A launch rail would be inefficient and unrealistic.
A series of hangars seem like what would work best.

Hangar door that opens. When you're in space you don't need take off room as there isn't hard gravity pulling you towards the ground.

Petty officers are the three ranks above E-3, they are basically NCOs. There is the E-4 Petty officer third class, E-5 Petty officer second class, and E-6 Petty officer first class. There are of course ranks above that such as the E-7 Chief Petty Officer, E-8 Senior Chief Petty Officer, and E-9 Master Chief Petty Officer. But we are more likely to see quite a few E-1 to E-3 in the med bay with the exception of a couple of squad leader E-4 to E-6s. The E-4s through E-6s are responsible for leading squads in a company while the Chief Petty Officers would be the ones likely to take control of the platoons in the case that their Ensign is not there. But basically the Petty officer classes mean you've been in service for a little while.

The Vigilance can fly in atmosphere. But it would most likely be for an emergency or for a very specific reason. The Vigilance can provide orbital bombardment and support from space, so having it go into an atmosphere to brave weather conditions sounds less than ideal. Greater gravitational pull would mean that the ship would probably have to expend more energy to keep it afloat as well.

Bridge personnel. XO, Operation/missions operator, security chief, would all be good roles for a strategist

Your character would probably work alongside the Captain of the Vigilance, then.

In other news, people who haven't been active need to post so we can start moving along. I plan on getting us into our first engagement very soon here.

Oh, "Bridge Personnel XO" isnt a thing, that was me telling you what you should be... lol

Bridge personnel: such as the (Executive Officer)XO, Operations Operator, or Missions Operator.

But I personally feel the "XO" should probably be an Assistant-GM's role or position.

Well, my character would of study space (navy) strategy and military strategy, but he is great at (navy) strategy. So I could be a XO, if I can't, then I would be Operation/missions operator or security chief.

To be honest you guys, and I'm sorry... But after typing and retyping my intro post, I just couldn't get it up to a level I wanted it to be, and soon I found my interest dwindling. I'm sorry about this, but I think I'm going to drop out of this, even if only until I get my act together. Would it be alright if I keep my spot reserved for a week or so? If not, you can open up my spot for someone else. I just don't want to hold the RP up because of my writer's block.
