@Ollumhammersong Sounds pretty good. Shame about how that affects Charne's sheet, but we can work on how he gets to your guy in PMs.

@Fenris123 Actually 'Eyeruption' expressed interest in that roll. You may have to talk/fisticuff him for it

GM POST

So, I've been getting messages that as of right now there are some people in disagreement with each others CS. I will not be mentioning names but I will say that I expected better of everyone involved and that I knew this would happen.

As such, I'm going to come back in control of CS reviews with all of my GM god powers. You can talk amongst yourself about each other's CS but final approval will be back in my hands. Please link me or repost your CS in the thread for GM review, do not PM them to do and if you do I will not respond to them in PMs. Feel free to tell me about any disagreements or grievances that might have arisen due to the old rule and I'll address them.

If you feel like that your individual creative freedoms will be limited because of this move, I can only hope you aren't as childish as that; I said I was a hard ass GM at the start, you should have expected it.

In other news, an OOC will be going up soon, ideally by the weekend.

This is still in draft form, as I have not yet been able to update it to fit with the relevant Inquisitor information.

@DepressedSoviet On Tekrat's pacifistic nature, does he absolutely avoid conflict and runs away from it constantly? If he was told to follow the party into what was very likely a battle or skirmish, would he just bail and run for the hills? Does he just curl up in a corner with his hands over his head in his hands if just suddenly a fight errupted? What if he's charged by a cultist, does he run face and run or try to pull off a shot with his revolver?

@BCTheEntity The main issues I see is with his war gear. You say that a chainsword would "produce too much recoil" and yet you give a 13 year old, unaugmented boy a bolt pistol and expect him not to severely bruise his shoulder or break his wrist when he fires it? Bolt weapons still have sizable recoil that takes time getting used to, even for a fully grown adult, even the pistols. I see no reason why he can't just be given a stubber or even a laspistol, both of which would be more than suitable for him. The fact he's carrying around a sword is a minor thing; I suspect that he would be more likely to carry around a knife. Overall, it seems like that you are given him the equipment one would expect from an adult psyker/null/agent, never mind the fact that you are playing a prepubescent boy.

@ClocktowerEchosIf ordered by a superior, he will fight, just don't expect him to actually be competent, or to not make his distaste heard during or after the fight. If attacked he will defend himself, but he's hardly anything closed to trained. The most he knows is point-and-click shooting, and he's used to having armed PDF or Militarum guards around, but he will defend himself if necessary, and fight if told to do so.

@ClocktowerEchos See, that's why it's in draft form, so that changes can be made. I was personally under the impression that bolt pistols didn't have quite as much recoil as is claimed, not least due to advances in recoil absorption tech since the 21st century, but apparently they are just as unwieldy as a .50 weapon of the modern age. I can make it a las or autopistol instead, at the cost of a lot of his firepower, though I rather wonder what differs between the sword and the knife aside from length. Is it not the case that people train in swordsmanship from a young age in order to get very good at it?

@DepressedSoviet Seems reasonable enough.

@BCTheEntity I need to call you out on something mate:

I can make it a las or autopistol instead, at the cost of a lot of his firepower

Last I checked, a Null's primary purpose isn't to be a walking armory and able to stand their ground in combat. No, its the fact they absolutely fuck over anything relating to the warp. Why would he even need "fire power" of that level to begin with? He's not even constantly trying to fight space marines on a daily basis or any individuals with an equal amount of heavy armor. If he's a decent shot with a laspistol, he can easily take down the average assailant or at least cripple them; las weaponry is stronger than most people give it credit for since everything the IG fights is so heavily armored, it makes their weaponry look weak in comparison.

As for the sword thing, I fail to see a reason why he would need swordsmanship skills. He was in the Proginium mainly because he was a Blank and was trained to harness his powers as a blank no? He's not living on a feral or feudal world where such skills would be wanted. He doesn't seem to be someone driven by high martial prowess/desire/dreams. Plus, a knife is a hell of a lot easier to hide and conceal and nothing in his personality says anything about him being the bold and brash type who wants to show off or doesn't care for subtly. It also leads to the point above as to why do you desperately need a sword? To make sure he has enough "fighting strength"?

@Wraithblade6 Nope although warning there is a Blank but I think he powers are more or less under control to the point where he isn't too much of a danger and everyone wants to kill him for no reason?

Feel free to do so though, so long as their voice if full of waffles and you can tell me how to remake Fresian Ale in the Warp.

@ClocktowerEchos One gun and one close combat weapon is hardly a "walking armoury". Yes, you are right that Nulls are not particularly intended to be active fighters. Given that they are relatively rare and valuable assets, however- insofar as human bodies can be considered "valuable" in the Imperium- it makes sense to arm, and to an appropriate extent armour, them on the off-chance that they do get into a fight, for instance if they're ordered to help their Inquisitional master in a firefight. And as far as fights go, it only makes sense to arm somebody with a strong weapon, which bolt pistols evidently are in this case. Once again, I admit that I may have underestimated the caliber and recoil of such, and have further stated that I'm willing to make it a las/autopistol instead (as well as the fact that it will reduce his firepower, because it is literally true that bolt pistols deal more damage per shot than their las and auto equivalents). It's also been described privately that marching around in carapace armour is not suited for Ollum's Inquisitor's style of action, so I'm more than willing to remove that from his wargear too.

As for the sword, is there any particular reason he shouldn't be trained in swordsmanship? Swords are reasonably common weapons in the Imperium, and undoubtedly deal more damage than knives, which matters more in this setting than in the real world even at the more basic levels, because knife stabs don't actually kill people immediately unless a few specific spots are targeted, and may not penetrate armour that a sword would deal with more readily. Also, since his fate outside of the Inquisition would likely have been the ASSASSIN Temples, to be trained as a Culexus ASSASSIN, and given that the Schola Progenium teaches its wards how to kill things anyway, it seems quite reasonable that he'd have started training with both knives and swords at the Schola, then continued his weapons training under whichever Inquisitor picked him up from the temple, say Inquisitor Karthis prior to his death. If it simplifies matters, I can just say his melee weapon is a "close combat weapon", make it maybe a foot, foot and a half long, and just leave it at that. You can conceal that sort of blade length reasonably well, if I'm not mistaken?

@BCTheEntity you seem to be thinking about damage in terms of dice rolls and hit boxes he larger the gun the larger the damage dice.

This is more freeform. A well wielded 16" inch balden is just as effective as a 36" one. You only need 3" of point to kill someone

@Ollumhammersong You need more than 3 inches to kill someone quickly, though. At least if you're aiming for the center of mass. Like, you stab somebody in the chest with a knife a few times, it will likely deal lethal damage, but it's probably not going to instantly slay them, so far as I'm aware. They might not even realise they've been stabbed at first, and could consequently react by stabbing or shooting you back in that case. The equivalent sword attack is one or two swings at their center of mass with the blade - takes more time per attack with less precision, but there's consequently more force behind each attack, meaning you're probably going to lop their arm off or tear open a gaping hole in their abdominal cavity with each one if the attack isn't stopped by armour, and in 40K armour that stops swords most likely stops knives to the same areas.

@BCTheEntity It would be best if you used a las/autopistol with a CCW that's 1 foot overall, not a 1 foot blade; I'll let you decide how much blade your weapon has. As I have said before, your role as a Blank isn't there to being a soldier, its there to forcibly shove large, pointy objects into a the mental ass of anything connected to the warp, there are those who are proficient in the art of fighting well enough to defend the rest of you. Also, may I remind you that this is your STARTING equipment, no one said that you will be using the same stuff right now for the next 20+ years of your character's life, you can get other equipment as time progresses, just don't expect anything massive right at the start.

Also, if people are stressing so much about the combat capabilities of their characters so much, I am just going to have everyone try to fight a traitor marine warband or a warhound titan or several thousand cultists at once. Seriously, do not worry about it. Do you all think that I'm going to drop all your characters into a war zone, split up and separated as legions of greater daemons spew forth lead by the Chaos gods themselves?

@The Survivor As for your CS, she's a bit younger, but its excusable and honestly a minor thing. The only question I have is where she got a choke grenade from.

Larger does not always mean better. Sometimes less is more. Smaller sword swing faster, a swing from a larger blade is not 'equivalent' to multiple swings of a smaller one. It is entirely dependent on how one uses the blade and personal skill. A swing from a larger sword does not Garuntee decapitation, disembowelmemt, or amputation. Or even serious injury as odd as that is to say. I mean hell, enough leather or quilted cloth can impede a slash with a sabre. Yet far less force or blade length is needed to effectively stab someone.
