I'm sure this has been posted about... several times. But it really bugs me when people don't pay attention. Someone else had worded it very well, when they don't contribute to the story, write whatever they feel like which ends up so out of context and nearly derails the rp.

You'll ask them for one thing, and they'll give you something completely off the railing, time after time, the same damn thing in 50 different ways.

It's like taking what I wrote and shitting all over it. It's a huge slap in the face to the rp in general and makes you just want to shake the person.

I just want someone that pays attention and actually contributes. End of rant.

Alright, so I spent some time critiquing this thing brought up by the GM, because a little OCD about it and I lacked understanding. It was rude at the time, things were fixed, and I learned my lesson. Now, every time I think I'm reminding them of something or adding in a point, they jump to the conclusion that I'm rudely critiquing at them. Can't suggest or add anything without being accused of being rude.

I blacklist them. I hate that. It's rude af. And it doesn't happen only on this site.

Sometimes it is perceived to be easier for that person to ignore the PM and just reply to the ones they are interested in as to not provoke an argument. I know I’ve had to deal with incidents like these to the point if I don’t feel like the prospective/interested partner even read the details of my check (or my standards) then I just don’t reply. It may be rude, but I find it rude that someone skimmed what I was looking for in a partner outside of ctrl+f-ing for their fandom we share.

(I've had a bad day, so to release steam, I need to bitch about some things. I'm new to this as well.)

I hate roleplayers who think they're the most professional at things, that say you have to be super elite or something to join their roleplay.

That doesn't really happen on this site much, but believe me. I've seen it.

Also, I dislike to deal with impatient roleplayers. For example, they don't even read the previous posts on the roleplay, and write something completely fucking different than what the others said, or people that just expect you to post a OOC when you have the interest check. Like they'd read your comment about you making it, but they'll be like "Any day now.." It's rude, and I understand that you like the roleplay and want to make the Character Sheet and post as soon as possible, it's rude as hell.

Speaking of rude and impatient, people that post twice when the roleplay just started. Some people don't really know that it's polite to wait when it comes to that, which I get. But for the people that know to wait until everyone's posted their beginning posts, it irritates me so much.

The large amount of bad partners I've had to deal with that just made me try different things, and get higher standards to keep those away. In the end, I still got even more bad partners, which made me raise my standards more. At this point I'm guessing my standards may be too high, but at the same time I don't know if lowering them would change anything or not. I don't know if telling people my standards serves a purpose either, because a lot of people so blatantly ignore them. I feel like it's nothing else than a gamble with people if you want to do any 1x1 RP, and the odds are very poor for finding someone good. At least for me, because in the last year I've found very few, if any.

Sorry interrupt on the bad partners rant, guys, but I feel like I need to get this off my chest.

So, as being a community full of writers, I suppose that we appreciate and respect the vast majority of things such as plots and/or characters that people come up with her, correct? So, what really freaking gets on my nerves is when I see someone with a EXCELLENT plot and then someone comes along and says 'oh this is similar to a plot that I had once.' Perhaps they do not mean to accuse the GM of stealing a plot, but it really gets to me and I feel that if done so many times, that it may discredit some great writers.

Don't get me wrong, I do realize that there are some similarities in plots, but... do you guys see where I'm coming from, maybe?

@HaleyTheRandom To answer Haley, there's....virtually nothing that original anymore. It is a pain in the gonads to be accused of plagiarism yes, but the thing is alot of writers plagiarize without even knowing. Sure they could try to spruce it up and add their own original ideas to a tried and tested formula, but when it all comes down to it, a pig with makeup is still a pig...just now with a crossdressing fetish andNOIDON'TKNOWWHATI'MGOINGONABOUTGOAWAY!

The point is, it's difficult for many writers to come up with anything that is 100% smack-dab original, and yes, while there are a ton of talented writers here on RP, I still find myself saying sometimes I know I've seen this somewhere before.

Now as for the bitching: FUCKING FUCKSTICKS! I JUST GOT BACK FROM WALMART AND NOW THE DM IS CALLING ME IN FOR A 5 TO 11 SHIFT!! FUCK! MY! LIFE!!!!

I hate how creativity treats me like shit, but I just keep coming back for more.

I'm sometimes afraid I'll just wake up one day and realize my creativity's left me, taken all my nascent ideas with it, and is never coming back. We didn't sign a prenup.

I'm even more afraid of never realizing that and writing under the delusion that I've still got it. Panic ensues.

Buy yourself a notebook or take random notes in your phone. Any time you have a cool idea, write it down. Most of it when you look back will appear crap, but it helps spark ideas and designs. :)

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll need to do it on a more regular basis, instead of just writing down only the ideas I highly favor. Creativity is probably giving me the silent treatment because I keep complaining the ideas are crap, haha.

My biggest issue isn't so much other people but more myself. It feels like 99% of the time I know what I want to write but I can't put it into words.

Its feels like I am trying to use a foreign language at times.

People spreading themselves too thin.... You'll get a group together, everything is going great. Then people start joining other Rp's or starting one, then you get the message - No time to post - but you see them posting trying to get into even more Rp's.

I have no problem with people being in as many rp's they want but if it spreads you too thin, cut back. Don't let all the rp's you are in suffer because you're taking on more than you can realistically handle.

Trust me, quality beats quantity any day of the week. You'll enjoy it more, stress less and burn out less often.

@Lady Amalthea you could also find that the person is perhaps bored with 1 RP and wants to join another, but is too gutless to just leave or say, "maybe this isn't my thing".

For me, half the time I actually had to mentally translate what I want to write to English...

The woe of being multilingual.

I dunno about you guys, but I believe that there is no such thing as absolute originality. Unless you're capable to churning out something out of completely nothing, even the most talented writers have to get their inspirations from something/somewhere/someone that are already in existence.

Also, there are things called "common sense", "social norm", "humanity" etc. that are the cage to our creativity - in which many people have tried to break them, but we still continue to live our lives within the walls of these rules.

Having the RP end because I suggest something, it is a suggestion people you don't have to use it. Those who don't like them should go write a book or something if you don't want them, but that does not mean you should kill an RP off because I brought something up that could improve or add a twist to something. I want to write a few books at some point and I am actually going to ask for some suggestions and not get mad about it as you don't need to do them.

That feeling when you meet a nice RP, and you hit things off and think that everything is going great.

Then, the RP starts drinking - maybe just one too many - and it starts to get really belligerent with you.

You know it's good at heart, so instead of telling it off you just try to tune it out.

Then it tries to invite you to its home, but you're understandably resistant.

Of course, it gets angry and leaves.

You know it shouldn't be driving, but you you're not in a good mood and don't know it too well, so you don't say anything.

You watch it drive off, drunk and upset.

Later you think to yourself:

"Maybe if I had done something, this RP would still be alive today."
