I don't have any issues with your customization limits, I'm just getting an idea for what is allowed while I think of concepts. Another question I have is how much tech/equipment would we be allowed to start with? I was thinking of having my character be somewhat of a sniper and thought it might be cool to have some splinter-cell style goggles that could act as night vision/a range finder?

Again if that isnt acceptable no worries.

While I am parroting what has been said thus far, armor is fine, emblem is a tad military for an, albeit elite, policing force.

Speaking of customizations though, how much variance for specialist roles would be allowed? For example, a pilot or tech specialist might have lighter or otherwise modified armor compared to, say, a sort of riot specialist with reinforced armor.

Regarding your request that is. A sniper with NVG is acceptable.

As for equipment; all units come with the standard issue equipment of
full body armor, a grappling hook with forty foot retractable cable, an
electro-cosh (similar to a cattle prod, but holds the potential to render opponents unconscious via an unforgiving shock), a small combat knife,
four syringes of adrezine (gives you a heavy adreline boost and causes temporary yet potent release of pain surpressing endorphins, lasts to full effect for about an hour), three frag grenades, and three pulse grenades.

I’ll post weapons very shortly.

While I am parroting what has been said thus far, armor is fine, emblem is a tad military for an, albeit elite, policing force.

Speaking of customizations though, how much variance for specialist roles would be allowed? For example, a pilot or tech specialist might have lighter or otherwise modified armor compared to, say, a sort of riot specialist with reinforced armor.


Specialists, or classes, will be as follows; Standard, Tech, Sharps(Sniper),
All units will be efficient pilots, trained in advanced fighter combat and flight maneuvers along with their other skills.

Hmm, would they necessarily be super soldiers? I've been batting around the thought of a 'Space Janitors'-esque character.

This sounds really cool! I'd like to join, but if I can talk about the armor. I get why we you would want us to be uniformal, but the armor would be a (I'd even say big) part of our character customization. There is only Three classes from what I can tell and I assume the Weaponry will be quite Basic as well. I can see you're being cautious overall especially the post you talking about players trying to outplay you with . Maybe a little more freedom with Character Customization, might not be a bad thing if you can set broad standard?

On the armor, meh. I mean even IT was designed to be a WIP (2012 Destiny Concept art). To me it look too ceremonial. Unless that is the look you were going for, but from what I gathered we're more of a Space SWAT. My suggestions:


On the Emblem it does seem a little too Military/Paramilitary. Here is a suggestion of an Image:

No offense chum, but that symbol of yours is rather “militarish” as well.
And the armor, well, it’s a little too alien for my taste.

I dig the new emblem and the weapons. Are you going to be allowing one primary and one secondary, or two primaries and no secondary, or something else as far as loadouts go?

Also being a sniper would you be willing to allow customization of the rifle I use? I'm talking about things such as sights, suppressors, bipods, etc. or would the weapons need to remain as issued?

Just realized I neglected to answer your question. I apologize.

No, they’re not super soldiers. No genetic enhancing or extensive cybernetics or mutation. They’re just highly trained commandos of law enforcement.
Like the Veteran Rangers of the NCR. (If your a Fallout fan.)

@Mister Thirteen perhaps some type of shotgun? and the only other thing I could think of is perhaps a slug thrower for a assault rifle. Also for a edit when it comes to the laser carbine. I think it would need more rounds per clip. Since as a police force you want to be able to spend more time shooting then reloading. maybe like 25 shots or something. Otherwise our characters would have to carry a lot of ammunition in a firefight

Characters will be allowed one primary and one secondary weapon, this includes the Blazer sidearm. Meaning you can forego the pistol and instead have, say, a Laser Carbine and a Nailer Rifle.

As for customization of weapons, have at it!
Just note a suppressor wouldn’t make sense on a laser weapon, I’ve honestly never heard of that before. Correct me if I’m wrong though.

But yes, tripods, surpressors, night scopes, that’s all dandy.

NOTE TO EVERYONE: I’ll add the starships shortly.

ALSO, how does everyone feel about calling our protectorates here simply “Rangers”? Because I honestly can’t come up with any other name. @Eisenhorn@RangingWolf@Dredigan@Raider Dog@Blue Demon]@HachiRoku

Sorry, maybe I didn't word my question right.

Am I allowed to play a non-Ranger? Like, a backwater grunt or sanitation worker, something like that?

EDIT: Oh, right, would something like this suffice for armor? Source is an XCOM 2 ADVENT Officer.

@Mister Thirteen Rangers works fine as a name, but my suggestions would be: IPDF - Inter-Planetary Defense Force.

It might seem a little basic, but it is also fitting.

@HachiRoku Sorry, nay. You have to be a part of the force and maintain uniform.

I know it probably sounds like I’m being dictating and self-centered, but I’ve seen what happens when you allow too much diversity in an RP, it completely tears apart the whole thing, it disrupts the focal point. I just wanted to pinpoint that so you or other people didn’t think I was being too hard-lined.

Hmmm @Dredigan, I do like the sound of that. Alright then, I’ll put that suggestion to the front. I might also add just one more suggestion of mine; The ESI, the Emergency Security Initiative. Typing that out it sounds rather lame. I think I’ll stick to your suggestion for now
