I'm not sure who this Bucky-Bananabread-Bear-Barnes is... but I'm sure keeping Winter Soldier would be fine. I only really suggested letting characters go unless its just a "I refuse to let (insert person here) go because I hearts them and love them forever and ever more!" situation.

@DrewVonAwesome Perhaps, I'm kinda wanting to go with y'know Speedster related stuff...

But yeah I mean having an incident prior to the IC such as the Battle of New York, Mutant Registration, Hulk Rampage, S.H.I.E.L.D coming out of the shadows or just anything like that I think would give people a good thing to build their sheets on, and then the universe.

You know there is a certain Eastern European with white hair who would be pretty darn fitting to your ideals... you could almost say you wouldn't even see him coming!

Yeah I like Sep's idea of a previous event kicking things off or something. Battle of New York could work, especially the death of Iron Man. Could lead to an interesting event in the future when he makes some grand return. Just a stupid idea :P

@DrewVonAwesome It's a possible, but there's other possibilities I could go with depending on how @Dedonus structures the timeline.

Also, I forsee you working on a Spider-man app the second the OOC goes up to try and beat Ded :P

Well even if he doesn't come back, I like the idea of a pre-established top tier hero going six feet under before the IC kicks off just to rock the universe a little bit. Hell I'm willing to sacrifice Hulk... to be sent to Sakaar so I can finally do that story.

Yeah yeah I'd be up for that! Such a death could be the inspiration that some newer heroes needed, etc.

I've been looking forward to you eventually doing Planet Hulk when you mentioned it ages ago!

@Natty depending on what Ded does I could totally go for doing it, depending on how the Universe has been set up beforehand.

Also there are OTHER options, not many but they exist. Little tweaking here and there.

1) Heroes have been in the public light for a decade max. Your character can be a newcomer to the heroics/villainy scene or a seasoned veteran (or anywhere in between).

2) The idea of mutants is common scientific knowledge. What are human-mutants relations like at the moment? How did "mutant-kind" come into being?

3) S.H.I.E.L.D. is an active spy organization that monitors superhuman activity. Will they work from the shadows or will they be more public about their actions?

4) A group of heroes have relatively recently banded together to stop a threat that no single hero could handle. What threat did they face? Who is part of this team? What are they called (Avengers, Defenders, Ultimates, etc.), is up to you.

I guess the real question should be what type of world do we want to play in. Do we want something like the Ultimate Universe or the MCU where superhumans are only a recent phenomena or do we want something more like the mainstream comics where superheroes are "normal".

Characters working in the shadows or mutants (since they gain their powers around puberty) could be given more leniency. My one goal was to make sure that the characters are at different points of their careers. We don't all have a much of "Year One" characters or such. Gives a little more variety.

1) I agree with Sep, there should be small random occurrences of superheroes (Cap in the 40's, maybe like Tony Stark's grandpa as an earlier Iron Man in the 60's as an example, so on and so forth). But now its really starting to pick up very notably.

2) If we're going to make this modern lets just play off of the current stuff involving the LGBT/Minorities in the US and world, mutants have recently been able to be given rights and its a pretty even keel of opinion of them. Some think mutants are okay or even great, others think mutants are abominations and should be destroyed. Meanwhile there are other countries where mutants are just straight up executed if found.

3) We can start them as shadow, but when whatever big first story hits they're forced to become public leading to issues. That or just keep them shadow based but work with the heroes as sort of a hidden police of superheroes.

4) I would say lets go simple, Skrulls invaded, Avengers were formed by SHIELD though shown as more a UN creation.
