"Bernod Wikkbrught", apparent treasure hunter extraordinaire to the Border Prince Gustaov Galderson.

Welcome to "Vaults of Karak Zorn", a Warhammer Fantasy Dogs of War RP. The basic premise is that the mythical lost dwarven hold of Karak Zorn has been apparently found by a man claiming to be "Bernod Wikkbrught" and has gone to various Border Prince realsm before finding one that was willing to finance a mission to Karak Zorn which is actually located in the Badlands according to Wikkbrught after mysteriously coming across a large sum of gold in which he used to finance this mission. Of course, this being Warhammer and my overuse of quotations, you can already guess that this shit isn't what it seems to be. But your characters either don't know or don't care! Or both!

Players will not be playing as individual mercenaries, but instead mercenary commanders who lead their own little dogs of war regiment who were hired to be a part of this great hired army to Karak Zorn. They can be anyone so long as there's a sufficient enough backstory that can explain them. Of course there will still be animosity between Greenskins and Dwarves, the Elves, etc., but you're all in it for the money so who the hell cares? Just work with them for this little bit and you could be wealthy beyond your dreams! That said, I will be judging your regiments and commanders and looking for lore accuracy. Not details, but I shouldn't really see a horde of Lizardmen mercenaries. While you can use a canon regiment, I'd much prefer original works. A working understanding of Warhammer Fantasy is of course very helpful.

Any soldiers of fortune looking to seek their fortunes?

Count me in, Umgi. I love the idea of commanding a Dogs of War unit.

Sweet, any ideas?

I'm thinking of either a group of Slayers, a group of Dwarfs that were rivals of the clans of Karak Zorn so they aren't too picky about picking through the treasures, or a mixed bunch for a regiment, with a Borderlander Prince at its head.

Not as they are in canon since those are actual military units and not mercenaries. You could do something like the Winged Lancers where shamed or something and became mercs or they're a bunch of disowned sons of Boyars or something like that. Irondrakes are a lot harder to justify being a high tier dwarf unit.

I'll think up some justification for them being there, similar to what you suggested probably. They'll be similar to the Polish Winged Hussars IRL with heavy plate, a lance, shield, sword except instead of two normal pistols one repeater pistol.

If that doesn't work, I can say that the Irondrakes are just rich sons of Dwarf Lords and such who's inheritance is going to brothers and such so they decided to band together and reclaim this for themselves; the squad would be called "the disowned" or something.

As long as they're wealthy children I could see that happening, being sort of like Kislevite Voland Venators. Not sure how I feel about them actually having the wings or the pistol. For the wings it could be that its their insigna but as for the pistol, I'd probably allow like one normal pistol. Handguns aren't cheap to begin with and repeater pistols would be even more so.

My main issue here isn't that what you're proposing is too powerful or whatever, is more that its straying really far from canon. Dwarves by nature take honor and oaths very seriously so even if they were ticked off their brothers were getting the good stuff, they would still stay loyal to the wishes of their family and holds. Ironbreakers/Irondrakes are also old, extremely elite warriors in expensive runic armor who also take their oaths extremely seriously and wouldn't think to go against their king's wishes. Dwarves don't think like humans in this case, they wouldn't just go do their own thing because they couldn't get some inheritance, especially if they are effectively elite honor guards in the military.

Even if they were shamed in battle or something, it is more likely they'd end up as Slayers and give up their equipment.

Except they actually do have wings

As for the Dwarfs, this wouldn't really be against the wishes of family, just a way to make money, and fame for themselves. I mean, it's bloody Karak Zorn, Dwarfs would be jumping at opportunities to join this expedition and make a name for themselves for the Karaz Ankor. Them being Irondrakes is because they could afford gromril and a drakegun, whilst a literal flamethrower being quite good a weapon if you have little experience shooting and fighting. The Dwarfish way for a rich kid to show off is (apart from just showing his money) is to stomp some wazzocks, it's not about being shamed in battle. They weren't Irondrakes before, but decided to be them for the duration of what was to come.

@Andreyich I know that Kislev Winged Lancers have actual wings. What I said was going back to my thing on military units vs merc units and how that unless they were defectors they probably won't be having the full regalia.

As for the dwarves, I guess they could be a bunch of really independent young (by dwarven standards) beardlings from wealthy families who used their family's wealth to procure heavy armor and guns. I'm still unsure on full gromril though so how about this; your commander can have full gromril while the main bulk just has really finely crafted dwarven steel armor. Gromril is rare and is either reserved for the elite veteran units or has family herilooms and I'm not sure how much dwarven families would be willing to just give away such a valuable thing to a child who says he wants to find what most believe (including dwarves) to be a tavern story.

In that case can I have them as an artillery or thunderer unit or something, because without gromril you'll melt your face off.

I'd love to join. Not free to write right now, but I'll come
up with a sheet. Might not be up until the weekend but will be up.

I'm thinking sort of a team of Halfling Adventurers. Skirmishing, sneaking about, sabotage, distraction. Stuff like that.

Alright can I have them as four organ gun crews lead by an Engineer?

Each would have a rune of master-crafting and a rune of burning.

The organ guns sound good, just write some good backstory. I'm more iffy on the rune though.

Provided your dwarves don't stand in front of the barrel or attempt to use themselves as ammunition, it shouldn't be that much of an issue. Welcome aboard!
