Name: Kolgrin, or just "Kol"
Age: 9
Gender: Male
Race: Northwolf, a subspecies of vargr known for their intelligence and size.

Personality: Kolgrin has been a loyal servant of the king's guardsmen for most of his life. He is brave hearted, intelligent, determined, and kind. Although he didn't always get along with the king's men, he was loyal to them regardless because that was his duty. However, with the recent strife within the kingdom, the great wolf had to pick a side. He chose the side that had always been kinder to him: the princess.

Appearance: Kolgrin is pretty intimidating upon first seeing him. He is of a rarer breed of vargr, known for its size. As an adult, Kolgrin has reached his peak size at around the height and weight of a horse. He is covered in thick, black fur and has golden eyes. Aside from his size, he appears as a regular wolf.

History: Kolgrin was gifted to the king as a pup, from a far off northern nation as part of a peace offering. The king didn't have much use to the overgrown hound, and so he was passed off to the princess to be taken care off. In his youth, Kolgrin was very playful. He enjoyed the company of the princess as they played together.

But as Kolgrin grew, he became more of a handful than an overgrown housepet. When he was three, he was almost fully grown. He was passed off to the king's army to serve as a mount and a war beast. Kolgrin was a good asset to the guard, if only because he still technically served under the princess. However, upon hearing the news of the queen's death and the hunt for the princess, Kolgrin knew he could no longer serve the king.

Given his keen sense of smell, Kolgrin was the first tool to be used in the hunt for the princess. He was sent out with a large patrol to track the girl and her keeper down. However, Kolgrin purposely led the party astray, then turned on them. He slayed his own rider and a good portion of the hunting party before he ran off to lick his wounds. He then began his true search for the princess, hoping to find her to assist her in her escape from the king.

Alvina will definitely go with the princess's group (once she finds them), as that's where her primary motivation lies.

My posting on weekends will be limited as I work overnight shifts at my job and then sleep all day until a little before I have to go to work. I probably won't get another post up until Sunday or Monday.

So then no one is interested in the kingdom of monsters? Alrighty then, Vert will go with the group that isn't with Tahra. What was this group planning to do again? It's not exactly clear

Hey, y'all, sorry to do this but I'm gonna have to bow out. My life is getting unexpectedly busy and it wouldn't be fair to you all to keep going only to disappear later. I only made one post, so it shouldn't really affect the RP.

I mean, we set off at full speed towards the exit using all our horsepower while exhausting all our options to suppress the guard's advance to ensure we get away clean. Fools we are not. I suppose we could have just made it there and escaped in one post. Powergamed escaping the entirety of the royal guards as hard as we could. But that expectation wasn't clear.

Instead you seal the exit one post later even though we logically would have been there soon.

Forgive my saying, but this seems a bit like railroading. This whole situation really, though I gave you the benefit of the doubt up to this point.

(If you're wondering how I figured it out, calling us all fools OOC right before your post kinda gave it away. I'd be a bit more subtle.)

@Shisa I'm sorry. I actually did realize that it didn't really handle the whole ordeal right a bit after I made the first post about it.

I had worked this out with Game before. I don't remember seeing that we had a plan for a group to not go with the princess, so this guard raid was going to catch some people then the second group would be off to rescue them.

Though I don't know what exit you're referring to. Beside a small escape tunnel the only way out was the way the guards came in...

Shoot. Now I feel bad about my counter-powergaming, since there was actually a good reason for that story element.

My problem is that it was a really cheap no-sell.

You more or less ignored the fact that oil is rather difficult to extinguish and would soak through cloth, especially since Sergei doused them before actually throwing the molotov.

And when Lemon started casting lightning bolts, you didn't even do some sort of clever counter-spell, it boiled down to "No there are other mages and it doesn't work."

So between me and him their numbers should have thinned out rather nicely, all things considered.

@IncredibleBee guards that got doused backed off and people behind them took their place. Ones that weren't completely covered in it dropped the soaked cloth off of them.

For the lightning. The guardsmen mages only immediatly stopped the wind, the lightning hit but spearmen used their weapons as lightning rod to stop it from hitting the bulk of them before it could be dispelled.

That still doesn't stop the firebomb that got tossed directly into the crowd, which would scatter and ignite the lot. Also if Wledric's image is any indicator, the only cloth parts of the guards' armor would be a cotton gambeson under their plates, which would take too long to just yank off. Otherwise you have most of your guardsmen stripping down naked.

Also, spears can't serve as lightning rods if you're holding onto them. The electricity can just run through and get them anyways; that's why you don't get under a tree during a thunder storm.
