Already a month into school of his sixth year, and Logan Hillstead has already given up doing his homework, for the most part. Logan has always been the type of guy to do just enough homework to get by without failing. Ironically though, he could complete every assignment and get full marks because Logan has always had the ability to understand everything going on around him. He mastered charms faster than most of his classmates, he never failed a potion in class (well that is if he even completes it) and he could transfigure any object he wanted. Yet, his effort is barely above 50%.

Logan never understood the point of school and why it was necessary. To him, the real world is the best place to learn. Whenever Logan is home for his summer breaks, he is practicing magic non-stop, disregarding the underage wizarding law. He knew how much he could get away with, without raising suspicion from the Ministry. And he always did it in secret. That was Logan’s problem with school, the fact that it was all just a contest and a way to showcase how awesome, or awful, you are. Why do we need to be put on a pedestal, especially at these fragile young ages?

Due to his lack of effort in classes, that has translated to a very lonely existence for Logan here at Hogwarts. He can count the number of friends he has on one hand. It never has really bothered him. Being an only child, to very recluse parents, Logan grew up alone and learned at a young age how to entertain himself. Books. Yes, Logan Hillstead was the Hermione Granger of his time, to some extent. He was not bouncing around ready to save the world at the drop of a pin. But to him, books were salvation. They were his escape and his resource to all the knowledge he needed. Logan has learned more from reading a book than he has listening to any of his professors in class. Screw society , even the magical society, drilling into kids’ heads how they must learn and be in class in order to succeed.

It was the end of the day, dinner finishing up. Logan technically had an essay due for History of Magic tomorrow, which he hasn’t started. He figured he could jot down something quick, at least to keep Professor Binns off his ass. That ghost seriously annoys him like no other teacher.

Standing from the Slytherin table in the Great Hall, Logan threw his bag over his shoulder. He had sat alone while eating his stew, but no one noticed. They were use to it. Even his few friends rarely ate with him. Logan tends to only want to socialize on the weekends. He is just an outcast and that is how he likes it. He makes his way up to his favorite place: the library. It was quiet and secluded, his two favorite things.

Making his way towards the back, where the books on shelves are covered in dusts and cobwebs, Logan finds his favorite chair and plops down. He pulls out his blank scroll, ink and quill. Time to bullshit his way through another essay.

Jason sighed to himself as he walked through the dusty halls of the castle. He always loved walking through the storied halls of Hogwarts. It was unusual for Jason to be walking all by himself. Being the captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team usually meant that he had someone following after him. It got annoying when you had to slink away from the watchful eyes of his house. There also was the issue that they were in the running for the Inter-House Quidditch Cup. Even though it was only the first week of term, everyone seemed to think that Gryffindor team was going to win. Professor Longbottom had been dropping not too subtle hints about tryouts. He had already given Jason a list of possible candidates for the team. He still needed two beaters and a new seeker. It seemed that everyone in the house had an idea as to who should be on the team and they saw it as their duty to inform Jason. Even if he did not want or need their help in this matter.

With all of his focus on the team, he did not have all the time he needed for his class work. Course even when he was focusing on his work, he was not all that good with school. He was decent at Defense against the Dark Arts and Herbology. However, everything else was a complete blank for him. That was one of the issues he was facing tonight. Earlier in the week, he had been assigned a project for Defense against the Dark Arts. He still had no idea what it was but he knew who his partner was. He had been assigned to work with some Slytherin named Logan or something.

The guy looked familiar he thought as he followed the other person into the library. He usually was not the type to stalk someone but he was desperate. This project was a large part of their grade for the term. When the other man sat down, Jason flopped down onto a chair opposite from him.

"So apparently we are partners or something?" He said not even saying hello. He was never one for decorum. He was not being quiet at all. "We should get started on whatever it is sooner rather then later..." He said still talking rather loud.

Logan sat there, racking his brain about what Professor Binns said the essay should be on. See the problem was, Logan never took a single note in any of his classes. It just adds to his belief learning from a teacher in a classroom is pointless. If Logan finds what the teacher is saying to be actually be worthwhile, which is usually a title of a certain book that the students aren’t studying from at the moment, he will just remember it in his head. His memory is very strong, which is why Logan is very smart; he can remember facts from almost every book he has ever read.

But remembering what subject he is suppose to be writing about is not something he believed to be important enough to save in his memory to recall at a later time. So here he sits, starting from scratch. Maybe I’ll just make up something, he thought to himself. However, before he could get any further into his plan of bullshitting his way through the essay, there was a loud voice suddenly next to him.

Being a loner and not socializing often, Logan has a very quiet nature about him. There aren’t many people who actually know what his voice sounds like, and that is fine with him. His quiet behavior has made him a creature of silence, wanting silence from his surroundings and fellow strangers. So when a loud-mouth asshole sits down and is practically screaming at him, he is instantly pissed off.

Looking up from his blank scroll, Logan’s eyes land on a boy. He had no idea who he was, but he seemed familiar enough that Logan didn’t need to worry he was some crazy outsider who came into the castle to kill him. He saw the boy was wearing a loosened gold and red tie around his next, which meant he was a Gryffindor. This kid has probably been in multiple classes with him, but like the other 99% of the student population, Logan had no clue what his name was.

Logan heard the kid talk about a project and partners and Logan stared at him as if he grew a second head. Again, the whole not listening in class thing has once again proved effective. Logan had absolutely no idea what this kid was talking about.

“What the hell are you talking about?” Logan asked, a little more snappy than his normal demeanor.

Logan isn’t a mean guy, he is just specific about the type of people he surrounds himself with. And if you are lucky enough to be graced by Logan’s presence, he can be pretty sweet. But to his annoying, extremely loud person sitting next to him, his fuse was short. He just wanted his quiet back so he could do his History of Magic essay, then read until the late hours of the night.

Jason looked over at other young man. Jay was nothing if not loud. He did not really know how to be quiet. He had spent years in a family of three older brothers. One did not learn how to quiet with that many siblings. It was hard to do anything quiet. So he was unafraid to just wander up to random people and chat them up. He just did not know a different way to talk to someone new.

He had seen the other student in a few of his classes. They had never spoken to one another before and yet he did seem familiar. That did not matter right now. He did need all the help he could get for this project. That meant that he had to play nice with the guy.

"Well hello to you too. We are partners for that D.A.D project. We need to make some sort of report about...werewolves?" He said clearly guessing. He had no idea what the project was about. He had been to busy trying to throw paper airplanes at his friend. "I'm Jason by the way." He said looking around. "We need to research something or another." He continued. "What's your name again? " He asked not being as loud as before. The librarian glared at him and now he quieted down.

This kid was so annoyingly loud that Madam Pince actually came over and shushed them. Logan has never been shushed his entire life. If this continued, Logan may actually slap whoever this person was sitting next to him. The library is his salvation, the thought of it being ruined by a stranger is not something Logan is ok with.

We are partners for that D.A.D project. We need to make some sort of report about...werewolves?

Logan racked his brain, trying to remember what happened today in Defense Against the Dark Arts. Professor Moody, one of the few professors Logan pays attention to on occasion, always had the best advice for books that include information that he was “not allowed” to cover in class. Of course, majority of those books were in the Restricted section, but Logan had his ways to gain access to them. Logan also liked Moody the best because he didn’t bullshit the kids. He gave it to them straight and honestly. He covered stuff that past professors would never dare to. At least that is what Logan has heard, since they have had Moody since first year.

Logan looked at the boy, whose name he just discovered was Jason, like he was crazy.

“We covered werewolves in third year.” He said. Logan may have no paid attention in class, but he recalls enough information to remember what has and has not been covered. And werewolves were covered years ago. Logan vaguely remembers learning special binding curses that are stronger and can hold a werewolf immobile long enough to escape. Logan mastered it first in class, but no one would know since he didn’t brag or show off about it. And he could perform the spell perfectly today, if he needed to.

Logan continued to try and rack his brain. Today in Defense Against the Dark Arts, he vaguely remember Moody being in a bad mood. He may not know what the professor is saying, but his ears still pick up the general tone of their voices. And today, Moody was definitely pissed off. Probably some rambunctious kids throwing paper airplanes or exploding snaps. Logan never cared enough to give those types of students any of his attention. To him, they emphasize all that is wrong with the educational system.

A pissed off Moody would do something cruel, like assigning a project and pairing people together without letting them choose. So sure, he could believe that his jockhead sitting next to him was his partner. But what the hell was their assignment? What had they been covering in class.

Then something popped into his mind. Moody bringing up the Battle of Hogwarts. Since the Battle was only five years ago, and still very fresh in everyone’s minds, not many professors like bringing it up. Most want to move on and forget it and have a fresh start. Not Moody, he wants the students to learn from it, be prepared. Like he always says, “War will happen again.” So the past few weeks, Moody has been teaching them how to defend themselves in real-life situations. Not just in make-believe worlds, but when they step off the grounds of the school. And just like that, Logan had a flash of Moody at the end of class today and he remembered the project.

Letting out a sigh, he looked at Jason. “We are suppose to create five real-life scenarios where we would have to defend ourself. We have to write a detailed description of each scenario, then enact them in front of the class, taking turns attacking and defending one another…..oh and I’m Logan.”

Logan was not happy. This was his least favorite kind of project. A performance. Why is this necessary? And his partner was a meathead who apparently has no sense of control in his voice. No way this would end well.

Jason looked at the man like he was insane. He was definitely sure that it was werewolves. Then he remembered that they had already done this. That had been years ago and he was pretty sure that Logan had been in his class for that. "Oh right... We did do that years ago didn't we?" He said scratching the back of his head. He was not doing too good right now trying to convince Logan that he was a normal guy. So far he had managed to show him that he was a complete idiot.

"Well... I thought it was werewolves." He said to try and defend his own stupidity. He had a lot of things on his mind, Quidditch was taking precedence right now. He had to focus on beating the other teams or people would start talking.

At least his partner knew what he was doing. Sure he was a terrible green snake and Jay did hate them. It seemed that dear old Mad Eye still had a wicked sense of humor placing them together.

"Well the performance part will be easy! It is just a big show. Heck I could do that part in my sleep. If I can keep a Quidditch team going, I can get us through a show. I am just really bad at the whole writing part." He added sheepishly. He looked at Logan. "How many classes have we had together? You look familiar." He mused softly.

Logan was not at all surprised when Jason said he thought for sure it was werewolves. Of course you did moron , Logan thought to himself. Logan has a very low tolerance for stupidity; while being smart comes naturally to him, Logan is always thriving to learn more, so he still puts forth effort in that sense. He reads daily, he tries to learn something new everyday, even if it is a new word in the dictionary. People like Jason irk him. Why can't they just understand things? Just try a little harder? It was taking all of Logan's effort now to roll his eyes at this kid. This project was going to be a trip to hell and back... or so it seems.

When Jason said he could handle the show, because of his experience with Quidditch, it was like a light bulb went off in Logan's head. His assumptions were right, this kid was a jockhead. He has probably had one too many bludgers to his head, making him even more of an idiot than he probably was. Logan would have never known Jason played Quidditch because Logan has never gone to a single match. To make a long story short, organized sports were worse than organized education. It was like class with learning taken away. It was a way for neanderthals to showcase their ability to act like morons and get bloody noses in the process.

When Jason asked how many classes they've had together, Logan couldn't hold it back anymore. He rolled his eyes.

"Well seeing as how we are in the same year, pretty much any class that Gryffindors and Slytherins have had together, we have had together."

It wasn't that hard to figure out. Could Logan tell you exactly how many classes and which specific classes those were? Hell no. He didn't pay attention to who was in class, but he was wise enough to know he's had at least 2-3 classes every year with Slytherins, so figure around 10-12 total. Apparently basic math isn't something Jason has mastered either, just like being quiet.

"Look this project is bullshit, and Moody just assigned it to be an asshole. Just tell me five spells you are good at doing and I'll write something up and be done with it."

Logan wanted this interaction with Jason over as soon as possible. He wanted his peace and quiet back, presently and the future. He didn't care how much he would like to look at Jason, the other boy's qualities ruin his appreciation for the boy's looks. Yes, Logan was gay. He didn't deny it, nor did he broadcast it. In fact, not a single person knows, not even his parents. Some may suspect it, and if they were to ask Logan straight forward if he was, he would not lie, but he wasn't about to go telling the world. To him, attraction went beyond gender, but he did find himself always more aroused by the male population. Has he ever had an sexual experience? No. Being quiet and a loner doesn't exactly create a romantic life, but Logan hasn't really minded. He is a gay virgin, who has only ever kissed a handful of people in the few games of Truth or Dare he has been forced into playing in the Slytherin common room.

Jay could almost sense the anger and hatred coming off this guy. All he did was walk up to him and talk. It was not as if he had started to insult the Slytherin. He was being rather nice with guy. He practically being intelligent right now. He did not want this guy to wring his neck just for saying hello or asking him to do the project.

Jay was rather proud of his Quidditch skill. He came from a family of chasers. His brothers had all been chasers on the Gryffindor team and had used their little brother as their keeper. Thus, Jason became a decent keeper. He thought that Quidditch was one of the best things he did at the school. It showed skill and was a good way to get rid of anger. Still it was not easy to run a team while also doing his thing for school.

Jason did not catch his anger or sass. He just nodded.

"It is not my fault that you do not make much of a mark, Logan. You never talk so I did not see you." He admitted with a shrug. He was not saying it to mean. It was just a fact.

"The project is not bullshit! We are not just gonna wing this, Logan. We are gonna do this for real. With real spells and stuff. I am rather fond of the Bat-Bogey Hex. We would of course need the Shield Charm. " He said showing a bit of intelligence when it came to spells. It was one of his few good abilities. "We need to show off to Moody to keep him off our backs."

He gave Logan a bit of a smirk. He was not terrible on the eyes. Jason was openly gay. Everyone knew it and no one seemed to care. It helped that he was a decent athlete. It helped to keep the insults away. "So we are doing this for real or I am not leaving. Just do it my way and we will get a good mark!" He said sounding almost excited

"It is not my fault that you do not make much of a mark, Logan. You never talk so I did not see you."

Most people probably would have taken offense to that, but to Logan it meant nothing. He knew he was invisible to most people and majority of the time, he liked it that way. It meant his quiet world stayed quiet. So he made no remark back to Jason’s statement.

"The project is not bullshit! We are not just gonna wing this, Logan. We are gonna do this for real. With real spells and stuff. I am rather fond of the Bat-Bogey Hex. We would of course need the Shield Charm. "

Logan really tried to resist, but he couldn’t help the little chuckle that escaped his lips after Jason make that remark. For a brief moment, Logan actually pitied this kid and felt bad for him. Was he really that stupid? Or was his common sense just lacking? Logan hoped for the boy’s sake it was the latter. It can’t be easy going through life that dumb. Knowledge is one thing, “street smarts” or common sense is different. Logan likes to believe he has a good balance between the both, but he isn’t quite sure about Jason.

“Do you really think Moody is looking for a bat-bogey hex?”

Even Logan, the least likely to ever participate in class, knows enough about Moody to know he is looking for some dark stuff to happen- like almost on par with Unforgivables. As much as Logan wanted Jason to accept his offer of getting this over and done with, Logan had a hunch if he didn’t give into the boy’s demands of really trying, he would never get his peace and quiet back.

“Fine. If we are going to really do this, we are going all out. None of the pussy 1st year spells. I am talking like expluso and stupefy. If I am going to do this, I am doing it right.”

He hated that he was about to put more effort into a project than he ever has, but at least he gets to look at something pretty while he was. Even now, Logan making eye contact for the first time with Jason, couldn’t deny his handsome features. He suddenly was curious how soft the boy’s hair was, because it definitely looked soft. That thought quickly disappeared from his mind when he thought remembered how loud Jason was.

Jay looked at the other student and glared at him. He did not think that his giggle had been entirely polite. He had figured that the professor did not want them to be killing each other. There had to be a better way to do the project. He got the feeling that the other person wanted him dead. Using spells like Expluso or something. He did not want to get his head blown off for some insane project since Moody was having another bad day.

"What?! We are not going to be using the Bat Bogey hex? I love that spell." He said sadly. It was clear that he was joking but the whole idea of using deadly spells bothered him.

"I get the feeling that you want me dead. Expluso is quite dangerous. What if you miss or hit me?" He asked clearly meaning it. He could not understand if Logan wanted him dead. "What is next? Bombarda? Or maybe we should break out the deadly stuff..." He complained as he watched the other man. He was not that bad on the eyes. If only he was not so mean and prickly.

"Didn't you say you did not want to do this? Now you want to do it? I am confused..." He said looking around the library. "We could work on it somewhere else. I mean we can't do magic here in the library." He said as if that was something he had just come up with. He seemed almost pleased with himself.

Logan really hoped he was right when he assumed Jason was joking about being sad that he couldn't do the Bat Bogey hex. If he wasn’t joking that would be very silly, but Logan held his tongue. Logan wasn’t trying to be mean, but this kid seriously pushed his buttons. But other than disturbing his quiet, has Jason really done anything that permits Logan to be such an asshole? He supposed not, so he took a mental deep breath-in and tried to relax.

Jason’s next comment actually did hit a sore spot with Logan. Being a Slytherin, especially after the war, has been tough. It is automatically assumed that your family supported Voldemort and most likely your parents were Death Eaters. However, that was far from the case for Logan and his family. Despite being purebloods and coming from a long line of them, the Hillsteads always felt that you should treat everyone equally, no matter their bloodline, race, gender and social status. Because of that they were very much against Voldemort, but Hillsteads also have a bad quality, the ability to not care enough. Logan’s demeanor wasn’t just randomly brought on, he observed his parents who act very similarly. So when the war started, the Hillsteads took a back seat, like they always have.

Jason thinking he wanted to kill him though, that hurt. Did he really seem like that awful of a person?

“No… I don’t want to kill you. I don’t want to kill anyone. I just know Moody would tease the crap out of us if we did the more user-friendly spells. And I don’t know about you, I do not feel like being mocked in front of the entire class.” Logan did his best to speak in his softer voice, trying hard not to give Jason even more reasons to hate him. Logan may not care what people think of him majority of the time, but he definitely didn’t want to be hated by someone who barely knows him.

“Look, if it makes you feel better, you can cast the spells on me and I will use the shield charm.”

Logan was 100% sure his shield charm would protect him. He mastered it in his first year.

“Well you said yourself, you wouldn’t leave until we got started, so what else am I supposed to do, just ignore you forever? I am not a jerk.”

Logan didn’t know why his desire to right Jason’s first impressions about himself were so important, but at the moment, he did want a fresh start. They were partnered together and he couldn’t change that. And while he may not care about homework and classes, Jason must, and it wouldn’t be fair to just fuck the guy over because he was a lazy ass.

Nodding his head, Logan turned and started to pack up his stuff. He knew Madam Pince would not allow any magic, other than an occasional Lumos, to be performed in the library.

“Ya we can go somewhere else. Did you have any suggestions?”

Logan didn’t go to many places in the castle. He basically stuck to his dorm, library, classroom and the Great hall. He had a hunch Jason would not want to go back to the Slytherin dorm, and Logan was not too keen going into the Lion’s den. And they definitely couldn’t go into the Great hall. Maybe an empty classroom or somewhere outside.

Jason's family had been Gryffindors since the house had been founded. Family legend said that their ancestor had been one of the first students chosen by the founder. Occasionally one of them would be in a different house, like how two of his brothers had been in Ravenclaw. Still there was a precedent that most of the family were lions. It led to very high pressure to succeed.

He didn't think that Logan wanted him dead, he just thought that the guy hated him. Most people did not like his brash attitude it seemed.

"We have to do both. I mean you have to throw the spells and I also have to defend. " He said remembering a little of what Mad-Eye had said earlier.

Jason looked around the library and thought for a second. He did not know where he wanted to do this practice. Then he got a great idea. Well a good idea for him.

"We can go to the Quidditch Pitch! It's wide open and nobody will be there! It's one of the best places in the school. " He said as he grabbed Logan's sleeve and started to drag him out of the library with all his stuff.

"Come on!" He said cheerfully as they walked. He let go of his arm to look back at him. "Ever been to a match there? It's great! The roar of the crowd is amazing!" He said still oddly happy.

Logan couldn’t recall Moody saying exactly how the spells were supposed to be dished out, but then again, he was surprised he managed to remember the project at all. And clearly Jason was remembering things, which was a plus and maybe meant he wasn’t a complete airhead. Perhaps Jason and Logan were more alike than they both realize and willing to admit. They both seemed to find classes pointless, maybe for different reasons, but who cared. Obviously their differences outnumbered the similarities. Their physical appearances being the obvious difference. Logan was short, scrawny, was pale skinned and had wavy, long jet-black hair. Whereas Jason, was tall, tan, muscular with perfect brown hair that created the perfect wave on top of his head. Not too mention gorgeous eyes. Jason was handsome without a doubt.

Hearing Jason suggest the Quidditch pitch, Logan inwardly cringed. Of all the places in Hogwarts that Logan avoids, it is the Quidditch pitch. In fact, the only time he has ever been on it was when they took flying lessons first year. Logan couldn’t even get his broom to go “up!” He knew right away he would never fly, and he was completely fine with that. But Quidditch meant fans, and fans screamed and were loud, everything Logan does not enjoy. But maybe if it was empty, it wouldn’t be so bad.

Without even being able to answer, Jason pulled Logan from his seat. Logan barely had time to grab his bag as he was being dragged out. Logan would have been more annoyed if he hadn’t gotten everything packed up, but there was a brief moment of amusement in his eyes. Jason’s excitement was contagious, and Logan was unsure how he felt about it. It wasn’t that Logan wants to be miserable, and for the most part he is content with life, but expressing emotions was not something Logan has mastered.

Walking along through the corridors, Logan having to walk rather quickly to keep up, he heard Jason ask if he’s ever been to a match. Logan wasn’t going to lie, so he said “Nope, never been to one.”

To him it was no big deal. Again, he had absolutely no desire to go. They reached the entrance to the outdoor courtyard and stepped outside. It was a beautiful fall day. Not too hot, not too cold. And the leaves on the trees were beginning to change colors. This was Logan’s favorite time of the year. He loved it so much that sometimes he would choose to read outside instead of the library, assuming of course, he found a quiet spot to do so.

Jason looked back at Logan as he basically ran out of the castle with the other man behind him. There was nowhere Jason liked more then the Quidditch pitch. He had lived the place before he had ever gotten to the castle. His brothers had told stories about it. Jason always loved the scream of the crowd. It was oddly comforting.

He had expected that the entire school had been to at least one match. It always seemed that Gyrffindor house all came to cheer their team. It was an amazing feeling to have that many people cheering for you. He was surprised that Logan had never been to a single match. He gave the other student a sideways look.

"Really? You've never been! That's insane. I thought everyone went to the games..." He mused as they walked outside. "So you've never seen Slytherin lose to my house?" He teased as they finally reached the pitch. "You have to go to one! I mean the season opener is in a month when Gryffindor is going to smash your house. If I can find a team..." He said quietly. "I mean I don't even have a full team right now. I've got a seeker and a keeper. So basically I have one other person besides me. " He said clearly just thinking out loud.

"Alright, so what spells do you want to use? Nothing too deadly since I don't want to lose my arm before the season starts. "He joked clearly not meaning it. "You should come to the first match! It will be fun!" He said losing track of the project again. He was clearly more excited for Quidditch.

Logan chuckled to himself as Jason went on and on about Quidditch. Logan never understood the fascination with sports, but Jason seemed fully passionate about it. Even if Logan thought being a jock meant being a meathead, it may actually not always be the case. The way Adam spoke about it, for a brief moment, Logan was actually curious. However not curious enough to torture himself with the screams of the crowd.

Once they reached the pitch, Logan dropped his bag onto the grass and looked around. It was definitely bigger than he remembered. He sort of remembers the basic rules of the game, like how the Quaffle has to go through the hoops on both ends of the pitch, but for the more intricate details of the game, Logan wouldn’t know his right from his left.

When Jason basically bashed the Slytherin team, Logan didn’t mind. He wasn’t exactly the typical student with house pride. I mean, he could care less if they won a Quidditch match or the House cup at the end of term. Honestly, he didn’t see the point of being sorted into houses. It just fueled the competitive nature of the educational system.

Logan tried to start talking about the project, but Jason seemed too unfocused. He briefly mentioned what spells they could do, but his attention span seemed to be less than a toddler. Smirking to himself, Logan discreetly pulled his wand from his robe.

Before Jason even knew what was happening, Logan raised his wand and said “Silencio!”

Instantly, there was silence on the pitch as Jason’s voice had now been taken away from him. Logan looked at him, the smirk on his face. “Do you mind if I speak now?”

Then raising his wand again, he ended the spell so Jason’s voice was back. “I think the best and most important spell we need to do is Stupefy. Have you been able to successfully perform it?”

Jason was of course excited to be here right now. Even without the crowd, he still loved the feeling of being here. The pitch had everything he loved in life. It had excitement and things. He still couldn't figure out why Logan did not like it here. This place was great.

He was about to go into a long winded explanation of the rules before Logan silenced him. Jason looked at the other student throwing daggers with his eyes. If looks could kill, Logan would be dead right now. He slowly began to pull his hand into his robes so that Logan could not see what he was doing right now. He mutely nodded his head as he spoke.

As soon as the spell was broken and Logan was done talking, Jason raised his wand and yelled "Stupefy!" When he did this, a streak of red energy went from his wand and slammed into Logan's chest. He was rather quick from his many years of Quidditch. He looked at the stunned Logan and smirked. "I think I know how to do it... I mean you aren't moving and so I think I win?" He said as he playfully poked the other man.

"Rennervate!" He said as he waved his wand again to counter what he had done. He knew enough magic to know how to counter Stupefy. That was no small feat. "So I won right?" He joked watching for Logan's response

Logan saw the flash in Jason’s eyes after he look the silencing spell off of him. Logan knew what was coming next, but he was just a millisecond too late. He felt the curse him in the chest, and he flew backwards and landed on his back, staring up at that sky. Logan was not alright with what just happened. The curse he had set on Jason was just to tease him. It didn’t leave the more immobile, like Jason had to him. Logan was not a competitive person, but he was prideful, so if his pride is attacked, he retaliates.

He felt Jason realize him from the spell, and Logan closed his eyes, taking a deep breath in. He was going to give Jason the benefit of the doubt, and let him have his shining moment. Logan knew if Jason kept fooling around, he would be ready. He was stronger magically than this guy.

He stood up, dusting the grass off his pants. He didn’t acknowledge Jason’s comment about winning, and just reach into his bag. He pulled out his blank scroll and quill and place them on the ground in preparation to write down the situations he and Jason were going to create. He let Jason have his fun time, and it definitely brought the bitterness back into Logan’s demeanor.

“Ok then. Situation number one. You are in an alley and someone casts stupefy on you. You use protego to bounce the curse back to the other person. Would you like to practice the Protego charm?”

Jason looked around the pitch as the spell wore off. He was super happy right now that he had gotten Logan with that spell. He could almost sense that Logan was angry with him. Jason did not like getting hit with any kind of spell. He was ready to lunge at Logan for the Silencio thing. He did not like when people made him be quiet.

"HA! I got the Slytherin! I am the best magic user here!" He said knowing that he was not. He did have fast hands and that was definitely helpful when dealing with magic. He was definitely fooling around right now.

"I can do Protego, Logan! I am not that bad when it comes to doing magic. I just am bad at writing about magic. It just does not make sense." He said as he flopped down onto the grass looking up at the sky. He loved looking around at the sky. "I can do a rather decent shield spell." He said to the sky.

"We do not have to do it now. We can work on this project later." He said mostly to himself. It was clear that his mind was not here right now.

Logan rolled his eyes, watching and listening as Jason continued on with his gloating. Either the boy was mental, or he actually thought he was great because he was able to stun one person. Logan wanted to slap him and laugh at him at the same time.

Listening to the boy defend his abilities as a wizard, Logan just nodded his head. Ok, if the boy could a Protego charm, then he wouldn't question it. He did not feel like having another incident that just happened, where Jason had to prove himself and had a mini-celebration afterwards. They would be out here all day.

He looked down at Jason when he sat on the grass and said that they didn't have to do the project right then. Logan glared at him, nothing vicious, but definitely out of annoyance.

"Oh hell no. You dragged me out here and said we needed to get started right away, so we are doing this now."

Logan could have bullshitting his history of magic essay by this point, he was not letting this time go to waste.
