Holding back on formulating any character opinions for the moment. Waiting for a few scenes where everyone has a chance to mingle for a second. Assay what form of scope and manner of lens Kuro might use to see the others in a more visceral fashion. You can be sure I'll be adding opinions as soon as they've had the opportunity to exchange words.

Feel free to make suggestions, however.

@Terminal Good point. Hmmm...I think Kuro would be one of the few humans Triala is actually afraid of. Besides the Captain and High Lord Howe. He seems like the type, and he'd definitely remind her of the high lord to a certain extent. Anyways, she'd definitely be on her best behavior whenever he was around.

EDIT: Just out of curiosity, what is everyone's process for writing a post? I tend to just write non-stop, even if it doesn't make sense, before going back and editing the crap out of it. Editing is like my drug, though. I tend to edit constantly.

That would explain why your character post always seems to exist in a perpetual state of 'edited 17 minutes ago.'

Mine is a bit more of a process of a deliberation. Piece together a single segment at a time carefully, make sure everything is exactly how I want it before I move on. I may occasionally backtrack in order to change or even remove entire segments to create better narrative flow.

@Terminal Yeah, pretty much lol. Hmmm...your process sounds very meticulous, though I feel like that's not a bad thing. Interesting.

I am aiming to have my introductory post up this evening. Apologies for the delay -- weekends tend to be the busiest time of my week, for some reason.

Alright! Everything looks good so far on my end and we've got a respectable little posting speed as of right now. Which can only mean good things right? And for all you wondering, I have other obligations to take care of (primarily work) that take up a considerable portion of my time but I can comfortable get at least one post to move the story moving forward at least once a week, maybe more depending on how everything is going. Which I feel is respectable and gives people ample time to think of well thought out replies, et cetra. But so far so good. Everybody keep up the good writing!

Oof. Always weird to start writing a new character, isn't it? Logically I know it'll get easier and easier until they just flow from the mind to the keyboard to the forum ... but jeez, it's like blood from a stone that very first time. Or is that just me? Haha.

EDIT: Just out of curiosity, what is everyone's process for writing a post? I tend to just write non-stop, even if it doesn't make sense, before going back and editing the crap out of it. Editing is like my drug, though. I tend to edit constantly.

Our GM here mentioned he'd been doing this for a decade -- I'm in the same boat (I started RPing in 2003), and my process has pretty much boiled down to this: I usually spend a while thinking about all the notes I need to hit in my post, then I just sit down and work it all out in as close to a single session as I can in as close to final order as I can, allowing for things to change and grow as I write. Usually give one or two quick passes for editing so I don't embarrass myself. I never know exactly how a scene will play out until it's done because sometimes my best laid plans don't bear fruit (or, you know, end up being super crappy prose), but I often have a decent idea of what I want to have happen before I try writing it.

I have an idea for another post - albeit a brief one - to fill in the time if necessary. May I proceed, or should I just wait for either the Captain/everyone who is left to post first?

Might be better to wait until everyone gets an intro post up. I think we just need Rockette and vietmyke, right? And thanks for the process replies, folks. :)

EDIT: Also, if anyone wants to use Arno Fossey or Lanriel "Sweetsong" Valtir go for it. They are NPCs for anyone to use.

@Terminal
You may post if you so desire to post. I hold only two rules for double posting in rounds, or whatever you may call posting done between GM posting.
A: Don't post right after you already have posted (this should be very obvious to most of you)
B: Make sure the post does not interrupt the flow of the scene. (Which should go for all posting, but even more here.)

Hey Myke, just saying you may have misread the intro post. Or at least the intention of the post. The Company is not here to open up Orvston for the Imperial Forces. Their mission isn't to help the Vorstagian war effort at all only to investigate the strange happenings in the North, since the Emperor's spies can't make heads or tales of them and that worries him. So they really just want to be able to get through the city and out the other side. That being side Orvston is one of the most heavily defended cities in the Realms as one of the few standing gateways to the North not taken over by the Vorstagians, and so the garrison isn't stupid and wouldn't allow a force the size of the company's through their gates without orders to do so, especially since the Company was last seen heading south into Imperial lands. Because of that they can only suspect that the company is going to try and open the gates open and kill them all or something, when in actuality all they want is passage through the city. xD All the team is doing is going inside to do some convincing to the governing body to let them through so they can continue their real mission and get the main force through without incident. Or well that is at least their intent. Things may go awry from there.

"We need to send a small party - no more than eight or so people - to go and have a quiet, civilized negotiation with the city militia and convince them that we only want to pass through."

"Send the emotional trainwreck of a firestarter, the trigger-happy cutthroat, the unrestrained prankster extraordinaire, some random, newly-joined elf - make sure they are as stuck up as possible - a physically and mentally scarred monster hunter, a dwarven ranger - you never know when beast trapping will come in handy in an urban environment - oh, and the venerable swordmaster veteran."

"That last one was almost sensible, but the rest of that 'lineup' is a rout waiting to happen. Glad I won't be there to see it when the blood starts pouring."

"You're going too."

"WHAT?!?"

I never said that it was a perfect plan. But sometimes you deal with what your given, especially when what you are given is a motley band of heroes with enough issues to keep a entire cadre of therapists busy for the next ten years. lol

@Hexaflexagon I meant to ask you this before but forgot. Are you alright with us doing little snippets of world-building as long as they don't contradict what you've already established? I know some people are rather particular about the settings they create, and I don't want to step on any toes.
