What about the name Mohs for the town? It is simple. It is pronounced like Moss which would fit the land around this town and it also it the name of the scale of hardness for Gems.

@RavenTLark Technically, this is still a matter of grammar and spelling. It's just that it's a different language. :p

On that note, please tell me if I royally butcher my English. I'm pretty confident in it, and there isn't much in life I am confident in, but it is still my second language, after all.
