The Ogshog Tribe are actually the descendants of the original residents that lived in the now ruined settlement, however many years of inbreeding turned them into what they are today: Ogres. Quite possibly the original breed of Ogre if their legends are correct which usually they are not.

Race: Ratkin - Another experiment gone awry, their former small sizes now boosted tenfold by radiation and mutation into larger beings capable of standing on two legs. They are a superstitious lot with a strong story telling tradition which guides them (or hinders them from an outsider's perspective). Although they share some similarities with Furfolk such as being willing to cannibalize each other and having excellent survival skills, the two groups do not get along.

Beliefs: 

Ratkin venerate a person known as the "Great Caretaker", a deified human who helped their ancestors and whose lessons and remains they still carry to this day. Many of the stories and lessons that the Great Caretaker taught them still stay with them such as chivalry and the Myth of Utopia where long ago, a city of mice was granted complete luxury but turned on one another in a shocking display of hedonism and depravity. Thus they see temperance and strong will as a virtue and also ruthlessly cull their large litters so only the few most exceptional will grow. 

They also believe in the power of stories and immortality, not through life span but through memory. To be remembered is the way which a Ratkin may live on after death. To be remembered as a hero or great person is enshrine yourself in history forever.

History:

According to their own stories, Ratkin were once in the care of a human they call "Great Caretaker" who cared for them even while the rest of their kind tortured them. Where as others stole their young and kin, they made sure the rats always had enough food and comfort at least. When the apocalypses happened, many of their ancestors had experimental growth cocktails and intelligence-boosting drugs implanted in them that reacted with the nuclear fallout. Much like the Simmies, they too staged and uprising and slaughtered their way out, saving only the Great Caretaker who they considered themselves indebted to.

Once in the wasteland, they wandered and would eventually join (begrudgingly) with the Furfolk. However, the Ratkin found the Furfolk to be distasteful and never truly integrated. When the Great Father was found dead at the hands of a Furfolk, the Ratkin launched a revolution and split their ways, taking the body of their Great Caretaker with them as they once again set out into wastes until they founded their own city of Highwarren.

History: 
The carnivores, herbivores and omnivores always fought each other for the land they inhabited. This small piece of safe, green land slowly became stained red by their conflicts.
As the Haven's overlords came to collect tax from the individual groups, they noted that fewer and fewer of these furfolk of the north remained.
They also noted that less tax was able to be claimed due to the in-fighting.
An ultimatum was given to the three groups; get along or be driven out. Driven out would surely mean death, for nothing could grow in the wastelands.

The leaders of the three factions met in the no man's land that had been created between their respective territories, and treated.
The negotiations were harsh and hostile. Eventually, the herbivores, whose numbers were almost equal that of the carnivores and omnivores combined, were fed up. They refused to come to an agreement with their sworn enemies and competitors, and simply left. They migrated elsewhere in the haven-zone as to not incur the Overlords' wrath.

Suddenly left with far fewer mouths to feed and a large plot of land ready to be claimed, the carnivores and omnivores soon came to an agreement that they would co-exist and prosper together.
The terms were set, agreed upon, and finalized as the Voren Accord.
A few herbivores still remain in the accord, but saw it fit to agree to the accord. Of the previous dozen of subgroups that fought over this part of the zone, 5 subgroups remain.

A new era dawns.

The old world is no longer. It has been devastated, murdered, by the hells of nuclear war.  No one knows who shot first, or how it all went down but it does not matter now. Lespia, once a world power, is reduced to a nuclear hellscape. Ninety-eight percent of the population vaporized in a matter of seconds as the bombs landed. Whatever remains of humanity in Lespia retreated into deep metros and tunnel ways, where the effects and devastation of thermonuclear bombs were felt the least. Hopes of a happy ending, where humanity would reach the stars and master the stars themselves was dashed as the worst of humanity was brought to reality in the Lespia Tragedy. 

The husk of Merkopa is a terror to see - a nightmare came true. All but the strongest of buildings were utterly destroyed in the nuclear shockwave. For the buildings that have withstood the bombs, they stand tall in the midst of ruins, reminders of an old Lespia. These surviving buildings are decayed and worn, filled with corpses.

In the ruins of Merkopa, there are many groups and factions. One of them is the Merkopa Demokratische Republik (MDR). A grand and proper name for a nation, but it is nothing but a name. The MDR, like any other small-time government/faction, are just a couple of thousands of people living the brutal hell of the Merkopa ruins. Rations, death, starvation, raids, wars, and what else is the reality facing the people in the Merkopa and anyone else in the city. 

The origins of the MDR dates back to the first year after the bombs fell. The remnants of central authority, the Lespia government in central Merkopa, quickly lost its influence into its six months of rule due to increasing hardship from the onsetting nuclear winter and the isolated nature of their governmental body. Factionalism soon replaced what remains of the whole of Lespia. In the southern part of Merkopa, where the MDR was born, there was a deep-relationship with Gerlachism (the equivalent of Marxism) in the area. In Lespia history, it hosted the largest labor unions and was ground-zero for major socioeconomic and political events. Not surprisingly, the area gave away to socialist ideology, with most leaders being former labor organizers and union leaders.
