Ri'vashi shook her head and laughed. "Darahil smiling? Now she knows you are lying to her."

When Gallus moved on to his next question, Ri'vashi was unsurprised. In fact, she had been expecting that question for a while, so she was able to look straight ahead at him confidently, without giving away her actual emotions. "Oh, Ri'vashi had looked at a lot of people since she arrived here. Her eyes work very well, even without as much light." She answered coyly. Regardless, it was only a few seconds before she decided to actually answer honestly.

"The Argonian representative Ri'vashi mentioned is a strong and capable man. Very respectable. Though there is also this...strikingly handsome Khajiit she has seen around the city, though she hasn't spoken much to him. She thinks he farms mushrooms. But anyways, Ri'vashi has not had time for such things. She cannot really afford the extra stress, to tell the truth." She said before leaning in towards Gallus. "But what have you? Have you managed to avoid any more black eyes or bruises from your own trysts?"

Gallus exaggerated his own coy response, speaking with from a round mouth with his fingers raised. "Well, as it happens, my eyes are working very well as well, perhaps not with as much darkness as you, but I am trying." He laughed though his nose and returned to sincerity. "No, since Sephy and Olivia made their feelings about my behaviour clear when I came back, I've started to practice what I learned since Elsweyr. I've not been...leading people on anymore. Not when I know it's not going to work out. So far, that's only been with one woman, but I doubt she'll be the last." He opened a hand. "Well, it would be two if I include you. You fit that category as well, I suppose."

Gallus lifted his shoulders in a deep breath and exhaled with a considering hum. He didn't seem so sure of himself until he returned his attention to Ri'vashi. "So!" He leaned forward on one fist, elbow on the table and his other hand on his hip. He ignored any notion of stress reducing Ri'vashi's chances. "Have either of them expressed interest in you?" He showed half his teeth in a poorly stifled grin. "I didn't know you were interested in Argonians."

Ri'vashi laughed. "Hmm, neither did Ri'vashi. She had never been interested in anyone that wasn't Khajiit before. Or, to be entirely honest, had never felt attraction to anyone that wasn't Khajiit. It is hard to say that Ri'vashi was actually 'interested' in anyone when she was growing up, since she was too afraid to let herself be interested. But, she supposes you changed that. You were nice, and you look good enough for being fur-less, so maybe Ri'vashi started to appreciate other kinds of people. Though if she is being honest, you do look more handsome as a werewolf." She joked.

So as not to keep the focus too much on Gallus, Ri'vashi continued. "Anyways, the Argonian representative, Nazaklim, doesn't serve as a warrior himself, but he used to be a soldier before he became a werecrocodile. So he knows what it's like to fight, and Ri'vashi respects the kinds of decisions he makes. He does well for his clan. Plus, he's strong enough to keep up with Ri'vashi when sparring. A bit stronger, actually."

Gallus snorted in response to the comment on his appearance. "Didn't stop you, Ri'vashi."

Talk of this Nazaklim piqued Gallus interest. The last detail in particularade Gallus raise his eyebrows. "Really?" He said in a high voice. "Don't tell me he's got past your defenses?" His grin continued. "All this desk work has made you sloppy, clan leader. Or..." His voice lowered to a daring murmur. "You might have just met your match."

"Well...not really." Ri'vashi answered, shrugging her shoulders. "He's a force of nature in terms of brute force, but he doesn't have the same finesse as Ri'vashi. Any werecrocodile is going to be physically powerful, but he isn't any faster than the average warrior. Still, Ri'vashi doesn't have to hold back with him. It's nice to know that you don't have to always be so careful just to not hurt someone else."

Since Gallus had opted to tease Ri'vashi, she felt free to fire right back at him. "Ri'vashi knows how fragile you are. It's not your fault, of course; can't help that you were born that way. At least Ri'vashi didn't break your hip that night outside Vile's fortress." She grinned.

"I see, that makes more sense," Gallus said, raising his lips in concession.

When a teasing retort came his way, he smiled again and narrowed his eyes. "Well, you should have said so if you wanted it rough," he shot back. "Even with the wine, I remember that you were so nervous it was a wonder you didn't hurt yourself."

Gallus sat up straight again to drink and wiped his mouth with his sleeve. "Regardless, what's he like outside of the ring?"

Ri'vashi snorted. "Heh, Ri'vashi would be the only one who could hurt Ri'vashi in that situation. You've never really felt all of her strength, Gallus, she can promise you that."

As they started speaking about Nazaklim once more, Ri'vashi brought up her hand and rested her cheek against it. "He's busy, mostly. Like Ri'vashi. Well, not as much as Ri'vashi, but he doesn't like to be idle. Because of the nature of Black Marsh, it can be harder to supply his clan when they need it. The swamps make it harder for them to earn gold, so we have to supply more to them than a lot of other clans. Nazaklim likes to be as helpful as possible in return. But, that means he appreciates his time with friends even more. Ri'vashi finds he is very good at separating work from leisure."

Ri'vashi rubbed the back of her neck. "But, um, just to be clear, we are not together, or anything like that. We are just friends."

Gallus held a gentle smile. "Never said you were, clan leader." He twisted his mouth and took a deep breath. "That said-" he itched the side of his nose, "-perhaps you should ask if you can join him and his friends more. Perhaps probe the situation more out of a professional setting. You might excuse yourself from taking a chance in your own mind, but it won't be there forever. Go on and take a chance!"

While lifting his mug to his lips, Gallus paused halfway and caught Ri'vashi's eye. "Although, maybe don't try just getting drunk with him and gushing until you can lift him into bed. That was sweet and all, but I tend to be more open to those situations than most." He drank another swig and held his fist to his mouth to direct a quiet burp through his nose. "Try a romantic dinner or something, I don't know."

Ri'vashi crossed her arms, staring down Gallus with a hard-to-read expression. Though, she did look away for just a moment to take another drink. "Ri'vashi...thinks she should do as Ri'vashi pleases. Maybe she will speak to him; maybe she won't. Maybe Ri'vashi just doesn't need a romance in her life right now. That is a possibility for someone, you know? Even if this one cannot claim personal experience, she does know that she has been happy before, without anyone being that close to her, emotionally speaking. Can't you say that about yourself? That you've been happy without having someone you'd consider a 'romantic' partner? It might be easier for Ri'vashi to just not try to connect herself to someone like that."

Though she was comfortable speaking with Gallus about such personal matters, she could not help but to shift uncomfortably in her seat. Being able to speak to someone about it still did not mean it was pleasant by any means. She spoke up again, mostly just to fill the silence. "Oh, and, it isn't really accurate to call Ri'vashi a clan leader anymore. She doesn't have a clan to lead. She is more of a General now."

"Well..." Gallus stopped and let out the rest of his breath. He scratched at his chest and turned his eyes away, shifting his tone. "You're right. I apologise, I merely became excited. Whatever I yammer on about, you shouldn't stop doing what you think is best for you. I'm not your parent." He chuckled.

Ri'vashi's final clarification gave Gallus the opportunity to dodge the question of his happiness outside of a relationship. He took it without hesitation.

"I'm just teasing you," he said with a grin. "I could tease you with your proper title if you like, general."

Ri'vashi waved her hand dismissively. "You could tease Ri'vashi with anything, Gallus. It's your specialty. But, how about instead of talking about each others' love lives, we find something more interesting to do? Something that doesn't involve dwelling on all of these...serious things." She suggested.

By this point, Ri'vashi had gone through the last of her drink, but it would be a simple matter to get another, if she so desired. It all depended on how much and for how long Gallus intended to drink that evening. Ri'vashi, though she could not shake her concerns for her responsibilities, was glad to get a break from them.

"As you wish, general," Gallus replied with a smile. "Something interesting would..." He stopped to tip the last dregs of his ale down his throat and looked inside his mug. "First of all, another drink. Then I think we might join the rest of the crowd over there." Gallus waved a thumb at the group that included Uthri. "They have plenty of interesting things to talk about."

Gallus stood up. "Oh, slap me if you like, but I'll be honest. I was going to introduce a few fine Khajiit gentlemen to you tonight if I found out that you had been antisocial while I was away. I'm glad I don't need to."

Ri'vashi stood up shortly after Gallus, shaking her head at him. "Don't worry, Ri'vashi wouldn't have slapped you; she might have broken something. No, she would just get one of your old trysts to do it for her."

---

Even for complete outsiders like Ariel and Rukeewei, the clan did eventually present them with a routine that they could become accustomed to. Ariel, of course, had her work on the antidote almost every day. Meesei granted any and all requests for supplies, tools, or other resources that she made, regardless of how important or trivial they might have been. Meesei's priorities were rather clear in that the search for the antidote took precedence over all other concerns. No expense was too great, nor any mission too much of a risk if it meant furthering the cause of nullifying the soul-tearing gas. Rukeewei certainly had a hard time adapting, but it was actually Lorag that managed to help him make the first steps by proposing the idea of giving him something familiar to work on. Namely, they allowed Rukeewei to have the resources to brew alcohol for the clan, and serve it as well. It gave him some purpose in the clan, as well as being something familiar for him to do. It was nothing like running his own inn, but it allowed him to fill out his days without bothering his wife while she worked. The feeling that he was not happy with the clan never went away entirely, but he did grow more content with the situation. At the very least, he stopped being afraid of every new person he met.

In the year that followed, Ariel and Rukeewei were able to make the clan their home, but the time did eventually come to pass that they were to return to their real homes in Black Marsh. Fortunately, Ariel's time in Skyrim did bear fruit. It was not the complete solution that Meesei had been hoping for, but it was a promising start. It was a solution that provided some hope that they might one day triumph over Vile's forced. It was an antidote; a working antidote without any harmful side effects aside from mild dry mouth. It prevented the soul-tearing gas from interacting with a lycan's beast spirit at all, and therefore prevented it from having any effect whatsoever. Ariel could get it to last for about a day and a half, though she was confident its duration could be improved with further research. Unfortunately, it was not enough to end the threat of the gas, for it required some significantly rare ingredients that could not be easily acquired or farmed. The greatest issue was a particular root that was found only in a few realms of Oblivion. Clavicus Vile's realm was not the only source, luckily, but it took skilled conjurers quite a lot of time and effort to acquire it. There was simply no way to distribute enough to protect their soldiers, much less the non-combatants of a clan. Overall, it allowed them to make attacks against Vile once more, but nothing large enough to seriously threaten any enemy stronghold.

Despite Ariel's research being only a partial success, Meesei granted her the full reward for her efforts and gave her the means to communicate with the Blackreach clan should she decide to continue her research from Thorn. Upon Saras' insistence, Ariel was also taught how to code her messages to reduce the danger of them being intercepted. Ariel and Rukeewei's departure from the clan was certainly an emotional affair, considering how long they had been a part of it by that point, but they had their lives to return to and could not stay forever.

Even after multiple objections from her council and the clan's leadership, Meesei had elected to start using Hermeus Mora's Black Book not long after they had returned from Black Marsh. To her credit, she did maintain some restraint into when and how she used it. In an effort to prevent herself from becoming "addicted" to the pursuit of knowledge, she gave herself strict limits on how long, and how many times per week she could enter Apocrypha. As well, she forbade the book from being taken out of the clan's vault, by her or anyone else, and she would only read it with someone to watch over her. As such, she did not bring it with her on the missions she and her pack undertook. In the two years after Ariel's initial arrival, the Champion's pack undertook multiple missions directly attacking Vile's followers. Obtaining the antidote to the soul-tearing gas made them even more bold and aggressive in their attacks. Through training experience, and multiple trials-by-fire, Meesei and her pack grew in skill both as individuals and a cohesive group. They were not invincible by any means, but they were steadily growing to live up to the potential that Meesei said she saw in them. The potential she claimed Hircine saw in them. One mission took them all the way to Hammerfell, but the simple issue of travelling made it impossible for them to personally handle all of the important problems and other missions that arose with other clans across Tamriel. However, Meesei claimed to have a potential solution to that problem, after a session in Apocrypha. So confident was she that she gave the order for one of the Morrowind clans to mount a potentially dangerous expedition into the ashen wastes of Vvardenfell in search of something in particular. But, she did not give any unnecessary details to anyone outside her council.

While the war with Vile always loomed over them, there was still plenty of time for the more mundane, and even joyful parts of their lives to maintain importance. Newt, according to Kaleeth, was reaching the age and maturity where it was time for him to receive his name. He had grown into a personality enough that he could actually meaningfully receive one. She had waited for months, but after a shipment of Hist sap arrived from one of the clans in Black Marsh, they were finally ready. Kaleeth spent over a week preparing for the ceremony, though most of that was just ensuring in triplicate that she knew how to carry it out correctly. There were no Argonian priests in Blackreach, so she had to make due with what she knew and could learn. She invited every one of their friends to attend if they wanted, but was very insistent that the ceremony not take place in the city itself. Naturally, there were no Hist Trees for them to use, but Kaleeth was intent on at least having the ceremony in some place that felt "natural." The giant mushrooms surrounding the city were enough like a forest to fulfill her preferences, and it had been years since any major threats had come close to the city.

Kaleeth had taken the time to stitch together something that at least resembled the traditional garb of her village. It was not exceptionally different from her normal loincloth and hides, but she was decorated with more bone jewelry and feathers. Newt was dressed similarly. They were all gathered just outside the gate to the Silent City waiting for the last few people to arrive. Kaleeth was nervous and excited in equal measure, much moreso than Newt himself. Everything that would happen during the ceremony and its importance had been explained to him, but he simply needed to just go along with whatever his mother told him. Newt was with Rhazii and their other friends from the clan, while Kaleeth looked on alongside Janius. She put her arm around him and smiled, but also looked as if she might start crying. "This is such a big day for our son, such a big day for us. I never would have imagined what it would be like to have a hatchling growing up like this. Though he won't be a hatchling after today, really. Still a child, as you would say, but no hatchling."

Two years of living in an underground city, earmarked by the occasional mission, did not assist in the security of the pack's life. However, it did galvanise them. Each time they went out, they came back improved, until all of them were capable units in the field. That was, of course, excepting the children.

Only one mission had Rhazii and Newt tag along with the pack in that two years. That was only because it was something of a trade and negotiation mission with another clan -- nothing to do with attacking Vile's forces. With every other time leaving them in the hands of guardians within the clan, they even started to get used to their parents' being away for portions of time. It made their bond as brothers more secure than ever, especially with Newt growing to understand more of the world around him.

Even with the children being separated from their parents so often, the greatest tumult in the pack was suffered by Sabine. She was under the most consistent stress in trying to find an antidote for the soul tearing gas. Marcaille found the synergy she shared with Ariel to be quite extraordinary after a while. It began to seem as if they communicated through telepathy with how closely and efficiently they worked. Even a novice alchemist could deduce that either of them working alone could not have done half the amount of research that they pulled off within the year of Ariel's stay. Even so, the weight of responsibility was heavy on Sabine, causing her to require support from Ariel and Meesei on more than a few occasions. The closure in finding the cure was one that all the clan knew when they saw Sabine darting through the streets of the Silent City. She even burst through the door into an ongoing council meeting to announce it.

Though, the cure was bittersweet, not just for its drawbacks, but because it was found close to the end of Ariel's stay. They improved it with the time they had left, taking as much time in one another's company as they could before they said their farewells once again. It was not quite as emotional as the first time the pack left Ariel in Thorn, but there was no shortage of grief. Even Rukeewei got an emotional farewell. He couldn't escape forging an attachment with the rest of the pack over the year of his stay. In the end, Ariel promised the pack once again that they were always welcome to visit. Sabine promised that she would visit after the war, no matter what.

Once the cure was finished, Sabine had some time to pursue her previous training more closely. With Meesei's instruction and the missions the pack undertook, she advanced from an accomplished mage to an impressive one. Meesei's magic was still superior, if only because of extra experience, coupled with what she had studied from the Black Book. However, Sabine could how cast a spell to summon a whirlwind of deadly freezing air around herself, her warding had made her a stubborn magical duellist, and she was now skilled enough in restoration that she could actively assist and participate in Meesei's self-treatment in removing the trace silver from her heart.

Janius smiled in turn, bringing his arm around Kaleeth's waist. Upon her insistence, he was dressed in traditional garb as well, sans a tail hole. Janius played along, as he knew next to nothing about the ceremony without Kaleeth telling him. Although, he was able to assist Kaleeth's worries before by reminding her that their pack alpha used to be a tree minder herself. Kaleeth and Meesei were able to assemble the ceremony with much greater authenticity together.

"It is amazing," Janius said. "I won't pretend that it has been all easy. But...it's still a vivid memory, seeing him hardly bigger than my arms. I'm proud of Newt. Hmph, might not be calling him Newt after today." In a moment of pedantic anxiety, Janius looked to Kaleeth directly. "You have the sap? Is everything ready?"

The rest of the pack were all there. Fendros stood next to Ahnasha, piggybacking Rhazii, despite the young Khajiit being markedly larger than most children his age.

"Dada? Why does Newt get a special party for his birthday this year?" Rhazii asked.

"Well, little one, Argonians have a special birthday once when they're children," Fendros explained. "It's special because it's when they get their names."

"But Newt has a name. It's Newt."

Fendros grinned. "That's just a nickname, son. And not one he is likely to lose." Fendros threw Rhazii a fraction further up his back to readjust. "He'll get a true name today. Just like you got the name Rhazii."

Emerging from the gate was a familiar voice. "Sorry for keeping all you waiting!" Gallus lead Uthri, Peiter, and Tzirret to the pack with a characteristic grin on his face. "Oh, are we dressed appropriately?" Gallus asked as he placed a hand each on Janius and Kaleeth's shoulders. "We wouldn't miss something like this, not for friends like you."

"Congratulations, you two," Uthri mentioned with a smile. "We shall have to congratulate the boy, too. He looks so cute in those clothes!"

Kaleeth had been stressing herself about the ceremony for the past few days, but she could at least answer Janius confidently. "Everything is as ready as I can make it. It's a shame he won't be able to have his ceremony in the presence of the Hist, but at least we have the sap." Kaleeth could admit that Meesei might have been more qualified to carry out the ceremony, but even Meesei had not performed a Naming Day ceremony before. Her responsibilities as Treeminder of her village did not include such ceremonies. Regardless, Meesei had offered her advice. Kaleeth's naming day ceremony had been one of the earliest and most impactful days of her life, and she wanted to give her son the same experience. It was greatly important to Kaleeth, as evidenced by the almost excessive amount of effort that she had been placing into preparing. In truth, it was neither that long nor complicated of a ceremony, but Kaleeth wanted it to be perfect.

Several of the pack's friends had been able to escape their duties long enough to attend the ceremony. Newt and Rhazii had several friends their age that were coming along. Fortunately, a few of their parents were also in attendance to make sure they did not grow too rowdy during the ceremony itself. Gallus' pack joined them as well, and even Ri'vashi was able to attend, as she had told Kaleeth and Janius the previous day. Although, Ri'vashi had not actually said anything to anyone yet.

"Well, I think he looks cute all the time." Kaleeth chuckled to Uthri. "But, yes, he looks even cuter now. I don't think Newt is used to all this attention being on him. Back in the village, all of the hatchlings of the same age would go through the ceremony at the same time. I was worried he would get nervous at all the attention, but I think the, um, birthday tradition you have has helped. We didn't have birthdays back in my village, so it was rare for everyone to have a celebration for one person. It doesn't seem that strange here, though."

Uthri tilted her head to one side in surprise. "No birthdays? Well, if this is not done in your village, perhaps having one big day makes up for it?" Uthri turned around to Newt, just as Rhazii had climbed down from Fendros' back and joined him. "Newt is lucky that he gets both," Uthri laughed.

Janius was the first to address Ri'vashi when she arrived. He gave her a nod and a smile. "I'm glad you could join us, general Ri'vashi."

The title caused an initially distracted Gallus to turn around and grin. "Good morning!" He raised a hand in greeting to Ri'vashi.

Newt was, of course, surrounded by the gaggle of friends that were invited to the ceremony, but Rhazii eventually caught his attention. He had only just learned the nature of the naming day and had his ears perked with excitement. "What name are you going to get, Newt?" Rhazii asked.

Ri'vashi gave her greetings in response to Janius, but both her words and expression were monotone, almost emotionless. An attitude that did not change with Gallus' enthusiastic greeting. "Yes, um, morning." She responded with a slight wave. However, she was still keeping her distance from most of the others and appeared to be uncomfortable overall.

Newt, aside from being of the opinion that the feathers his mother was having him wear tickled him too much whenever he tried to run, was looking forward to the ceremony. He had been nervous at first, but with how nicely everyone was treating him, he was glad to have everyone's attention. Few, if any, of his friends actually understood the point of the ceremony, but they were in good moods from the promise of treats afterwards. For Rhazii's question, he shrugged his shoulders, then quickly brushed away one of the feathers he displaced on his necklace. "Don't know. Mamma didn't tell me. She said I won't be a hatchling anymore, though. As soon as I drink the sap."

With how eager Kaleeth was to start the ceremony, it was not long after everyone arrived that she called for everyone to follow her and Janius to the spot they had picked out to hold the ceremony. It was a simple clearing among the forest of glowing mushrooms, and was just a few minutes walk from the city. Newt was still happy to be with his friends, but Ri'vashi seemed to be looking for any excuse to be alone.

"So, it makes you grow up?" Rhazii asked. His eyes lit up. "Can I have some?"

"Oh no you don't, little one." Fendros took Rhazii's hand as the procession moved on towards the mushroom forest. "Hist sap is only for Argonians, it'll make you sick and give you bad dreams unless someone like Meesei says its okay," Fendros explained. "Not to mention, it is very hard to find outside of Black Marsh, and that is a long way away."

"Aw," Rhazii's ears drooped in disappointment.

"Don't feel too bad. Just a few years and-" Fendros lifted a flat hand up while blowing a raspberry, eliciting laughter from Rhazii and some of the other children. "-you'll both probably be taller than me."

Near the back of the walking group, Ri'vashi's reluctance did not escape some eyes. Given her rank and prestige in the clan, it fell to Gallus to go and talk to her, but not before Uthri suggested that he do so. Gallus was unsure whether or not Ri'vashi was simply keeping to herself. Nevertheless, he approached her by slowing his pace until he fell behind as well.

Gallus reached Ri'vashi by the time the group stopped at the clearing. He had his hands behind his back and was giving a curious look, half-smiling. "Tired this morning? You don't seem too mingly today."

As the group reached the clearing, Kaleeth was both eager and nervous to begin. In truth, she knew well that she was overreacting. She was perfectly aware that she was stressing herself over something that was just going to last a few minutes. At least, the ceremony itself would not last long at all. All that she would need to do would be to say a few words explaining the importance of the event, allow Newt to drink the sap, then give him his name. In her village, there were usually many children going through the ceremony, and licking the sap directly from the Hist trees could lead to visions for the hatchlings that could last some time. However, all the way up in Skyrim, Meesei said that the connection would not be nearly as intense, nor last as long. Kaleeth felt it was a shame, but it was nonetheless an important day for Newt. There would have been a feast in her village after the ceremony, but in this case, it would be more of an outing with friends. They had brought food enough for everyone, and the children would have free reign to play with one another for longer than they usually would outside the city. They were old enough to understand not to eat the toxic mushrooms that filled the cavern, but most parents preferred to keep an eye on them regardless. And they were close to one of Blackreach's many rivers, which Newt always enjoyed. Swimming was the only time that he could be unequivocally superior to Rhazii in their physical competitions.

Seeing as most of those in attendance did not know precisely what was going to happen, Kaleeth decided to open up by explaining. "Thank you all for joining us. The Naming Day has always been a social event back in my village, in all Argonian villages, and I'm glad you can all help give my son the same experience. Today is the day where he, my and my dear Janius' son, forges his connection with the Hist. It's the day where he moves from being a hatchling, to a full part of the clan. In Black Marsh, we would say it is the day where he joins with the root, when he truly becomes Saxhleel: the 'people of the root.' For us here in the clan, I suppose it is a bit different, but it is a day that shows he is not the hatchling he once was, all the same. After this day, he will have his true name." After her explanation, Kaleeth unsealed the hardened, opaque glass bottle which contained the Hist sap, which had not been opened since it was first bottled in Black Marsh. Newt would not have the opportunity to lick the sap from a tree, but she had also requisitioned a bowl made from the bark of a tree in Black Marsh. It was not Hist bark, of course, but she hoped it would improve the ceremony's authenticity at least somewhat.

Before Kaleeth had even spoke, Ri'vashi had been surprisingly hesitant to speak even to Gallus. She was usually willing to open up to him when they could speak privately, but this time was different. She did not make eye contact and seemed to have trouble forming her words. "Oh...yeah, Ri'vashi is just...well it doesn't matter right now. Just enjoy the ceremony."

The group was quite as they watched the ceremony progress. The children were sitting on the ground in a group while the adults stood behind them. Janius stood by Kaleeth with a proud smile.

"Oh, okay," Gallus replied to Ri'vashi tersely, as if her clearly nervous state was nothing. He turned his eyes to look at the ceremony, but did not walk away just yet.

A few minutes into the ceremony -- likely near the end with how brief it was meant to be -- Gallus leaned to one side and murmured to Ri'vashi in an effort not to disturb everyone else. "Tell me to drop it if you like, but you're worse at hiding your discomfort than my boys are."
