https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/magus/archetypes/rogue-genius-games-magus-archetypes/arcana-lord/ Arcana Lord Magus

Basically its the inverse of sacrificing arcana points to get spell slots. You sacrifice spell slots and get points per slot level. It is sort of meant to let you play with the idea of a mystic swordsman rather than a spell and blade dual wielder.

@GRAY I am familiar with arcanists and the blade bound archetype its even further towards caster and less in terms of the mystical swordsman/fighter that I would be looking at. I havent been able to find something where a martial character might have a spark or natural talent for magic that they manifest through training with the sword rather than learning spell casting. So something like the arcana system, where you spend a point to execute a mystical strike infused with magical energy. Basically a martial character with access to mystical techniques they trained in drawn from their natural talent or an innate ability to harness the magics around them.

Oh, so you want an Iron Caster build.

That's not too hard. It just takes like two-three multiclasses, a specific pair of feats and comes online at like level 6.

Don't think it comes with Arcane Strike, but tbh you could just scalp one of the Fighter archetypes that give arcane casting/strike to get the Arcane Strike feat as long as it doesn't cuck you out of the required class feature to pull the build off.

@Rhiven Knight So like the alternate Divine Bond from the Paladin but from the get-go?
Edit: Swapping Spell Recall for Cannibalize Spell and getting the extra Arcana is AOkay in my book.

Will look at the divine bond alternate class features cause I have never paladined so I am not intrinsically familiar. I guess if I could resolve the problem perfectly to my satisfaction I would take the magus chasis, trade the spell casting for better advancement of the arcana abilities, possibly selecting from some custom arcana to create 'mystic techniques' Like a projected slash of magical energy, or reinforcing the melee attack before it happens with magical energy in a specific format, basically what a magus does now All things that are currently built into the kit or easily adapated to the kit, with only minor flavor changes. They are inherently sub obtimal to spells because they are, a different kind of action but I like that, the big thing is any of the arcana that adds spells is now basically worthless.

Edit: sweet tobiax, on a case by case basis would you consider 3rd party arcana that you find reasonable and in the flavor of the character I build?

@Rhiven Knight I will consider it as it's presented, and approve or deny it on a case-by-case basis. That being said, I have a feeling Rogue Genius stuff may be balanced and give you what you're looking for? Just a hunch. I've never looked too deeply into Magus.

@Riaxh We have eight potential players at the moment, which, as you can probably guess, is tipping max. If you want to hang around and watch, or wait if someone ends up not being able to play, then you're welcome to. If you want to express any ideas you had, you may do so.

yeah I figured as much. Alright I'll just hang around and see ^^ I've a few ideas floating around. Probably a Wizard or a Brawler, depending on what the party needed. Maybe a cavalier.

@Riaxh We currently have a wizard and a monk. So while Brawler's role is taken basically, at this point, repeats of some roles, like the wizardish ones, might be a possibility. Or, rather, still useful, due to various utility and/or damage applications. That said, while we do have a handful of melee classes/combatants, we don't exactly have a cavalier.

@tobiax Thanks for letting me know. But don't sweat it. If a space does open up, there's loads of class archetypes I'm interested in playing. Otherwise, no worries, have a good game ^^

Still looking for pathfinder players? And do you allow the Catfolk, Kobold, Ratling races?

I got a few characters I'm contemplating...
One of them being a character inspired off of the Warhammer Plague Monk.

@Tangletail Well, we currently have 8 players, as stated, so I'd need to do some deliberation. Technically not- I have a very select race document for this, almost all of which have been customized.
I'm not familiar with Warhammer, and we already have a Monk class.

Oh I know I meant in character design, not the actual classes.

Annnd custom document?

@Tangletail Yes. But, we currently have eight players, and I have to hear from two. I'd rather keep the setting/campaign specific information to confirmed players. If either of the two who haven't gotten to me in a while don't end up joining, then their spot will open up. Otherwise, I'm not sure I can handle like, ten players.

He can have my seat, I am currently struggling with sheet management syndrome. Or rather the desire to play but an intense repulsion to the necessary paper work.

Yeaaaah, that's pathfinder for you. Do you just need help throwing it together? Or you know what you're doing, and it's just a lot? Depending on what you're doing, I can show you a few tricks that makes the management less tedius.

I know the system pretty well, its making the character I have in mind fit into the sheet right now. Also the custom sheet is pretty good, but its different and I dont different well.

So I am going to let my spot go, as interesting as the character could have been, in favor of more conventional play by post.
