As soon as Captain Danvers showed up in order to help secure the ship, Steve and his team leapt into action. Goliath rose up in the air, swatting at passing Dominator ships as if they were flies. Carefully catching them with his other hand and placing them down again in an attempt to minimise damage. Falcon flew ahead of him in an effort to try and lure the ships directly towards the giant. Meanwhile, Union Jack and Black Widow jumped straight into the fray in order to take down as many dominators as possible.

Steve ducked undercover as another bolt of plasma came racing towards him, adjusting himself slightly as the stun shot followed it. Sneaky. Like they had years ago they seemed to be trying to take prisoners, the difference was that they were better prepared now than they had been. With the ship being restrained the second one seemed unable to come through the breach and with Parker homing in on the location that seemed to be causing the disturbances it was only a matter of time before they wrapped this whole thing up.

Twisting he threw his shield, feeling his backache as he did so. The metal disk bounced off a lamppost, rebounded off a nearby wall and collided into a row off Dominators, as it was finding its way back Steve ran towards it catching it on his arm. Turning into it he spun around, using the momentum of the shield, and released it for a second hit towards the faltering aliens. There was a roar of engines overhead as Falcon flew over, chased by Dominators which were in turn flanked by F-35s.

Steve brushed himself off as he took cover by an abandoned police cruiser. Tapping into his main earpiece in order to gather a lay for the land and how it was developing. The Unknown Spider-hero and Superboy had wrapped up the situation in Brooklyn, while the X-Men appeared to be on the scene in Queens which meant that the biggest threat was now the Dominator ship and the threat of a second one looming at the edge of the portal.

”Spider-Man to Avengers… I’ve got a location on the source of the portals. I’m ready to move in and secure it, but could use a ride from the Liberty and some backup. In order to close the portals, we’re going to need data from them so we can try to reverse what made them. If all goes well… pizza is on me tonight.”

Steve had to suppress a smile. Parker always managed to pull through for the team, if he could make the kid a full-time S.H.I.E.L.D agent he would, but so far he had been reluctant. Steve tapped his own earpieces - "Spider-Man this is Rogers. The Falcon is on his way to pick you up. Walters if the reports are accurate and you're with the Wasp give her my greetings, and then give her cover to do whatever science mumbo-jumbo she can come up with. Danvers, if you can spare the power see what your ring can tell us. The more information we can get the better."

Steve heard a large bolt of plasma coming towards him, and barely had enough time to get his shield facing the car before it exploded casting him into the air. Landing with a heavy thud he felt the wind knocked out of him. Opening his eyes he struggled to get his vision into focus, or the ringing in his ears to stop. Sitting up slowly he saw a pair of Dominators approaching him guns drawn at the ready. Only to be swatted away at the last second by Goliaths hand.

That was close. Was all Steve could concentrate on.

It had been a tough fight through the irradiated Las Vegas. She-Hulk and Spider-man had reached the source of the radiation, only for Spider-man to be hit by an intense burst of radiation causing him to become more of a Man-Spider, one that She-Hulk had to try and subdue. Preferably without breaking him.

Meanwhile, Abomination was thrown through a wall at the top of the Strand. Landing in the centre of the room amid machinery, wires and piping. Through the hole jumped the HULK with a roar. Elsewhere in the room, someone moved, casting a long shadow. "I was wondering when you would get here-"

Hulk turned his head looking around the room. Standing ready, trying to figure out where the voice was coming through. Seeing a shadow move he grabbed a nearby piece of a broken pipe, throwing it to the other side of the room it clattered against the wall before rebounding and rolling along the floor harmlessly. "-now that's quite unnecessary. In fact, this whole 'heroic' act is really unnecessary. What I'm doing here would change the world and your place in it."

Samual Sterns stood out of the shadow, and Hulk growled, teeth together in a long, low, snarl. "You do not want help, only control."

"Don't you see? Banner only uses you, SHIELD uses you, the whole world sees you as a sword to be used against whatever plight comes next. Gamma makes you strong, it makes everyone strong. In a Gamma-World you would be perfect and at home. Would I lead? Obviously but would the world not be so much better off? No more running, no more hiding. No more Banner."

Hulk paused. Sterns was right, Hulk was just a weapon to everyone. Something to be used when times got tough.

[color=yellow]"I could make it a world of Hulks, everyone would be strong like you."[/yellow]

A smirk crossed Hulks face. "Hulk is only Hulk and Hulk-" Raising both his arms and drawing back his chest, hands flat. "IS STRONGEST THERE IS!" Hulk brought his two hands together with a mighty thunderous clap, the shock wave went through the room tearing apart pipes, wires, gears and all forms of machinery and machinations.

"NO! NO! NO! YOU FOOL!

A giant metal fist collided with Hulks jaw, sending him careering to the other side of the room.

Steve sat back down as Thor continued to speak, and he just... laughed. A good hearty chuckle. He hit the palm of his hand down on the table as he did so. Wiping his face clear he waved his hand towards Thor. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry I realise this isn't a joking matter. Let me just recap before we continue." Steve sat up straight and looked at Thor directly in the eyes. "You drop in out of nowhere, go to a bar. Say you're here to take charge of Earth. Then you come to speak to me, basically say we're worthless and waiting to be ruled by yourself. Tell me if we don't bow to you then your father is going to come and force us to submit, then you complain about my lack of hospitality?"

This was nearing the point of failed diplomacy. When the name Thor had actually been dropped Steve had been hopeful, in all the myth and legends that he had the archivists dig while Thor was on his journey to the Helicarrier had painted Thor in a very positive light. A friend to humanity, an ally. If he was who he claimed to be his demeanour was leaving a lot to be desired.

"You know I wanted to believe you were one of the good ones, instead, you come and threaten our freedom and our very lives. To be completely honest you don't sound like the kind of King, or God, we want trying to rule our world. This is the moment where I give you a chance to leave peacefully before we need to throw you away and lock away the key."

Steve had originally hoped to have Diana come in and talk some sense into him, he technically shouldn't have been using her as an asset with her... colourful relationship with S.H.I.E.L.D but when it came down to talking about gods he was way out of his depth, he still went to church on a Sunday if he could make it and nothing in the bible seemed to match the picture Thor was trying to paint. Now? He couldn't risk putting her in the same room it would likely just escalate things further and he was trying to avoid a fight.

COMING TO AMERICA: GUEST APPEARANCE
COMING TO AMERICA: GUEST APPEARANCE

Bruce Banner looked at the scanner in his hands. Trans-dimensional theory wasn't exactly his area of expertise, but Gamma was and whatever the entity had used to break through the dimensional barrier had created the brieftest of Gamma Spikes, and that was something that he could track. He sighed as he walked into the bar. Bruce didn't like the city very much, infact he actively tried to avoid them whenever he possibly could. Gamma Base, deployment and maybe the occasional visit to the Helicarrier or Triskellion. That was enough civilisation for him. He had a bad habit of breaking civilisation whenever he went too it.

Stopping outside of a bar, Bruce shrugged as he pushed his way in. The scanner pointed him towards a tall long-haired blonde man. Raising his voice above the din, he projected it through the bar. "My name is Doctor Bruce Banner. Everyone but the blonde leave the bar." The toughest of bikers had their eyes go wide at the mention of his name, as they all stood up just abandoning their drinks. Some risked going past him out the front door, careful not to touch him or barge past him. Others rushed through the back and out the door. The Bartender was last to leave, casting a cautious glance between the blonde man and Bruce, who walked round behind the bar. Grabbing a glass he pulled on the tap, filling it with beer and sliding it infront of the entity. He then pulled out a can of soda out of the fridge for himself, pulling the tab of the can open it with a crack-hiss.

"So your lack of reaction to my name lets me know that you aren't a regular visitor. Mind telling me who you are and what you're doing on my planet?"

O L D F R I E N D S
O L D F R I E N D S

FIVE YEARS AGO // NORTHERN TERRITORIES // CANADA

Thor sighed as he resigned himself to go find his axe, while he told himself he had warned the trolls. There had been no choice.
Previously

Once the Trolls had been dealt with, Screwbeard had been more than willing to co-operate. Melting down the weapons the trolls had been using them, cleaning and purifying the metal. This had been the relatively simple part of the job. Thor had his connections on Midgard, and he always kept on the look out for anything that could possibly be Asgardian in nature, he had already helped operatives of a group who called themselves a shield to break apart the berserker staff. A weapon left behind centuries ago.

Now with the help of his allies, he found himself in the forests of the nation that called itself Canada. He looked up as he heard two ravens fly overhead. He quickly looked away from them. If Odin wanted to waste time and keep an eye on him, that was his own waste of time. Thor wasn't a threat, he didn't seek to overthrow and rule Asgard. All he wanted to do was help people, and he'd do everything in his power to make sure he could do so as well as possible. The weapon was being forged, yet Screwbeard was no sorcerer and nor was Thor. In days past Midgard possessed its own Sorcerers though Thor wasn't entirely sure where any of them were these days, he had done a 'google' and found several though they all turned out to be charlatans.

So now he sought a different kind of sorcerer. He had heard the tales when he still traversed the nine realms, the dark elf sorceress who had once lain with Malkeith the Accursed. He had betrayed her and murdered her entire village and people. After she attempted to kill him, he cast her out. Malekith found it crueller to banish her to where she could never return than to allow her to reunite with her people in the afterlife.

1015CE // EAST COAST // NORTH AMERICA

Selvig nodded along. "I took the liberty of pulling some files once I saw the news-" He indicated to the mess of papers surrounding him. "-just in case you came looking for my help." Thor smiled at his friend as Erik worked his way into the centre of the papers. "From what I can tell our Draugr friend from Oslo was from a particularly nasty group of Norsemen. They routinely went a-Viking but killed indiscriminately. Other Norse, men, women, children. Unlike other Norse Clans there seemed to be no form of system of honour, other than strength-"

Thor ground his teeth together. "I know the type well."
Previously

The village burned. Bodies littered the ground, covered in a smoky haze. The smell of death, piss and sweat radiated from every darkened corner. In the centre of the village, the biggest fire of all roared, almost as violently as the attackers had claimed the village. Bodies of the fallen raiders were lifted and thrown onto the fire to burn as a massive communal funeral pyre. The bodies of the fallen villagers? The men and women who fought back? They were left where they fell. The raiders had come through the fog of the sea, they had been unprepared.

They had heard tales of whitemen, but had never seen heard tales of them being this far north, or capable of attacks so brutal. All the men had been killed, not just the warriors. Even the elders, and boys who had come off age. All the woman, who hadn't fought back had been rounded up near the funeral pyre. The raiders had taken the most attractive of the woman by force, their protests and screams the only thing that could be heard over the roaring fires. The rest who had already been used, and those who could do nothing but watch, whimpered and sobbed huddled together. Surrounded by guards who leered at them, occasionally drawing a blade near them. Cutting cheeks, or using them to remove clothing.

In the longhouse all the food in the village littered the tables, men stumbled around and cheered. Women from the village served the men their food, alcohol and other needs. Those that didn't had their throats cut, and were put back outside with the others. The Jarl sat on the chair at the end of the longhouse, he had brought it with him from his homeland as he surveyed his raiders as they all partook in the bounty this land had brought them. It would be a good land to conquer, the people were fighters but their techniques for making armour and weapons seemed almost primitive. They were not true warriors. He dropped the mug of ale he had been drinking, while the others drank the piss poor stuff the natives made he was drinking the ale they had brought from the homeland. His hand outstretched, a local girl quickly filled it with another tankard.

As she was close to him he moved his hand to his knife, working its way up the side of her dress splitting the seam, barely cutting into her skin. She screamed as it dropped to the floor. Laughing he kicked her as she walked back away from him, trying to cover herself. He didn't see what became of her as his right hand man approached.

"My Jarl. The men have finished gathering everything of value in the boats."

"And have they had their fill?" He swirled the liquid around his tankard before taking a swig of the tepid liquid.

"Aye."

"Very well. Have the men return to the boats, we sail for home. We shall use the riches from his haul to build a fleet big enough to bring our people here, to conquer the new world."

"And what of the woman?"

"You say the men have had their fill?" The man nodded. "Then send them to join their men in the afterlife." A grin spread across the mans face.

"Aye, Jarl Jaekelsson."

”Perhaps we can figure out an alternative solution.” Stephen smiled at his friend, always trying to find the diplomatic solution, the middle ground, the solution that everybody could agree too.

Son of a bitch.

That was why she included Longwei. She learnt of Chinas interest in Yao and used that, his connection with Longwei and his renown for finding middle ground. Stephen had come into this meeting expecting a game of checkers, and yet she had come prepared for a game of chess.
Previously

Stephen smiled politely as Eri got up, bowed and then left the room. Longwei lingered as the door slowly closed behind the sorceress. Stephens' smile dropped. “What the hell was all that about Longwei?”

Wong, now the meeting had officially had ended and was no longer obliged to hold his tongue hissed a warning. ”Stephen!”

Longwei smiled and raised his hand to Wong. “No, it’s quite alright. Let him speak his mind now the politics are done.”

Stephen nodded. “I’ll admit to not following politics as well as I should have over the years, but how on Earth did it come to Japan and China teaming up to get what they wanted? Surely you could have approached me yourself?”

There was a groan of frustration out of Wong. ”This is what you get for not reading the briefing packets I made for you-”

”The politics of our communities do not always follow the Geo-politics of the world at large. China and Japan have enjoyed a relatively co-operative union since the revolution. Beforehand there were large swathes of magi community living in the open, Mao Zedong didn’t like anything he couldn’t control and moved to wipe them out. Yao used this as a way to remove political rivals and solidify his own power within China. Japans Magi Community is still home to many chinese refugees, many more travelled through Japan since it was far more stable and accepting of Magi than any of Chinas other neighbours.”

In the corner of the room Wong nodded along. “My family came through Japan to the US. Even I feel a debt of gratitude.”

Stephen sighed. “Even when magic is involved you can’t escape the world of politics.”

“Politics is universal.”

”So where do we go from here?”

It was Longweis turn to sigh, his gaze lost into the distance. ”That is up to you, afterall you are the Sorcerer Supreme-” He raised his hand before Stephen could interrupt. ”-However, you have agreed to the terms. Mistress Yoshida will expect you to honour them, failure to do so could result in creating division between Sanctuaries, which could result in their failing.”

”If you were so against the terms, why did you suggest them? Unlimited access to Yao, in private, at any time requested by any member of the Japanese Sanctuary- Stephen looked over to Wong. ”That was his wording?” Wong nodded.

”While I may privately agree with you, that allowing anyone to see and interact with Yao is dangerous, let alone Miss Yoshida, publically I need to do what is in the best interest of the members of my community. I wasn’t exaggerating when I say that many want to see him stand trial, but first a debt must be paid to our friends the Japanese. Silence fell.

”Not just to the Japanese.”

Stephen and Longwei turned to Wong as he spoke.

”Yoshida Eri is also gathering a large following in the United States, and has many political allies here. She is campaigning for a peaceful integration of the Magi and Non-Magi communities-” Wong looked directly at Stephen. ”-She is after your job Stephen.”

Stephen couldn’t help but let out a laugh. ”Well that part I knew, she’s conniving and she’s ambitious. Of Course she’d want to be at the top of the food chain.”

Momofuku Ko // 8 Extra Pl // New York

Dining at its finest. Glasses clinked among the low din of the busy restaurant. Guests had to wait atleast fifteen days to make a reservation, and even then they were lucky to get anything more than a tasting table. Let alone get it for any less than two-hundred and eighty dollars per head. For the experienced however, it was mere childsplay to get past the fool at the door. The security had been vigilant but was no more difficult to deal with. Walking to the middle of the room several eyes passed over him, just another waiter, a lowly member of staff nothing to be concerned with. Walking right up to a table the old hag who was sat at the table went to speak.

Without so much as any hesitation he jumped up onto the table, plates and glasses clanked and shattered as he unceremoniously kicked them off. Those at the table leapt back and a chorus of ”I say- What in the name- Never have I- and What does he think he’s doing” filled the air. He pulled a long thin wooden looking object out of his pocket. Raising it to his throat the tip of the wand illuminated with a blue light. His voice boomed throughout the restaurant. ”LADIES AND GENTLEMAN!” Raising his free hand into the air he spun around so everyone could get a good look at him.

“I hope you are all enjoying the expensive food, and even more expensive wine-” He winked in the direction of a rather large man whose face had become about as red as the glass of wine in front of him. “-I am here to provide tonights entertainment. Who would like to see a magic trick?”

22,002 // ORBUCEN

Richard flew, more or less, straight to the government building. He did what he could on the way, with Worldminds constant nagging in the background. Save a couple of people from falling buildings, and move them in the direction of the ships. In the distance, he could see the rioters outside protesting the Central Authority. Good for them, shame it came right at the end. Richard really had no notion to move in and help them, but considering the fact that these officials held the lives of everyone aboard the ships in their hands he had no choice. If he couldn't save everyone, he had to save someone.

Without pomp or ceremony, he crashed through a window and into the center of a room. There were screams of panic, guards sprang into action before a very well-dressed alien came forward raising his hands. "Hold your fire! This is a Nova Centurion!" The being approached him, Richard extended his hand and it was grasped by both of the aliens' hands. "I am glad to be seeing you now. We had hoped that our planet could have been saved, however with you here now we can maybe save what is left of our people. The disturbances within the atmosphere have prevented our evacuation, and the protestors have prevented our land transports. You must see us to our ships."

Richard pulled his hand back. "I'll see you to your ship, but first give me the codes to launch the ships-"

Caution Richard Rider, adrenal spike detected in many of the occupants of the room.

"That way if you don't make it the ships can still lea-"

"Unacceptable. You will take us, and then we shall supply the codes."

"I only mean it to make sure your people survive."

"Either we all survive, or none of us do. This is the way of things. If you do not help us, none of us will survive and that will be your burden to bear."

"But your people will die."

"Only if you fail to save us."

Richard had to refrain from physically frowning, it cost all his focus to stop the rage from translating into his eyes. "Fine lets go, but no-one gets hurt."

Without offering a chance for any rebuke Richard led the group of five out of the room, through the council halls, and out into the public. As soon as they appeared the crowd surged forward, and objects came flying at them. Thrown from protestors. "Graviton shield to full strength, full coverage."

There was a flash of light as the field expanded, objects bouncing harmlessly off. As they moved into the crowd anyone that attempted to stand in their way was pushed aside. Richard could see the pain in these poor people's faces, the anguish, and the anger. The rage.

Richard had never felt more ashamed in his life, all these people wanted was a chance to survive. He could be doing something, and yet here he was. A chaperone to the powerful.

DC:Comics

F A L L O F J U S T I C E

Heroes have existed for centuries, in stories as old as language. Gods and men come together to fight against the evils that plagued the world. As time went by these stories became myth and legend, just another tale in the lexicon of human history. That was until the dawn of the Supermen during the second world war.

The Justice Society of America brought together a group of heroes capable of incredible feats of strength, both of mind and body. Their heroics captured the imagination of the world and inspired others to speak out against injustice. Eventually, public perception would twist. The heroes saved the day from the villains, but without the heroes would there be villains?

External and internal pressure during the Cold War brought about the end of the JSA. Overtime many of the aging heroes retired and while some may have occasionally drifted into the limelight many thought the days of super-heroics being a daily occurrence were behind them.

That was until 2010 the surface world was invaded by the warriors of Atlantis.

Earths Mightiest Heroes banded together in our moment of need to save us, and gradually over time would come to be the organization known as the Justice League. For a time public perception seemed to favour them, however mounting global political pressure meant that when innocent bystanders were killed when an alien named Despero came seeking to test his strength.

In the 4 years since, while many heroes still exist there is no unified front, the question on everyones mind?

When Justice Falls, what prevails?

This is the other half of the One Universe game that doesn't exist, and yes the Earths Mightiest Heroes joke was intentional. This is an interest check so I'm going to keep things brief.

I've got what should be a fun, yet different, GM plot and I think my setting is pretty cool. My goal is to allow people to make their DC character whomever they want, and said individual can be at any point in their career that you want them to be (Legacies have to be regarded on a case-by-case basis. If someone wants to play an Older Nightwing with an Old Man Batman as their NPC then that would be acceptable. If we have a Batman player and someone wants to play Nightwing we have to discuss things with both players to make it work).

In the setting of roleplay only three things are currently fixed in the timeline.

  • The JSA was active during WW2 and disbanded around the time of the Cold War.
  • The Justice League formed during an attack on the surface world from Atlantis (accidentally making Aquaman a character with a potentially super cool character arc)
  • An incident where Despero attacked the Hall of Justice caused political tides against the JL, which forced them to disband, four years ago.

You've maybe read my Old Man Captain America now get ready for an entirely original idea... Old Man Superman!

My concept hinges on Superman's shuttle arriving in 1954. His parents told him the truth of his origin when he was ten and his powers started to manifest. At fifteen his father, Johnathan Kent was drafted in the Vietnam war. Even at a young age, Clark had a keen sense of justice, feeling it unfair there was nothing he could do but take over for his father on the farm while also doing his school work, then when his father died in the war console and take care of his mother, for a while he felt intense guilt for having the power to have helped in the war but never having done so.

Upon discovering his crashed Kryptonian ship thanks to a key his mother gave him, he learnt the truth of who he was. Donned the family emblem, and ventured out into the world in the late 70s as the hero that would come to be known as Superman.

Like all heroes he fought alongside heroes against villains and natural disasters, but as time went on he made a life for himself. While Superman continued to make headlines Clark Kent met Lois Lane, the love of his life, got married and settled into a comfortable career as a reporter for the Daily Planet. A founding member of the Justice League he had been intending to come out to the world with his true identity, as a husband and a father, on the day Despero attacked.

In the battle Lois Lane-Kent was named as one of the fatalities.

One week later Superman hung up the cape for the last time at the official disbanding of the Justice League, Clark Kent packed up his office and returned to Kansas. To Smallville and the family farm, a Widower who would go on to raise his son. Jon Kent.

I always liked the Boy Scout-type characters. I want to tell a very different story in this game than I typically do. I want to tell a very human story and I understand the irony in using an alien to do so. I want to explore real emotions, of grief and frustration as Clark continues to try navigate a changing world as a being of unfathomable power.

Yet at the same time, he's a grieving husband who has to raise a son by himself. A son who is the hybrid of two peoples, and a son who is coming into his own power. Clark and Jon will explore their dynamic, and thei rplace in the world as Heroes as the story unfurls, all the while a New Superman tries to fill the void left behind. Jons 'uncle', Connor.

Richard could feel the eyes burning on him as he walked through the streets, the gravitational shield still keeping the members of this worlds government safe. The same people who had selected who would be saved, and ensured that if they could not be safe then nobody was going to be.

Danger Richard Rider, you must pay attention at this time.

There was a boom up overhead, and a crash as something fell from the sky into the ground before Richard. He held up his hands to get everyone to stop.

"What in the world?"

No Richard Rider, not off this world.

Out of the crater crawled a massive creature, he had seen his fair share of monsters and beasts throughout the years, from abominations of science to aliens and even one or two magical beings but something about this one seemed wrong. It had froth around its mouth, and a rage behind the eyes that he found unsettling.

"Unidentified Alien-" Richards voice boomed through various different translations all at once. He wasn't entirely sure of the science behind it but he didn't have time to stop and question it everytime he was speaking to some new alien. Especially one that looked distinctly mad. "-I am Nova Centurion 11249-44396. I am tasked with saving as many people of this world as possible. Step aside immediately."

The alien roared at him and charged.

"Shields!"

His entire body glowed as he was struck by a single fist. He was sent flying through the delegates, and there was the distinct possibility that he collided with at least one of them. Climbing out of the building that he ended up in he shook his head. "Holy hannah, how hard did he hit us?"

Still determining, however I would advise you do not allow him to hit us again that hard.

"Gee thanks, I'll work on that."
