like Indigo she ignored the looks they were given as she nodded excitedly.
"Finding the guards should be easy enough...surely there's one nearby?" Angela asked in her usual innoncent but still mischievous tone.
"Of course I can hit their butts! I've been practising my shots over long distances!" The girl beamed proudly as she nodded her approval of Indigo's plan. She didn't specify however if she had been training to hit butts over a long distance or simply shooting pumpkins over a long distance. Both were the same to her anyway.

Akai "Little Red"

Location: Crocus, in town
Interactions: Cody @lunarlors34 James @zarkun

It took all of Akai's strength not to snarl with pure annoyance at the man for swaying her target. Magic that can sense evil? Must be some holy element or justice. Uch, how boring and bland. Why must balance always have to ruin chaos' fun?

A pout drew at the girl's lips, but as to why was something that she could hide well, unless this urchin had the trick of telepathy up his sleeve. He must be from one of those light guilds, and picking a fight with one member often picked one with the entire hall in those cases. So dependent and needy on each other, it made Akai sick. Don't they know that relationships are futile and the only one you can trust is yourself? Ah, it was worthless anyhow. Akai was no fool, and knew when it was time to take her leave.

The green eyes raised to James with a gaze akin to an innocent doe, she quietly pulling her hood up over her head. He had no proof of her being evil besides a gut feeling, really, but if he saw the guild mark on her neck that would have caused more annoying trouble than the brunette could put up with. "I shall leave. I do not want to cause a stir." She paused to flash another small smile back at Cody. "If you truly believe you are fine, so be it. If you realize not later... Simply call out the color of my hood, and I will appear to help you. Goodbye, gentlemen." The red hood flowed behind her, almost unnaturally, as she walked towards the end of the alley with smooth steps and a calmness to her every movement.

Ariel
@hatakekuro
For a few moments Ariel has smiling and comfortable being close to Nolan. The reassurance was broken however when he started coughing. Holding him up she was obviously concerned. "Nolan! What's wrong?" She wasn't sure where this was coming from, if it was the fight, use of his magic, or something else. Naturally she wanted to help, and the Phoenix magic only proved to amplify that feeling. Keeping Nolan on his feet she leaned close and began to sing softly. It was a Phoenix Song, the true title she didn't know but it's purpose was clear.

The soothing sounds carried with it magic to rejuvenate Nolan. While it wouldn't entirely heal him, it wasn't God magic ater all, it would at least help in the short term. Perhaps if Ariel was better acquainted with what she was capable of she could do more. Either way she continued until Nolan stopped coughing and seemed to stabilize. And while it didn't seem like much the use of a song used up enough of the Phoenix magic that her other emotions could pull her out of it. And just as with the last time Nolan was ill she changed back to her Green magic. Stepping back she smiled softly and held his face in her hands. "There, feeling better? Do you need anything else?"

"Hmm, I guess that depends on the person holding you." Jacqueline rolled her shoulders a little, taking a single step forward towards the two. "I wonder if she really has the guts to take a life, given how much she's shaking right now." Another step was taken, causing the thief to flinch slightly before pushing the knife closer to Jasmine's neck, her shaky hand accidentally nicking the girl.

"S-Stay back. I'll open her up right now, you here me!"

Jacqueline only smiled, taking yet another step as she stared the woman down with her deep crimson eyes. "I hear you just fine, and that's exactly why I know you won't do it. But let make things easy. You let her go before I reach you, and you can take your friend and go on free." Another step "However, if you continue to put on this act, I'll have to take drastic action against the both of you. Simply put, what do you trust more: My promise in not killing you, or your ability to handle me. Please hurry, I'm just two steps away now." Another step was taken, and the air began to weigh down on everyone in the alley as Jacqueline's magical energy began to push down on them.

The thief's grip tightened around her knife, weighing the odds as she looked this terrifying monster in the eyes. She would find no compassion, no mercy, nothing but a cold emptiness that seemed ready to swallow her whole. As JAcqueline prepared to take one more step, the thief, pushed Jasmine into the necromancer's small frame, before quickly moving to pick up her colleague and flee the scene. Jacqueline watched them go, her expression blank and unreadable before she turned to look at Jasmine with a smile.

"Well, that was pretty exciting, don't you think? Not everyday you get to talk down some muggers like that, right? Well, I did most of the talking, so maybe next time you should try to save me. . . or do you not have any magic?" The smile turned into a frown as Jacqueline realized that possibility, though the smile returned soon after as she placed an arm around Jasmine's shoulders and started walking her out the alley. "We should probably fix that, if that's the case. World can be a dangerous place to those without magic. Now, I could teach you my magic, or we could go for a temporary solution of getting you a magic item. A wand seems fitting, but who knows, maybe you'd like a sword. The day's still young, and I'm still rather bored, so why not see if shopping can help rid me of my boredom."

Jacqueline proceed to guide them in the direction of the market, her grip remaining firmly around Jasmine's shoulders as they walked.

Argus Leandros

Well . . . that went over easier than I thought it would. She seemed right crazy the last two times we met, but now she seems almost mellow. Guess it was just that 'time of the month' or something, whatever the hell that means. Never got Jean to explain what that meant. And given how the women in the bar seemed to want to kill him whenever he asked that, I'll just not ask her about it, lest I set off her crazy crystal bitch mode again. Argus scratched the back of his head as he listened to Marlene's response, giving her a bit of a non-commital shrug in response. "I'll do my best, but sometimes these things just tend to happen, especially with powers like mine. It's why I really only have one set of clothes that could be considered wearable and a whole lot of rags. And don't worry about the guild stuff, it . . . worked itself out, one could say. Kinda. Anyway, just came to say that and will be on my way out if that's okay with ya? See you all at the ball-thing, I guess. All the guilds are invited to that, right?"

As the hours passed, drawing closer to the ball, there was a general hype of excitement in the air. Games officals worked hard to keep the atmosphere positive, but behind closed doors there was worry that something would happen. Rune Knights were already plastered about, and council members were seen. Carrie herself was studying the security with a practiced eye, giving a weary sigh. Just how had she got herself into this position, she wondered, not for the first time and certainly not for the last. She smoothed her dress, a bold yellow that had stripes of silver-blue colour running down it, almost like lightening. It was perhaps a bold statement, to remind people that she could very well beat the ever loving crap out of them with ease. Although perhaps not tonight, she thought wearily, rubbing a sore spot. She wasn't quite up to fighting standards, but no one need know that. Except, of course, Zephyr. Giving a sigh, Carrie nodded. Everything was, perhaps, as ready as they ever could be.

Penny, returned from back home, stood in front of the mirror in her room. While she wasn't adverse to wearing dresses, something puffy like a ball seemed to demand just wasn't her style. She shook her head, why should she go with conventional? Smoothing her hair back, but leaving a strand either side to frame her face, and tugged the sleeve of her dress down just slightly, so her guild mark would be revealed. The dress was red and black, with a smattering of gold thrown in here and there. It fell in a line that hugged her body just enough to show of her body's shape. And she still felt ridicolous in in.

Sighing, Penny slipped the communication Lacrima and teleportation lacrima that was essentially standard operating practice for the guild now, into a clutch purse that she was only carrying for that damn reason. Not that she expected to be attacked, or parted from the others, but it was always good to be prepared. Ready, Penny went to the door, to head out.

Jamie crouched, tugging Sam's dress down gently, and tying up the bow that came with it. Sam was a child in form, whehter or not her mind had been altered by her fifteen year death. Best she look the part. Not only would it go a long way to protecting Sam, but she did look positively adorable in her dress. Rising, Jamie herself was dressed in quite a simple dress that nevertheless looked striking. Perhaps it was due to her long stint on wearing clothes that were niether male or female, or perhaps it was merely the simplicity of it that caused such an affect. Even the boots she wore-practical and smart if there was a battle-and chances were there could be-didn't ruin the effect.

Of course, the reason why she wasn't wearing heels was simple. They hurt like hell, and she couldn't walk in them.

She glanced about, noting that there was a little bit of time, "Everyone ready? Amelia, did you need a hand?"

Trinity Stratos

Trinity glanced at the stack of plates Karn had made. That was more or less normal for Karn. She had to wonder how their guest was adjusting to all this, however. The unusual appetite, the magic.

"You'll have to show me what you learned about that ship. My dad's a ship architect and he taught me a little bit, but I haven't had a chance to study in a long time.”

When hungry, Trinity tended to make food disappear. Her plate was already empty, though she seemed satisfied with her meal. "Hmm, you're right. It wouldn't do to appear unbathed. Karn, come here so I can talk to you." Trinity got up and put her forehead to Karn's. She hadn't actually seen him in a little bit. It worried her some. Could he take control with a little motivation? "Now that I've eaten, I've got a couple of hours of meditation I need to do after that battle. That energy I absorbed isn't going to transform itself, you know. Karn. Bathe, please? I'm going to put on my largest performance yet at the ball tonight. If they'll let me. I would love for you to be there. So, please? Just this once, I know I'm asking a lot."

"Well, if I'm going to have the energy to perform tonight, I'd better go meditate." She gave the Karns a quick hug before scooting off upstairs. "See you there!" With that, the minstrel was off to her room. Trinity cleared a space in the center and sat. With a deep, slow breath, she began to form a magic circle of energy make around her. She had to stop at several points to hem and haw at how the circle went. It took her about five minutes to get it set up. There was the circle on the ground, and three energy make orbs floating above it. The circle would glow and pulse, and the orbs would begin to fill.

A few hours was what it took, and one bath later, Trinity was all dressed and ready for a party. She made her way to the hotel lobby, where she might run into Karn.
