Also for the "finding an image and telling a story about it" that could be a way to do it; what I had more in mind when I suggested the theme was character vingettes of sorts. Like, show us your character's daily life; focus on one specific relationship and show just that relationship through the character's thoughts. It doesn't have to be a complete story; we just want to see, well, a snapshot of your chosen character, or chosen setting. Just one facet of who/what they are.

As per always, whatever your interpretation of "snapshot" is, we count it. I suppose if you wanted to write a hockey story about a guy with a wicked-fast shooting motion he calls 'snapshot,' we'd count that too. "Image into story" is an old favorite of mine, personally, so I certainly wouldn't argue with that!

Would a fantasy or futuristic setting count for the "Snapshot in Time" thing if we try to paint a proper picture (with words or real paint), or should we focus on real-world history?

Sure why not. It was conceived as 'period piece,' which is traditionally past history -- but if you do a good enough job fleshing out the setting, why not future? It's a tall order though. Someone writes anything Victorian and you'll have a hill to climb for that award. But if you wanna try it, go for it!

Art-wise the ball is more in Roman's court. But I imagine the same principles apply.

I might make an attempt at this one, but I can't make guarantees. February was a lighter month for me, but i'm doing a bit more in March.

Still, this seems like a good place to exorcise some of the inspiration built up for recent reading, so energy might overcome time.

This clarifies it for me and now I have an idea for my submission. I had to look up the word vignette first though
I assume expository writing is in this case acceptable.

@CountDracula Well, I say that, but "Objective Midnight" pretty much just means, "if your entry is in before I wake up on April 1st (in gmt-7) then it's accepted."

Unlike the person who runs the other contest, we don't go by the exact time it was uploaded. Just get it in sometime on march 31st your time and it'll be good.
