the grail war happens way too early because of the 4th war's mess, no?

in that case how the 5th war happens still can be traced back to them.

meanwhile in another universe they still tried to cheat and summoned a ruler of their own which derailed a later war.

But you can't blame them for Zouken, Kirei, and Archer (without making it convoluted). And that's most of the plot.

The degree to which it can be called cheating when you make the rules is an interesting one.

@Cojemo: Even Gil, the king of the hill, can really only handle 3 at any given point in time. So... Yeah.

Right, I also have all the groups set up in such a way to make this work. You guys might hate me for what I do here, though, and not just because of the groupings.
But that's part of the job of a GM, right? Make an experience that's just the right balance between fun and challenging in a scenario like this. :D

@PKMNB0Y I dunno, I honestly believe Gil could handle much more than 3 even with his overconfidence. Yeah there's been times where he couldn't, but I always look at those situations as oddities. I could be wrong though.

really though, pretty much all of the Servants displayed in cannon are far and away the cream of the crop with names like Hercules, Cuchulain and Lancelot. The average Heroic Spirit is a lot weaker and Gil is going to be able to fight with a lot more of them, possibly even dozens.

What sort of heroes are average though? Heroic spirits are often those who were outstanding one way or the other.
