@Defacto Her power could use some actual weaknesses. Unless you want to go the lame route and say that she could be killed by other means. lol

Also, I'm a little confused about some of the mechanics of her ability. You say that she can't nullify a group of people, but also say that her power is always on? Does that mean that she constantly weakens Metahumans around herself with little drawbacks?

And how quickly can she weaken an ability? Does the effects immediately take place once someone enters her field, or...?

@Mr Allen J What I'm getting out of it is similar to one of the classes for my tabletop game, the Voidcaster. Essentially, just being near her is like trying to use a radio near a powerful signal jammer. She would have to focus on lowering the field before others near her would be able to use their abilities.

It's up to you, dude. I think it would be difficult to fairly police an ability like that.

Opinions are always great.

My thing is that this power needs to be redefined just a little bit, because constantly weakening every metahuman in the area is kind of ridiculous.

Maybe it's an ability that has to be consciously exerted, or maybe it has a small dome-like area of effect around them, like 5 feet. Or maybe only one person can be negated at a time.

Funny, I was just contemplating Power Negation for a charrie. o-o

@Estylwen Sheet says always active, with the need to consciously lower it. Range the size of a theater.

The problem I see is not the power itself; like I said, I have it in my tabletop system. It's the fact that, without a system in place (i.e. forum play), there are no power levels, no ratings, no difficulty checks...no way to determine how much it works, and when, and on whom. Power Negation is something I've had to deal with in other roleplays, and it always ends up on the no-go list for that very reason. Basically, you go anywhere near this character, you're a normal human.

While I would love to see The Black Hound suddenly find himself vulnerable to attack, I'm not sure there's a way to make that ability fair.

And also there's the problem of how would it work for, say, bestial metahumans. If my character Rori went in it would they lose, say, their wings and not get them back when they came out of the zone? That kind of thing is ddifficult to figure out for those whose power is an actual physical change of their body.

I mean I have an NPC (who I need to repost) with power negation but he has to touch them for like an hour to negate a power for a week, if not less xP (also he's an NPC)

I'm fine with power negation, long as it's written reasonably with limits and drawbacks (same with most powers). It's just that a power negating field that's constantly active the size of a movie theater is a bit much. Reducing the range is a start, and defining it better, would be a start.

Some two-cents:

As Fern has stated about negating powers of bestial types, how would the negation work? Just enough not to allow Rori to transform completely into a bird, or it's actually possible to reverse her back to human physiology?

Can powerful metas resist the negation? Like instead of completely switch off their powers, just enough to weaken them/prevent them from using their best moves? Will the others be able to resist the negation through, say, willpower? If we go with @BlessedWrath's analogy of radio signals, there are still some ways to overcome jamming - it's not a foolproof thing.

@Mr Allen J NST and I are set up to discuss Veronica's blackbag operation. I was talking to him earlier, and there might be potential for Ellen to get mixed up in that. For my money, I think a collaboration between the three of us might work out the best. That way, we're all available to answer questions that arise, and get things handled without a lot of one-liner posts and filler.

I'm not sure when you guys will be available to do that, but my schedule is pretty open right now. NST is across the pond, so I have to get in before late afternoon if I want him to be awake.

Let me know what you want to do. I like the development so far, between Ellen and Sam. It's gonna be kinda stressful on them, having just made friends and then torn apart in the same day. I don't know what it is about my characters and I, but I apparently love taking them down the rockiest roads I can find.

Poor Sam.

@BlessedWrath Yeah, let's totes do a collab. Veronica's probably going to use her goons to corner them, then "offer" Sam a position within the FF (and all the rewards of villainy). Whether or not you want her to be recruited or not is honestly up to you (I just want more Veronica antagonism).

I figured on letting the story unfold however it will. Sam's been a great success for me in other roleplays, and I think it's because I refuse to make any pre-determined outcomes for her. Plans fail. When you're able to go with the flow, it's a lot easier to make things work.

I will say this, though: Whether they're able to take her down or not, she's going to at least take one or two of them with her. Unless they're all supers, in which case I have no idea what will happen.

Well, the FF has the potential to create an army of Metahumans, but after the Verthaven Disaster, they aren't risking it (and it's going to hard to control such an army with money alone lol).

@Mr Allen J, I ended up reworking the power completely. It seemed easier than try to tweak her original (and background was changed to fit).

Power Class:
Super-System—Bestial

Power:
Hellhound Physiology
Samina Malbari is able to shift into a hellhound-like bestial form. Just like in folklore, her beast form resembles a black wolf, mangled black fur, glowing red eyes and strength. The creature is 33 inches (85 cm) tall at the shoulder and immune to fire—its tissues won't be damaged by fire or high temperature.

Limits:
Samina's senses, agility and strenght in hellhound transformation are on par with adult wolf’s.

Weaknesses/Drawbacks:
The longer she remains in hellhound form, the less human she becomes and her transformation is connected with her subconscious. When hurt or angered to an extreme (or any mental outbreak) she loses control and the hellhound overcomes her.
