Make another forum for those who like to have sexxy time.

I mean, I get it that 1x1 is that pornography magazine that you read and then never read it again. But, I'm here to make a suggestion. It was made by Prince and I'm putting it in the suggestion forum. He said this:

"If I were to make a suggestion here, it would be to draw a definite line for mature content in regular 1x1's and create another forum similar to it for the specific purpose of allowing higher levels of mature content..."

I think it's basic, put the 18+ 1x1 or RPs into another forum. Of course, it will need rules and a warning message. But, in all, I think that this is a good idea.

This idea has been proposed in the past, and it was shot down by mods and admins and normal users alike.

The main reason for this is that if there were any kind of mature section of the site that would almost certainly get Adsense removed, and when the ads are removed that means Mahz has to pay for server upkeep out of pocket or the site goes down due to lack of funds (which happened at the end of last year). The alternative would be to turn to more sleazy ads for porn sites and such, which would be rather bad for a site that has lots of minors.

The presence of minors is another reason why this is a bad idea. There are tons of them around, and we all know that no matter how you try to bar access from them, they'll get through the blockades to get at the smut. Having minors reading smut on this website could make for some bad times, such as angry parents suing Mahz or criminal charges being filed against him for allowing it to happen. That whole legal mess is a large part of why smut is not allowed on the site and is a ban-worthy offense.

And to round it out with a third reason, making a designated smut zone would be encouraging that activity on the site. It would draw more people looking for 18+ roleplaying to the site, which would inevitably bleed out into other parts of the forum and cause issues. There are already tons of forums out there for people who want to go write RP sex with other people, forums that exist solely for that purpose in fact, so there's really no reason to encourage it here.

Oh, also, the reason why Mahz and the moderation staff turns a blind eye to things in 1x1 that are clearly angled at mature things but don't quite cross the line (like interest checks for smutty RP that will be held in PMs, or 1x1 RPs that move toward sex but then move to PMs until it's over) is because that is the happy medium that exists for this site. So long as nothing that Google's bots can see, meaning the stuff outside of PMs, contains objectionable content then the site keeps ads. So long as people just toe the line in public and take their smut to PMs, they don't get banned for violating the rules and endangering the ads. It's a good balance where the mods don't have to watch over 1x1 24/7 and people who want to RP smutty things can still do so. Also, Mahz has said before that a large part of his reason for allowing the smut-leaning interest checks is because there will always be people looking for RP sex on a roleplaying website, and if they couldn't make the interest checks then they'd be sending out tons of blind PMs and that could make for bad times, ie the minors and smut thing mentioned above.

tl;dr it's a bad idea

First off,

Nobody here on this forum needs to go out of their way to cater to smut roleplayers on this site, a site which says such content is against the rules. The fact that they're breaking the rules doesn't mean we should give them a special rule exception zone, it means they should stop breaking the rules and take it elsewhere. They can go to Google and search for 'adult roleplaying forum' and they'll get some relevant results, and they can take their smut there where it's welcome. Making an entirely new website just for Roleplayer Guild smut roleplayers would be a waste of everyone's time. If you think there should be another site for them to do their thing on, fine, it already exists, so just direct them to one of the already existing adult RP forums.

As for banning them all, yeah, that could work, but it would require iron-fisted mod control of 1x1. They could throw up a sticky saying they're cracking down hard, and anyone who wants to roleplay smut can go to a different forum or get banned, then they could start throwing out bans at everyone who even seems to be looking for smut, like the people who post those suggestive but not quite explicit interest checks I mentioned previously. That could work to make it clear smut isn't allowed in 1x1 at all.

It won't happen though. Too much work for the mods, and that happy medium of people just keeping explicit stuff to PMs keeps the ads safe and technically keeps them from violating the site rules, so the mods don't have any incentive to do such a thing.

The only way it would work to have such a section, knowing the above statements, would be to have a separate site using some of the same user database system, but on a different URL, not directly linked to here and not connected to Adsense. We don't know much of anything about the programming level used for the guild, but if it is even possible to code, it will be pretty hard to do, wethinks. And we're honestly not sure whether it'd be worth coding. Whether to do that would be entirely up to Mahz.

There are other sites for erotic roleplaying, I suggest going to one of them if you need a place to...erm...let some steam off. Some people are also a bit shy about mature roleplays in a public area (even with a pw protection) I say keep it in PMs or go elsewhere for adult related fun. I'd rather not risk this site getting shut down for any mature content. *shrugs*

I know a number of friends who are on forums dedicated to 18+ RPs. They warn against any minors joining and even guests can't see into certain subforums without first making an account and reading all of the rules. You're just better off joining one of them. A few of them use forum hosts or RP via Tumblr, so it all depends on you. If you don't want to do that, just stick to the 1x1 section and move the steamy parts to the PM system.

I've always liked when something Smutty is implied, you know the action is taking place, but you don't read all the details. It brings a lot more to the table then describing all the little things and actions one's imagination tends to run wild far more than what can be described. That and you don't have to worry about anyone being banned. I also find it far more tasteful then just writing simply Smut.

So would that be like, two characters entering a room with a bed or something, and then fading to black with "And they went into the sleeping bag together, to enjoy each others warmth through the freezing night." Or something?
