"Clap clap clap Austria. Tyranny? Or rather as it truly is the territorial concessions, with maybe the exception of Tunis, are all rightful lands of there respective nations! They only say this is tyranny as they are Imperial Overlords who wish to continue to exploit the people of these lands! The people in the lands have been constantly revolting, as they wish to return back to the Kingdoms and Nations to which they truly belong! And what is wrong with the asking that the peoples of one empire gain better status, as they have been exploited so long for merely being of a different religion."

In response to Austrian "reveal", Prussia made the following statement.

"I, Otto von Bismarck, speaking on behalf of the entire Prussian government, vehemently deny these allegations and demand that the Austrian government present proof immediately. From what I saw of this document, it lacked any sort of authenticating marks. If we presented our treaty, why wouldn't we hand it to you already signed by a duly authorized Prussian representative? That fact would compel the Austrians, if they wanted a convincing forgery, to replicate the seal and signature of the King, which they neglected to do. Were there any witnesses? This is a clear forgery and reprehensible propaganda to justify a ridiculous blockade."

An article in a satirical Dutch newspaper reads as follows,

In response to Austria's 'reveal' of what Vienna is now calling the "Eurus Pact", the government of the Netherlands would like to publicly release a document that has been made available to the government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands only a short time ago. The document was spotted in a bottle floating at sea in the Mediterranean by a Dutch merchant vessel, who was able to be in the Mediterranean without issue on account of the fact that the navy of the Ottoman Empire is woefully incompetent, miniscule, and overall completely incapable of enforcing an effective blockade. The contents of the document, which is not stamped or signed by any power, but that the Dutch government somehow believes still displays the tyranny and oppression of the Ottoman and Austrian empires, is thus;

The Agreement of Eurus

Article I: The Kingdom of Prussia, Russian Empire, Kingdom of Italy, Kingdom of Greece and the Kingdom of the Netherlands shall transfer sovereignty of their territory as is prescribed by the following map:



Article II: The Kingdom of the Netherlands shall relinquish all claims to Belgian territory and publically apologise for the murder of Belgian people and the hindrance of their stable growth for many years to come.

Article III. The Kingdom of Prussia shall hereby surrender its status in the German Confederation to the Austrian Empire in perpetuity, including its votes in the Federal Diet, and shall withdraw itself from the German Confederation entirely.

Article IV. The Russian Empire shall hereby endeavour to increase the status of all Muslim peoples living within its borders, and shall guarantee the existing autonomy of all Central Asian Khanates.

Article V. The Kingdom of Prussia shall hereby offer in indemnities £400 to the Ottoman Empire, and the Kingdom of Prussia shall hereby offer in indemnities £800 to the Austrian Empire.

Article VI. The signing parties of this treaty shall hereby enter into a mutual defensive pact, which shall be known as the "Eurus Pact", and shall be respected by all signed parties as an instrument to guarantee peace among the signing powers.

The Ottoman Empire proudly declares that the ridiculous treaty revealed by the Netherlands, which was presented at the Conference of Berlin, was our response to their equally ludicrous proposition, the tyranny of which was unveiled by the Austrian Empire. Our delegate states that he was ‘so busy laughing at Prussia’s demands that I felt obliged to return the favour.’

We do not hide the fact that we wrote it, and we do not hide the fact that we treat it with as much disdain and humour now as when we presented it to the Prussians and their puppets. We hope it will bring as much laughter to the world as it brought to us who wrote it.

"The Government of the of the Ottoman Empire, having violated in the most flagrant manner and in ever increasing measure all rules of neutrality in favor of the adversaries of Prussia and having continually been guilty of the most severe provocations towards Prussia ever since the outbreak of the Belgian war, justifying itself with a misintepretation of a secret treaty, has finally resorted to threats of open military acts of aggression.

The Government of the Ottoman Empire has publicly declared that it would order the Ottoman Navy to prevent access to Prussian ports should its demands be refused.

The Prussian Government therefore establishes the following facts:

Although Prussia on her part has strictly adhered to the rules of international law in her relations with the Ottoman Empire during every period of the present war, the Government of the Ottoman Empire from initial violations of neutrality has finally proceeded to breathe threats of open acts of war against Prussia and perhaps the Zollverein as well. The Government of the Ottoman Empire has thereby virtually created a state of war. It has entirely fabricated a Prussian threat of war to justify its wanton aggression.

The Prussian Government, consequently, discontinues diplomatic relations with the Ottoman Empire and declares that under these circumstances brought about by the Ottomans, Prussia too, as from today, acknowledges and makes official herself the virtual state of war with the Ottoman Empire. May God stand with his Christian soldiers as we march to war.

The Foreign Office of the Kingdom of the Netherlands,

It is for reason of the sovereignty of the Kingdom of the Netherlands being disrespected, defied and impressed upon by the authorities of the Ottoman Empire, that the Kingdom of the Netherlands hereby ends all diplomatic contact with the Ottoman Empire and announces itself to be in a state of open hostilities with all bodies of the Ottoman government. The pompous and unreceptive nature in which Sultan Abdülmecid has conducted his affairs has made war inevitable.

The Kingdom of the Netherlands hereby issues a declaration of war against the Ottoman Empire.

We do not believe a response to the false accusations of Prussia and the Netherlands are necessary, they have proven themselves to be war-mongers with their conquest of Belgium, and a war-monger does not change.

We would like to inform the Netherlands and Prussia that Sultan Abdulmecid, may God rest his soul, has been in his grave for almost a year now. It does not come as a surprise to us and to all civilised, peace loving people that they would claim that even the dead are scheming against them.

The democratic Ottoman Empire, having been given little choice, hereby declares a state of open hostilities with the Kingdom of Prussia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, calling upon our allies the Austrian Empire and the United Principalities to support us in warding off the might of the Satanic Armies.

While issuing a correction to the declaration of war, von Bismarck remarked,
"It stands to reason I would forget the current Ottoman leader's name. I occasionally forget the name of my hound, and I hold him in much higher esteem."

My brothers and sisters, I speak to you today, not as an Emperor or as President but as a shepherd. We find that in these increasingly hostile times, diplomacy has failed, and the tyranny of evil men prevails. Fear not, for this shepherd, a Shepherd of the Lord, will guide the Austrian people and her allies to victory. We will preserve, and we will overcome. Many lives will be lost, fathers, sons, brothers, all left in shallow graves on battlefields across the continent, but worry not, for they too are shepherds, Shepherds of the Lord and Shepherds of the Austrian Empire and the German Confederation. Together, we will march onward to victory and triumph over these evil men.

I read to you one of my favorite passages from the Bible, Ezekiel 25:17:

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who will attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

I ponder sometimes. Are the enemies of Austria the evil men, and is it us who are righteous man? But does that not make the business end of a rifle the shepherd leading the righteous man through the valley of darkness? It cannot be. I cannot accept that a rifle is righteous for it is an instrument, a tool for war. After much contemplation, I have come to believe that it is our enemies are the righteous man, and it is us who are the shepherds. It is the world that is evil, and it is man himself who besets upon him the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.

To the Austrian people, let us be the Shepherds of the Lord and walk through the valley of darkness together, and with the blessings of the Lord, we cast off the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men, liberating the righteous man and restoring peace to the continent.

To our allies, we are your shepherds, and we will guide you to victory. The struggle may be long, and we may find ourselves wishing we had long since capitulated, but remember, you walk with the shepherds, and thus, you walk with the Lord. When the evil men attempt to poison and destroy their brothers, the Lord will strike them down, laying his vengeance upon them.

To the people of the Kingdom of Prussia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, it is with a heavy heart that I issue a formal declaration of war. The men of your country will spill their blood, but worry not. The Empire will shall liberate you from the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. We will shepherd you through the valley of darkness, for we are truly our brother’s keepers and the finder of lost children. Worry not, the Lord will strike vengeance upon the tyrannical governments which seek to oppress you, and though many lives will be lost, goodness will ultimately triumph.

To the people of the German Confederation, we call upon you to rise against the Prussian aggressors. The Kingdom of Prussia has declared war upon the Ottoman Empire, attempting to draw us in so that they may spread their tyranny across Central Europe. My brothers in Bavaria, Baden, Württemberg, and the rest of the German Confederation, rise with us and stave off the Kingdom of Prussia before it shatters the Confederation through bloodshed and violence.

To the Kingdom of Italy, we beseech you to reconsider your alliances. May you find yourself walking alongside the shehpard rather than conspiring with the selfish and the tyrannical.

Your Majesties of the Kingdom of Netherlands and the Kingdom of Prussia, prepare yourselves for war. The vengeance of the Lord will be thorough and absolute!

A Response to William Tecumseh Sherman

The following was an address given in person by Minister-President von Bismarck to the Federal Diet.

"In beginning my remarks calling for immediate mobilization on Austria, I would like to read the following excerpts from the Constitution of our Confederation.

'Article IX. All members of the Confederation pledge themselves to protect Germany as a whole, as well as every single confederated state, against attack, and mutually guarantee their entire possessions, so far as those are included within the Confederation.  When war is once declared on the part of the Confedera­tion no member shall negotiate separately with the enemy, or conclude an armistice or make peace.
 
Article X. The members of the Confederation reserve to themselves the right of forming alliances of all kinds. They pledge themselves, however, to contract no engage­ment which shall be directed against the safety of the Con-federation or that of any individual state within the union.
 
The members of the Confederation pledge themselves likewise not to make war among themselves upon any pre-tense, or to follow up their contentions with force, but to submit these to the Diet. It shall devolve upon this body to attempt arbitration by means of a commission. Should this fail and a judicial decision become necessary, the same shall be effected through a well-organized court of arbitration, to the decision of which the conflicting parties shall forthwith submit."

Both of these articles have been flagrantly violated by Austria, who has the audacity to call on you, my German brothers in a war of Austrian aggression. Because the Austrians have no reason for war. This Constitution supersedes their alliance with the Ottomans, such that the moment Prussia declared war on the Ottomans, the Austrian alliance with them was voided. Therefore Prussia requests under Article 9 that its German brothers help.

I also would like to point out that as Austria has united with the Muslims, it has begun heretically inventing passages of scripture. Ezekiel 25:17 actually reads, and feel free to follow along: 'And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.' Which bears only passing resemblance to Austria's verse. Coincidence? I doubt it."

It is with a heavy heart that I hereby declare war on Prussia, the Netherlands and Greece. They have, in blatant disregard of the people of all nations involved, forsaken peaceful negotiations for war. This is an act which is in itself condemnable. I stand by my Ottoman allies in their time of need as they stand against the aggressors in a conflict which needn't have occurred. To both Prussia and it's cohorts I shall say naught but this, may you soon see the error of your ways.

The United Republic of Great Britain and Ireland watch in horror as the Great Nations of Europe declare war against one another. On one side nations seek to uphold the end of a treaty signed. On the other...Nations respond to a weak threat by escalation. It has indeed escalated quickly. One by one, the Nations of Europe seek to destroy the peace that was upheld at the Treaty of Constantinople. Was it a perfect document? No. It was not. Yet now it seems that the desire for peace has led to a War that will rage across Europe.

The United Republic of Great Britain and Ireland calls for extreme caution and temperance on all sides. We humbly ask these Nations if the death of their men and women is worth this petty greed. We call for all those assembled at the Treaty of Turin to make peace. This War is not a matter of right and wrong. Rather..this is a War of such escalation that it will only determine who is left.

The British hope for a peaceful resolution, but recognize that if such is impossible...we wish God speed to the Ottoman Empire and their Allies. For they are not the aggressors. Good luck.

In light of recent events regarding the release of the full Treaty of Constantinople which was kept from the eyes of all those in Europe with the exception of those few gathered, the Kingdom of Italy does not currently look upon both the Ottoman and Austrian Empires in high regard. These two nations not only sought fit to put the sovereign Kingdom of both Italy and Spain in a sphere of influence under the Austrian Empire, but have engaged in blatant hostility against the Kingdom of Prussia despite its accordance with the Treaty of Constantinople. Furthermore, the Austrian Empire has disregarded the Treaty itself by failing to comply with Article III in which the territory of Veneto is to be transferred to the Kingdom of Italy, an action which was supposed to have been finalized earlier this year. The Austrians however failed to attend our planned meeting to finalize such a treaty and instead sought fit to make fools of Italy.

It is for these reasons that the Kingdom of Italy has no choice but to declare war upon both the Austrian and Ottoman Empires in order to bring all Italian people under the flag of a Kingdom which rightfully represents their will. We hereby call upon our dear friend and ally the Kingdom of Spain to act in accordance with The Mediterranean Pact and join us in our righteous cause to free those prosecuted peoples under the yolk of both these two oppressive Empires.

I hereby declare the full mobilization of the Kingdom of Italy, may God see us triumph.

War has finally broke out in Europe, this war happened because of two nations, that took Belgium. It's sad that war has to happen, but I know that one side will come out as the winners. I hope that God is on both sides of the war and protects its citizens. We would like for Britian to take in refugees, that don't want to deal with the war; just like what I'm doing in the Americas. I hope that God speeds to the battlefields before the enemies do.

While the Kingdom of Spain bemoans the escalation of armed conflict as peace is what a true servant of Jesus Christ strives for we will not besmudge the collective honor of our subjects by abandoning our allies in there time of need. Thusly I issue this declaration of war against the Ottoman and Austrian Empires, their Kingdoms and Subjects to be executed in all my dominions by sea and land. In these times of tribulation I am reminded of a Psalm my late father Ferdinand VII was fond of:

“Keep Thou not silence, O God; hold not Thy peace, and be not still, O God.
For lo, Thine enemies make a tumult, and they that hate Thee have lifted up the head.
They have taken crafty counsel against Thy people, and consulted against Thy hidden ones”

May these words forever ring true.

The Ottoman Empire has ever been welcoming and tolerant of all its subjects and peoples. All Ottomans, no matter their creed, ethnicity or sex, are treated with the respect and dignity they so deserve by the state. Today, as a democracy, all peoples from across the Empire are represented in the General Assembly, and all peoples of all the vilayet elect a vali to best administer each vilayet, meeting the needs of the diverse peoples who inhabit our good nation, all different, but all, undeniably, Ottoman.

Thus it pains us greatly to see nations whose one reason for going to war is greed and an incomprehensibly evil, godless disposition, using the excuse of religion to wage war against us. Not only do they insult us by suggesting we oppress the People of the Book who are to us as brothers and the dearest of compatriots, but they add further pain to this by speaking of our religion of Islam in a way which is utterly reprehensible.

You may insult our navy and our military prowess with taunts, your taunts shall not conquer our lands and defeat our mighty soldiers – mighty with God in their hearts and at their backs – but by insulting the monotheistic faith of Islam you not only insult the Ottoman Empire, you insult the hundreds of millions of Muslims across the world, and the Ottoman Empire, as the recognise Caliphate, cannot allow our faith to be thus slighted.

In response to this clear and open hostility, not just towards the Ottoman Empire, but towards the religion of Islam as a whole, the Ottoman Empire hereby fully mobilises all its forces and declares a Jihad against the tyrannical Empire of the Rus, the arrogant Prussians, the cowardly Kingdom of the Netherlands, the ever-treacherous Kingdom of Greece and the villainous Italians. May Allah, in his glory and might, strengthen the hearts and arms of the believers, and ever-aid our allies Austria and the United Principalities, who are true People of the Book and most deserving of our friendship, loyalty, and blood.

We call upon Muslims everywhere to rise up to defend Muslims and Islam, we call upon the Ummah to unite against all who would seek to destroy it and slur our faith.

A speech by Hakham Bashi (Chief Rabbi) Yakir Gueron, published in newspaper Tercüman-ı Ahvâl:

Today our glorious, democratic Ottoman nation finds itself embroiled in a war to uphold justice and truth in a world over-run by oppression and lies. Today I stand before you, a Jewish rabbi. But I am more than a Jewish rabbi: I am an Ottoman rabbi, and proudly so! My country calls out, my brethren and compatriots, Muslim or Christian, my Ottoman brothers, have today been slighted and are today threatened. We are threatened!

It is our duty, as Ottomans who love this land, it is our duty, who call this nation home, it is our duty, as Jews who fear God and wish to see his justice and his truth everywhere, to stand steadfast by our nation, to fight for our nation, and proudly, gladly, die for our nation and the future of our people.

For centuries the Jews of Europe have been persecuted and killed for no other reason than being Jewish. For centuries we have found that our only refuge from those who would slaughter us has been in the lands of Islam. The day the rule of Islam is weakened in these lands, that is the day that all Jews who are safe here will be engulfed by the demons who in Europe wait.

The Ottoman Empire is our nation and protector, our homeland and upkeeper of truth, and we Ottomans do firmly stand by it, and will do so to the very end.

A letter from Ecumenical Patriarch Joachim II of Constantinople to all Christians in the Empire, published in the same newspaper:

For centuries we have dwelled here. Here, where glorious Rome once ruled, we dwelled, in the Ottoman Empire. Over my life I have heard much talk of a need for Christians to liberate themselves from the oppression of the Muslim Caliphate and establish our own nations and states which can best serve us. I have always been of the opinion that doing so would be catastrophic, and I have always called for patience: for we have lived with our Muslim brethren for centuries, we have flourished here as much, if not more so, than Christians everywhere.

But there is a difference. Because here we have a voice, and here we have rights, and here we have democracy! Rule for the people, by the people, by the permission and blessing of God almighty. Today, we choose our vali, and he serves us and endeavours to create for us the life we wish to lead. One feels great sorrow to think that our brethren in Greece were so quick to declare independence and are today no freer than they were before they gained sovereignty. We, however, are free. No more do autocrats rule over us and dictate to us what we are and what we must be, we choose what we are!

Russia tells us we are oppressed! We reject their attempts to tell us what we are. Greece wants to create a nation for Greeks, no doubt to oppress us under the autocratic rule of another king, we reject their attempts to enslave us. Here, we are free, and for this freedom we shall fight, and for this freedom we shall die if need be.

Ottoman Sultans over the ages have attempted to tell us we are Ottoman, and we rejected that too, we would not be forced! But today, they have created for us a nation to take pride in, a nation which defends justice and truth in the world just as it takes steps to uphold that same justice in the Empire. And it makes me say this: I am an Ottoman, I am a Christian Ottoman, and proudly so! This nation, my Christian brothers, is yours, God has answered our prayers and given us the freedom we all sought after, so who of you would not fight to defend the blessings which the Lord has rained upon him?

Our Christian brothers in Belgium have suffered greatly and have been humiliated, our hearts grieve for their losses, and our blood is hot with anger and fury at those who sow chaos and discord. I am glad that our Christian brothers in Romania and the Austrian Empire have seen reason and fight against the powers of Satan with all their power. To Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria, upon you, your people and all who side with you my blessings. May God strengthen your heart and clear your mind and guide you in your divine mission to enlighten the sheep who stray from the flock. My prayers are with you, and may your victory be swift and mighty.
