Watching the DCAU is both good and bad; on the one hand, you get to see a cartoon produced by people who genuinely understood the character the characters they were writing for and how they appealed to viewers. On the other, that's actually incredibly rare, particularly when it comes to DC, so be prepared to be disappointed when watching or reading 90% of all other representations of the same characters.

If you're looking for something to read in the same vein, the companion comic for Batman: The Animated Series was actually pretty fantastic, using the same well judged takes on the character that made B:TAS such a runaway success. It's called Gotham Adventures, look it up.

Gah, I am such a comic book snob...

Uhm....lemme check on that I can't remember the full name of the one I'm talkin about

Edit: justice league unlimited
The flash was Wally west and in general the flash and Martian man hunter were the best

DCAU stuff, I've watched it. Thats season 3 of Justice League.

DCAU also had the only instance of main unvierse Superman I liked, because he wasn't a mary su, or didn't feel like one. Was he powerful? Def. But he wasn't a boring Mary Su and felt balanced with his world instead of eclipsing it entirely like almost every other iteration. Sure his personallity was dull, its sorta hard to make his personallity not a brick, but they did the best they could with it.

i definitely liked the leagues personalities in that one the best. They seemed more...realistic.
Though what i noticed most was martian manhunter being one of the strongest somehow being the guy stuck in the watch tower...and used as a nurse XD

My favorite DCAU episode is the time flash and lex swap minds. My favorite character is the question, He inspired me to make a pathfinder inquisitor(D&D Paladin) with a cork-board tower shield.

Yeah, DC is sorta... boring without the DCAU. DC comics are sorta... bad. Well comics in general are bad, but thats beside the point. Reboots piss fans off, but are needed to get new people into them, and even then if someone new doesn't jump in fast, they gotta spend 30+ dollars to catch up. Shows take less effort to absorb, and even then seasons allow you some places to jump in.

At least Marvel makes comics decent to jump into with all its #1s.

I really want this topic to start, but how will it flow? Will the GM need to post to progress the story? And if thats so, they'd need to post very often in order to do so, esp without a co-gm.

funnily i don't read comics...But i will say Deadpool's comics seem the most interesting since they expected it to end at any point...therefore they did whatever they wanted...and also hence the fourth wall breaking...which just makes me happy because deadpool was supposed to disappear but he kept going XD

anyway...I have no idea how it will flow....im just excited to dive into being a pain in the butt character wise XD

also in case you haven't seen this..this is entertaining and what introduced me to deadpool:

Aye, finding that guy allows you to read comic books without reading them imo.

^Seconded. Though honestly depending on how it's set up we may not need tons of input. If we're introduced to each other as members of the same group, then all the GM would need to do is introduce a villain/villains or general antagonists and we could go from there.

Hello! For your approval:

(It's 95% done, I think? Will be adding visual aids soon. Also, not 100% sure how your X-Men will be, but I did notice it's 'Magneto's X-Men', so that probably changes things a bit?? Happy to re-tweak if my backstory doesn't fit. Thanks!)

2 questions:

1) is this still accepting?

2) Is there a Punisher already? And if not, would you allow a cross between the Punisher and a symbiote like Venom/Carnage (unless they're taken as well)?

I guess that's technically 3 questions. The basic idea I'm going for is the traditional Frank Castle backstory, but with the added twist that the symbiote saved him from dying alongside his family. I'll subscribe to this thread and wait for a response.

Yeah, comics in general are bad, particularly now that there is this huge pressure from above for them to sell. DC has gone pretty ballistic with forcing their own artists and writers to produce things at crazy rates and doing things like getting them to redo half of a comic a couple of hours before the deadline. At least Grant Morrison is still prepared to work with them, he's easily one of the best comic books writers working today.

I'm honestly more turned off by the recent Marvel writing from people like Bendis, who seems to just write down a bunch of sad memes and second rate jokes and then call it a comic. Or Slott who... well, I don't even want to relive the whole 'Doctor Octopus is Spiderman' thing, or the level of cringe that was present in pretty much every issue.

Oh well. At least there are still good webcomics out there.

2) Is there a Punisher already? And if not, would you allow a cross between the Punisher and a symbiote like Venom/Carnage (unless they're taken as well)?

1) Yes this is still accepting.

2) There is currently no Punisher and there are currently no symbiote users. Combinations are not really allowed, I think, but as this is supposed to be simply taking the powerset of a particular her and putting a new spin on them, why not simply have Frank Castle be the man who bonded with Carnage or Venom? That way you can still have the idea of butchering criminal scum but also get super powers.

Watch out for the Sentry though, he's got a track record.

@Pumpkinlord Has asked me to Co-GM and as I am accepting, I'll be re-viewing all the SC-es and asking a few things or making requests to smooth things out.

As frank castle has no powers, there is no reason at all to not give him the symbyote. I could easily see him operating like the current 'agent Venom' with Flash Thompson. but there is even precedence for the request:
