Currently with an Interest Check people have to place their name down, comment, like, etc. to show that they are interested in a particular idea. Would it all be possible to add a "Sign Up" feature to the Check so that once the GM decides to start the OOC he can just click a button and it would notify all the applicants that a Check they signed up to has been progressed to a running RP? This would help keep people in the loop as to when an RP is about to start but doesn't necessarily require them to Subscribe to the Interest Check.

If that's causing too many hoops for people to follow or too many different ways to show that you're interested, could the feature just draw on all the Likes & Comments to generate an automatic list of members that it would notify?

It would also help out when the Interest Check and RP OOC don't match up in names as people may be looking for the particular name in the RP section.

That's an interesting idea, @NuttsnBolts. We at least like it.

Seeing how names often don't match up, perhaps the best way to do it would be to have a function in the edit topic thing where GMs can tie intCk threads to the RP thread?

A notify all players function would be very useful, be it for IntCks or RP happenings in general. Maybe it even could be combined into a sort of player poll function too?

I'm all for this. I've noticed a few times some GMs would have to PM or use the @mention for the stragglers but I can see this method being quite helpful.

I think the idea of an RSVP function would be awesome. Spares people from the only options for withdrawing being 'silence or announcement' while giving the GM a definitive tool that allows them to know how many people are still committed. It might be a functionality we can apply to IC threads as well -- someone can drop out without having to announce it.

maybe such a system could also be visible to others than the GM? That way, a prospective player can quickly look at the list when (s)he's thinking "this looks interesting" and asking himself/herself "Who is in this RP anyways?"

Such a system would need the ability for GMs to remove players too. As sometimes players drop off the guild or get kicked from the RP. neither of which guarantees the quit RP option has been chosen.

From the sounds of it, this would be a connecting piece between several thread elements and future ideas that would help improve usability.

@Ellri With it being visible, would there be a reason for it to not be visible? Only section where I can see that being a contributing factor would be the 1x1 Roleplays where an RSVP function may turn people away due to believing that the opportunity was taken. Still, it could be an optional feature that could be turned on or off through the GM's discretion.

The part where the GM can remove is probably implied in the framework of such a system, since our whole gig with GM powers is to create a system so GM's can run their RP's and employ a toolkit that helps them do so.

I like this idea.

Maybe the simplest implementation would be to add an "I'm Interested" button to interest checks. You get added to the public list of interested users for that interest check. And maybe it can lead to players contacting each other like: "Hey, I saw you were interested in X. Want to start one with me?"

For the interest check creator, I can then create a message box below the list of interested players that lets them send a message to the entire list. It can be used to announce the roleplay created from the interest check and perhaps any future roleplays spawned from it in the future. Though I'm not sure how I want these sorts of messages to piggy-back on top of the current system. For instance I don't think the message box should create a big group convo. Maybe I can introduce a new notification type that encloses the attached message.

Finally, players can see a list of all interest checks they're interested in and remove themselves.

Maybe there's a better idea, but the above is at least doable and not a massive undertaking.
