@Zetsuko, yes characters can and likely will die. In such instances where a character is in a situation where there's no likely outcome but death, they are permitted to continue as another character if they wish to remain in the topic. Dead characters? Death might not always be so certain, but I would not bank on that sort of situation to occur, if ever. The expectation is that players "own" their fates - getting involved in a mess you shouldn't is seldom the fault of anyone but the players in question.

Abandoned characters, by disappearance of their player, are assimilated under the Game Master and Assistant Game Master's control as any other non-player character. They too can suffer the same fate as a player character if we accidentally put them in a poor spot.

@The Harbinger of Ferocity Hey I am kinda confused with the faction. Do you want us to write why we are the status we are? I thought that was the bio.

@RedNightHunter, you can yes, but if you are placing yourself in a faction, I am explicitly intending on reviewing them. This is mostly to deter everyone from choosing upper echelons of it.

There is no harm in stating why and elaborating later on the reason for one's role.

Name; Sloane
As a young pup she was the first in her litter to open her eyes and taste blood. Sloane means ‘warrior princess or warrior woman” depending on the language. Her three other siblings bonded closely with the humans at the “Animal Research Center” she was at. Due to her hostile nature and keen ability to asses her opponent during mock battle tests she was named Sloane.

Canis lupus bernardi
Bernards Wolf
Due to its colder climates this canine usually was a grey or white.
Rank; Subspecies of Canis Lupis
Height; 1.2m (4 ft)
Length; 1.8m (6 ft)
Weight; 27.3 kg- 50 kg (60-110lbs)

Age; 6 winters

Appearance;
She has a long coat about 8 - 15cm (4- 7 inches) her paws, muzzle and back legs are a dark charcoal. Sloane has a light grey line going all the way down her spine and covering her tail. With a slender frame 36.3 kg (80 lbs), as is common with the females of her kind, she has a long bushy tail. Often her tail fur drags on the ground when she walks. She has a broad face and long muzzle and large ears that perk straight up like a German Shepard Her sides, belly and chest are a pure white. A genetic defect from her family lineage causes her eyes to be a bright aqua blue.
Gender; Female

Classification and Faction; Unaffiliated

Personality;

Sloane has a very easygoing personality, very difficult to rile up but is prone to keeping grudges. Most of the time she prefers the company of other wolves or Kira, a large bird of prey that she has known since puppyhood. Usually very friendly to other predators Sloane sometimes travels with a pack for safety but often leaves quickly due to the oppressive commands of the alpha. As the definition of a free spirit she despises being caged, in any way shape or form. Using her brain to solve things is one of her favorite pastimes. With Kira’s help and her naturally inquisitive mind they can figure out ways to trap large animals quickly without so much risk of injury.

Background;

As the strongest in her litter she was trained from an early age by humans to hunt and survive. Her natural aggression served a purpose and had the humans not gone extinct they would have used her as a Beta test. To see how well wolves can survive in the wild being born in captivity. When she was 3 years of age she finally figured out how to open the lock of her cage. Wasting no time she left immediately running from security guards trying to take her back to her cage. Escaping through a small hole in the fence (as she was much smaller at the time) Sloane came across Kira. Unbeknownst to Kira, a large fox stalked her from the underbrush. Sloane barked a warning as the creature pounced. Together, Kira attacked from the air and Sloane from the ground the fox was chased off. This happened multiple times from different large animals that eventually the two decided to stick together.

@The Harbinger of Ferocity So I've been thinking (and sleeping) on this one idea for a new character... well, TWO ideas actually.

Both will be genetically modified and based off extinct animals, but with a twist. They are both genetically modified HYBRIDS. One will be a pretty crazy but different, the other more traditional to this lore. Let me show you what I'm planning so far for the both:

1). My first choice of a "hybrid" will actually be based off predatory REPTILES instead of mammals. It'll be pretty much based off a genetically modified extinct crocodile, it being a Kaprosuchus ("Boar Croc"), known famously for its long teeth that look like that of a boar. It has been recently stated that it was pretty small, about the size of an average croc, pic down below:

However, before this, and in other popular media, it was shown to have been larger, around half a man's size. So I've decided to make the popular media version by making a hybrid between other animals. These animals include:
  • Boar: Better sense of smell and hearing. Incision increase(?)
  • Megalania: For a larger size, about the size of a Smilodon, if not slightly smaller.
  • Saltwater Crocodile: Agility in water and powerful bite.

He would be created from a lab, perhaps meant for a zoo attraction, but as the humans went extinct, it was able to set itself free from captivity and stalk the surrounding city. It will be highly aggressive and may go on a killing spree, much like the Indominus Rex from Jurassic World.

Now think this is too much? Then I have another more traditional option.

2). My second choice will be a more traditional one, the Sabertooth Wolf (Or Saberwolf). Like the name implies, it will be a hybrid of a smilodon and a dire wolf. This one will also be born in a lab and will have a simillar goal as the first hybrid above (if perhaps a little more tame). It'll probably look something like this:

So basically, you'll be picking at either "Mammal Vs Reptile "Abomination" or simply "Mammal VS Mammal Hybrid".

What do you think of all this?

@RedNightHunter, within the hider is the list of corrections and commentary for the submission.

@Lmpkio, you need add a Classification and Faction still on the approved sheet. "Unaffiliated" is likely the best option for you.

While I find them interesting ideas, @Lmpkio, I find them not among the vein of the story at hand, which is meant to be more akin to a sort of telling of a post apocalyptic setting from the perspective of animals. There are not so many aberrations or monsters, and those that do exist are mostly made up of the myth that surrounds some figures; "people", or in this case animals, are the real horrors here.

From a technical standpoint in the events, most revived species were done so out of human curiosity to make it a possibility; to return extinct species. In a practical sense, mammals are among the easiest to do this with and the most worthwhile in terms of research. Most modified animals to bear near human intelligence were first created to better understand the human mind itself, as well as to push the limits of what genetic engineering could do with little repercussion. In fact, the "mad science" or "military" take on the matter was never well developed and fiercely opposed. Up until the destruction of most modern technologies, it was the greatest challenge to date for human beings, as it begged many questions most felt uncomfortable about.

In the end, while they are interesting ideas, you are in a story that is more Mad Max, The Last of Us, and The Pride of Baghdad than you are in a Fallout type setting.

@The Harbinger of Ferocity So I take it that they shouldn't make it in this RP? That's alright, I still have ideas for animal characters left to spare. Thanks for your input though.

@The Harbinger of Ferocity Alright I had to read over it a few times but I can get my corrected CS up tonight. However, it does happen in the animal kingdom that ravens or crows align themselves with wolves. As they cannot dig into the some of the large carrion before it becomes inedible even for them. Yes, she is a bird of prey however, the principle still can apply because she is similar intelligence to a human. As for the genetic breeding facility what do you mean? Can I just say that she is from the Nomad facility?

@RedNightHunter, the general rule is "if it is not a large predatory mammal" it is not a candidate for sentience. Birds of prey might be intellectual and clever indeed, but canonically even lesser beasts are not nearly as intelligent. While some prey items now have elevated intellect, they are still lacking behind the predators of the new world, and even those beasts are not as intelligent as any remaining human beings; you have many degrees of separation.

It all depends on how you utilize it and create it. If it is just an avian sort that follows her around because of its opportunistic nature, that is acceptable; an effective second character? Not so much an option. The idea is that the focus is on your character and where they fit into the evolving conflict.

Question. Is it possible for intelligent beasts to be clever enough to cattle or 'farm' prey? I imagine prey can be generally scarce with several carnivores going around and probably mauling every one they can get their claws on.

If it isn't fighting that kills them, it's starvation. Plus that would lead to probably more skirmishes.

@The Harbinger of Ferocity If most hybrids or such are based on myth (if by "myth that surrounds some figures" you meant something like mythology) would it be possible for some humans to try and create a Sha? or create a new type of Jackal meant to resemble Anubis?

It depends upon the location, @Silver Fox. There are some locations such as the inner city, outer city and suburbs where prey scarcity is a major factor of the conflict. In further, more distant areas around the city it is mostly untouched and the expansion is in the pursuit there of is a major factor; it is part of why the Crimson Fang is such a menace, in that they blatantly invade the territory of others, and why the Second Sun are so hostile to any predator that enters their territory. In theory, to answer your livestock question, it is possible for them to try to "farm" them, but as of now? There's no such effort.

@Zetsuko, by myth I explicitly mean the perception of supernatural or impossibility based on false information or erroneous reports. The animals of this world live in a time where information is scarce, damaged and mostly lost. Their perceptions lead to why they might believe someone such as one of their leaders could do everything from raising the dead to sorcery. There are no entirely artificial entities created by mankind; even actual hybrids such as a liger or wolfdog are accidents from this period after humans, not intentional design choices.

Sentient mammals were and are as explicitly as exotic as things were before the collapse of civilization, as the morality question ground it to a halt. The de-extinction of mostly Pleistocene animals was just a related event that too halted on moral ground. The creation of chimeric and hybrid animals using these same techniques had no momentum at the time. The vast majority of these projects were purely scientific endeavors and what few militarized sentient animals that existed and were employed were in secret; the events of those very few, very clandestine operations are lost to history.
