Thank god, I had been debating on wether or not Mikhail should be afraid of spiders. Thankfully, I chose no, but those damn webs. Oh how I hate spider webs!!!

There really aren't magic users other than witches who aren't playable characters. Alchemy is possible but it's rare and difficult to master.

Well, the idea i was mullying was that of someone who has an identity crisis, and there were rumours of being a witchspawn.

Well let's see....There are witches who are very secretive and generally stay hidden. They are known to curse people and have created many of the monsters that are running rampant.

If you want to have a character who is suspected of something, they could be uncommonly skilled with alchemy, as that is mostly related to witches, also. While it isn't the same as magic, it can create potions and poisons similar to magic. Using alchemy, you could make things like smoke bombs, poisons that cause various effects, like paralysis or hair loss, and other things people might think are magic.
